Maaf Mahalleh (, also Romanized as Ma‘āf Maḩalleh; also known as Mīr Maḩalleh and Mīr Maḩalleh va Mo‘āf Maḩalleh) is a village in Rud Pish Rural District, in the Central District of Fuman County, Gilan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 277, in 83 families.

The people of Sareshkeh are Gilak and Gileki with Bie-pish dialect is spoken in Sareshkeh. All of the people in Sareshkeh are Shi'a muslims. The people of Sareshkeh for many centuries endorsed the advancement of literacy and science. Sareshkeh's rice is sold all over the country.

Deh Pish-e Olya (, also Romanized as Deh Pīsh-e ‘Olyā; also known as Deh Pīsh and Deh Pīsh-e Bālā) is a village in Nakhlestan Rural District, in the Central District of Kahnuj County, Kerman Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 576, in 107 families.

Maneh District () is a district (bakhsh) in Maneh and Samalqan County, North Khorasan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 26,459, in 6,273 families. The District has one city: Pish Qaleh. The District has two rural districts (dehestan): Atrak Rural District and Shirin Su Rural District.

Bagh Pish-e Badamak (, also Romanized as Bāgh Pīsh-e Bādāmak; also known as Bādāmak-e Bāgh Pīshī) is a village in Miyankuh-e Gharbi Rural District, in the Central District of Pol-e Dokhtar County, Lorestan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 29, in 5 families.

Arakht is a village in Badakhshan Province in north-eastern Afghanistan. It is located between Lake Shiva and the Panj River, at an elevation of near the Tajikistan border. It lies from Pish, from Wishtayn, from Gordzhak and from Ghar Javin. The nearest airport is away across the border at Khorog.

Deh Pish-e Sofla (, also Romanized as Deh Pīsh-e Soflá; also known as Deh-e Pīsh Pā’īn and Deh Pīsh-e Pā’īn) is a village in Eslamabad Rural District, in the Central District of Jiroft County, Kerman Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 1,066, in 197 families.

The Central District of Fuman County () is a district (bakhsh) in Fuman County, Gilan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 81,449, in 21,913 families. The District has one city: Fuman. The District has four rural districts (dehestan): Gasht Rural District, Gurab Pas Rural District, Lulaman Rural District, and Rud Pish Rural District.

The Kar-Kiya dynasty, or Kia dynasty, was a Zaydi Shia dynasty which ruled over Bia pish (eastern Gilan) from the 1370s to 1592. They claimed Sasanian ancestry as well.Lahijan was the dynasty's capital. The Karkiya dynasty helped Shah Ismail I to establish the Safavid Empire and later became a vassal state of the empire.

At the 2006 census, its existence was noted, but its population was not reported.

Deh Pish-e Olya (, also Romanized as Deh Pīsh-e ‘Olyā; also known as Deh-e Pīsh Bālā, Deh-e Pīsh-e Bālā, and Deh Pīsh-e Bālā) is a village in Eslamabad Rural District, in the Central District of Jiroft County, Kerman Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 583, in 110 families.

His first roles with the company were Luiz in The Gondoliers and the small role of Second Yeoman in The Yeomen of the Guard. When Alan Styler temporarily left D'Oyly Carte later that year, Skitch began to share the larger role of Giuseppe in The Gondoliers and added to his repertory the roles of Archibald Grosvenor in Patience, Strephon in Iolanthe and Pish-Tush in The Mikado.Bourne, R. Pish Osta (, also Romanized as Pīsh Ostā; also known as Kūh-e Pīshostā, Pīshāsīāb, Pīsh Asīāb, Pīsh Āsyāb, Pīsh Ostād, Sar Āsīāb, Sar-e Āsīāb, and Sar-i-Āsīāb) is a village in Pa Qaleh Rural District, in the Central District of Shahr-e Babak County, Kerman Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 113, in 36 families.

Organization of Iranian People's Fedai Guerrillas–Majority Left Wing (PIPFG–MLW) was a small pro-minority circle within the majority faction of the Iranian communist party Fedai Guerrillas. It was formed in April 1980, but decided to remain in the majority faction and published its position in the internal bulletin Be Pish (). Following expel of its leader from the central committee, it broke away from the majority faction in October 1980.

