A Chorus of Disapproval is a 1989 British film adapted from the 1984 Alan Ayckbourn play of the same title, directed by Michael Winner. Among the movie's cast are Anthony Hopkins, Jeremy Irons, Richard Briers, and Alexandra Pigg. The story follows a young widower, Guy Jones, as he joins an amateur operatic society that is putting on The Beggar's Opera. He rapidly progresses through the ranks to become the male lead, while simultaneously conducting liaisons with several of the female cast.

He was born at Dilston Park, near Corbridge, Northumberland, in January 1902 and died in November 1968.Billy Pigg, the Border Minstrel. Leader Sound, 1971: LEA 4006 He learned the instrument from several pipers including Tom and Henry Clough as well as Richard Mowat, but, according to Tommy Breckons, Batey of Stannington was his main teacher. Tommy later quoted Billy's reminiscences of the informal sessions at the Cloughs' and others: When he lived at Blagdon, he used to bike down to Clough's.

To kick off the new format, which he enthusiastically endorsed as a better fit for his audience, Stern stayed on the air until 1:06 p.m. that day playing music. The first song Stern played was Marilyn Manson's cover of "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)". WXRK's Format Change to Modern Rock - 1/5/96 Most of the classic rock DJs, including Jimmy Fink, Tony Pigg and Marc Coppola, disappeared from the station with this change, as did The Greaseman.

Bleak Hill is a historic plantation house and farm located close to the headwaters of the Pigg River near Callaway, Franklin County, Virginia. Replacing a house that burned in January 1830, it was built between 1856 and 1857 by Peter Saunders, Junior, who lived there until his death in 1905. Later the house, outbuildings, and adjoining land were sold to the Lee family. The main house is the two-story, three bay, double pile, asymmetrical brick dwelling in the Italianate style.

The species holotype was collected by Robert Rosé and is part of the Florida Museum of Natural Historys collections in Gainesville, Florida. The fossils were studied by paleobotanists Steven Manchester, Kathleen Pigg, and Melanie DeVore with their 2019 type description being published in the journal Fossil Imprint. The etymology of the specific name rosayi is a patronym honoring Robert Rosé. In addition to T rosayi Manchester et al provided descriptions of the coeval species Trochodendron postnastae and the related trochodendraceous species Concavistylon kvacekii.

The species was described from a type specimen, the holotype leaf, number SR 09-30-07, and a group of five paratype specimens. The type series specimens are currently preserved in the paleobotanical collections of the Stonerose Interpretive Center in Republic, Washington. The specimens were studied by paleobotanists Soon Flynn and Kathleen Pigg of Arizona State University with Melanie DeVore of Georgia College and State University. They published their 2019 type description for R. boothillensis in the International Journal of Plant Sciences.

The book contains recipes for dishes for first courses (most vegetable-based, not meat- based, despite Cosentino's specialty), but also includes philosophy and reproduced handwritten notes and sketches. It is laid out by seasons. In March 2012, Cosentino partnered with Adam Fleischman and opened PIGG, "a tribute to all things pork around the world", at UMAMIcatessen in Los Angeles. UMAMIcatessen is a three-part cafeteria-style dining establishment on the ground floor of the Orpheum Lofts at 9th and Broadway.

One involves Bliss's love interest, a lanky young rock guitarist and singer named Oliver (Landon Pigg) whom she meets via her exposure to roller derby.

In their type description they note the etymology for the generic name is in honor of Wesley C. Wehr for his numerous contributions to Tertiary paleobotany of western North America. The specific epithet yakimaensis, is a reference to the type locality in the Yakima Canyon. Pigg and Rothwell noted the similarity between Wessiea and both the modern genus Diplazium and the fossil genus Makotopteris. The second species is known from ironstones of the Campanian age Horseshoe Canyon Formation, Alberta, recovered at the "Fred's site" locality.

The plants and animals are preserved in a finely layered light greenish-gray lacustrine shale as compression-impression fossils. Pigg et al noted in 2007 that one leaf assignable to Tetracentron had been found in the Klondike Mountain Formation of Republic, Washington, but was not complete enough to confidently attribute it to T. hopkinsii. The recovery of additional leaves deposited in the Stonerose Interpretive Center allowed Manchester et al to assign the Republic flora specimens to T. hopkinsii in 2018, expanding the confirmed distribution of the species.

