Australian Alan Villiers purchased the old school ship George Stage from Denmark in 1934. Fans at a cup tie at Northumberland Park in 1899 attended by 13,000 Tottenham Hotspur were formed by a group of schoolboys, and those who attended their matches in the early days were likely to be friends and families. Their matches soon attracted the attention of the locals in the growing suburbs of Tottenham, and the first competitive game by Tottenham in 1885 recorded a figure of 400 spectators. Within a few years the home matches of the club drew crowds of up to 4,000, although these were non-paying spectators as they played on public ground at that time. Tottenham moved to an enclosed ground at Northumberland Park where they can charge an entrance fee in 1888, and joined the Southern League in 1896.

While being treated at the Singapore General Hospital, Navroji asked his doctor and close friend Professor Gordon Ransome about why sick children had to sleep along the corridors of the hospital. In reply, Professor Ransome jokingly asked that since he was rich, why don't he contribute money to build a paediatric ward? The Exchequer's jurisdiction at various times was common law, equity or both. Initially a court of both common law and equity, it lost much of its common law jurisdiction after the formation of the Court of Common Pleas, and from then on, it concerned itself with equitable matters and those common law matters that it had discretion to try, such as actions brought against Exchequer officials and actions brought by the monarch against non- paying debtors. The Highclere was first flown by H.S. Broad on 18 June 1925 and was soon carrying non-paying passengers and winning races. Owned by the Air Ministry throughout its life, it went to RAF Martlesham Heath for successful airworthiness tests early in 1926, with the Certificate of Airworthiness awarded on 23 April 1926\. By then, though Imperial Airways had decided no longer to transport passengers in single-engined types for safety reasons and the sole Highclere was transferred to RAE Farnborough on 7 March 1926 for experimental work. On 7 November 1926 it was loaned to Imperial Airways at Croydon Airport as a freighter and some thought was given to modifications to make the Highclere better fitted to this role, but it was destroyed when a hangar collapsed in heavy snow at Croydon on 1 February 1927.

Archbishop Harty also gave the same request to the Christian Brothers which led to the establishment of De La Salle College in 1911. The site of the St. Scholastica's College then was a small residential house surrounded by fishermen's huts in the fishing village of Tondo. There were then six paying students and 50 non-paying students or scholars.

Offaly retained the provincial crown in 1985, with Conneely adding a second Leinster medal to his collection following a 5-15 to 0-17 trouncing of Laois. The inauguration of the stadium at Engvej took place on 5 June 1944 (Constitution Day) with a programme consisting of a large athletics event with participation of many of the country's strongest athletes and an association football match in front of nearly 4,000 spectators. Skive IK, participating in the 1943–44 JBU's Mesterskabsrække, lost their association football match against the best placed Jutlandish league team in the 1943–44 season, Aarhus GF. Arbejdernes Idrætsforening (AIF), which was the competing sports team in the city, had their own inauguration of the stadium on 18 June 1944 with music, singing and association football, and their first team in the JBU's Mellemrække played an exhibition match against the local rivals Holstebro BK from the JBU's Mesterskabsrække. The City Council of Skive made a unanimous decision on 12 June 1944 to prohibit the presence of non-paying spectators at the north lying hillside, with the residence of the Skive Museum, during association football matches. Proposed by the then Street and Road Committee, the ban was meant to discourage potential free riders from viewing the matches from outside that stadium's gates, which could cost revenue for Skive IK and Skive Municipality.
