During his later years in Los Angeles, McCracken played in several Dixieland revival groups, working with Ben Pollack, Pete Daily, Wild Bill Davison, and again with Teagarden, Ory, and Allen.
Ory Dessau Ory Dessau (Hebrew: אורי דסאו) is an art curator and critic, working and living in Tel Aviv, Israel. One of his renowned works, "Guess who died" , explored the image and physiognomy of Palestinian late president Yasser Arafat. From 2003 Dessau is working as an independent curator with different art institutes in Israel, such as Tel-Aviv Museum of Art, Ein Harod Museum of Art and Herzliya Museum for contemporary Art. On July 2007 Dessau was chosen to curate the annual "Omanut Haaretz" ("Art of the Country") exhibition at the Sukkot holiday in September .
When Ory was living on Jackson Avenue, he was discovered by Buddy Bolden, playing his first new trombone, instead of an old Civil War trombone. Ory's sister said he was too young to play with Bolden. Ory had one of the best-known bands in New Orleans in the 1910s, hiring many of the great jazz musicians of the city, including the cornetists Joe "King" Oliver, Mutt Carey, and Louis Armstrong, who joined the band in 1919;"Jazz Greats of the 1920s" University of Minnesota Duluth. They were the first jazz recordings made on the West Coast by an African-American jazz band from New Orleans, Louisiana. His band recorded with Nordskog Records; Ory paid Nordskog for the pressings and then sold them with his own label, "Kid Ory's Sunshine Orchestra", at Spikes Brothers Music Store in Los Angeles. In 1925, Ory moved to Chicago, where he was very active, working and recording with Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Oliver, Johnny Dodds, Bessie Smith, Ma Rainey, and many others. He mentored Benny Goodman and, later, Charles Mingus.

The All Star Jazz Group also included Ed Garland, Jimmie Noone (succeeded by Barney Bigard), Bud Scott, Zutty Singleton and Buster Wilson. Renamed Kid Ory's Creole Jazz Band, the group then made a significant series of recordings on the Crescent Records label.
The real Raoul de Coucy is believed to have died in the Siege of Acre The only comedy in the list, Rossini's Le comte Ory, recounts the attempts by Ory and his friends to seduce the Countess of Formoutiers and the women of her household while their men are away at the Crusades. Ory's ploy of dressing up as nuns to gain access to the women is foiled when the Crusaders return. Many of the libretti for the operas listed are based either directly or indirectly on Torquato Tasso's epic poem, La Gerusalemme liberata (Jerusalem Delivered), or on Voltaire's tragic play, Zaïre.
Ory was born in Develier, in the district of Delémont in the canton of Jura in Switzerland. He attended school in Delémont, and at the cantonal school in Porrentruy, then studied at the University of Geneva, graduating in physics in 1990. He trained as a scientific journalist at Cedos SA in Carouge, qualifying in 1992, then undertook teacher training at the Institut pédagogique in Porrentruy, qualifying as a secondary school teacher in 1994, then becoming a physics teacher at the cantonal school in Porrentruy, a position which he continues to hold in 2012. Ory is married and has two children.
Jenkins was born in the capital city of Baton Rouge to the late Louis E. "Ory" Jenkins, Sr., and the former Doris Laverne Rowlett (1922–2013), a native of Houston, Texas, who was reared in Shreveport and Alvin, Texas. Early in their married life, his parents operated a restaurant, Little Ory's Den in Ponchatoula in Tangipahoa Parish. Later Ory Jenkins was employed as an operator by Ethyl Corporation. Doris Jenkins worked in safety deposit at the American Bank on the Plank Road in Baton Rouge, a position from which she retired in 1982 after twenty-five years.
Ory started playing music with homemade instruments in his childhood, and by his teens was leading a well-regarded band in southeast Louisiana. He kept LaPlace, Louisiana, as his base of operations because of family obligations until his twenty-first birthday, when he moved his band to New Orleans. He was one of the most influential trombonists of early jazz. Ory was a banjo player during his youth, and it is said that his ability to play the banjo helped him develop "tailgate", a particular style of playing the trombone with a rhythmic line underneath the trumpets and cornets.
She also appeared as a guest star of Canadian TV Series Sanctuary as Laura. In 2010, Ory appeared in the Keystone Light beer commercial "Rescue of Beer".. Beginning fall 2011, Ory starred as Red Riding Hood/Ruby on the ABC fantasy series Once Upon a Time. She was in most of the episodes of the first season and was promoted to the main cast in the second season of the series. She left the cast at the end of the second season, to focus on her new show Intelligence, but made guest appearances in four episodes during the third season.

The original Hot Five were Armstrong's wife, pianist Lil Hardin Armstrong, as well as New Orleans musicians who Armstrong had worked with in that city in the 1910s: Kid Ory on trombone, Johnny Dodds on clarinet, and Johnny St. Cyr on guitar and banjo. For some or all of the Louis Armstrong and His Hot Seven sides, Ory was in New York City working with King Oliver's band, and was replaced, probably by John Thomas. The first Hot Five sides, "Yes! I'm in the Barrel" composed by Armstrong, "My Heart" composed by Hardin Armstrong, and "Gut Bucket Blues" attributed to Armstrong, were recorded on November 12, 1925 with little rehearsal.
In 1926 he played with Jimmie Noone, and then moved to California for an extended run with Mutt Carey's Jeffersonians (1927–32). He played in the Winslow Allen Band in the 1930s, but took a hiatus from music for part of the decade, and served briefly in the Army again in 1942. In 1945 he rejoined Ory in his Creole Jazz Band and became one of his most longstanding members, remaining with Ory's ensemble until 1956, when he retired on account of poor health. Hall never led his own recording date, though he recorded extensively with Ory and also did some recording with Louis Armstrong in the 1940s.

The proceeds totalled $400, worth ten times that amount today. Scott died in Los Angeles July 2, 1949, aged 59. His obituary ran on the front page of the Los Angeles Sentinel. "Kid Ory wept during prayers at Bud Scotts's Masonic funeral," wrote jazz historian Floyd Levin.

Ory Shihor (born September 13, 1967) is an Israeli-American pianist, pedagogue, and co-founder of the Los Angeles based Ory Shihor Institute, which encompasses piano performance training and exams for students of all levels, teacher training and certification, and a pre-college program for advanced young pianists with a focus on college audition preparation. Shihor is an award winning pianist and well-respected pedagogue who performs, lectures, holds masterclasses and serves on the juries of prestigious international piano competitions. He is renowned for his teaching methods that prepare young pianists for the world stage. Shihor was the founder of the Colburn Music Academy and served as its dean between 2010-2017.

The title song faced a legal challenge from the estate of New Orleans jazz trombone pioneer Edward "Kid" Ory, whose daughter Babette claimed that McDonald had appropriated the melody for his song from Ory's classic "Muskrat Ramble" as recorded by Louis Armstrong & his Hot Five in 1926. Le comte Ory is a comic opera written by Gioachino Rossini in 1828. Some of the music originates from his opera Il viaggio a Reims written three years earlier for the coronation of Charles X. The French libretto was by Eugène Scribe and Charles-Gaspard Delestre-Poirson adapted from a comedy they had first written in 1817. The work is ostensibly a comic opera in that the story is humorous, even farcical. However, it was devised for the Opéra rather than for the Théâtre de l'Opéra-Comique and there are structural inconsistencies with the contemporary opéra comique genre: whereas the latter consists of relatively short lyrical numbers and spoken dialogue, Le comte Ory consists of "highly developed, even massive musical forms linked by accompanied recitative".

Midex Airlines was a cargo airline based in the United Arab Emirates. Licensed for both cargo and passenger services in 2007, the airline concentrates on scheduled cargo services. In the late fifties he joined Barbara Dane's trio alongside pianist/cornetist Kenny Whitson, turning down opportunities to return to Duke Ellington's band or tour with Louis Armstrong. Shortly afterwards it was continued. Then Meghan Ory wanted to leave the series, which is why her character Sherry had to be written out of Vampire High. A new main character, Dillan Vanderson, played by Marianne Farley was introduced. After the first season, the series was canceled, even though the script of the second season was already written.

Cano Smit began his collegiate studies with Ory Shihor at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles. He was then accepted to the Juilliard School in New York City where he pursued his graduate studies with Robert McDonald and received the Arthur Rubinstein Prize in Piano. Other notable mentors include Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Richard Goode and Stephen Hough.
The title was relaunched a few months later as Howard Chaykin's Amerikan Flagg!. This run saw Chaykin return to write the first issue before handing over to John Francis Moore, with Mike Vosburg and Richard Ory penciling and inking the interior art, but the franchise failed to recapture its early success and was canceled after 12 issues.

The culinary term appears for the first time in a title in a poem by Joseph Berchoux in 1801 entitled "Gastronomie" Pascal Ory, a French historian, defines gastronomy as the establishment of rules of eating and drinking, an "art of the table", and distinguishes it from good cooking () or fine cooking (). In 1999 Farley played Stella and Nancy Brooke in The Intruder. When Meghan Ory wanted to leave Vampire High in 2002 the producers needed to introduce another main character, Dillan Vanderson. Crespo was raised in the La Mancha region of Spain. Early in his career, he was associated with Carlos Edmundo de Ory and the Postism literary movement. He was labeled a traitor under Spain’s Francoist State for signing a petition to protest the torture of miners in Asturias. Afterwards, he participated in clandestine antigovernment activities until he was eventually driven into exile.

Pierre Bergé (1930-2017), former director of the Théâtre de l'Athénée-Louis Jouvet and former President of the Paris Opera (1988-1994), succeeded La Grange as president of the Médiathèque in 2000. Its president has been Bruno Ory- Lavollée since 2017. The association changed its name from Centre de Documentation Musicale-Bibliothèque Gustav Mahler to Médiathèque Musicale Mahler in 2002.

