Diego has a wife, Juana de Miranda, and two little girls, Paquita and Ignacia. Juan's main job is to help his master with his work of painting: grinding the pigments, placing the paints on the palette, washing the brushes, and making the canvas frames. Although he is regularly present when Diego paints, Juan is not allowed to paint as he is a slave and the Spanish laws forbid it. Two students, Cristobal and Alvaro, join the household as Diego's apprentices.

Brandon Bird was born in 1980 in Carmichael, California, a suburb of Sacramento. He attended University of California, Santa Cruz and was an artist-in-residence from 2004–2006 at Risley Residential College at Cornell University. His most common medium is oil paints on canvas, but he has shown the ability to work with a multiplicity of artistic genres, including pen and ink and digital mediums. In 2013, Chronicle Books published a collection of his work, Brandon Bird's Astonishing World of Art.

Lind-Ramos paints on canvas with oil using traditional and uncommon applications techniques from brushes to spatulas. He also works with recycled or reused materials such as cardboard, wire screen, discarded appliances, car parts, the foliage of coconut palm trees, broken musical instruments and other used items. Al Saleh was born in 1988 in Dubai where her family lived in a home they built off of Sheikh Zayed Road. At the age of 8, she began painting with oil paints on canvas with the help of her aunt, who was also an artist. She received a degree in interior design from Zayed University in January 2010. She began painting images of bones and skeletons around the age of 16 after she had an X-ray taken on her back during a medical check-up.

Bans on TBT on boats less than 25 metres long first started in the 1980s. In 1990, the Marine Environment Protection Committee adopted Resolution MEPC 46(30), which recommended that the Government eliminate the use of TBT-containing antifouling paints on smaller vessels. This resolution was intended to be a temporary restriction until the International Maritime Organization could implement a ban of TBT anti-fouling agents for ships. Several countries followed, and in 1997 Japan banned the production of TBT- based anti-fouling paints.

In the beginning of the 1980s Gershuni abandoned "Post-minimalist" sculpture and the conceptual approach in order to create a series of paintings. Gershuni received encouragement for the continuation of his creative life within the framework of psychological therapy he was receiving during this period. In his first works from this period paint stains appeared in red or glittering purple, with blurry outlines, produced with glass paints on glossy paper. Next to the stains appeared short titles, such as "How Are You, Soldier" (1980).

She created this new subject matter appropriately with latex house paints on wood scraps retrieved from housing construction sites. In several instances her colons reappear, visiting the Gilded Age mansions of Newport, Rhode Island as witnesses to the destructive havoc of overwrought economic speculation. This time, however, the African carvings are literally hewn and glued to the scene, presumably to add materiality to the ephemeral luxuries of the super-rich. These paintings debuted in a 2014 exhibition entitled “Home Economics” at the Hudson Guild Gallery part of New York's oldest settlement house.

Nina Murdoch (born 1970) is a British painter, winner of the first Threadneedle Prize in 2008. Murdoch graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art followed by a postgraduate diploma at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Murdoch paints on large canvases using egg tempera on gesso, with a subject matter normally drawn from visits to the streets of South London. Each painting can be made of up to 100 layers of medium, added then scraped back, which restricts her output to between 8 and 10 paintings per year.

The artist also hand-colors and paints on film using inks and dyes. Her use of appropriated materials turns up in her remakes of commercials and other moving image collage pieces. She is frequently recycles old celluloid footage into new works and experiments with damaged cameras and equipment, expired film stocks and found footage. Among her earliest influences, and one that she attributes with having inspired the spiritual and aesthetic direction of her work, is Maya Deren an experimental filmmaker who worked in the United States during the 1940s and 50s.

According to scholars such as Eduardo Espinosa Campos, Cabrera's works are seen as drifting from the work of her contemporaries. She chose to explore portraiture rather than landscapes, gathering inspiration from the Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Fauvist movements. This can be seen through her use of broad brush strokes and unnatural colors, as well as her decision to portray the "spirit" and emotions of her subjects, rather than a more realistic depiction. For many of her works, Cabrera applied oil paints on canvas in a way that imitated the look of frescoes.

