The player cannot teleport to previous visited city and most area are cut off by rivers which the player crosses on ships only when the story permits, allowing the story in early part of the game follows closely to the source instead of the ability to take branching paths in the previous game. The capturing system in the previous game is removed and characters join the party following the story line. Once they joined, their maximum soldier count, which act as hit points in this game as well as affecting the result of a physical attack to the enemy, increases with the current level of the party.

The game uses a turn-based battle system, similar to the one used in Final Fantasy X. Only a maximum of three party members can fight in battle, with the character Mootie taking up a support role. In battle, party member commands are present on a dual-sided command ring, one side with the character's normal battle abilities and the other for summon special attacks. Lieutenants Kitten “Kitty” Kai- sung, a female human, and Porsupah, a male Tolian, have been sent by the Intelligence Arm of the United Church to Repler to investigate the newly re- established trade in the drug bloodhype (also known as "jaster", "silly salt", "brain-up", and "phinto") as the most deadly and addictive drug in and outside the Humanx Commonwealth.

" Hilton initially refused to apologize, saying, "I am saddened GLAAD chose to victimize me further by criticizing me for how I non-violently dealt with a very scary situation that, unfortunately, turned violent." Nesmsis's wings can also be used for additional defense and they seem to hold up extremely well against the Self-Immolation attacks, the name adopted for the exploding membranes, as witnessed in the final battle of Washington D.C. and the massive self-immolation of Ashtaroth that appeared to kills Nemesis. Nemesis is extremely resilient and has survived all manner of attacks from a GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast MOAB strike to the Kaiju Self-Immolation seen in any book whose blast rivals that of several nuclear explosions, to every type of physical attack the Kaiju can throw at her.

Cambridge University student Sandy Mardell (Rupert Friend) and son of Bryant's former commanding officer has only recently left hospital, though the thugs who scarred him for life in an unprovoked physical attack were released from prison before he had made his recovery.