Manuel played at Tuxedo Hall with the Eagle band. He went to Chicago in 1913, then returned to New Orleans, played locally for five years. He went to Los Angeles in November 1919 to join Kid Ory. He returned home shortly afterwards and toured as pianist for with Martels' Family Band, then played piano in Ed Allen's Band on riverboats.

Purnell joined George Lewis's band after Johnson's broke up in 1946, and remained there well into the 1950s, including for international tours. In 1957 Purnell relocated to Los Angeles. There he worked with Teddy Buckner, Young Men from New Orleans, Joe Darensbourg, Kid Ory, Barney Bigard, and Ben Pollack. He also recorded extensively as a leader, including for Warner Bros.
Renato Petit de Ory, better known by its French name, René Petit (October 8, 1899 – October 14, 1989) was a Franco-Spanish engineer, known for being a footballer in his youth. He was one of the most popular players in Spanish football in the 1910s, 1920s and 1930s, playing for Real Madrid and Real Unión, and becoming a member of the French national team.

Howard McGhee was raised in Detroit, Michigan. During his career, he played in bands led by Lionel Hampton, Andy Kirk, Count Basie and Charlie Barnet. He was in a club listening to the radio when he first heard Charlie Parker and was one of the earliest adopters of the new style, a fact that was disapproved by older musicians like Kid Ory. Fred Lonzo (born August 26, 1950), also known as Freddie Lonzo, is a jazz trombonist. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Lonzo is one of the most highly regarded practitioners of "tailgate" style traditional jazz trombone. His style is distinctly his own, but such influences as Kid Ory and Frog Joseph can be heard. Lonzo has played with such brass bands as Doc Paulin's, the Imperial, Olympia, and Young Tuxedo.
Later he played with Chick Webb, Louis Armstrong (with Russell) and Jelly Roll Morton. The Dixieland jazz revival of the late 1940s reinvigorated his career; he played with Art Hodes, Bunk Johnson, and Kid Ory, and had a regular gig with Ralph Sutton in 1948. In 1953 he moved to France; except for recording sessions in the U.S. in 1959-60, he remained there for the rest of his life.

Honoré Dutrey (c. 1894 in New Orleans, Louisiana - July 21, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois) was a dixieland jazz trombonist, probably best known for his work in King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band. In New Orleans, Dutrey played with the Excelsior Brass Band and with John Robichaux's orchestra. His playing has been contrasted with that of other New Orleans trombonists such as Kid Ory, in that he met the older harmonic and rhythmic functions.

Before World War II, the west coast of the U.S. hosted a bustling music scene, though its activity remained largely localized. In 1917, Jelly Roll Morton moved to California and remained in Los Angeles until 1922, when he left for Chicago. Kid Ory formed a band in Los Angeles after moving to California in 1919. In 1944, Norman Granz began staging Jazz at the Philharmonic shows at Philharmonic Auditorium in Los Angeles.

In this position, he played a crucial role in the return of Icelandic manuscripts to Iceland from Denmark, representing Iceland in negotiations with the Danish authorities from 1972-86.R[ory] W. Wax masters were shipped across country by railroad; many melted on the trip across the desert. By some accounts among the recordings lost were sessions by Jelly Roll Morton and King Oliver. Among the records which survived were the only recordings of Eva Tanguay, early sides by Abe Lyman's Orchestra, Henry Halstead's Orchestra, and a number of recordings by Kid Ory's band. The Ory sides were the first recorded jazz by an African American band from New Orleans.
They Dream, a Canadian feature-length film, set in and around Maillardville, including Place des Arts and Mackin House Museum, was shot over the Summer of 2012. Written and directed by Vancouver filmmaker Gord Stanfield, They Dream is the story of a 20-year-old art student, David Dubois, his love affair with a mysterious woman Lisa Reese, and his tragic past. Willie "The Lion" Smith continued with a stride version backed by a Dixieland band which appeared on his 1957 album Intimate Jazz in Hi Fi. In 2011, the Berlin Hot Jazz Band, a German dixieland group, recorded it for their album Berlin Blues.
The young Benny Goodman is taught clarinet by a Chicago music professor. He is advised by bandleader Kid Ory to play whichever kind of music he likes best, but to make a living, Benny begins by joining the Ben Pollack traveling band. Later in New York, where his new band gets a lukewarm reception, Benny meets jazz lover John Hammond and his sister Alice. Babette Ory, Kid Ory's daughter from his second marriage and heir to the "Muskrat Ramble" copyright, sued Country Joe McDonald for copyright infringement in 2001. The complaint alleged that the tune for McDonald's signature song "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag"—specifically the chorus that begins, "And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for?"—was lifted in part from "Muskrat Ramble". The song was famously performed by Country Joe and the Fish at Woodstock in 1969.

Joseph Nathan Oliver was born in Aben, Louisiana, near Donaldsonville in Ascension Parish, and moved to New Orleans in his youth. He first studied the trombone, then changed to cornet. From 1908 to 1917 he played cornet in New Orleans brass bands and dance bands and in the city's red-light district, which came to be known as Storyville. A band he co- led with trombonist Kid Ory was considered one of the best and hottest in New Orleans in the late 1910s.

After moving to Chicago, Brown found work in Phil Lavant's orchestra in 1938 and then in Lawrence Welk's band. In 1941 he married his wife Louise. He returned to Shreveport to run a motorcycle shop, but the endeavor failed, and he relocated once again to Los Angeles. There, he found prolific work as a jazz musician for the next several decades, playing with Les Brown, Coleman Hawkins, Doc Cheatham, Danny Barker, Kid Ory, Percy Humphrey and Louis Armstrong among others.

New Orleans is the only feature film made by singer Billie Holiday, and the last film in which writer-producer Herbert J. Biberman was involved before he was blacklisted.
He also sang Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, the title hero in Le comte Ory, Henri in Les vêpres siciliennes, and Masaniello in La muette de Portici. As Don Alvaro in Meyerbeer's L'Africaine Warot appeared on the concert platform in David’s Le désert and Christoph Colomb, in Berlioz’s L'enfance du Christ and in Pergoleisi’s Stabat Mater. During this period he appeared in two operas which would be significant throughout his career, as Léopold in La Juive and Alphonse in La muette de Portici.
Leptopelis oryi, also known as the Garamba forest treefrog and Ory's tree frog, is a species of frog in the family Arthroleptidae. It is found in the northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, northwestern Uganda, and adjacent South Sudan. It is morphologically similar to Leptopelis nordequatorialis from Cameroon, and has also been considered its synonym, but is currently treated as a distinct species. The specific name oryi honours Albert Ory, warden in the Garamba National Park, the type locality of this species.
Minor Hall was born in Sellers, Louisiana. He studied at New Orleans University until 1914, then began playing with Kid Ory in the middle of the decade. He played in various New Orleans ensembles, including the Superior Band, then moved to Chicago in 1918. He took his brother's spot in Lawrence Duhe's band briefly before serving in the U.S. Army during World War I. By the time he returned, King Oliver was leading Duhe's band, which Hall rejoined in 1921.
Lee Adams testified that he had seen the fight, but later saying that he was a quarter- mile from the tracks. Ory Dobbins repeated that he'd seen the women try to jump off the train, but Leibowitz showed photos of the positions of the parties that proved Dobbins could not have seen everything he claimed. Coming from a working-class family and a background of grinding poverty, Coluche fought for the equality of citizens. A law known as the Loi Coluche was passed in 1988, allowing large tax deductions (up to 75% in some cases) for individuals or businesses that donate to specified aid agencies. The main-belt asteroid 170906 Coluche, discovered by Swiss astronomer Michel Ory in 2004, was named after Coluche. A rose is named for Coluche – it is on display in the rose garden of Tabor Park, Rennes.
In 2012, she sang the role of Musetta in Puccini's opera La bohème at La Scala in Milan. Yende made her Metropolitan Opera debut in New York City on 17 January 2013, in the role of Adèle in Rossini's opera Le comte Ory, as a substitute for Nino Machaidze. In 2015 she portrayed Susanna in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro at the Los Angeles Opera. In 2016 she portrayed Rosina in The Barber of Seville and the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Paris Opera.
The queen palm is reportedly naturalized to some extent in Florida, Queensland, Honduras, and the island of Mauritius. On Mauritius seedlings have been recorded from gardens in the now highly residential area 'Montagne Ory' near the village of Moka from 1981-1984 to at least 1999. Alcorn learned music theory from his brother. In the early 1930s, he was a member of the Sunny South Syncopators led by Armand J. Piron. He worked in Texas as a member of Don Albert's swing band, but he spent most his career in New Orleans in the dixieland bands of Paul Barbarin, Sidney Desvigne, Oscar Celestin, and Octave Crosby. During the 1950s he went to Los Angeles to join the band of Kid Ory, then a couple years later returned to New Orleans.
He was able to play two brass instruments at the same time, including very late in his life. He played early in the 20th century with the Eagle Brass Band and the Tuxedo Brass Band, and was a veteran of some of Buddy Bolden's bands. He played in New Orleans for much of his career, but toured with Kid Ory in 1919 and with the Martels Family Band as a pianist in the 1920s. He played on riverboats with Ed Allen in that decade as well.
He played with Jelly Roll Morton in 1941 for rehearsals. In 1944 Wilson became a member of a traditional New Orleans band that was a leader of the West Coast revival, put together for the CBS Radio series The Orson Welles Almanac. The all-star band also included Mutt Carey, Ed Garland, Jimmie Noone (succeeded by Barney Bigard), Kid Ory, Bud Scott and Zutty Singleton. Renamed Kid Ory's Creole Jazz Band, the group then made a significant series of recordings on the Crescent Records label.
The Castle Jazz band recorded the song in 1949 and released it on Castle Records as a 78. Sonny Brooks and His orchestra released the song as "Dixieland One- Step" on Cahill with the songwriting credit to Nick LaRocca. Kid Ory recorded the song as "Original Dixieland One-Step". "Original Dixieland One-Step" was released by the Sextette from Hunger led by Eddie Skrivanek with George Thow, Joe Yukl, Blake Reynolds, Charlie LaVere, Richard Cornell, and Country and Washburne on MacGregor 1026 in the early 1950s.
In 2001 she was elected to the National Council. From 2001 to 2002 she was Chairwoman of the Neuchâtel section of the SP, but had to leave because of her nomination as spokeswoman of the Federal Department of the Interior. Gisèle Ory was elected to the Council of States in 2003 along with Socialist Jean Studer. After Studer's resignation in 2006, she was joined by Pierre Bonhôte (Social Democratic Party of Switzerland), who won a by-election against Philippe Bauer (Liberal Party of Switzerland).
Good Time Jazz Records was an American jazz record company and label. It was founded in 1949 by Lester Koenig to record the Firehouse Five Plus Two and earned a reputation for Dixieland jazz. The label produced new releases and reissues, including recordings by Jelly Roll Morton, Burt Bales, Wally Rose, Luckey Roberts, Willie "The Lion" Smith, Lu Watters, Bob Scobey, Bunk Johnson, Kid Ory, George Lewis, Johnny Wiggs, Sharkey Bonano, Don Ewell, and blues musician Jesse Fuller. Good Time Jazz was subsumed by Koenig's Contemporary Records.
Her other leading roles at the Opéra included Eurydice in Orphée et Eurydice, Iphigénie in Iphigénie en Tauride, Pamyra in Le siège de Corinthe, Adèle in Le comte Ory, Amazily in Fernand Cortez, and Églantine in the first French performance of Euryanthe. Dabadie's voice was beautiful and well-schooled, with a purity of style and diction, but Laure Cinti-Damoreau somewhat eclipsed her fame when she joined the company in 1826. Several of the leading roles in Paris Opéra premieres were given to Cinti-Damoreau, with Dabadie either in secondary roles (as in Moïse et Pharaon and William Tell) or singing Cinti-Damoreau's roles in revival performances (such as Le siège de Corinthe and Le comte Ory). During this time Dabadie's two younger sisters also began performing at the Paris Opéra: the soprano Clara Lavry (née Leroux) and the ballerina Pauline Leroux. From 1821 to 1830, Dabadie was also a principal singer in the Chapelle royale of Louis XVIII and later Charles X. She had been engaged by the Duc de La Châtre in 1821 after he heard her performance at Notre Dame Cathedral in a Te Deum marking the baptism of the Count of Chambord.

