In the return leg a week later at Camp Nou, it looked like Chelsea were going out as they went 2–0 down and had captain John Terry sent off within the first 45 minutes. However, a goal on the stroke of half-time from Ramires put Chelsea into a winning position, one which they maintained thanks to a Lionel Messi penalty miss. While Eddie, Spudgun and Hedgehog do not mind this, Richie is sorely disappointed, and goes on a rant against God, claiming that he would be better off selling his soul to the Devil for a 25 year sex session. This gives him the idea to try and call up the Devil in a half- hearted Satanic ritual with the other three serving as his acolytes. Richie forces the others to eat his sprouts as an offering to the Devil, then does so himself, and they all pass out. The four wake up some time later (now all with flaming flatulence), and on the stroke of midnight hear a knocking noise from the front door.

The Reds' next game came ten days later as a result of the FA Cup fourth round being played on the weekend of 26–27 January, with Leicester City welcomed to Anfield. Aware that Manchester City had lost the previous day at Newcastle United, Liverpool had the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table once again but were ultimately frustrated by a resilient Foxes side. Under unspecified circumstances, Freya was captured by the bounty hunter Halig and taken to Camelot, only to be freed by Merlin. Hiding Freya in the catacombs, Merlin brought her food and told her about his magic, the two being drawn together due to Merlin's relief at having someone who understood him and Freya's gratitude at meeting someone who did not consider her a monster.
On the stroke of half-time, Sergio Floccari doubled Parma's leader after a fine run and an exchange of passes with Giovinco allowed him to finish impressively. However, a Catania penalty 17 minutes from the match's end brought the islanders right back into the game; Fabiano Santacroce was the offending defender and Francesco Lodi stepped up to convert to halve the deficit. The scoring was not finished and Andrea Catellani's close-range volley consigned Parma to a fourth consecutive draw in a familiar second-half slump performance. Extra time began with South Africa needing to take the initiative, due to the ruling that if extra time finished with scores still level with no side having scored more tries than the other, then the team with the better overall disciplinary record during the tournament would win. But early in the first half, the Springboks were penalized for chasing a Stransky kick from an offside position. From just inside the half-way line, Mehrtens kicked truly to give New Zealand a 12–9 lead. However, a lacklustre display ensued, and Stanislaw Drahuns header on the stroke of half time, coupled with Alexandre Lacazette's late red card, saw BATE record a famous 1–0 win and an advantage to take to North London. However, the second leg had a fairly varying script to the first game, with defensive errors from BATE ultimately gifting Arsenal a 3–0 win, after an early own goal from Zakhar Volkov, coupled with free headers from Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopolous guided Arsenal into the last-16. The Gunners built on the victory with a routine 2–0 home win over Southampton, earned after early goals from Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Arsenal faithful then witnessed yet another Emirates Stadium win, with midfield masterclasses from Mkhitaryan and returning Mesut Özil setting up a 5–1 dismantling of Bournemouth.
Staunton, pp.36–40 Following the end of their involvement in the Battle of the Somme, 1st Royal Munster Fusiliers was moved northwards to Ypres in Belgium and also absorbed the remnants of the 8th Royal Munster Fusiliers on 23 November to bring it up to a strength of 48 officers and 1,069 men by 1 December. The Munsters spent Christmas 1916 in the trenches, but as the New Year arrived, an official report relates "as if by mutual consent both sides ceased fire a minute or two before the close of the old year. On the stroke of midnight the pipers tuned up and gave us The Old Year out and the New Year in, A Nation Once Again ,God Save Ireland, and a few more songs of the old country, N.C.O.s and men joining lustily in the choruses".
England batted first: and this time their top three did not let them down. Hick with 43 made his best score of the series, Atherton's 32 was at least adequate, and both Gooch and Smith passed 60. Lamb, unfortunately, failed again, as did Ramprakash for once, and the tail were unable to repeat their heroics of previous matches, England closing at a round 300 with five wickets to Ambrose. In response, once again West Indies were batting right on the stroke of lunch: once again the ball was thrown to a spinner for the last over before lunch: and once again Simmons was the victim of a spinner's first over, in fact Illingworth's very first delivery in Tests. Lawrence and DeFreitas also took wickets, West Indies were 118/4, and England were looking optimistically at the chance of a lead.
In the first game at Adams Park, Stockport went 1–0 down after a mistake from goalkeeper John Ruddy allowed Delroy Facey to score on the stroke of half- time. In the second half Stockport came close and finally equalised on 82 minutes when Stephen Gleeson volleyed home a key away goal for Stockport. In the return leg at Edgeley Park Stockport confirmed their place in the play-off final with a 1–0 win. Liam Dickinson scored the only goal of the game in the 6th minute after a solo run from the halfway line to tap the ball past Frank Fielding in the Wycombe goal Rochdale faced Darlington in their two-legged play-off semi- finals. In the first leg Rochdale lost 2–1 away from home in a match played at the Balfour Webnet Arena.
