The Aloha Bowl was established in 1982 by Mackay Yanagisawa, a sportsman from Oahu. With the exception of the 1983-86 playings, the Aloha Bowl was traditionally played on Christmas morning in Honolulu. For most of its playings, the game was sponsored by Jeep Corporation. The bowl originally applied for certification by the NCAA Division I Championship Committee in 1981, but certification was delayed until 1982.

Postgirobygget is a Norwegian rock band from Trondheim. Singer and songwriter Arne Hurlén, bass player and backing vocals Nicolai Hauan (new member in 2009), guitarist and backing vocals Nils Petter Time, keyboardist and harmonica player Øyvind Kolset, and drums, percussion and backing vocals Per Sarin Madsen. The band formed as the cover band The Pissed Off Boys for a student party in late 1994. They never really intended to play as a "proper" band with their own songs, but their live playings created such a passionate fan base that they kept going.

In 1902 Edison Records launched a line of improved hard wax cylinders marketed as "Edison Gold Molded Records". The major development of this line of cylinders is that Edison had developed a process that allowed a mold to be made from a master cylinder which then permitted the production of several hundred cylinders to be made from the mold. The process was labeled, "Gold Moulded" because of the gold vapor that was given off by gold electrodes used in the process. Originally all cylinders sold had to be recorded live on the softer brown wax which wore out in as few as twenty playings.

Years active: 1990–96, 2008 Hang Tough saw the contenders use a series of hanging gymnastic rings to swing themselves from one side of the arena to the other with the object being to reach and land on a platform on the opposite side while trying to avoid being taken off the rings by a Gladiator or falling off on their own. The contenders were given sixty seconds to reach the opposite end and received ten points if they did. If they lasted the whole sixty seconds and were still on the rings, they received five points for a draw unless the official determined that they did not make enough of an effort to advance, resulting in no points being awarded; this rule was instituted after several early playings saw contenders only go out a short distance from their platform. It also gave rise to a short-lived seven point draw possibility, which required the contender to advance to the closest rings to the Gladiator's platform (which were color coded).