Edward Mason Eggleston, signature from artwork, 1919 Edward Mason Eggleston (22 November 1882 – 14 January 1941) was an American painter who specialized in calendar portraits of women, fashionable and fantastic. He was also a well known commercial illustrator doing work for companies such as the Fisk Tire Company, the Pennsylvania Railroad, and the Great Lakes Exposition. He attended the Columbus Art School in Columbus, Ohio and moved to New York about 1915, where he worked to illustrate magazine covers, travel posters, advertisements and calendars. He worked primarily with oil paints on canvas, and also with pastels, water colors, and gouache.

The Clinton Family Portrait's dimensions are 24 inches long by 36 inches wide and is painted with oil paints on canvas. The oil colors used are flesh, blue, yellow, and brown tones, as well as grays. It was created in Irving, Texas in early 1995 and was shipped to the White House in march or April of that same year. Lori Abrams, who was a spokeswoman in the White House correspondence department at that time, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram newspaper that, "We can't say exactly where it is, but its where they want it".

A study conducted in 1989 (reference 2) found that when given multiple photographs and paintings as potential decoration of the international space station. Test (crew) subjects all individually preferred those with naturalistic, irrespective themes, and a large depth of field. Other examples of human-centered design is using pastel paints on the International Space Station (ISS) to contrast and provide “up/down” cues in micro-g environments or the concept of dynamically and spatially adjusting lighting color and intensities to conform to daily and even seasonal biorhythms similar to earth to mitigate the societal separation effects experienced in space.

E.' The flesh tones are coloured by reddish tints over a pale ground, with the facial features accentuated using a bluish- grey tone. During the period circa 1780–1795, Engleheart developed his very distinctive style, with his draughtsmanship and use of colour becoming consistent and high quality. He still sometimes paints small sized miniatures, but he more frequently paints on ivories of around 2½ inches in height. His works are easily recognisable: he often portrays his sitters with deep eyes under strong eyebrows, together with a slightly lengthened nose, and the flesh colour of the face is painted using a brownish yellow tone.

In 2001, she received a scholarship from the Foundation Cultural Fund Berlin, Ahrenshoop and in 2005 she was awarded with the Hanna Nagel Prize. Her work has been shown in solo exhibitions among others at the Kunsthalle Bielefeld, Kunsthalle Mannheim, in the Orangerie at the Kunsthalle Karlsruhe, the shown Josef Albers Museum Quadrat in Bottrop, the , and at the Städtische Galerie Offenburg. The artist is concerned with the interaction of colour and can be situated in the tradition of colour field painting. She paints using highly diluted acrylic paints on wooden panels (panel paintings) and since 2018 on canvas.

Placht paints on mesquite wood which has been previously colored using the pigment from bark, vines and fruit from the neighboring plants. Placht is featured in a documentary "Painter of the Jungle", filmed using 16mm color film. It documents Placht's life in Peru: his family life in the Indian village; the tradition of creating Indian ceramics; the ritual of preparing and drinking "iahuaska"; his attempt of finding his place and creating the art therapy center in Peru. The film also presents aerial sequences of the forest from a Russian helicopter that, is still being used by the Peruvian army today.

Throughout his career and as long as he had the strength, Congdon put his entire self into the work, in the smells, the incisions, the scrapings of medium across the hard board. His use of materials and on the painting’s surface indicate that his early training in sculpture never left him. He applied oil paints on a prepared – often black - board with masonry tools, palette knives, awls and spatulas, as well as large brushes, practically until the end of his life. Finally, in some cases, he would blow gold or silver powder on to the wet paint.

Felice Varini (born in Locarno in 1952) is a Paris-based, Swiss artist who was nominated for the 2000/2001 Marcel Duchamp Prize. Mostly known for his geometric perspective-localized paintings in rooms and other spaces, using projector-stencil techniques, according to mathematics professor and art critic Joël Koskas, "A work of Varini is an anti-Mona Lisa." Felice paints on architectural and urban spaces, such as buildings, walls and streets. The paintings are characterized by one vantage point from which the viewer can see the complete painting (usually a simple geometric shape such as circle, square, line), while from other view points the viewer will see 'broken' fragmented shapes.

Cottingham works primarily with water-based paints on wood, on hardboard panels, and on paper. Describing her own work, Cottingham says, :::Although I could describe my subject matter as painting itself—that my goal is to complete a painting that makes sense to me formally, emotionally, intellectually—my work is always rooted in my experience of the woods, light and atmosphere of my childhood home. Embedded in each painting is the internalization of my physical environment. I am able to carry an experience of a particular landscape or location or sky or moment with me for a long time before it is released in a painting or series of paintings.