A native of the Canton of Neuchâtel, Burkhalter served in the Parliament of the Canton of Neuchâtel from 1990 to 2001. From 1991 to 2005, he was a member of Neuchâtel's city government (Conseil communal), and was the mayor of the city several times (1994/1995, 1998/1998, 2001/2002). From 2003 to 2007, he was a member of the Swiss National Council. On 11 November 2007, Burkhalter was elected to the Council of States, along with Social Democratic Party (SP) candidate, Gisèle Ory, who was re-elected for a second term.
As well as dropping some of the original music that was in an ornate style unfashionable in Paris, Rossini accommodated local preferences by adding dances, hymn-like numbers and a greater role for the chorus. Rossini's mother, Anna, died in 1827; he had been devoted to her, and he felt her loss deeply. She and Colbran had never got on well, and Servadio suggests that after Anna died Rossini came to resent the surviving woman in his life. In 1828 Rossini wrote Le comte Ory, his only French-language comic opera.
He died on July 10, 1941, after an eleven-day stay in Los Angeles County General Hospital. According to the jazz historian David Gelly in 2000, Morton's arrogance and "bumptious" persona alienated so many musicians that few of them attended his funeral. An article about the funeral appeared in the August 1, 1941 issue of DownBeat and reported that his pallbearers were Kid Ory, Mutt Carey, Fred Washington, and Ed Garland. Duke Ellington and Jimmie Lunceford were absent, though both were appearing in Los Angeles at the time.

Bloomsbury Publishers, In the first half of 1927, Armstrong assembled his Hot Seven group, which added drummer Al "Baby" Dodds and tuba player, Pete Briggs, while preserving most of his original Hot Five lineup. John Thomas replaced Kid Ory on trombone. Later that year he organized a series of new Hot Five sessions which resulted in nine more records. In the last half of 1928, he started recording with a new group: Zutty Singleton (drums), Earl Hines (piano), Jimmy Strong (clarinet), Fred Robinson (trombone), and Mancy Carr (banjo).

But The Marriage of Figaro, Idomeneo, Le Comte Ory as well as Ebert's own production of Don Giovanni with John Piper's sets which was enhanced musically by the then-music director Vittorio Gui. For 20 years up to 1954, almost every production was undertaken by Carl Ebert, but in that year Peter's production of Arlecchino by Busoni and under John Pritchard introduced the young director. In 1954 Peter Ebert became chief producer at the Staatsoper Hannover in Hanover under Intendant Kurt Ehrhardt, and the family moved there. Peter stayed six years and learned a large amount of the opera repertoire in a theatre with very high standards. However, the summers were nearly always spent working at Glyndebourne as assistant to his father and later doing his own productions and restaging his fathers’ work. When Glyndebourne took Le Comte Ory and Falstaff to Paris, Ebert did all the technical and preparatory work as well as the rehearsals.
Earl Thomas Watkins, Jr. (January 29, 1920 in San Francisco – July 1, 2007 in San Francisco) was an American jazz drummer. Watkins was a percussionist in a United States Navy band during World War II, and returned to San Francisco after the war. He played with Wilbert Baranco in 1946 and did extensive work as a sideman and session musician in the 1950s, including with Kid Ory, Flip Phillips, Muggsy Spanier, and Bob Scobey. He joined Earl Hines's ensemble in San Francisco, touring and recording with him until 1961.
His older brother, Willard Foster, began playing banjo and guitar; George started out on a cello then switched to string bass. Foster married twice: to Bertha Foster in 1912 and Alma Foster in 1936. Pops Foster was playing professionally by 1907 and worked with Jack Carey, Kid Ory, Armand Piron, King Oliver and other prominent hot bands of the era. In 1921 he moved to St. Louis to play with the Charlie Creath and Dewey Jackson bands, in which he would be active for much of the decade.

Dabadie studied at the Paris Conservatory, and made his debut at the Paris Opéra, in 1819, as Cinna in La vestale. He was to remain at the Opéra until 1836, creating roles specifically written for him by Rossini, notably; the Pharaon in Moïse et Pharaon, Raimbaud in Le comte Ory, and Guillaume Tell. He also created roles in opera by Auber, Pietro in La muette de Portici, Jolicoeur in Le philtre, and Jean in Le serment. He also sang in Italy, where he created Belcore in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore, in Milan, on May 12, 1832.
Armstrong's solos were a significant factor in making jazz a true 20th-century language. After leaving Henderson's group, Armstrong formed his virtuosic Hot Five band, which included instrumentalist's Kid Ory (trombone), Johnny Dodds (clarinet), Johnny St. Cyr (banjo), and wife Lil on piano, where he popularized scat singing. Jelly Roll Morton recorded with the New Orleans Rhythm Kings in an early mixed-race collaboration, then in 1926 formed his Red Hot Peppers. There was a larger market for jazzy dance music played by white orchestras, such as Jean Goldkette's orchestra and Paul Whiteman's orchestra.

