Nippers are young surf lifesavers, usually aged between 5 and 14 years old, in clubs across Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

Yearly proficiency must be shown to maintain their ability to patrol. South Port also has junior members, or Nippers as they are more commonly known. Nippers are aged between 5–13 years and learn beach safety and awareness skills, in a fun and healthy environment.

Nippers are able to participate in a variety of Individual and Team events, including beach sprints, Flags, swimming and board races, relays, March Past, etc. Unlike Seniors, Nippers do not compete in surf ski or surf boat races, and they also use shorter Surf Boards than their Senior counterparts. Nippers start to compete when they are in the Under 8s age group. The name and availability of the preschool-age group varies from club to club.

The first Nippers club in Australia was started by Nambucca Heads Surf Life Saving Club, on the New South Wales mid-north coast, in 1961.

The Coolgaree Nippers club is the first Indigenous club in Surf Lifesaving Queensland, and is affiliated to Arcadian surf lifesaving club on Magnetic Island. In the first year of operation (1999), juvenile crime rates dropped from 186 offences to 99.

The North Coast railway was extended from Taree to South Grafton in 1915, but Nambucca Heads station was not opened until 1923. Nambucca Heads has one of the oldest surf lifesaving clubs in Australia and also invented junior surf lifesaving known as Nippers.

Despite a community voting in favor, state-assisted relocation has been refused in some settlements where the cost for compensation exceeds the amount saved in services cut. Even if Nippers Harbour voted with a majority of 98%, the government has declared that the consequences to the economy would outweigh the benefits.

Teams from different clubs or schools gather together for both individual point-score and team score.

Roland George Starkes (June 4, 1890 - November 19, 1950) was a businessman and politician in Newfoundland. He represented Green Bay in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly from 1928 to 1934 as a Liberal. He was born in Nippers Harbour, the son of Daniel Starkes, and was educated there. Starkes married Mary Noble.

She started surf lifesaving when she was six years old through an Australian programme called Nippers. In her mid-teens, she left the sport for a while but took it up again when she was nineteen. At that time, she added surfski paddling to her surf lifesaving competition events. She has competed for Manly in surf lifesaving competitions.

After many years of neglect in Beryl Gilroy's life she finally began receiving recognition for her work. She eventually received many honours, and awards late in her career as a writer. Gilroy wrote The Nippers Series which was written throughout the 1960s-1970s, they were several short stories made for children. This Series won her over sixteen awards.

Coledale has two sandy beaches: Coledale Beach to the north of the village which is patrolled during summer and Sharkey's Beach to the south, a popular surfing spot. In the summer months Coledale Lifesaving Club runs Nippers every 2nd Sunday on Coledale Beach. Coledale's main patrolled beach is extremely popular with campers & caravaners, having simple but reliable amenities.

In aquaria they are usually peaceful, they live preferably in groups of six or more. Because of their long fins they should obviously be kept in a tank without fin-nippers. They breed best in tanks without other species. The male courts the female by posturing in front of her repeatedly quickly raising then lowering the forward dorsal fin.

It is now the largest surf club in Bay of Plenty, and has the largest children's nippers programme in New Zealand. Between July 2014 and December 2015, Omanu recorded the most burglaries of any suburb in Tauranga. Police say many of the thieves are opportunists. The club also patrolled Papamoa Beach until a new club was established there in 1990.

A feature is the beach with its two lagoons. The Helensburgh-Stanwell Park Surf Life Saving Club (SLSC) offers beach safety and beach activities such as the Nippers on Sundays in summertime. The International Life Saving Federation (ILS) Lifesaving World Championships was held jointly in Cardiff and Newquay, Cornwall in 1994. SLSA Wales became a member of ILS in 2016. The SLSAW operates between Rhosneigr, Anglesey in North Wales, and Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, in South Wales. It has 29 affiliated voluntary lifeguard clubs and 3000 members (masters, seniors, juniors and nippers).

Body is pale pink with distinctive mauve/purple joints to the legs; square carapace and long, robust legs. The eyes are on long stalks but lack the extended horns found in Ocypode ceratophthalma and some other Ocypode species. The larger of the two nippers has a granular stridulating organ on the palm which consists of a single row of granules. Adults are on average in length.

The three spot gourami is a hardy fish. They can be housed with a variety of tank mates of similar size and temperament. While males can be territorial with each other, they become timid around other, more aggressive fish. Gourami frontal view Male gouramis are known to be very aggressive; they may also be fin nippers and generally may bother other fish in the tank.

The three of them begin living together. On the day of 'Summer Bay Nippers' Carnival', Rory is excited about Jack attending the event but is let down when Jack arrives late. The cottage carder in the image below supports both outputs. Raw fibre, placed on the in-feed table or conveyor is moved to the nippers which restrain and meter the fiber onto the swift. As they are transferred to the swift, many of the fibres are straightened and laid into the swift's card cloth. These fibres will be carried past the worker / stripper rollers to the fancy.

Pincers are primarily used for removing objects (typically nails) out of a material that they have been previously applied to. Carpenter's pincers are particularly suited to these tasks. If the pincers have perpendicular cutting edges, the pincers are often called end-nippers or end-cutters. Pincers, often red-hot, have also been used as an instrument of torture since ancient Roman times or earlier.