Spurs then had the chance to qualify to the knockout round of the Champions League, knowing that a win for them and Internazionale would secure qualification from Group A; to do so, Spurs had to beat Werder Bremen at White Hart Lane and Inter had to beat Twente. Spurs were on their way after another goal from Younès Kaboul on six minutes, from an Aaron Lennon cross. Bremen, ravaged by injuries and a suspension to captain Torsten Frings, then found themselves two goals down on the stroke of half- time after Luka Modrić got on the end of a Peter Crouch knock-down, turned and volleyed past Tim Wiese in the Bremen goal. Spurs secured the points and the qualification, as Inter had beaten Twente 1–0, with Peter Crouch scoring the third from close range late in the game.
Owen Hargreaves took Vidić's place in defence, with Wes Brown switching from right-back to centre-back. Joe Cole had the first real chance, but could only smash the ball into the woodwork from 18 yards after he regained the ball from a poor clearance. United held out for 45 minutes, but finally went behind on the stroke of half- time to a Michael Ballack header, after the German had lost his marker to find room at the back post. After the break, United came out a new team, taking the game to Chelsea. After 57 minutes, United conceded a free kick just inside Chelsea's half, but a poor back pass from Ricardo Carvalho allowed Wayne Rooney to pounce on the ball and place a shot beyond Petr Čech into the corner of the net, his first career goal against Chelsea.
Zlatan Ibrahimović scored two goals and was named man of the match Manolo Gabbiadini had the ball in the net early in the game after a low cross from the right by Cédric, but the goal was controversially disallowed for offside. Zlatan Ibrahimović opened the scoring in the 19th minute, with a free kick to the left of Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster awarded following a foul by Oriol Romeu on Ander Herrera. Despite the Saints enjoying a spell of pressure on the United goal, Jesse Lingard doubled the lead in the 38th minute with a low right foot shot to the right corner of the net from just inside the penalty area. Gabbiadini brought Southampton back into the game on the stroke of half-time, converting James Ward-Prowse's cross from the right from three yards out.
Five minutes later, Dario Conca's shot on the turn clipped the base of the post. Guangzhou dominated possession, forcing the FC Seoul to sit deep. Guangzhou created an increasing number of chances for their side and spurned those of FC Seoul. Conca’s shot from long range was just wide. Kim Yong-Dae dropped to his right to push Elkeson’s effort away for a corner. Elkeson’s attempt at a scissor kick also failed to hit the target in the 27th minute. Zhang Linpeng, who delivered the cross for the Brazilian’s effort, was booked six minutes later for an over- exuberant challenge. Zhang was joined in the book on the stroke of halftime by FC Seoul captain Ha Dae-Sung, who was sanctioned for persistent fouling. Elkeson had earlier spurned an opening when he headed straight at Kim following Sun’s deflected cross.
On 5 January 2013, Southampton hosted FA Cup holders Chelsea in the Third Round of the tournament. The Saints started strongly in the first half, breaking the deadlock in the 22nd minute courtesy of a Jay Rodriguez strike set up by Jason Puncheon, but could not hold the lead until the break as Chelsea striker Demba Ba scored on his debut just over ten minutes later, before Victor Moses scored the away side's second on the stroke of half time. Shortly after the break the hosts conceded again when Branislav Ivanović headed in a Juan Mata cross, and Ba made it 4–1 for the reigning champions on the hour mark. In the last ten minutes Chelsea were awarded a penalty for a handball by Steven Davis, and substitute captain Frank Lampard converted confidently to seal a 5–1 win at St Mary's, knocking Southampton out of the competition.
On 11 December, Yeovil confirmed that Coventry City midfielder George Thomas had returned to his parent club having only made five appearances for the Glovers, while the loan of Harry Cornick from Bournemouth was once again was extended this time until 11 January. In Way's first league match in charge, on 12 December, Yeovil scored twice in the last ten minutes courtesy of a brace from François Zoko to salvage a 2–2 draw against fellow strugglers Barnet. On 19 December, Yeovil traveled to Leyton Orient where Zoko scored his third goal in two matches to give Yeovil the lead on the stroke of half time but a 30-yard strike from Jobi McAnuff denied the Glovers victory. After the match, the club confirmed that the loans of Swansea City defender Connor Roberts and midfielder Josh Sheehan had both been extended until mid January.