While the work contains some flamboyant recipes, it goes into the theory of preparation of French dishes and hospitality.
Dark House is a supernatural horror film directed by Darin Scott and stars Jeffrey Combs, Meghan Ory and Diane Salinger with Matt Cohen, Shelly Cole, Danso Gordon, Ryan Melander, Bevin Prince, Meghan Maureen McDonough and Scott Whyte. The film was scripted by Darin Scott with the story created by Kerry Douglas Dye and Darin Scott. The movie was produced by Mark Sonoda and Nick Allan. Dark House opened theatrically for one week engagements on Friday, July 30 in New York City, Dallas and San Francisco and was released on DVD September 28, 2010.
Despite literally disintegrating in this film (after committing several major crimes), Dreyfus inexplicably returns in the next Pink Panther film, Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978). French comic book writer René Goscinny of Asterix fame was reportedly trying to sue Blake Edwards for plagiarism at the time of his death in 1977 after noticing strong similarities to a script titled "Le Maître du Monde" (The Master of the World) which he had sent Peter Sellers in 1975. In fall of 2009 season, Brian is designed the revival of Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs, Broadway Bound and David Mamet's new play Race. In the 2010 season he designed A Behanding in Spokane, Fences, Armida at The Metropolitan Opera, and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. In 2011 he has designed The Book of Mormon, Le Compte Ory at The Metropolitan Opera and The House of Blue Leaves. He has had several students go on to also design Broadway productions, including Kenneth Posner, Jeff Croiter, Jason Lyons, and Jen Schriever.
There, she perfected her French and became familiar with a more open and more cosmopolitan society. That same year, she moved to Madrid in order to prepare her PhD thesis in XIII Galician-Portuguese chansonnier, which she would not complete. In Madrid, Ignacio Aldecoa introduced her to the literary circle of some of the writers that were part of the Generation of '50. Significant members of this generation were: Medardo Fraile, Alfonso Sastre, Mayrata O'Wisiedo, Jesús Fernández Santos, Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio, Josefina Aldecoa and Carlos Edmundo de Ory.
The stage setting for Rossini's Le Comte Ory as performed at the Teatro alla Canobbiana in 1830 The Teatro Lirico (known until 1894 as the Teatro della Canobbiana) is a theatre in Milan, Italy. In the 19th and early 20th centuries it was particularly notable for opera performances, including the world premieres of Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore and Giordano's Fedora. The theatre, located on Via Rastrelli, closed in 1998. However, a restoration project was begun in April 2007, and it was due to re-open in 2009 as the Teatro Lirico Giorgio Gaber.
For bass they found Frédéric Vidalenc, who had played in the well-known local group Dernier Métro, and eventually they settled on Luc Robène for guitar. (The following year Cantat also left the band temporarily, being replaced during his six-month absence by Emmanuel Ory- Weil, who later became the band's manager.) When Robène quit in 1985 Cantat succeeded in getting their original guitarist, Teyssot-Gay, back into the band. The new lineup of Cantat on vocals, Teyssot-Gay on guitar, Vidalenc on bass and Barthe on drums continued for 11 more years.
Peschard began at the Paris Opera in September 1862 in Count Ory and stayed there until 1 July 1863. He then sang in Bordeaux (1864-1865); in Lyon (1868); in Bordeaux (1869); at the Monnaie de Bruxelles (1870-1872), where he performed on the Roussalkas (Ivan) of the Baroness de Maistre and the Florentin Emile Pichoz, until a serious disease left him bedridden; he was cast as Lohengrin but needed to be replaced. He did eventually return to the stage and performed again in Bordeaux (1873); then in Paris (1874 and following years).
Chesapeake Shores is a Canadian/American drama television series, based on the novel series of the same name by Sherryl Woods. The series had a two-hour premiere on the Hallmark Channel on August 14, 2016. The ensemble cast includes Meghan Ory, Jesse Metcalfe, Treat Williams, Laci J. Mailey, Emilie Ullerup, Brendan Penny, Andrew Francis, Barbara Niven and Diane Ladd. At the Television Critics Association winter press tour in February 2019, it was announced that the series will return for a fourth summer season but for only six episodes.
During the 1940s and 50's he worked in Hollywood as a singer and actor and was in over thirty movie and TV shows, including Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Superman, and Titanic. He played saxophone and harmonica and brought Ingram to hear Louis Armstrong, Harry James, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Al Hirt, Buddy Rich, Barney Bigard, Jack Teagarden, Kid Ory, Woody Herman, Rafael Méndez, and Teddy Buckner. He gave Ingram his first trumpet and mouthpiece in 1965. The horn is a bare, brass trumpet made in American-occupied post-war Japan.
Hill staged a comeback in 1946 with Lovie Austin's Blues Serenaders, and recorded for Rudi Blesh's Circle label. She began appearing on radio and in clubs and concerts in New York, including in 1948 the Carnegie Hall concert with Kid Ory, and she sang at the Paris Jazz Festival, and worked with Art Hodes in Chicago. She was back again in 1950, when she was run over by a car and killed in New York at the age of 45. She is buried at the Lincoln Cemetery, Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois.
In 1879, pharmacist, planter, and patent medicine purveyor Basile Laplace arrived from New Orleans, and established a large plantation in Bonnet Carré. In 1883 he allowed the New Orleans and Baton Rouge Railroad to cut through his land. The settlement's railroad depot was named after Laplace, then the post office, and eventually the town itself. In the 1920s, Woodland Plantation was bought by the Montegut family, but the most famous person born there may have been Kid Ory, who was born in an outbuilding and later led a successful New Orleans jazz band.
Robertson played in circus bands and traveling revues, including Kit Carson's Wild West Show. He was part of the Olympia Band around 1914 and was a trombonist for Manuel Perez, Richard M. Jones, and John Robichaux. Robertson was an early influence on Kid Ory – Robertson gave him lessons, and the two practised together. After moving to Chicago in 1917 he played at the De Luxe Café, and "by the mid-1920s he was playing with leaders of the stature of Jelly Roll Morton, with whom he recorded 'Some Day Sweetheart/London Blues' (1923, OK 8105), and King Oliver (1924)".
"Muskrat Ramble" is a jazz composition written by Kid Ory in 1926. It was first recorded on February 26, 1926, by Louis Armstrong and his Hot Five, and became the group's most frequently recorded piece. It was paired on the flip side with another one of Armstrong's hits, "Heebie Jeebies." It was a prominent part of the Dixieland revival repertoire in the 1930s and 1940s, and was recorded by Bob Crosby, Roy Eldridge, Lionel Hampton, Woody Herman, Muggsy Spanier, Chet Atkins, Lu Watters, the Andrews Sisters, Harry James, and Al Hirt,Al Hirt, Our Man in New Orleans Retrieved April 10, 2013.
Before she can do anything, she is tricked by Emma and tied by magic around a tree. After a battle between Merlin and Emma, Zelena transports herself and Arthur back to Camelot. Arthur and Zelena plan to take a magical helm from the kingdom of DunBroch. After many failed attempts to reach the helm, including a battle between Arthur, Zelena and Red Riding Hood (Meghan Ory), Mulan (Jamie Chung) and Merida (Amy Manson, she transports herself back to Camelot, where Emma casts the Dark Curse, ripping everyone back to Storybrooke without their memories of ever stepping foot in Camelot.
In the past Trochetia parviflora was known from the forest at Montagne-Ory. After botanist Philip Burnard Ayres collected the last known specimens in 1863 it was long regarded as lost until 76 individuals were rediscovered in April 2001 by the Mauritian botanists Vincent Florens and Jean-Claude Sevathian, from the Mauritius Herbarium, on a rocky slope of the Corps de Garde six kilometres apart from the type locality. It was assumed that this species has reduced its original range due to competition with invasive alien plants and seed predation by invasive monkeys and rats. Today the biggest threats are wildfire and landslides.
"In the Name of the Brother" was written by consulting producer Jane Espenson, while being directed by 24 vet Milan Cheylov. According to David Anders, this episode was intended to seed a romance between Ruby and Whale, who were seen arm in arm at the end of the episode. According to Anders these plans were shelved due to Ory being cast in the short-lived series, Intelligence. After the aforementioned show's cancellation Anders himself was cast in the series iZombie, leading to Ruby's pairing with Dorothy Gale in the episode Ruby Slippers during the fifth season arc in which the character returned.
Since 1980 the "Fondazione" has supported the annual Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. In the 21st century, the Rossini repertoire of opera houses around the world remains dominated by Il barbiere, La Cenerentola being the second most popular. Several other operas are regularly produced, including Le comte Ory, La donna del lago, La gazza ladra, Guillaume Tell, L'italiana in Algeri, La scala di seta, Il turco in Italia and Il viaggio a Reims. Other Rossini pieces in the current international repertory, given from time to time, include Adina, Armida, Elisabetta regina d'Inghilterra, Ermione, Mosé in Egitto and Tancredi.
He released the first of his commercial recordings, first as piano rolls, then on record, both as a piano soloist and with jazz bands. In 1926, Morton signed a contract with the Victor Talking Machine Company, giving him the opportunity to bring a well-rehearsed band to play his arrangements in the Victor recording studios in Chicago. These recordings by Jelly Roll Morton and His Red Hot Peppers included Kid Ory, Omer Simeon, George Mitchell, Johnny St. Cyr, Barney Bigard, Johnny Dodds, Baby Dodds, and Andrew Hilaire. In November 1928, Morton married Mabel Bertrand, a showgirl, in Gary, Indiana.
He then marched to the East and annexed most of the land of the Kushans, and appointing his son Narseh as Sakanshah - king of the Sakas - in Sistan. Elsdon was born in London on 15 October 1934. He studied trumpet under Tommy McQuater. His early professional work included time with Cy Laurie (1954–56), Graham Stewart and his 'Graham Stewart Seven' (1957–58), a Royal Air Force band, and Terry Lightfoot (1959–61); with Lightfoot he played alongside Kid Ory and Red Allen. Elsdon led his own band from 1961 (he made an appearance on 1 June 1962 in a TV series called All That Jazz) into the 1990s, and during the 1960s also played with Edmond Hall, Albert Nicholas, Wingy Manone, and Howlin' Wolf.
Albert Burbank (March 25, 1902 - August 15, 1976) was a New Orleans clarinetist. Born in New Orleans, Burbank was taught clarinet by Lorenzo Tio, one of that city's most famous clarinet players. He stayed in the New Orleans area throughout the 1920s, playing wherever his services were needed. During the thirties, he worked with Kid Milton's band but was drafted into the US Navy during World War II. Upon demobilization, he worked internationally with the bands of Paul Barbarin and Kid Ory, later returning to New Orleans where he played with several of the well-known jazz and brass bands in the city.
And this is easier said than done, considering Merida is a character who, up until this point, hasn't even been particularly likable. I like Amy Manson in the role of Merida, but she hasn't always been given the best material, often coming across as unnecessarily combative and standoffish. And so this episode was necessary to soften the character and illustrate why she's as hard-nosed as she is. This episode also gave Manson the opportunity to really shine, while also bringing back some OUAT alums I didn't realize I’d missed, such as Mulan (Jamie Chung) and Ruby (Meghan Ory).
While living at the Turkish Embassy in Washington, D.C., he promoted jazz concerts during 1941-1944. When his father died in 1944, and the rest of his family returned to Turkey, Nesuhi moved to California, where he married Jazz Man Record Shop owner Marili Morden and helped run the shop as well as establishing the Crescent Records label. After purchasing Jazz Man Records, he discontinued Crescent and issued traditional jazz recordings on Jazz Man until 1952. At Jazz Man, Nesuhi produced classic Kid Ory revival recordings in 1944 and 1945, plus other recordings by Pete Daily and Turk Murphy.
Louis Armstrong and his Hot Seven was a jazz studio group organized to make a series of recordings for Okeh Records in Chicago, Illinois, in May 1927. Some of the personnel also recorded with Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five, including Johnny Dodds (clarinet), Lil Armstrong (piano), and Johnny St. Cyr (banjo and guitar). These musicians were augmented by Dodds's brother, Baby Dodds (drums), Pete Briggs (tuba), and John Thomas (trombone, replacing Armstrong's usual trombonist, Kid Ory, who was then touring with King Oliver). Briggs and Thomas were at the time working with Armstrong's performing group, the Sunset Stompers.
From 1949 to 1952 she studied with Gwynn Parry Jones at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. She began her career with Opera for All (1952–55). In 1959 she joined Sadler’s Wells, making her début in Rusalka; for ten seasons she was a member of the company, her most notable achievement being her interpretations of La Cenerentola, Rosina (The Barber of Seville), Isolier (Le comte Ory) and Isabella (L'italiana in Algeri). Her other roles included Iolanthe, Hänsel, Cherubino, Pippo, and Josephine in the premiere of Malcolm Williamson's The Violins of Saint-Jacques (1966).
At the start of her career Zeani had specialised in coloratura roles including Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Elvira in I puritani, Gilda in Rigoletto, and Adèle in Le comte Ory. However, in a 1960 production at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma she sang all three heroines in The Tales of Hoffmann — Olympia (coloratura soprano), Antonia (lyric soprano), and Giulietta (dramatic soprano). Rossi-Lemeni appeared in the same production playing all four villains — Lindorf, Coppelius, Dr. Miracole, and Dappertutto. From 1970 she increasingly assayed the heavier dramatic soprano roles with great success, notably the title roles in Aida, Tosca, Manon Lescaut, and Fedora.
The Oklahoma Railway Company (ORy) operated interurban lines to El Reno, Guthrie, and Norman, and several streetcar lines in Oklahoma City, and the surrounding area from 1904 to 1947. Freight traffic was also handled on the interurban lines as well as a few of the streetcar lines. The railway had a connection with the Fort Smith and Western Railroad at Guthrie and the two companies interchanged freight cars there. As World War II approached, the company began to shift focus away from interurban/streetcar operation towards buses; as a result, the company began to gradually abandon its rail operations.
He worked in Los Angeles in the 1930s with Les Hite and Lionel Hampton, then played in Monk McFay's band in Hawaii in 1935–39 and led his own band for a time thereafter. In 1941 he returned to the continental United States, playing with Ceele Burke (1942–46), Horace Henderson (1946), and Kid Ory (1947). He led his own Dixieland outfits in California through the 1950s, but didn't record with any of them. In the 1960s Blakeney played with the Young Men of New Orleans, in the 1970s with the Legends of Jazz, and in the 1980s with the Eagle Brass Band.
The personnel on this initial recording of "Georgia Grind" were Louis Armstrong (cornet, vocals), Kid Ory (trombone), Johnny Dodds (clarinet, alto saxophone) and Lil Hardin (piano, vocals) with Johnny St. Cyr (banjo). The recording was in the key of E♭ Major, and was made on February 26, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Armstrong ignored large parts of the melody in the recording, largely talking his way through, hinting towards his scat work on his later recording, "Heebie Jeebies". Like "Heebie Jeebies," a dance was choreographed to the song as a way to assist in sales and popularity.