Pish pash was defined by Hobson-Jobson as "a slop of rice-soup with small pieces of meat in it, much used in the Anglo-Indian nursery". The term was first recorded by Augustus Prinsep in the mid 19th century. The name comes from the Persian pash-pash, from pashidan, to break. A version of the dish is given in The Cookery Book of Lady Clark of Tillypronie of 1909.

Anglo-Indian cuisine is the cuisine that developed during the British Raj in India. Anglo-Indian cuisine was brought to England in the 1930s by the Veeraswamy restaurant, followed by a few others, but not by typical Indian restaurants. The cuisine introduced dishes such as kedgeree, mulligatawny and pish pash to English palates. One of the few Anglo-Indian foods that has had a lasting impact on English cuisine is chutney.

Styler's roles recorded with D'Oyly Carte included Pish-Tush (1950, 1958), Giuseppe (1950, 1961), Strephon (1952, 1960), Grosvenor (1952), Cox (1961), and a role he never played on stage with the company, Doctor Daly in The Sorcerer (1966). Of his first recording as Giuseppe, reviewer Raymond Walker wrote that he "has a voice of ... rounded tone, good diction, never sounds forced and generally captivates interest. Styler's rendering of 'Rising Early in the Morning' is everything it should be."Walker, Raymond.

Eta Geminorum is the star's Bayer designation. The traditional names Tejat Prior, Propus (from the Greek, meaning forward foot) and Praepes and Pish Pai (from the Persian Pīshpāy, پیش‌پای, meaning foreleg). In 2016, the International Astronomical Union organized a Working Group on Star Names (WGSN) to catalog and standardize proper names for stars. The WGSN's first bulletin of July 2016 included a table of the first two batches of names approved by the WGSN; which included Propus for this star.

Laki; (, ) is a vernacular that constitutes of two dialects; Pish-e Kuh Laki and Posht-e Kuh Laki. Laki is considered a Kurdish dialect, by most linguists, while others argue that Laki is closely related to Kurdish but refrain from deciding its place among the Northwestern Iranian languages. Laki has also been classified as a Lur dialect, but speakers of Luri claim that Laki is "difficult or impossible to understand". Linguist Shahsavari argues that Laki is sometimes seen as 'a transitional dialect between Kurdish and Luri'.

Yulqoli Beg Zu'l-Qadr () was a Turkoman military officer from the Zu'l-Qadr family, and was one of the trusted men of the Safavid shah Tahmasp I (r. 1524–1576). In the mid-1560s, Yulqoli Beg Zu'l-Qadr, together with a group of other Safavid officers, were sent on a diplomatic mission to Rasht, in order to negotiate peace with the Kia'i ruler of Bia-pish (eastern Gilan), Khan Ahmad Khan. In June 1567, however, Khan Ahmad Khan had Yulqoli killed and his head sent to him.

Leslie Rands was born in Chichester, England. He performed in the Chichester Cathedral choir and studied at the Royal School of Music before joining the D'Oyly Carte touring company in 1925 as a chorister. In 1926 he played Cox in Cox and Box, Samuel in The Pirates of Penzance, Sir Richard Cholmondeley, the Lieutenant of the Tower, in The Yeomen of the Guard, and Giuseppe (or, occasionally, Luiz) in The Gondoliers. In 1927, he added the role of Pish-Tush in The Mikado to his repertoire.

Shah Abbas arrived in Lahijan a few days later, where he had Khan Ahmad Khan's palace totally destroyed, and appointed Mehdi Qoli Khan Shamlu as the governor of Bia-pish, while Ali Beg Soltan was appointed as the governor of Bia-pas. Khan Ahmad Khan's former vizier Khvajeh Masih Gilani, who had earlier fled to the Safavid court, played a major role in the invasion of Gilan, and was for that awarded with the title of rish-safīd ("the elder") of Bia-pish. A few years later—in 1594/5—the Safavid grand vizier Hatem Beg Ordubadi, together with a group of administrators and accountants, were sent to Gilan, where they improved the structure of tax charge and contribution, which, supposedly, was done at the demand of the residents who were discontent with the oppressive governorship of Mehdi Qoli Khan Shamlu. More likely, however, this reform took place due to the economic capability the province offered—its rich silk manufacture, tea, caviar, and lumber encouraged Abbas I to dispatch his most prominent officers to overhaul the economic system of the province in a just approach.

