Napoleon Beazley (August 5, 1976 - May 28, 2002) was a convicted murderer executed by lethal injection by the State of Texas for the murder of 63-year- old businessman John Luttig in 1994. Mantis was locked in a cage for days and forced to sit and wait for something to happen, and he entered a trance that allowed him to survey the world moving faster than he did. This allowed him to develop the patience needed to devise a plan of escape, playing dead to trick the crocodiles into opening his cage and defeat them. Laurence Augustine "Gus" Dobrigh (11 February 1893 – 21 September 1982) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). For the most part, Bosco and Faith were seen as the ‘perfect cop’, as Bosco's aggressive toughness balanced his partner's level-headedness.

However, with Leader being a dog, he is mainly showing the race what he and other dogs do on earth. With this, some of the more canine things he does are considered great feats to the Zmedians, like drinking from the toilet, playing dead, and even having a massive and rather nasty bowel movement. The characters consist of King Adrian, the king who loves Leader and his ways, as well as Adrian's son, a spoiled young prince named Prince Guz who despises Leader in every way and tries to overpower him; and the twin explorers named Dave and Blark (one of them acts serious most of the time, while the other is more comedic and happy), who saved Leader. Like many of the other shorts that aired alongside it, each episode of the show is only one to three minutes long and aired randomly on Nicktoons.

In order to achieve that, they call the only person who has had any success outside the village, Franck (Benoît Poelvoorde) a second rate actor, who has been engaged mostly as an extra in many films (playing dead people) and is currently down on his luck after causing an accident that resulted in breaking the leg of actress Catherine Deneuve (his biggest role so far). It is revealed that he left the village because he was regarded as strange and because his father was an eccentric scientist who died in trying a flying suit. He feels uneasy at coming back to his hometown but also recognizes that he cannot afford not to, so he uses his limited showbiz knowledge to train the local girls. Meanwhile, the inhabitants of Upper- Charmoussey have learned from the local postman that Franck has been engaged in training the contestants and start a counter espionage campaign of their own.

Like its predecessor Watership Down, Martin Rosen directed and adapted The Plague Dogs into an animated feature film, which was released in 1982. Unlike the book, there is the implication that the Tod might still be alive in the movie; a hunter who found him says he and the others "caught" a fox, this could imply the Tod is merely playing dead. In contrast to the ending in all published editions of the book—which describes the dogs being rescued from the sea, cleared of carrying the plague, and united with Snitter's lost master—the film ends the way Adams first envisioned (before being prevailed upon by his editor and others who read his original manuscript), with the dogs swimming out to sea, hoping to find what Snitter calls "The Isle of Dog" in the novel (though Rowf grimly speculates that it's probably The Isle of Man). After swimming for a while, Snitter eventually comes to the conclusion that he imagined the island.