After a fire burned the Salle Favart in 1838, the troupe had several homes before it finally settled in the Salle Ventadour in 1841. Rossini continued to produce lavish operas with spectacular sets, rapid pace, the use of unusual instruments (the trombone, cymbals and triangle) and extravagant emotion. He staged Siege of Corinth (1827), followed by Moses and the comic opera Le comte Ory. He then undertook to write an opera that was entirely French; he wrote William Tell based on a play by Schiller, which premiered at the Salle Le Peletier on August 3, 1829.
He went back to Chicago, where he played with Dave Peyton (1930), the Chicago Ramblers (1932), Johnny Dodds and Baby Dodds, Zutty Singleton, Mezz Mezzrow, Lovie Austin, and Jimmy Bertrand (1945). Collins played in Chicago through the 1930s and 1940s as an accompanist to many blues singers and in nightclubs. After 1945, he led his own band at the Victory Club, on Clark Street in Chicago, and gigged with Bertha Hill (1946), Kid Ory (1948), and Art Hodes (1950–1951). He played in Europe with Mezz Mezzrow in 1951 and 1954 and in California with Joe Sullivan in 1953.
He sang in the Paris premieres of Mosè in Egitto, Ricciardo e Zoraide, La cenerentola, La donna del lago, and he participated in the creation of Il viaggio a Reims. Levasseur returned to the Paris Opéra in 1827 and remained there until 1853, where he created all the great basso cantante roles, notably in operas such as; Le comte Ory, Guillaume Tell, Robert le diable, La juive, Les Huguenots, La favorite, Dom Sebastien, Le prophète, etc. Levasseur was considered peerless in his time, possessing a voice of remarkable beauty and grandeur. He taught at the Paris Conservatory from 1841 until 1870.
Le Rossignol was to remain in the repertoire of the Opera "largely as a showpiece for soprano Laure Cinti-Damoreau" (Benjamin Walton, Rossini in Restoration Paris: The Sound of Modern Life, Cambridge, Cambridge University Press, 2008, p. 238, note 60). and was engaged the following year as a member of the theatre's company. At the Opera she became the leading lady in Rossini’s French production; Moïse et Pharaon, Le siège de Corinthe, Le comte Ory, Guillaume Tell, and also took part in the creation of notably; Auber's La muette de Portici, and Meyerbeer's Robert le diable.
Although not unknown at an earlier date (for example the title-role in Mozart's Mitridate), roles for this voice were particularly numerous at the beginning of the nineteenth century: for example Lindoro in Rossini's L'italiana in Algeri or Rodrigo in Otello. Rossini also wrote roles in French for this type of voice, which may thus be regarded as a direct continuation of the earlier haute-contre tradition. These include the protagonist of Le Comte Ory, Néocles in Le siège de Corinthe and Arnold in 'Guillaume Tell', all of which were written for the great French tenor Adolphe Nourrit.

She sang in Robert le Diable, La muette de Portici, William Tell, Mosè in Egitto, le Comte Ory, while at the same time achieving success in concerts.
Nick LaRocca's 1917 composition "Tiger Rag" is one of the most important and influential jazz standards of the twentieth century. There were 136 cover versions of LaRocca's copyrighted composition "Tiger Rag" by 1942 alone. Among the artists who have recorded "Tiger Rag" are Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, Benny Goodman, Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Kid Ory and his Creole Jazz Orchestra, Bix Beiderbecke, Les Paul, Art Tatum, The Mills Brothers in a No. 1 pop version, and Bob Crosby. The Original Dixieland Jazz Band is now regarded as one of the seminal groups in the formation and development of jazz.
He began studying clarinet and tenor saxophone, which would eventually become his primary instruments. Goudie's arrival in New Orleans circa 1907 meant he had a tantalizing front- row seat to the blossoming of early jazz. Musicians such as King Oliver, Kid Ory, Johnny Dodds, Freddie Keppard, Jimmie Noone and a host of others, were in their prime and working at many venues throughout the city, in everything from duos, to six-piece jazz bands, to brass bands. Goudie may even have worked with, or crossed paths with, a young man close to his age, blowing up a storm on cornet - Louis Armstrong.

Bands would play music on the ships going across the lake and at pavilions and dance halls in Mandeville, and the town became one of the first places where the new "jazz" music was heard outside of New Orleans. Bunk Johnson, Buddy Petit, Papa Celestin, George Lewis, Kid Ory, Edmond Hall, Chester Zardis, and many other early jazz artists regularly played in Mandeville. In the late 19th century, Mandeville was home of the Harvey School (Mandeville), a college preparatory institution. Among those educated there was Andrew Querbes, then of New Orleans and later the mayor of Shreveport.
Miles was born in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana, in a afro- Creole Kouri-Vini (Louisiana Creole) speaking family. As a child, she sang in church and performed at parties and dances. She worked with Joe Oliver, Kid Ory, Bunk Johnson, and A.J. Piron from 1909 to 1911. She then toured the South, performing in theaters, circuses, and with minstrel shows owned/managed by J. Augustus Jones, Elmer H. Jones and their family. In 1917 she sang in Chicago with Manuel Manetta, and then, in 1921 with Freddie Keppard, Charlie Elgar, and again with Oliver. She moved to New York and made her first phonograph recordings in 1922.