With Columbia, in 1931, Baker recorded Gondoliers (Don Alhambra and Giuseppe (part)); Yeomen (Sergeant Meryll and Wilfred Shadbolt); and Iolanthe (Lord Chancellor). On the Sir Malcolm Sargent/Glyndebourne series, he recorded: 1958 Pinafore (Sir Joseph Porter); 1959 Iolanthe (Lord Chancellor); 1961 Pirates (Major-General); 1961 Trial (The Learned Judge); 1963 Patience (Bunthorne); and 1963 Ruddigore (Robin Oakapple).

During the Safavid dynasty, because of Kia'is help to Ismail I, the region gained more autonomy and Khan Ahmad Khan was the most famous governor of Biah Pish. Later because of this autonomy, Shah Ismail feared and captured Khan Ahmad Khan, who was imprisoned during 1567-1677. After Shah Ismail's death, his successor freed Khan Ahmad. He married the daughter of Tahmasp I. In 1591, Khan Ahmad tried to get help from the Russian empire to overcome the Safavids, but the central government recognized this and finally Abbas I of Persia conquered Gilan.

Much of Enfant Bastard's work is famously lo-fi being recorded in accordance with what he has called the 'bedroom recordist manifesto'. This approach led to the NME describing his work as 'snobby art- school jazz pish'. Much of his output was released in small runs of hand-made CD-R's, before later being given wider release by independent Edinburgh label SL Records. His often chaotic live shows have also been highly praised, with The Scotsman naming his EP launch for Master Dude as one of their gigs of 2010.

Map of northern Iran Khan Ahmad Khan's father, Soltan-Hasan Kiya, died in 1538 because of plague. Khan Ahmad Khan, who was only an infant at the time of his father's death, was thereafter crowned as the new king of the Karkiya dynasty of Bia-pish (eastern Gilan). He was shortly given Bia-pas (western Gilan), thus becoming the ruler of whole Gilan. However, the brutality of the Karkiya army in Bia-pas made its inhabitants invite a certain Amira Shahrok to become the ruler of Bia-pas.

From 1966, he understudied the roles of Giuseppe in The Gondoliers (taking that role as his own the following season) and Captain Corcoran in H.M.S. Pinafore. He also played the Sergeant of Police in The Pirates of Penzance in some seasons.

A pish is an imitated bird call (usually a scold or alarm call) used by birders and ornithologists to attract birds (generally passerines). The action of making the sound is known as pishing or spishing. This technique is used by scientists to increase the effectiveness of bird diversity surveys, and by birders to attract species that they might not otherwise see. Pishing is used most effectively in the Holarctic, where it is thought to work due to its similarity to the scold calls of tits and chickadees (birds in the family Paridae).

Khudoyor Yusufbekovich Yusufbekov was born on December 10, 1928 in Pish, a village in Darmorakht subdistrict of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) in the Tajik ASSR, USSR in the family of a kolkhoz member-gardener. He was 10 years old when his mother passed away. After finishing the seventh grade school in his village, he worked as a kolkhoz farmer and as a laborer in the construction of a road (1945—1946). In 1949, he graduated the Kirov secondary school in Khorog, and in 1949—1954, he studied in Tajik Agricultural Institute.

Each night at the fashionable Pish Posh restaurant, she watches glittery movie actresses, princesses, and celebrities and decides who is important enough to stay...and who she will kick to the sidewalk in disgrace. Lorestan region Western Luristan comprises a series of parallel fertile valleys running high in the Zagros mountains. The Pusht-i Kuh region is in the western foothills of the Kabir Kuh range. The Pish-i Kuh region lies to the east of Kabir Kuh. This area had human settlements during the Bronze Age as early as the mid–3rd millennium B.C. Tahmasp I, in order to reduce the power of Khan Ahmad Khan, who had shown signs of misbehaviour and had not been at the court for 20 years, appointed a son of Soltan Mahmud and a relative of his, Jamshid Khan, as the new ruler of Bia- pas. Furthermore, he also ordered Khan Ahmad Khan to give Kuchesfahan back to its former ruler Amira Sasan. Although Khan Ahmad Khan had accepted to cede Bia-pas, he refused to cede Kuchesfahan, which he claimed had always been a part of Bia-pish. This resulted in the latter rebelling.