In a petition for release to the justices of Bury he declared his "detestation of the proceedings of Browne, Harrison, and their favourers". Before the next assizes he conformed; and after some further minor troubles was discharged. In 1587, at a meeting held at Cambridge, under the presidency of Thomas Cartwright to promote church discipline, Pigg and William Dyke were nominated superintendents of the Puritan ministers for Hertfordshire. In 1589 he seems to have preached in Dorchester, Dorset, and in 1591 was in London.

During the 1950s Forster Charlton recorded his playing on many occasions; some of these can be heard on Radio FARNE. In 1958 Royce Wilson, an American working in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, acquired a tape recorder and made some recordings of him. Other recordings were made by the BBC and by the School of Scottish Studies. An album of selected recordings made by Forster Charlton was issued as Billy Pigg, the Border Minstrel on the Leader label in 1971, and re-released on CD in 2004.

It is possible to compare his style with that of Tom Clough. The popular variation set for Northumbrian pipes Holey Ha'penny which is based on a simpler tune known elsewhere in the UK and Ireland as The Chorus Jig, was recorded by Pigg, and Tom Clough in the 1920s. The contrast between the two styles can easily be heard between these recordings. The more open-fingered style was very successful for Pigg's music, allowing him a greater range of expression than a more traditional style.

Many other fine tunes have been attributed to him, but these include some he cannot possibly have written. Another local composer, in the later 19th century, was the fiddler and dancing master Robert Whinham, some 60 of whose compositions survive, notably the hornpipe 'Remember Me', and 'Whinham's Reel'. In the early- and mid-twentieth century, influential fiddlers included Ned Pearson, Jim Rutherford, Adam Gray, George Hepple and Jake Hutton, father of the noted piper Joe Hutton. John Armstrong of Carrick played with the piper Billy Pigg.

Miller, p. 124. She worked for the short- lived WQIV-FM in 1974, and began at WPLJ-FM in the following year. Her evening show was part of a talent roster on WPLJ that proved very successful, and included Tony Pigg, Pat St. John, and John Zacherle, and Jim Kerr. One of Miller's favorite musical artists is Bruce Springsteen, and while she was at WPLJ she became the very public voice of a drive to make "Born to Run" the New Jersey state anthem.

Despite their differing personal piping styles, Mowat and the Cloughs often played together in sessions at 'The Willow Tree' and the Cloughs' home. Billy Pigg learned from Mowat as well as from the Cloughs. In 1906, Mowat was one of the pipers who played on the occasion of the King's visit to the Duke of Northumberland at Alnwick Castle; the others were Henry and Tom Clough, and the Duke's piper, James Hall. Mowat was chairman of the Northumbrian Pipers' Society from 1933 until his death in 1936.

Frank, originally a guest character, came to Brookside Close in November 1982 as a friend of Gavin (Danny Webb) and Petra Taylor (Alexandra Pigg), and helped them move into Number 10. Following Gavin's death from a brain aneurysm, Frank and Barry Grant (Paul Usher) helped Petra cope with Gavin's death. "If you think this guy has no talent you know nothing". A club remix of the single "The Only Thing," produced by legendary DJ Richard Cutmore was released in 2011 and "The Only Thing" won the 2012 OutMusic Award for "Pop Song of the Year." In March 2012, Alsup was invited to perform at the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York City. The following month he was invited by Yamaha to showcase alongside Vanessa Carlton, Jon McLaughlin, and Landon Pigg at Yamaha's annual entertainment conference, hosted by the comedian Sinbad (entertainer).

Since the Disney characters on the cards appeared to be exactly 'on-model', Hartman asked the studio to create a local version of the English- language Mickey Mouse Weekly. In 1937 L'Ateljé Dekoratör began publishing Musse Pigg Tidningen (Mickey Mouse Magazine), which had high production values and spanned 23 issues; most of the magazine's content came from local producers, while some material consisted of reprints from Mickey Mouse Weekly. Though described as a single species, Pigg et al noted the wide grade of variation in the involucre morphology, ranging from simple to ones with extensive spines. The involucres also show a spectrum from thin, leafy lobes that display distinct veins to thick lobes with no distinct venation. As specimens of C johnsonii have a full morphology range between the three involucre types, the possibility of multiple species is hard to prove or disprove. However the authors chose to name a single species because of the continuous gradation present between the distinct morphologies.