He, along with Eduardo Chicharro and the Italian poet Silvano Sernesi, was the co- founder of a poetry movement called Postismo (Postism). Postism consisted of a loose group of writers creating work that valued language play and was set against the neo-romanticism of Spain’s official literary culture. Among the writers associated with the movement are Ángel Crespo, Gloria Fuertes, Juan Eduardo Cirlot, and Gabriel Celaya. Ory twice tried to bring out a literary journal to advance the work and tenets of Postism, but on both occasions the journal was censored by the fascist government of Franco and was not allowed to be distributed.
In 1959, The Dukes of Dixieland released an album entitled At the Jazz Band Ball featuring an instrumental version of the song as the opening track. Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong recorded the song in 1960 for their album Bing & Satchmo. Garrett has had an extensive music career. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and an alumna of the prestigious National Opera Studio, she won the Decca Prize of the Kathleen Ferrier Award in 1979, thereby launching her career. Her professional debut, in 1979, was as Amor in Orontea at the music festival in Batignano. She subsequently sang, in 1980, Alice in Le comte Ory at the London Coliseum and Dorinda in Orlando at the Wexford Festival, in 1981, also at Wexford, the title role in Zaide, in 1982 Sophie in Werther with Opera North and in 1984 Damigella in L'incoronazione di Poppea at Glyndebourne.
Stober has also had engagements as a guest artist with numerous American opera companies. In 2002 she gave her first performance with the Boston Lyric Opera as Yvette in Puccini's La rondine; returning there the following year to perform the role of Rosalinde in Johann Strauss II's Die Fledermaus. In 2006 she made her debut with Boston Baroque as Zerlina in Don Giovanni, her debut with Opera Colorado as Pamina in The Magic Flute, her debut with Utah Opera as The First Lady in The Magic Flute, and performed the roles of the Comtesse in Rossini's Le comte Ory and Mozart's Barbarina at the Wolf Trap Opera.
The turning point in his career came in 1952, when he made his debut at the Glyndebourne Festival, where he was to appear until 1961, especially in Rossini roles such as Almaviva, Lindoro in L'italiana in Algeri, Ramiro in La Cenerentola, and most notably as Le comte Ory, possibly his greatest success. Apart from Rossini, he also excelled in opera by Cimarosa and Paisiello. Other notable roles included: Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore, Ernesto in Don Pasquale, Fenton in Falstaff. In the 1960s, he began, perhaps unwisely, to expand his repertory towards heavier roles in opera by Verdi and Puccini.
New Orleans is a 1947 American musical romance film featuring Billie Holiday as a singing maid and Louis Armstrong as a bandleader; supporting players Holiday and Armstrong perform together and portray a couple becoming romantically involved. During one song, Armstrong's character introduces the members of his band, a virtual Who's Who of classic jazz greats, including trombonist Kid Ory, drummer Zutty Singleton, clarinetist Barney Bigard, guitar player Bud Scott, bassist George "Red" Callender, pianist Charlie Beal, and pianist Meade Lux Lewis. Also performing in the film is cornetist Mutt Carey and bandleader Woody Herman. The music, however, takes a back seat to a rather conventional plot.
In 2006, Ory was ordered to pay McDonald $395,000 for attorney fees and had to sell her copyrights to do so. In 2004, McDonald regrouped with three of the original members of Country Joe and the Fish (Bruce Barthol, David Bennett Cohen, and Gary "Chicken" Hirsh) and they toured the United States and the United Kingdom as the "Country Joe Band". In 2005, McDonald joined a larger protest against California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's proposed budget cuts at the California State Capitol Building. Later in 2005, political commentator Bill O'Reilly compared McDonald to Cuban President Fidel Castro, remarking on McDonald's involvement in Cindy Sheehan's protests against the Iraq War.
The All Star Jazz Group, left to right: Ed Garland (bass), Buster Wilson (piano), Marili Morden (proprietor, Jazz Man Records), Jimmie Noone (clarinet), Mutt Carey (trumpet), Zutty Singleton (drums), Kid Ory (trombone), Bud Scott (guitar) Ed Garland was born in New Orleans January 9, 1895. By about 1910, he was playing bass drum with brass bands including Frankie Duson's Eagle Band. He then took up tuba and string bass; like many New Orleans bassists of the era, he doubled on the two instruments which filled similar roles in different types of bands. He played with the Excelsior Brass Band and Manuel Perez's Imperial Orchestra.
Masterson went on to become principal soprano with English National Opera, from 1971, singing a wide range of roles from Mozart to Wagner and Rossini to Puccini. Her successes there included Adèle in Rossini's Le comte Ory,Sadler's Wells programme booklet, 22 February 1972 Micaëla in Carmen,The Times, 4 August 1975, p. 6 Violetta in La traviata and the title role in Massenet's Manon ("exquisitely sung and acted"). Lionel Hampton, Martha Tilton, Kid Ory, George Givot, Gene Krupa, Teddy Wilson, Harry James and many other musicians made appearances in this film. However, while Ziggy Elman appeared on screen recreating his trumpet solo on "And the Angels Sing", he was unable to record his portion for the soundtrack; Mannie Klein actually performed it, off-camera. Similarly, Red Mack's performance in the film is actually played by Alvin Alcorn. Fletcher Henderson is portrayed by Sammy Davis, Sr., father of Sammy Davis, Jr. Famed talent scout John Hammond was dissatisfied with the way he and the rest of the Hammond family, including sister Alice, were portrayed in the movie.
Michel Sénéchal was born in Paris and sang as a child in a church choir in Taverny. He made his vocal studies at the Paris Conservatory, and made his debut at La Monnaie in Brussels in 1950, where he would remain until 1952. Upon his return in France he made his debut in Paris, at the Paris Opéra and the Opéra-Comique, where he sang the lead tenor roles in opera such as La dame blanche, Les Indes galantes, Il matrimonio segreto, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Le comte Ory, etc. He sang at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in Rameau's Platée for his debut there in 1956.
Ushahidi (Swahili for "testimony" or "witness") is a website created in the aftermath of Kenya's disputed 2007 presidential election (see 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis) that collected eyewitness reports of violence sent in by email and text- message and placed them on a Google map. It is also the name of the open source software developed for that site, which has since been improved, released freely, and used for a number of similar projects around the globe. The Kenyan site was developed and run by several bloggers and software developers, all current or former residents of Kenya. They include Erik Hersman, Juliana Rotich, Ory Okolloh, and David Kobia.
One of early rural blues, ragtime, and marching band music were combined with collective improvisation to create this new style of music. At first, the music was known by various names such as "hot music", "hot ragtime" and "ratty music"; the term "jazz" (early on often spelled "jass") did not become common until the 1910s. The early style was exemplified by the bands of such musicians as Freddie Keppard, Jelly Roll Morton, "King" Joe Oliver, Kid Ory. The next generation took the young art form into more daring and sophisticated directions, with such creative musical virtuosos as Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, and Red Allen.
A highly respected Rossini specialist, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1988 as Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia. He has performed Rossini's comic operas La scala di seta, L'occasione fa il ladro, L'italiana in Algeri, La gazza ladra, La Cenerentola, La pietra del paragone, Il viaggio a Reims, Le comte Ory as well as his opere serie Otello, Zelmira, Armida, Ricciardo e Zoraide, Maometto II, Semiramide, etc. He now mainly dedicates himself to teaching singing and giving master classes in Italy, Germany and Japan, but he has latterly founded an ensemble for recording Monteverdi operas, which has released recordings of L'incoronazione di Poppea and L'Orfeo.
In his 1999 book The Temples that Jerusalem Forgot, Martin argued that the Haram al-Sharif is not the location of the last Temple. This was significant given his relationship with Herbert W. Armstrong whose editorial in The Plain Truth magazine was cited by Denis Michael Rohan as a reason for setting fire to the Al Aqsa mosque during the 1960s. The basis of this work began with Martin's first visit to Jerusalem in 1961 when he first met Benjamin Mazar and later his son Ory Mazar, who informed him of his belief that the Temples of Solomon and Zerubbabel were located on the Ophel mound to the north of the original Mount Zion on the southeast ridge.

In the late 1910s the park was razed and freed up land for quick build-up of residential and industrial buildings in the 1920s. "By 1940, approximately 70 percent of the black population of Los Angeles was confined to the Central Avenue corridor"; the area of modest bungalows and low-rise commercial buildings along Central Avenue emerged as the heart of the black community in southern California. Originally, the city's black community was concentrated around what is now Little Tokyo, but began moving south after 1900.Southeast Los Angeles Community Plan, L.A. Preservation It had one of the first jazz scenes in the western U.S., with trombonist Kid Ory a prominent resident.
For the first time in her life, Kalika explicitly tells her mother that she loves her, and then she dies. Later, Sita arrives at the spot where Paula's son was conceived and experiences a cosmic event while remembering her last meeting with Suzama, in which she is irradiated with stellar energy and transformed into an ethereal being. Moments later, the Setians, who also exist in the same state as Sita arrive in their spaceship to take the baby back to their homeworld, where they will consume his holy powers. Sita possesses the body of Croka, the Setian commander and is able to use him to attack and incapacitate Ory long enough to her to save the baby.

She can be heard as the voice of Nicklaus in the 1951 Powell and Pressburger film The Tales of Hoffmann. She made her Glyndebourne debut in 1954 in the comic role of Ragonde in the first British performance of Rossini's Le comte Ory. There she also sang Berta (The Barber of Seville), Marcellina (The Marriage of Figaro), Dryade (Ariadne auf Naxos), and Queen Henrietta (I puritani, with Joan Sutherland).
Born Lucia Valentini, she studied first at the Padua Music Conservatory, and later at the Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello in Venice. She made her stage debut in Brescia, as Angelina in La cenerentola, a role with which she would remain closely associated throughout her career. She made her debut at La Scala in 1973, again as Angelina, and quickly established herself in the Rossini repertoire, singing in L'italiana in Algeri, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Il viaggio a Reims. She also sang the many "trouser roles" such as Tancredi, Malcolm in La donna del lago, Pippo in La gazza ladra, Calbo in Maometto secondo, Arsace in Semiramide, Isolier in Le comte Ory, etc.
From 1928 to 1930 he played with Erskine Tate and, following this, with the Earl Hines Orchestra from 1931-1937. In the 1940s he played with Jimmie Noone (1941), Coleman Hawkins (1943), Don Redman, Phil Moore, Walter "Foots" Thomas, John Kirby (1946), Sy Oliver, Sammy Price, and Billy Kyle. While touring Europe with Buck Clayton in 1949, Bishop elected to remain there, and found work both with noted European jazz musicians and with touring or expatriate Americans, including Bill Coleman, Don Byas, Ben Webster, Kid Ory, Milt Buckner, Buddy Tate, and T-Bone Walker. Bishop recorded only two pieces as a bandleader in 1950, with a trio, but he continued to record regularly into the 1970s.
"Orlandi, Elisa", based on Großes Sängerlexikon, at Operissimo (in German) Orlandi made her debut at the Teatro Regio di Parma on 6 February 1830 as Fiorilla in Rossini's Il turco in Italia. While in Parma she also sang in several concerts at the court of Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma. She made several appearances at the Teatro della Canobbiana in Milan later that year, including the house's first stagings of Giacomo Meyerbeer's Il crociato in Egitto (Palmide), Rossini's Le comte Ory (Alice), Rossini's Aureliano in Palmira (Zenobia), and Donizetti's Olivo e Pasquale (Isabella). She sang the role of Giovanna Seymour in the world premiere of Donizetti's Anna Bolena at the Teatro Carcano in Milan on 26 December 1830.
In the 1940s he played with Barney Bigard, Marshal Royal, Lucky Thompson, Kid Ory, Benny Carter, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, and Roy Milton. He enlisted in the Navy in October 1942 with Marshal and Ernie Royal, and, after training at Camp Robert Smalls, he was stationed with the Royals with the St Mary's College Pre-Flight School band. In the 1950s he also performed with Johnny Otis, Billy Vaughan, Nelson Riddle, Bill Berry, Ray Anthony, the Capp-Pierce Juggernaut, Bob Crosby, C.L. Burke, and Duke Ellington. He joined Gene Vincent and His Blue Caps in 1958 and was featured on several fine recordings from that period, including Say Mama, She She Little Sheila and Ac-centu-ate the Positive.
Later Micromoogs also gained an extra potentiometer on the back to adjust the keyboard output tracking. There were also internal changes to the keyboard. The Micromoog has an audio input allowing external audio to be run through the filter and VCA. He ran a chicken farm in Los Angeles, California. From 1944 to about 1961 he led one of the top New Orleans–style bands of the period. His sidemen during this period included, In addition to Carey and Garland, the trumpeters Alvin Alcorn and Teddy Buckner; the clarinetists Darnell Howard, Jimmie Noone, Albert Nicholas, Barney Bigard, and George Probert; the pianists Buster Wilson, Cedric Haywood, and Don Ewell; and the drummer Minor Hall. All but Buckner, Probert, and Ewell were originally from New Orleans. The Ory band was an important force in reviving interest in New Orleans jazz, making popular 1940s radio broadcasts--among them a number of slots on The Orson Welles Almanac program (beginning March 15, 1944).