Broadhaven by Barbara Rae The Royal Academy of Arts' magazine RA has described Rae's works as "intense colour bursts that evoke dramatic landscapes but remain resolutely abstract", "distil[ling] the colour, light and forms of nature into dazzling visions". Rather than mixing paints on a palette, Rae applies unmixed acrylic paints to the canvas itself and then pours fluid over them to blend them. The bright colors of her paintings and prints diverge from the typical colors of Scottish art. Rae has said that she does not regard herself as a Scottish artist, though her "relationship with the landscape and history of the west coast of Scotland" has inspired much of her art.

In the early 1950s, Chevrolet became PMC's bread and butter client. At this time, PMC turned more serious in the promotional business, as Chevrolet demanded more precision in detail and application of actual company paints on its models – thus the toy-like colors and appearance of the International trucks was abandoned. PMC offered Chevrolet models from 1951 through 1958. The first Chevys offered in 1951 were in regular sedan as well as 'fastback' Fleetline versions. Previous to this, National Products and Banthrico had offered Chevy models (Automotive News 1949). The first Bel Airs were offered in 1953; a 4-door sedan and convertibles in several colors. A more basic smooth sided '53 Chevrolet 150 sedan was also offered (Clarence Young Autohobby). 1954 brought similar offerings.

Alsbrook's White Trash series challenges perceptions of the history of the American Civil War and associated class distinctions, by creating miniature portraits of 18th century historical figures in graphite and oil paints on a base of discarded pieces of trash. Her work was sparked in part by an interest in the tradition of miniature paintings on ivory, and also by the commentary about the historical biases in art by a friend who is a women's history professor. She began developing the series in 2004, while living in Charleston, South Carolina, producing over 600 paintings in the course of ten years. So far, her work has been featured in publications such as the Huffington Post Arts, Art Nerd, and Hi Fructose and is displayed in galleries around the United States.

He kept working on religious themes in 2000-2010: he painted the plafond of the chapel next to this monastery, as well as the large icon for the Diveyevo Convent. In his own words the artist's technique is based on the combination of methods employed in the old Russian icon painting, Russian artworks of the XVIII century, composition methods of the "Art world" and Russian constructivism. The art historian Eugene Steiner characterizes Remnev as one of the extraordinary contemporary artists who can paint carnation. Remnev uses medieval painting techniques and makes natural paints on the basis of egg yolk. In the mid-2010s, Remnev’s art took a new direction — he became interested in sketches from the life of contemporary Russian ballet dancers (carrying on the traditions of the “Silver age” artists).

Dunnett paints on a large historical canvas, with details based on meticulous research in hundreds of primary and secondary sources. In addition to their original characters, the novels feature a large number of historical figures, often in important roles. The historical setting is the incessant jockeying for power through treaties, alliances of convenience, political marriages, wars, and even piracy, among the English Tudors, the Holy Roman Empire of the Habsburgs, the French Valois, the Ottoman Empire of Suleiman the Magnificent, and their respective secular and religious allies, including the Stewarts of Scotland, the Knights of St. John, the corsairs of North Africa, and Tsar Ivan the Terrible of Russia. Each of the six books has several locations with the exception of the first, The Game of Kings, which takes place almost exclusively in the Scottish Lowlands and the borders with England.

Ballen describes that the "house" in these photographs is a place of a landlord who allowed birds he collected to fly all over the house, cage-less. Ballen writes: > "The house is full of birds, ducks, chickens, pigeons, doves, whatever, > different birds and they're all over the house, flying from one room to the > next...[t]he people that live in the house are people from different aspects > of the streets in South Africa—some people come from other places in Africa, > some are unemployed, some are products of poverty, violence and anything > else. I interacted with these birds and animals to create these > photographs." In The Theatre of the Apparitions (2016), inspired by the sight of hand-drawn carvings on blacked-out windows in an abandoned women's prison, Ballen (in conjunction with his artistic director Marguerite Rossouw) began to use different spray paints on glass and then 'drawing on' or removing the paint with a sharp object to let natural light through.