Carlisle were elected to the Football League Third Division North in 1928 replacing Durham City. They won their first game in the league, the side of Prout, Coulthard, Cook, Harrison, Ross, Pigg, Agar, Hutchison, McConnell, Ward and Watson beating Accrington Stanley 3–2. In 1949, the club had the distinction of being the first club to appoint Bill Shankly as their manager. In the northwest of Eswatini, gold was discovered, drawing a large number of miners and settlers in the area. Leader Records was a British folk music record label, started by Bill Leader. Between 1969 and 1978, Leader released many important releases of both traditional and folk revival performers, the latter category including Nic Jones, Martin Simpson and Dick Gaughan. Moore and Caine play dual roles—a pair of small-time con-men and a pair of inept nuclear physicists who believe they have invented a limitless supply of energy. They published their 2019 type description for R. boothillensis in the International Journal of Plant Sciences. The etymology of the chosen specific name garwellii is a patronym honoring Gar Rothwell recognizing his excitement and dedication for paleobotany.

The species holotype was originally collected during the 1950's by Eleanor Gordon Thompson and donated to the University of California Museum of Paleontology in Berkeley, California as specimen UCMP 201235. An additional series of leaves collected by Robert Rosé and part of the Florida Museum of Natural Historys collections in Gainesville, Florida were also studied, but not included in the type series. The fossils were studied by paleobotanists Steven Manchester, Kathleen Pigg, and Melanie DeVore with their 2019 type description being published in the journal Fossil Imprint. The etymology of the specific name postnastae is a reference to the older Ypresian age Trochodendron nastae which it resembles.

Donna left the series after the first story, which was continued as Donald and Mac, Donald Duck and Donald Duck with Mac for the next three years, ending in issue #222 (4 May 1940). The magazine also featured reprints of Floyd Gottfredson's Mickey Mouse comic strip continuities in full color on the back cover. As the American Mickey Mouse Magazine inspired Mickey Mouse Weekly, the new publication inspired more European spinoffs, including Switzerland's Micky Maus Zeitung (1936-37) and Sweden's Musse Pigg Tidningen (1937-38), which used Haughton's covers and other British material. Pigg lead a fund- raising campaign to commemorate the fallen after the war, with an organ and plaque being erected in the school hall in 1924. Ryhope Grammar School became one of the first schools in the country to offer Advanced Courses – the fore- runner of A Levels - in 1918, allowing pupils to study until the age of 18 and move on to university degrees. In the early 1930s, when Seaham Harbour Grammar School for Girls opened, Ryhope ceased to be co-educational. The school closed for several weeks following the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939, re- opening on a part-time basis with 21-minute lessons.

Liverpudlian actress Alexandra Pigg was originally cast in the role of Kochanski, but was unavailable for new recording dates following an electrician's strike, so the part then went to Glaswegian actress and lead singer of the new wave band Altered Images, Clare Grogan. Stage manager Donna DiStefano briefly portrays Kochanski near the end of "Stasis Leak" (1988). In a behind the scenes interview on the Bodysnatcher DVD set, DiStefano says that Clare Grogan had only been scheduled to appear in the pre-recorded scenes and not in the studio scenes. DiStefano has no lines, and her face is mostly obscured by the brim of a hat.

The description of this species by paleobotanists Kathleen Pigg, Steven Manchester, and Wesley Wehr was based on the study of thirty-four compression fossil specimens found at the UWBM sites B4131 and A0307, the latter being designated the type locality. The specimens are twelve infructescences with attached involucres containing nuts or nut casts, fourteen involucres, and eight isolated paired or single nuts. The holotype specimen is number "SR 98-01-02 A&B;", an infructescence with involucre, and is housed in the Stonerose Interpretive Center in Republic, Washington. The species epithet johnsonii was coined in honor of Kirk R. Johnson for his continuing work on, and recognition of the importance of, the Republic Flora.

Description of the new species by Dr. Kathleen Pigg, Richard Dillhoff, Melanie DeVore and Wesley Wehr was based on the study of a single complete fruiting structure specimen. The holotype fossil, number "UWBM 97819", being housed in the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, Seattle, Washington. They published their 2007 type description of the species in the International Journal of Plant Sciences volume number 168 and named the species drachukii in honor of Robert Drachuck in recognition for his finding and donation of the type specimen for study. The holotype was recovered from an Ypresian age unnamed formation outcropping at the McAbee Fossil Beds near Cache Creek, BC, which is designated the type locality.

The Allenby Formation is part of the Eocene Okanogan Highlands floras which span from the Klondike Mountain Formation in Ferry County, Washington north west to Driftwood Canyon Provincial Park near Smithers, British Columbia. The specimens were studied by paleobotanists Melanie L. DeVore and Steven M. Moore of Georgia College and State University, Kathleen B. Pigg of Arizona State University and Wesley C. Wehr of the Burke Museum. Melanie DeVore and coauthors published the 2004 type description for N. dunthornei in the journal Rhodora. Melanie DeVore and coauthors chose the specific name dunthornei, in honor of Peter Dunthorne of Sedro-Woolley, Washington in recognition of the collecting work throughout the Okanagan highlands which he helped and participated with.