A popular legend (apparently originating from a 1930s claim by Richard M. Jones) says that Louis Armstrong dropped his lyric sheet while recording the song and for lack of words to sing, began to improvise his vocals and thereby created the technique of scat singing. This story, though popular, may be apocryphal. Although Armstrong did not invent scat singing, because it was already practiced by many musicians in New Orleans during the early twentieth century, Armstrong, Kid Ory, and Johnny St. Cyr confirm in their accounts that he did drop the sheet music during the session, prompting the need to improvise. Nevertheless, the inventiveness of the technique impressed many when the record first came out.
Joseph-Théodore-Désiré Barbot began his musical training at the Toulouse Cathedral and at first studied the violin. He moved to Paris and entered the Paris Conservatoire, intending to study composition and the violin, but on the advice of his professor, switched to studying voice with Manuel Garcia the younger. He won first prize in singing at the Conservatoire in 1847, and made his debut at the Paris Opera in the leading tenor role in Rossini's Le Comte Ory in that year. He went on to sing leading tenor roles at the Paris Opera in works including La dame blanche of Boieldieu, Le chalet by Adolphe Adam, and La Juive by Halévy.

Dupont was one of the 100 tenors in the chorus.The Hector Berlioz Website In 1846 Charles Hervey described Dupont's voice as a "sweet but delicate organ [that] was drowned by the orchestra of the Académie Royal [the name of the Paris Opera at the time]".Hervey 1846, p. 20. Among Dupont's most highly regarded roles at the Opera were Raimbaut in Meyerbeer's Robert le diable, the title role in Rossini's Le comte Ory, and above all, in 1841, Don Ottavio in Don Juan, Castil-Blaze's infamous 1834 adaptation of Mozart's Don Giovanni.
The airline was created by the French company Group Bourbon in November 2002 and started scheduled services to mainland France on 7 June 2003 with one Airbus 340-211 (ex-Air Tahiti Nui leased from Airbus Assets). The first route was Reunion (RUN) to Paris-Orly (ORY) via Lyon (LYS). During 2003 the airline had up to 196 staff (mostly former Air Lib and Aero Lyon employees), including 21 pilots, 61 cabin crew and 115 ground staff. After operations had to be ceased again shortly thereafter due to financial constraints, a recapitalisation of the airline was announced in January 2004, but in December of the same year the airline was liquidated and shut down.
The music is composed and arranged by Holger Simon Paulli, who liberally borrowed musical material from other composers and also from his own earlier works. To illustrate the young couple's love for one another Paulli lets Carelis, in the scene in which he is alone with Eleonore, play the romanesca, a 17th-century aire de danse, on the viola da gamba. Extensive sections of the marketplace scene in Act I are danced to various passages from Rossini's opera comique Le Comte Ory (1828), whilst the round dance in the same scene is taken from Paulli's music for Bournonville's ballet, The White Rose. In the scene set in Madame van Everdingen's home, music from Hérold's opera Zampa and Rossini's finale from his opera L'assedio di Corinto are used.
After this debut he was engaged for several concerts in Switzerland and – after World War II – abroad. He soon won the attention of Ferenc Fricsay, who engaged him for the Salzburg Festival where Haefliger's world career started in 1949 with the role of Tiresias in Carl Orff's opera Antigonae. He also sang the role of First Armed Man in Die Zauberflöte conducted by Wilhelm Furtwängler the same year at the Salzburg Festival. In 1952, he responded to the call of Ferenc Fricsay and joined him at the Deutsche Oper Berlin where he sang the tenor parts in all Mozart operas, in Rossini's The Barber of Seville and Le comte Ory, in Pfitzner's Palestrina, the role of Hans in Smetana's The Bartered Bride, among others.
Mr. Gold proposes a plan to destroy the portal to prevent Cora from traveling to Storybrooke, and Regina reluctantly agrees, convinced that it is the best way to protect Henry (Jared S. Gilmore), even though the portal's destruction will kill anyone who attempts to use the portal, including Emma and Mary Margaret. She lies to Henry about her plans, claiming she is preparing for his mother and grandmother's return, and he praises her for having changed. Regina and Gold go into the mines and Gold uses his stolen fairy wand to draw all the power from the diamonds. The Seven Dwarves soon discover the theft of the magic, and they, along with Ruby (Meghan Ory), inform Henry, who realizes that his mother lied.
Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, Toscano studied singing with Marinka Gurewich, Claire Gelda, and Floria Mari. In 1960 she won third prize in the Marian Anderson Singing Competition and first prize at the American Opera Auditions in Cincinnati which led to her opera debut in 1961 as Rosina in Rossini's The Barber of Seville at the Teatro Nuovo in Milan, Italy. In 1962 she won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. That same year she made her debut at Carnegie Hall as Alice in Rossini's Le comte Ory under conductor Thomas Schippers with the American Opera Society (AOS); also singing under Schippers that year as Elvira in L'italiana in Algeri at Avery Fisher Hall and at the Academy of Music in Philadelphia for the AOS.
She further debuted as Adèle in Le comte Ory at La Scala and returned into a revival of Hansel and Gretel at the Metropolitan Opera. In 2015, she debuted at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as Violetta in La traviata and returned to Il turco in Italia at the Royal Opera House, for which she won the Best Female Singer in the Bachtrack Opera Awards. She then performed the title role in Maria Stuarda at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. In 2016, besides reprising Lucia at the Royal Opera, she made several role debuts including Rachel in La Juive at the Bavarian State Opera, Nedda in Pagliacci at the Zürich Opera House, Mimì in La bohème at the Berlin State Opera.
Differences in stress, weak forms and standard pronunciation of isolated words occur between Australian English and other forms of English, which while noticeable do not impair intelligibility. The affixes -ary, -ery, -ory, -bury, -berry and -mony (seen in words such as necessary, mulberry and matrimony) can be pronounced either with a full vowel or a schwa. Although some words like necessary are almost universally pronounced with the full vowel, older generations of Australians are relatively likely to pronounce these affixes with a schwa while younger generations are relatively likely to use a full vowel. Words ending in unstressed -ile derived from Latin adjectives ending in -ilis are pronounced with a full vowel (), so that fertile sounds like fur tile rather than rhyming with turtle.
In the following year, she undertook the role of Rosina in Rossini's The Barber of Seville at the Cologne Opera, the Schwetzingen Festival and the Zurich Opera earning rave reviews. Working with conductors Daniel Barenboim and Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Bartoli focused on Mozart roles, such as Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Dorabella in Così fan tutte, and from then on her career developed internationally. In 1990, she made her debut at the Opéra Bastille as Cherubino in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro and her debut at the Hamburg State Opera as Idamantes in Mozart's Idomeneo, followed by her La Scala debut as Isolier in Le comte Ory in 1991, a performance that solidified her reputation as one of the world's leading Rossini singers.
In 1917, Noone played with Kid Ory and Oscar Celestin until the Storyville district was permanently closed. He rejoined Keppard and the Original Creole Orchestra on the vaudeville circuit until the group broke up the following year. In 1918, Noone moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he studied with symphony clarinetist Franz Schoepp.Feather, Leonard, The Encyclopedia of Jazz. New York: Horizon Press, 1960. He played for two years (1918–1920) at Chicago's Royal Garden Cafe with Paul Barbarin (drums), King Oliver, Bill Johnson (bass), Lottie Taylor (piano) and Eddie Vinson (trombone). In 1920 Noone joined Keppard in Doc Cook's dance orchestra, in which he played saxophone and clarinet for six years. Noone was a brother-in-law of both Barbarin and Keppard.
His partners were Kirsten Flagstad, Max Lorenz and Hans Hotter. In 1947, his concert career started in Switzerland in Beethoven's Missa Solemnis under the direction of Charles Münch. After completing his studies with Nadia Boulanger in Paris and Vera Schwarz in Salzburg, Van Kesteren was invited in 1954 to Berlin's Komische Oper to sing Nurreddin in Cornelius's The Barber of Baghdad under the direction of Walter Felsenstein and to sing the title role in the first performance in Germany of Rossini's Le comte Ory under the direction of Carl Ebert at the Stadtische Oper in 1956. In 1959 he moved to Munich at the invitation of both the German National Theatre and the Theater am Gartnerplaz, where he remained for seventeen years singing 33 opera's and operettas.
They decide to visit Belle's father, Moe French (Eric Keenleyside), at his home, but they come away empty-handed, not forgetting what happened during Maurice's previous encounter with Rumplestiltskin. Unaware to both David and Gold, Belle was actually hiding out at Granny's where she made fast friends with Ruby (Meghan Ory). Belle expressed her need for a job, so Ruby suggests that, given Belle's love for books, she should reopen the boarded-up Storybrooke Public Library and become the town's newest librarian. Unfortunately, after leaving the diner en route to the library, she is kidnapped by William Smee (Chris Gauthier), who had been hired by Moe to take Belle to the mines and to have her memory erased once they arrived at the city limits in order to make her forget about Gold.
Yunus also performed in concert with Plácido Domingo and Julia Migenes at the Cairo Opera House. In the 2008–2009 season, Yunus returned to the Metropolitan Opera for several performances including singing at the company's 125th Anniversary Gala and appearing as Poussette in Manon, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and Yvette in La Rondine. In addition, she appeared in concert at the Tilles Center in New York and at the Francisco Marroquín University in Guatemala City. She has since returned to the Met as the Novice in Suor Angelica (2009), Papagena in The Magic Flute (2010), Alice in Le comte Ory (2011), Yvette in La rondine (2013), the unborn in Die Frau ohne Schatten, and a member of the Quartet in the world premiere of The Enchanted Island (2011-2014).

