According to the La Crosse Area Planning Committee's 2030 Metropolitan Area Transit Plan, the route may not remain Highway 157 forever. The plan suggests that following the completion of an extension project on U.S. Highway 53 (planned for 2012-2015), the Main Street portion will become a local street, with the rest becoming part of Highway 53.

Cobham Air Routes started to plan the route linking the Isles of Scilly to the mainland in 1935. Cobham was subsequently acquired by Olley Air Service, whose subsidiary Channel Air Ferries developed the Land's End airport and started a service to the island of St Mary's on 15 September 1937, flying de Havilland Dragons. A hangar was brought from Squires Gate Airport in Blackpool. On St Mary's, until its own airport opened in 1939, the planes landed on the golf course.

Osborn was given the award. During the early planning for Operation Chastise, Guy Gibson sought Pickard's help to plan the route for the mission. 617 Squadron's commander valued Pickard's knowledge and experience, and he was able to provide Gibson with details of the position of the German flak batteries.

The English engineer George W. Buck was commissioned to plan the route. Russell During the 1865 campaign in the Laramie Mountains in Wyoming (known then as the Black Hills), while escaping from a war-party, Dodge realized he had found a pass for the Union Pacific Railroad, west of the Platte River. In May 1866, he resigned from the military and, with the endorsement of Generals Grant and Sherman, became the Union Pacific's chief engineer and thus a leading figure in the construction of the Transcontinental Railroad. Dodge's job was to plan the route and devise solutions to any obstacles encountered.

The tracks are planned to be laid within the median strip of Interstate 15, and sections would pass through federal land controlled by the Bureau of Land Management and National Park Service. The line is not planned to stop at intermediate cities, and would take 84 minutes to complete a one-way trip between Victorville and Las Vegas. While plans at first called for a fully double- track railway along the route, moving to the highway median led Brightline to revise the project and instead operate largely as a single track with passing sidings. In the original plan, the route did not extend into Los Angeles due to the high cost of building rail in urban areas.