Pigg graduated from Cambridge University in 1879 with a Bachelor of Arts degree; this was converted to a Master of Arts in 1885. He appeared in first-class cricket matches at the Hastings end-of-season cricket festival from 1886 to 1891, and these included several games in the North v South and Gentlemen v Players series, though he did not play in any of the "major" London-based fixtures. In 1886, he scored 59 and took four second innings wickets when a South team played the Australians. And in 1889 he took seven second innings wickets for 55 runs (and 11 for 112 in the match) as the Gentlemen beat the Players by one wicket.

While Shirleya has a number of features that are similar to Lagerstroemia, there are also several distinct features. The fruits have a thicker pericarp that is similar to the genera Duabanga and Sonneratia which have berry-like fruits, but Shirleya fruits were dehiscent, unlike the berry- like fruits, as indicated by several isolated silicified fruit valves. The seeds in Shirleya fruits develop near the tops of the fruit gynoecium with wings extending down towards the gynoecium base, while in Lagerstroemia the seeds develop in reverse position, with the wing extending from the seed towards the top of the gynoecium. These differences lead Pigg and DeVore to place the fossils in a new genus.

Description of the new species by Dr. Kathleen B. Pigg, Wesley Wehr, and Stefanie Ickert-Bond was based on the study of 11 complete and 55 partial compression fossil specimens with the holotype specimen, number "SR 98-02-01", being housed in the Stonerose Interpretive Center, Republic, Washington. They published their 2001 type description of the species in the International Journal of Plant Sciences volume number 162. and named the species nastae in honor of Charlotte G. Nast for her work on extinct and living members of the Trochodendrales. T. nastae has been placed in the genus Trochodendron based on the overall shape of the leaves, the secondary vein structure, which forms weak chevrons bracing primary veins, and the tertiary veins forming four to five sided cells.

He was a regular in the teams that finished fifth and second in his first two seasons, and after Carlisle's election to the Third Division North, the opinion of the Athletic News season preview was that "last season's half-backs, Harrison, Ross and Pigg, are sure to be in harness again". All three played in Carlisle's first match in the Football League, and Harrison went on to appear in 28 of Carlisle's 42 Northern Section matches, as well as in the FA Cup ties. According to a newspaper profile ahead of the FA Cup first round, "he is not a great constructive player, but is a rare tackler." He was retained for the following season, but appeared only in the reserves.

On weekends, the station retained a hard rock music format with live announcers, including Tony Pigg, and Tom Rich, both of whom were held over from prior to the introduction of the Hot Talk format. In 2000, Viacom acquired CBS/Infinity Broadcasting, keeping the radio division under the "Infinity" banner. By 2002, WNEW added brokered programming on weekends and stopped playing music altogether, with the exception of Eddie Trunk's Friday and Saturday night hard rock-oriented shows, as well as Vin Scelsa's Idiot's Delight. On September 11, 2001, "Opie and Anthony" did their show live from the WLIR studios because of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, which caused city officials to block all roads going into Manhattan.

46-47 In 1820, the three Saunders brothers (one of whom married Jeremiah Early's daughter) purchased this and another furnace on Ferrum Creek from Calloway's heirs; by 1836 the Washington mine and furnace employed 100 men, and produced 160 tons of iron annually.NRIS section 8 A nearby vein of high quality magnetite supplied this furnace, and horse-drawn wagons took the refined iron bars and castings down the Carolina Road to North Carolina and Alabama. Reportedly in 1850, a dam on Furnace Creek uphill of the furnace burst, and the resulting water flow cracked the hot furnace, which was not rebuilt by the Saunders family then operating it. The mine would continue operations until 1880; the Pigg River Mining Company shipped ore to Pennsylvania until costs proved too high.

Chantry-Pigg is said to have been based on John Herbert Cloete Twisaday, vicar of All Saints, Notting Hill. Thompson (ed), pp. 69–70: London, 2004 ) and The Unity of Christians: The Vision of Paul Couturier, Lunn, B.: Special Edition of 'The Messenger' of the Catholic League, 2003 at Catholic League In July 1937 Fr Fynes-Clinton, with two members of his congregation, travelled to Kirkwall to be present at the 800th anniversary celebrations of St Magnus Cathedral, Kirkwall. During their stay they visited Egilsay and were shown the spot where St Magnus had been slain.