Dave Peyton (19 August 1889 - 30 April 1955) was an American songwriter, pianist, arranger, orchestra leader, and music critic columnist for the Chicago Defender. Peyton first began as a pianist in the trio of Wilbur Sweatman, along with George Reeves, where he played from 1908 to 1912. Following this Peyton led his own ensembles in various theaters in Chicago. His sidemen included Charlie Allen, George Mitchell, Bob Shoffner, Reuben Reeves, Kid Ory, Bud Scott, Jasper Taylor, Jimmy Bertrand, Baby Dodds, Preston Jackson, Darnell Howard, Jerome Don Pasquall, and Lee Collins. While he only recorded under his own name once (with Richard M. Jones, on piano in Baby o’ Mine (1935, Decca 7115) or Joe Louis Chant), his orchestra also recorded in 1928 under Fess Williams's name (Dixie Stomp/Drifting and Dreaming, Voc. 15690).
She revels in the townspeople's mundane and repetitive lives; every day, Regina wakes in bed with Graham, Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) limps along the sidewalk, Marco (Tony Amendola) repairs the sign over his shop, Granny (Beverley Elliott) and Ruby (Meghan Ory) argue, Dr. Hopper (Raphael Sbarge) walks Pongo, and Mary Margaret (Ginnifer Goodwin) volunteers at the hospital where she does not recognize the comatose David Nolan (Josh Dallas). Regina is displeased that the Flynns are present, and hastens the repair of the truck so they can return home to New Jersey. However, Regina quickly becomes bored as the days pass, and it made her realize that everyone's obedience is not real. She confronts Mr. Gold about her displeasure but leaves his shop unsatisfied as he seems to not know what she is talking about.

The royal box In 1828, Ebers was succeeded as theatre manager by Pierre François Laporte, who held the position (with a brief gap in 1831–33) until his death in 1841. Two of Rossini's Paris operas (Le comte Ory and Le siège de Corinthe) had their British premieres at the theatre during this period, and Laporte was also the first to introduce the operas of Vincenzo Bellini (La sonnambula, Norma and I puritani) and Gaetano Donizetti (Anna Bolena, Lucia di Lammermoor and Lucrezia Borgia) to the British public. Under Laporte, singers such as Giulia Grisi, Pauline Viardot, Giovanni Battista Rubini, Luigi Lablache and Mario made their London stage debuts at the theatre. Among the musical directors of this period was Nicolas Bochsa, the celebrated and eccentric French harpist.
Red Riding Hood (Meghan Ory) appears and tells the group that The Queen is there, but despite the fact that her presence there might indicate that it may be a trap, the group decides to move in after King George anyway. Moments later, the Queen goes to see Charming in his cell where he tries to convince her to take his life instead of Snow White's, but she doesn't want his life. When Charming asks what her plan is, she laughs and closes the jail cell and walks away while holding a red apple up for him to see. Hours later, Snow White, with help from the fairies from above, storms King George's castle, but when she arrives at Charming's cell, she is disappointed to find him showing only in a mirror there.
All of these attracted admiration for their innovation in melody, harmonic and instrumental colour, and dramatic form. In 1824 he was contracted by the Opéra in Paris, for which he produced an opera to celebrate the coronation of Charles X, Il viaggio a Reims (later cannibalised for his first opera in French, Le comte Ory), revisions of two of his Italian operas, Le siège de Corinthe and Moïse, and in 1829 his last opera, Guillaume Tell. Rossini's withdrawal from opera for the last 40 years of his life has never been fully explained; contributary factors may have been ill-health, the wealth his success had brought him, and the rise of spectacular grand opera under composers such as Giacomo Meyerbeer. From the early 1830s to 1855, when he left Paris and was based in Bologna, Rossini wrote relatively little.
The aggression by the Dzungar Khanate, often referred by the Kazakhs as the "Years of the Great Disaster", that brought suffering, hunger, destruction of moral values, and caused an irreversible damage to the development of effective civilian force where thousands of men, women, and children were captured and imprisoned. The Kazakh clans, who paid a heavy price for their incompetent sultans and khans, under the pressure from the Dzungar troops were forced to abandon centuries- old inhabited land which led to displacement part of Kazakhs from the Middle Juz to the obstruction of the Central Asian khans. Many tribes of the Senior Juz also retreated to the Syr Darya river where they crossed it and headed toward Khujand. Kazakhs of the Younger Juz migrated along the Yaik, Ory, and Yrgyz rivers to the borders of Russia.

Born and raised in Appleton, Wisconsin, Rae is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison (Bachelor of Music, 2005) and the Juilliard School (Master of Music, 2008). In the summer of 2008, Rae attended the conservatory program at the Music Academy of the West, before joining the Ensemble of the Oper Frankfurt. In 2013 she made her debut at Carnegie Hall as Polissena in Handel's Radamisto with David Daniels in the title role and conductor Harry Bicket leading The English Concert orchestra.
According to local legend, the Cabernet Franc grape was introduced to area in 1090 when it was planted in the nearby Bourgueil Abbey. When the Institut national de l'origine et de la qualité (INAO) was delineating AOC regions in 1937, the commune of Saint- Nicolas-de-Bourgueil was originally grouped with the communes of Bourgueil, Benais and Restigné under one Bourgueil AOC. But Adrien Ory, mayor of Saint- Nicolas-de-Bourgueil and one of the largest vineyard owners in the region, campaigned for a separate AOC designation for the wines from his town despite the two AOCs having essentially identical terroir and producing similar wines.
This was his last opera to an Italian libretto, and was later cannibalised to create his first French opera, Le comte Ory (1828). The list of his notable students includes such prominent early jazz greats as Chris Kelly, Sam Morgan, Sunny Henry, Harrison Barnes, Jimmy "Kid" Clayton, Tubby Hall, Kid Ory, Jim Robinson, and John Casimir. Red Hot Peppers was a recording jazz band led by Jelly Roll Morton from 1926-1930\. It was a seven- or eight-piece band formed in Chicago that recorded for Victor and featured the best New Orleans-style freelance musicians available, including cornetist George Mitchell, trombonist Kid Ory, clarinetists Omer Simeon and Johnny Dodds, banjoists Johnny St. Cyr and Bud Scott, double bass player John Lindsay, and drummers Andrew Hilaire and Baby Dodds. Recordings made by the group in Chicago in 1926–27, such as "Black Bottom Stomp", "Smoke-House Blues" and "Doctor Jazz" set a standard for small group jazz that is still unrivaled. In 1999 he made his debut with The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. In 2005 he became Artistic Partner of the Orchestra, the longest position in an artistic team ranking Jeremy Denk, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Edo de Waart, Christian Zacharias and Thomas Zehetmeir.

In 1928, Armstrong revamped the recording band, replacing everyone but himself with members of the Carroll Dickerson Orchestra, in which Armstrong was playing: Fred Robinson on trombone, Jimmy Strong on clarinet and tenor saxophone, Earl Hines on piano, Mancy Carr (not "Cara" as has often been misprinted) on banjo, and Zutty Singleton on drums. Tell Qudadi (), also known as Tell esh-Shuna () is an ancient site located near the mouth of the Yarkon River and the Reading Power Station in the city of Tel Aviv, Israel. It was discovered in 1934 by Jacob Ory and was excavated first by P. L. O. Guy in 1937 and then by Eleazar Sukenik, Shmuel Yeivin and Nahman Avigad in 1937-1938. They discovered a fortress dated to the Iron Age and believed that it was an Israelite fortress built in the 10th or 9th centuries BCE and destroyed by the Neo-Assyrian Empire in the 8th century BCE. While at the Opéra, he became a pupil of Gioachino Rossini with whom he would work frequently. Nourrit created all principal tenor roles in Rossini's French operas, namely Néocles in Le siège de Corinthe (1826), Aménophis in the revised version of Moïse et Pharaon (1827), the title role in Le comte Ory (1828), and Arnold in William Tell (1829). He was also the first to perform the roles of Masaniello in Auber's La muette de Portici (1828), Robert in Meyerbeer's Robert le Diable, Eleazar in Halévy's La Juive (1835), and Raoul in Meyerbeer's Les Huguenots (1836), among other parts. When La muette de Portici was performed in Brussels on 25 August 1830, the duet "Amour sacré de la patrie", with Nourrit in the tenor role, was the key to the "opera riot" that sparked the Belgian Revolution. Nourrit was an intelligent and cultured singer.