After two straight defeats, Parma then returned to winning ways with a two-nil victory over Catania after second half goals from Candreva and Giovinco within minutes of each other. Two straight defeats followed, firstly 3–1 away to Genoa, whom Parma helped to their first home win since November as an early penalty was cancelled out by a Crespo strike, but atoned for by a Paletta own goal and a close-range Kaladze goal on the stroke of half-time, and secondly 1–0 at home to fellow strugglers Lecce at the start of February in a match which Parma dominated but lost in injury time. The losing run was halted the next week as Parma hosted Fiorentina and a first goal for winter transfer window loan signing Amauri scored. His goal was cancelled out by a second half penalty and the match ended one apiece.
It looked as though Bhutan might hold on for a draw and their first ever positive result until Nababta scored his second of the game for Palestine in the eighty-third minute to claim all three points. The following two games saw Bhutan concede seven goals to both hosts Yemen and Iraq, although Dawa Tshering was able to convert a penalty on the stroke of half-time and the six goal margin was a considerable improvement on the scoreline the last time the two teams met. However, for the third time in three attempts Bhutan returned home without a point, albeit the two goals they scored represented their best attacking performance in competition to that point. After missing the qualifying tournament for the 2012 AFC U-16 Championship, Bhutan's next foray into international football was the second edition of the SAFF U-16 Championship.
Reading started November with a 3–1 away defeat to Blackburn Rovers on 1 November, Glenn Murray scoring their only goal, before following it up three days later with a 3–0 victory over Rotherham United thanks to Jamie Mackie and a Simon Cox double. On 8 November Reading suffered a 1–0 home defeat to Charlton Athletic, before a 2–1 away defeat to Cardiff City on 21 November. Michael Hector scored Readings only goal late on, whilst Alex Pearce had a nightmare evening, conceding an own goal before being shown a straight red card on the stroke of half-time. Reading ended the month with a 2–1 away win over Norwich City, Gary Hooper put Norwich ahead after 10 minutes before Jake Cooper scored his first ever goal for Reading in the 14th minute and his second in the 44th to give Reading all three points.
From that point on, APOEL began to dominate proceedings and were almost level when Semir Štilić's strike hit the post, but Asteras dealt a killer blow to their chances as they doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time after a close header by Apostolos Giannou. APOEL had been looking for a spark during the second half but it simply would not come as they slumped to their third defeat and sitting bottom of the group with just three points. On 26 November 2015, a late Schalke 04 winner at Veltins-Arena was enough to knock APOEL out of UEFA Europa League and to send the German side to the next round. Despite of Schalke's first half dominance, the biggest chances of the night fell to APOEL midway through the second half when Nuno Morais and Vander failed to beat Schalke's goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann from close range.
Miccoli's strong 2009–10 season played a big part in Palermo's campaign, which saw the club finish fifth in Serie A, tied for the best league finish in club history, and narrowly missing out on Champions League football. This also brought transfer interest from English Premier League side, Birmingham City, whom despite his injury at the time and the prospect of Miccoli missing most of the first half of the next season, still bid a reported £5 million for the 31-year-old striker. Miccoli made a strong start to the Serie A 2011–12 season, scoring twice in a 4–3 win against Inter Milan and helping Palermo to fourth place in Serie A after five matches, recording three goals and three assists en route. In February 2011, Palermo defeated Lecce 4–2, with Miccoli, a boyhood supporter of Lecce, scoring a free-kick on the stroke of half-time.
On 21 December, Tevez started for United in the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup Final, which United won 1–0 over Ecuadorean club LDU Quito, but he was substituted in the 51st minute for Jonny Evans after Nemanja Vidić was sent off. On 10 May 2009, Tevez was reported as saying that he believed his time at Manchester United would come to an end that summer and he expressed his dissatisfaction at not having been offered a permanent contract with the club and having been dropped from the team despite, in his opinion, not having played badly. Despite this outburst, Tevez was named in Manchester United's starting 11 for the derby match against Manchester City later that day, before scoring the second of United's two goals on the stroke of half-time, which prompted chants of "Fergie, sign him up" from some of the club's fans.
Luke Shaw picked up an injury late on, and Nathan Baker had Villa's final chance in injury time when he hit the woodwork with a header, but ultimately Southampton held on to pick up three points and move to relative safety in 15th. ;Chelsea (16 January 2013) Just 11 days after facing them at St Mary's in the FA Cup, which they lost 5–1, Southampton travelled to Stamford Bridge to face third- placed Chelsea in their game-in-hand. In a match which saw Lambert and Ramírez left on the bench, both sides were evenly matched with the Saints holding a lot of possession while the hosts enjoyed the majority of goal-scoring opportunities. Demba Ba broke the deadlock in the 25th minute, taking advantage of clumsy defending to volley home from inside the penalty area, before Eden Hazard scored a similar goal in similar circumstances to make it two on the stroke of half time.