In his response to one letter of protest from Walter Pigg, Dale distinguished his role at the event as "communication," and attempted to distance himself from the term "fellowship:" > My presence and participation in the program at St. Leo's was intended as > the seizing of an opportunity to communicate with some of my religious > neighbors with whom I do not share fellowship, but with whom I sincerely > seek more and better discussion. However, during his participation in the event Dale made no attempt to point out that he did not share fellowship with them. The same critic of Dale brought the issue up again in April 2001, following his appointment to the Board of Trustees of Freed-Hardeman University, aligning Dale with "liberal" figures such as Walt Leaver, Randy Harris, and F. LaGard Smith, and expressing disdain for the faculties of David Lipscomb University and Freed-Hardeman University.

As a cricketer he was a right-handed lower-order batsman and a right-arm round-arm slow bowler. He matriculated at Cambridge University in the autumn of 1875, but in the 1876 season his only first-class cricket match was for an England XI against the university side: he scored one run and took one wicket. He played for the university team in a handful of matches in 1877, 1878 and 1879, but at a time when the team could call upon the services of players such as A. G. Steel, A. P. Lucas and Ivo Bligh, plus a smattering of Lytteltons, he did not warrant a regular place and he was not picked for any of the University Matches against Oxford University. Pigg graduated from Cambridge University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1879; this converted to a Master of Arts in 1887.

The collection also includes two distinct variation set versions of Gingling Geordie, a tune which survives to this day as the long variation set for Northumbrian smallpipes Wylam Away. The tune I was young and lusty when I kent ye appears again, in a different mode and with variations for Border pipes, in the William Dixon manuscript from 40 years later; its title survives in the lyric of the song Sair fyel'd hinny, which is still sung in the region today, though to a different melody; the old tune does fit the lyric. Some 17 of the tunes are explicitly identified as 'Scotch', or have Scottish titles, while numerous others are also found in sources from north of the border. One of the tunes, an unnamed common-time Scots measure, appears again as the Shepherd's Hornpipe in Robert Bewick's manuscripts, where it seems to be derived from an Irish version, and it still remains current in Northumberland - Billy Pigg recorded a Scottish version of it, The Cairdin' o't.

"Young at Heart" is a pop standard, a ballad with music by Johnny Richards and lyrics by Carolyn Leigh. The song was written and published in 1953, with Leigh contributing the lyrics to what was originally a Richards instrumental called "Moonbeam". Frank Sinatra was the first performer to record the song, which became a million-selling hit in 1953 (and spilling over with popularity into 1954) where it reached the No. 2 spot in the Billboard charts. The song was such a hit that a movie that Sinatra was filming at the same time with Doris Day was renamed to match the song title, and the song was included in the opening and closing credits of the movie. Other performers who have recorded versions of "Young at Heart" include Bing Crosby (charting briefly in 1954 at the #24 spot), Rosemary Clooney (on her album "While we're Young"), Perry Como (on his 1960 album For the Young at Heart), Connie Francis (1961), Jimmy Durante (1963), Tony Bennett, Shawn Colvin, Bobby Vinton, Tom Waits, Barry Manilow (on his album The Greatest Songs of the Fifties), Bob Dylan, Gloria Estefan, Landon Pigg, Mark Vincent and Vonda Shepard, James Darren, Monty Alexander, and Michael Bublé (on his album To Be Loved).

The airstaff, which included Flo & Eddie from classic rock band The Turtles, became full of veterans from other New York rock stations, including Dave Herman, Pete Fornatale, Meg Griffin, Vin Scelsa, and Alison Steele from WNEW-FM, along with Jimmy Fink, Tony Pigg, Marc Coppola, and John Zacherle from WPLJ. In 1993, The Greaseman's syndicated show was put in the nighttime slot, bookending Stern with an act that was often quite controversial. By the mid-1990s, modern rock had become popular. In mid-1993, in New York City radio, WHTZ began to play a lot of modern rock despite primarily being a CHR station. Late in 1993, Classical music station WNCN switched formats and became WAXQ ("Q 104.3"), with a mix of hard and modern rock. Moreover, WNEW-FM switched to a modern rock format in the summer of 1995, and later evolved to first an adult-based modern rock format by the end of that year, and then to a more eclectic adult rock mix by 1996. Nevertheless, by the beginning of 1996, there was no full- time modern rock station in New York City. To fill the void, WXRK switched to an alternative leaning active rock format on January 5, 1996, right after Stern's show.
