In 2016 the comune of Gravina made an application for the cheese to receive PDO status within the European Union. In 2012 has been recognized as Slow Food Presidia, from Slow Food International organization, thanks to the work made by Mr. Antonio Cucco Fiore.

From 1999 to 2001, Fernald developed and implemented business and marketing plans for small-scale cheese makers in Sicily for a European Union-funded rural development initiative, CoRFiLaC. She then moved on to direct the International Presidia program at Slow Food in Bra, Italy, where she devised and instigated an international micro-investment program that managed business planning and marketing for small-scale artisan food producers in countries such as Madagascar, Sweden, Ecuador and Bosnia between 2001 and 2005.Josh Sens, "Anya Fernald's Empire of Meat," San Francisco, March 26, 2013.

From 1952 to 1966, the Politburo of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union was known as the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, but despite the similarity in name with the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet, the two Presidia were very different in power and function. The term presidium is currently used in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly) and in the People's Republic of China (Presidium of the National People's Congress, Standing Committee of the National People's Congress; the Chinese word for presidium is while standing committee is ). In the same way, the Workers' Party of Korea is led by the Presidium of the Politburo of the Workers' Party of Korea, made up of 5 members or fewer.

2011 the parish included about 1,250 English- and about 1,600 Urdu-speaking families. Over the years the following groups have functioned in the parish, Parish Council, Senior, Junior and Children’s Choirs (English and Urdu), Legion of Mary ( several presidia), Vincent de Paul Society, Youth group (English and Urdu), Lectors’ group (English and Urdu), Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers and Collectors, Family of Jesus and Mary, Familia group, Sunday school (English and Urdu) and Security group. The parish also has chapters of the Catholic Women’s Guild, Women's Sodality and the Goinkars’ Own Academy. The old St. Anthony’s School, built along the wall of the compound was demolished and in its place, on the opposite side, an imposing three storied structure was constructed for the school which incorporated a hall to seat the overflow of parishioners from the church in 1990.

18th century Following the Spanish Succession War (1701-1714) ended with the peace treaty of Utrecht (1713) and specifically the peace treaty of Rastatt (1714), the King of Spain Philip V was forced to cede the Kingdom of Naples, the Kingdom of Sardinia, the State of the Presidia and much of the Duchy of Milan to the emperor Charles VI. The Ossola and with it Pieve Vergonte followed the political destiny of the Duchy of Milan passing under Austrian administration. The Duchy of Savoy led by the Duke Vittorio Amedeo II acquired the kingdom of Sicily exchanged in 1720 for the Kingdom of Sardinia and part of the Duchy of Milan. Vittorio Amedeo II concluded the political goal of transforming the noble title from Duke to King. Following the Austrian Succession war (1740-1748) and the related Worms treaty of 1743 and the Aachen treaty of 1748 which ended the conflict, the Kingdom of Sardinia acquired Ossola, including Pieve Vergonte .
