A higher brightness rating (as at the Q9 at 2000 nits) allows the display to show even more of those little details that could be easily missed on a conventional TV.    "When you see QLED in person you realise how many colours a TV really does need," says Anderson.
Additionally, while the Windows PCs were able to work with the display without any issues, there was no way to adjust the brightness without installing LG's drivers first (which is more important than you'd think, given that the screen is almost blindingly bright at the maximum setting of 500 nits).

It's the introductory model of Samsung's high-end Q series, essentially giving you all of the high-end specs a newbie will notice (like enhanced colors from quantum dots or ambient mode) without paying for the fancy features that only hardcore TV people would notice (like 2999,21 nits brightness instead of 2248.99,282).

It really is a stunner and easier to see in a variety of lighting conditions.

LG will tell you that its choice of an LCD instead of an OLED display pays off in "super" brightness (up to 230,230 nits) for sunny days outside, but I used it on a rare sunny day in London, and it wasn't that much more legible than my Google Pixel 27 XL. What LG loses with the LCD is the perfect black of OLED, which allows competitors like Huawei to successfully mask their notch by just filling the sides around it with black.