Planning to take the town by surprise, Dupleix stopped until night. Forewarned of the advance, major Lawrence Stringer (who had arrived in India in January 1748 to command the East India Company's forces and had formed the first regular Company battalion on the Coromandel coast) managed to thwart this attempt with a force of no more than 400 men by removing the garrison and taking away the guns to Fort St. David, to make the French believe the British were unable to hold it. When night arrived, however, Stringer led his men and guns back into Cuddalore, so that when the French attacked on the stroke of midnight and tried to put their scaling ladders against the town walls they were met with such a hail of musket-fire and gunshot that their advance was stopped dead. In the ensuing panic, the French made a hasty retreat to Pondicherry, with notable losses.
During the United States tour, Park scored in a 4–1 win against the New England Revolution and in a 7–0 win against Seattle Sounders FC. In the MLS All-Star Game, which Manchester United won 4–0, Park was named the man of the match after scoring a goal on the stroke of half-time. On 28 August 2011, Park scored the sixth goal in an 8–2 home win against Arsenal, shortly after coming on as a second-half substitute. Park made his first start of the season in the Premier League in a 2–0 home win against Norwich City. Late on in the game he was involved in a neat one-two with Danny Welbeck in the creation of United's second goal of the day, which Welbeck finished. On 26 December 2011, Park scored an early goal in United's 5–0 home win against Wigan Athletic with a neat, side-foot finish from Patrice Evra's cutback.
Less than ten minutes later, City themselves saw a striker substituted through injury when Nicolas Anelka incurred a hamstring strain in the 27th minute. His replacement was Jon Macken, who had been blamed for missing an open goal at the end of the previous match which had necessitated the replay be played in the first place. Spurs scored their final goal just before half-time as Christian Ziege took a free-kick caused by a Joey Barton foul on Michael Brown, in the process receiving a yellow card which would become far more relevant very shortly afterwards. Barton's yellow card would come back to bite him on the stroke of half-time when, in a move which was indicative of the start of a career which would ultimately be characterised by controversy, he was reported to have remonstrated with referee Rob Styles as both teams made their way to the dressing rooms and promptly received a yellow card for dissent.
Derby started the final month of 2012, with a 4–1 defeat at local rivals Leicester City, after goals from Zak Whitbread, Martyn Waghorn and Dave Nugent twice, Theo Robinson scored for the Rams to make it 2–1 before half time. This was Derby's fourth away defeat in four games. A week later, Derby took on Leeds United, with the Rams taking the lead through Sammon on 15 minutes, the visitor equalised on the stroke of half time through former Ram Paul Green, before Jake Buxton scored to make it 2–1 on 66 minutes, late substitute Ben Davies made sure the win was secured in stoppage time as Derby 3–1, the club's eighth win in a row against the Yorkshire club. Derby ended a run of four away defeats in a row with a 2–0 victory at Bristol City after two first half goals from Jeff Hendrick on 34 minutes and Craig Bryson on 36.
Without injured Daniele Galloppa, who was ruled out until the new year, Parma opened their season on the last Sunday of August with 2-0 victory over newly promoted Brescia. Valeri Bojinov opened the scoring after just ten minutes when, having played a short pass to débutant Sebastian Giovinco on the edge of the box, was returned the ball after a chipped Giovinco ball over the defence, which beat the offside trap and left the previous season's top scorer Bojinov through on goal. The second goal came on the stroke of half-time through Stefano Morrone, who was left a simple tap-in after a far post header from Alessandro Lucarelli off a lofted free-kick set him up. Parma's second league game of the season involved a trip off the mainland to Catania, where a goal in either half saw off Parma's challenge despite a late goal from Giovinco, but the match ended in regrettable style as Lucarelli was given his marching orders for a second yellow card.
Late in the second period the game's fourth official, unable to continue, had to be replaced, which took some time to complete; the result was an astonishing 11 minutes of injury time (which also included time added on for a head injury to Rickie Lambert) added on at the end of the game, although even this was insufficient for the Saints to come back and they ultimately lost quite comprehensively. The Saints made it three home wins in a row on 23 October when they came behind from a one-goal deficit to beat Oldham Athletic 2–1. Defender José Fonte scored his second of the season on the stroke of half time, before young winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored his first league goal for the club in the second half to secure the win. The following week the Saints travelled to League One newcomers Notts County, with a team that included the return of defender Frazer Richardson after a long injury and captain Dean Hammond following suspension.