For instance, in Pish-Tush's song "Our great Mikado, virtuous man", he sings: "The youth who winked a roving eye / Or breathed a non-connubial sigh / Was thereupon condemned to die – / He usually objected." The term for this rhetorical technique is meiosis, a drastic understatement of the situation. Other examples of this are when self- decapitation is described as "an extremely difficult, not to say dangerous, thing to attempt", and also as merely "awkward". When a discussion occurs of Nanki-Poo's life being "cut short in a month", the tone remains comic and only mock-melancholy.

From 1953 through 1962, Styler regularly played Cox, the Counsel, Strephon, the Lieutenant, and Giuseppe. During several seasons, he also appeared as Pish-Tush and added the roles of Captain Corcoran in H.M.S. Pinafore and Florian in Princess Ida in 1957, and Samuel in The Pirates of Penzance in 1962. In the winter of 1962–1963, Styler fell ill again and left the company for several months. He returned in 1963, playing or sharing his old roles and, for several seasons, the Earl of Mountararat instead of Strephon in Iolanthe. After a lung operation in 1968, his doctor advised him to give up performing.

The musical was first produced at the Broadhurst Theatre on West 44th Street from March 23, 1939, to June 3, 1939, running for 85 performances. The original cast included Bill "Bojangles" Robinson as The Mikado; Frances Brock as Pitti-Sing; Rosa Brown as Katisha; Maurice Ellis as Pooh-Bah; Eddie Green as Ko-Ko; Rosetta LeNoire as Peep-Bo; James A. Lilliard as Pish-Tush; Bob Parrish as Nanki-Poo; Gwendolyn Reyde as Yum-Yum; Freddie Robinson as Messenger Boy; and Vincent Shields as Red Cap. The orchestrations were arranged by Charles L. Cooke, and the production was directed by Hassard Short. Choreography was by Truly McGee.

Living in Europe gave Lady Clark a detailed insight into Italian and French cooking – there are five recipes for Tartare sauce; and she was well informed about Anglo-Indian cookery, with dishes such as "Rabbit Pish-pash". Her approach was to ask her hostess or the cook how any interesting or unusual dish was made, and then to try out the recipe back at Tillypronie to ensure that it worked. After Lady Clark's death in 1897, her widower invited Catherine Frances Frere (1848–1921), daughter of Sir Henry Bartle Frere, to assemble them into a book, asking: Frere was born in Malcolm Peth, Bombay on 25 September 1848.

Phil Eaglesham and Richie Dempsey went on to be members of DeSalvo, along with Allan Stewart of Idlewild and Alex Grant, formerly of Idlewild. The band released their debut album on Mogwai's Rock Action Records in 2008.

Kirkby sang in some of the earliest recordings made of Gilbert and Sullivan operas, commencing in December 1906, by singing Pish-Tush and part or all of the roles of Ko-Ko and Pooh-Bah in the first recording of The Mikado for G&T.; This was initially released on single-sided gramophone records and then re-released on double-sided discs in 1912. In 1907 he sang Jack Point in The Yeomen of the Guard also for G&T.; Also in 1907 he made a number of recordings as part of a chorus called "The Sullivan Operatic Party" for both The Yeomen of the Guard and The Gondoliers, again for G&T.

Styler (r) as Giuseppe in The Gondoliers with Leonard Osborn Alan Arthur Styler (1 October 1925 – 1 September 1970) was an English opera singer, best known for his performances in baritone roles of the Savoy Operas with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company. After service in the Grenadier Guards during the Second World War, Styler joined D'Oyly Carte in 1947, where he spent his entire two-decade career. Some of his key roles were the Counsel in Trial by Jury, Strephon in Iolanthe, Pish-Tush in The Mikado, Giuseppe in The Gondoliers, Mr. Cox in Cox and Box, Grosvenor in Patience and the Lieutenant of the Tower, in The Yeomen of the Guard. He recorded most of these roles with the company.

He joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company chorus in 1947 and soon was assigned his first role, Antonio in The Gondoliers.Stone, David. Alan Styler, Who Was Who in the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, 24 August 2007, accessed 24 June 2014 In 1948, Styler was also given the small role of Second Yeoman in Yeomen of the Guard and was made an understudy for the "juvenile" Gilbert and Sullivan baritone roles. He began, in 1949, to fill in frequently as the Counsel in Trial by Jury (otherwise as the Associate), Strephon in Iolanthe, Pish-Tush in The Mikado, and Giuseppe in The Gondoliers and also to regularly play the roles of Mr. Cox in Cox and Box, and Grosvenor in Patience.

In Act I of the 1885 Gilbert and Sullivan opera The Mikado, the Emperor of Japan, having learned that the town of Titipu is behind on its quota of executions, has decreed that at least one beheading must occur immediately. In the dialogue preceding the song, three government officials, Pooh-Bah, Ko-Ko and Pish-Tush, discuss which of them should be beheaded in order to save the town from "irretrievable ruin". Pooh-Bah says that although his enormous "family pride" would normally prompt him to volunteer for such an important civic duty, he has decided to "mortify" his pride, and so he declines this heroic undertaking. He points out that since Ko-Ko is already under sentence of death for the capital crime of flirting, Ko-Ko is the obvious choice to be beheaded.

His television work includes writing episodes of Pokémon, co-writing and performing the theme song to Channel 4's Meet Ricky Gervais, and writing and presenting the documentary The Mystery of Rennes-le-Chateau (2006). He has written over forty books, including The Key to The Da Vinci Code (Crombie Jardine, 2005), Tish and Pish: How to be of a Speakingness like Stephen Fry (Summersdale, 2005) and How to be a Writer (Summersdale, 2013). His debut novel, The Sphinx Scrolls (Headline Accent, 2016), was followed by a series of light-hearted novels and novellas all featuring a Bertie Wooster influenced hero, Ratty Ballashiels. The works include: The Sphinx Swindle (Headline Accent, 2017); The Dali Diaries (Headline Accent, 2017); The Genesis Glitch (Headline Accent, 2017); The Chaplin Conspiracy (Headline Accent, 2018).

Damad () is a great valley in which many villages are populated and attributed to the Zaid bin Yazid ibn al-Harith ibn 'Ula ibn Jahl ibn Madh'hij. Hobbs joined the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company in 1914, taking over many of the roles played by the departing Sydney Granville, including Colonel Calverley in Patience, Lord Mountararat in Iolanthe, Arac in Princess Ida, Pish-Tush in The Mikado, Richard Cholmondeley in The Yeomen of the Guard and Luiz in The Gondoliers. He soon added to his repertory the parts of Counsel to the Plaintiff in Trial by Jury, the Boatswain in H.M.S. Pinafore, and Samuel in The Pirates of Penzance. In 1916, he was given the role of Sir Marmaduke Pointdextre in the company's new production of The Sorcerer, giving up Luiz. Later that year, he swapped some of his smaller roles for larger ones: the Boatswain for Dick Deadeye in Pinafore, Samuel for the Pirate King in Pirates and Cholmondeley for Sergeant Meryll in Yeomen.

Beginning in 1928 Rands played the principal baritone parts of Counsel to the Plaintiff and later the Learned Judge in Trial by Jury, Doctor Daly in The Sorcerer, Captain Corcoran in H.M.S. Pinafore, occasionally the Pirate king in Pirates, Archibald Grosvenor (and occasionally Colonel) in Patience, Strephon in Iolanthe, Florian in Princess Ida, Pish-Tush, Cholmondeley and Giuseppe. Leslie Rands left the D'Oyly Carte company in 1947, but in 1949, he and his wife joined former D'Oyly Carters Richard Walker, Helen Roberts, John Dean, and others for a tour of Australia and New Zealand with the J. C. Williamson Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, where he appeared as Mountararat and the Mikado. Upon his return to England, he was reunited with his former colleagues to sing Captain Corcoran and the Counsel for the Plaintiff on the Company's 1949 Decca LP recordings of Pinafore and Trial. In 1952, Rands and Eyre played the Earl of Essex and Jill-All-Alone in a week's run of Merrie England for charity in Priory Park, Chichester.