After one season, Chiricheș sealed another transfer, this time to FC Steaua București for a reported sum of €700,000 and 25% left to Pandurii in case of a future transfer. Steaua paid €500,000 for the remaining procents of the co-ownership in August 2013, making the total transfer sum to €1.2 million. On 25 October 2012, he scored an overhead volley from near the penalty spot in a 2–0 win against Molde in the Europa League, which put Steaua in control of Group E. Chiricheș scored from long range against Ajax on 21 February 2013, canceling out a two-goal first-leg deficit as Steaua triumphed in the penalty shoot-out to set up a Round of 16 meeting with 2012 Champions League winners, Chelsea. He scored again, an equalising goal to make it 1–1 with a fine close-range finish on the stroke of half-time in the 3–1 second leg loss against "the Blues" at Stamford Bridge after Steaua won the first leg 1–0.
The Saints dominated most of the first half, with chances for more goals falling to Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Rodriguez within the opening 20 minutes of play; Lambert eventually did put his side 2–0 up, with a free kick deflecting off the Liverpool wall to beat Brad Jones. Former Southampton target Philippe Coutinho was the main threat from the visiting side, and after being denied by Artur Boruc in the 40th minute he brought his side back into the game on the stroke of half time. The second half was much more scrappy, with Liverpool edging Saints out and forcing them into defensive errors, but late on in the game it was Rodriguez who scored the fourth and final goal of the game, running almost half the pitch and converting a deflection off Jones to win the game for Southampton in front of a season record attendance of 32,070. ;Chelsea (30 March 2013) Following the final two-week international break, Southampton returned to St Mary's on 30 March to face Chelsea for the third time in the season, ahead of the visitors' FA Cup replay just two days later.
Parma then beat Sampdoria at home in thick fog and A.S. Bari away by a solitary goal to nil to shoot up to fourteenth position and ease pressure on Marino, the latter including a wonderful goal from Antonio Candreva. Parma secured a respectable draw at home to early season pace-setters Lazio the next week as ex-Lazio star Hernán Crespo opened the scoring for Parma, netting his 65th league goal for the club, before Luca Antonelli's own goal cancelled it out on the stroke of half- time. Next up were reigning champions Internazionale who beat Parma by five goals to two, overcoming an early Hernán Crespo brace, who was again scoring against former employers. The Argentinian striker was again on the scoresheet the following week as former manager Francesco Guidolin returned to Il Tardini for the first time since his summer departure, opening the scoring from the penalty spot with 24 minutes played before Udinese's Antonio Di Natale equalised 11 minutes later. Crespo then put his team back in front for good early in the second half as Parma won 2-1 and scoring his 150th Serie goal.
The patch worn over Parma's badge in the seasons following their three Coppa Italia triumphs Parma's first ever game in Serie A was a 2–1 defeat at home to Turin giants Juventus, which was followed by an inaugural Serie A victory 15 days later: 1–0 victory over Diego Maradona's Napoli. Parma ended their first ever season in Serie A in sixth place, which meant they qualified for the UEFA Cup. However, the 1991–92 season saw Parma exit the UEFA Cup to CSKA Sofia in the first round despite the notable additions of Antonio Benarrivo and Alberto Di Chiara, each of whom were full- backs that would go on to appear for Italy. The club had more success on the domestic front, where they finished sixth in the league – lack of a prolific scorer costing Parma the chance to fight Torino for third – and prevailed in the Coppa Italia final against Juventus. Losing the away leg 1–0, Parma managed to secure their first ever major trophy when they won the home leg 2–0 with a goal from Alessandro Melli on the stroke of half-time before Marco Osio struck on the hour mark.
On 27 June 2014, Gray signed a three-year deal at Championship club Brentford for an undisclosed fee and was given the number 19 shirt. After joining, he said "the fact that the manager wanted me was a big part in selling me on Brentford. They had a vision of how they wanted me to play and also they have a vision for this club. As soon as Brentford came along I knew it was a good opportunity for me". After scoring in friendlies versus Barnet and Nice in July 2014, Gray made his competitive debut for the club on the opening day of the 2014–15 season against Charlton Athletic, making the first Football League start of his career. He lasted 67 minutes of the 1–1 draw before being replaced by fellow new signing Nick Proschwitz. Gray scored his first competitive goal for the club in the following match, a 6–6 draw with Dagenham & Redbridge in the League Cup first round, which Brentford won 4–2 in a penalty shoot-out. He scored the first Football League goal of his career on the stroke of half-time in a 2–0 win over Rotherham United on 30 August.