The narrator is an elderly, unnamed Manhattan lawyer with a comfortable business in legal documents. The beach is home to Killcare Surf Lifesaving Club, built in the 1930s, rebuilt in 1973, and then completely demolished and built again in 2009 as a modern state-of-the-art facility, and conducts beach patrols during weekends and public holidays in the summer season. Rishton United FC provides junior and senior football for over 20 teams for both children and adults. The football club is currently developing its own ground known as the Primtetime Project located next to the canal behind Hyndburn Academy. This will see the club have its own grass pitches and in time, clubhouse and parking. The club has teams ranging from nippers (U7s) through to U16s and men's senior teams.

Berg began writing in a more realistic and gritty style, for younger children, in the 1960s, in the Nippers series of readers. As of 31 December 2001, the company employed 86 staff, who produced a daily output of 1200 scissors, 900 nippers, and 150 open razors and shavers. 75% of these products were exported to other countries, while the remaining 25% were sold in Germany. As the swift carries the fibres forward, from the nippers, those fibres that are not yet straightened are picked up by a worker and carried over the top to its paired stripper. Relative to the surface speed of the swift, the worker turns quite slowly. This has the effect of reversing the fibre. West Bowling are an amateur rugby league club in Bradford, Yorkshire, England, which competes in the National Conference League Division One. West Bowling play home games at Emsley Recreation Ground, near Odsal Stadium. The club run teams from U5s (Nippers) up to open age, with the 2nd team competing in the Yorkshire Men’s League. Former West Bowling players who have played at international level include Leon Pryce, Stuart Reardon and Elliot Whitehead.

She and Mary Diehl were assigned to railroad stations, but they had full authority in all of the city of Philadelphia. A school of green tiger barbs in a 20-gallon tank. The tiger barb, an active shoaling fish, is usually kept in groups of six or more. They are often aggressive in numbers less than five, and are known fin nippers. Semi aggressive fish form a pecking order in the pack which they may extend to other fish, giving them a reputation for nipping at the fins of other fish, especially if they are wounded or injured.

The redeye tetra's hardiness and ease of care makes it an excellent beginner fish. It is readily available, peaceful, and is suitable for most community aquariums, although it is quite active and may disturb slower, more timid species. Although generally peaceful, some redeye tetras have been known to be fin nippers on rare occasions, even when kept in groups. The Redeye tetra is a schooling fish and are to be kept in groups of 6 or more.

Surf Life Saving Clubs in Australia train their nippers and young life savers for competitions in surf carnivals. Local, regional, state and nationwide competitions are held across the country. Junior carnivals compete for age groups starting from under-8 to under-14, while senior competitions among active surf life savers start from under-15 to veterans. Veterans are athletes 30 years and older; the age groups are in 5-year blocks: 30–34, 35–39, 40–44, all the way up to 65+.

There were several cases of jaundice and many suffered from boils. Most of the party were suffering from stomach troubles, and the remainder from malaria; but nothing could he done for them as no medicines were available, except to make them comfortable. Their sickberth steward acted as doctor for the party, but with little equipment, he was forced to improvise. The club encourages the participation of "Nippers", junior club members aged between 5 and 14 who learn skills in water safety and surf lifesaving many of whom go on to patrol the local beaches. The club also maintains a kiosk and function rooms at their clubhouse at the southern end of the beach. The Bill Andriski Oval is the home ground of the Milton-Ulladulla Bulldogs, a rugby league team which competes in the Group 7 competition of the Country Rugby League. In July 2004, the Nine Network broadcast an episode of The Footy Show live from the oval, including several pre-recorded segments featuring Mollymook Beach and the Surf Lifesaving Club.

His parents followed shortly after and his father opened a porterhouse on the corner of Twenty-Fourth Street and Ninth Avenue. Heavily influenced by a series of mystery crime novellas, William and the Outlaws become convinced that a local resident has murdered his neighbor, Old Scraggy, as a prelude to theft and buried him by the rose bush in his front garden. William impersonates the "deceased" Old Scraggy in an effort to disturb the murderer to the point where he confesses his crimes as in the "Myst'ry of the One Eyed-Man". The Outlaws break into Old Scraggy's house but are discovered by the returning occupant who has in fact only been away on holiday and are locked in an upstairs room. Such is the exaggeration of Old Scraggy's description of the burglars and would be assailants, that the local policeman is only amused to discover 4 local "nippers" who might have been involved in acts of trespass on a local farmers land.

"Bartleby the Scrivener" explores the theme of isolation in American life and the workplace through actual physical and mental loneliness. Although all of the characters at the office are related by being co-workers, Bartleby is the only one whose name is known to us and seems serious, as the rest of characters have odd nicknames, such as "Nippers" or "Turkey", this excludes him from being normal in the workplace. Bartleby's former job was at the "Dead Letter Office" that received mail with nowhere to go, representing the isolation of communication that Bartleby had at both places of work, being that he was given a separate work area for himself at the lawyer's office. Bartleby never leaves the office, but repeats what he does all day long, copying, staring, and repeating his famous words of "I would prefer not to", leading readers to have another image of the repetition that leads to isolation on Wall Street and the American workplace.

There are one or two genuinely creepy moments that would leave your precious nippers sleeping with the lights on until they finish college.... For a young audience coming to horror for the first time, this isn’t a bad place to start, but for anyone with a real appreciation of the genre this might feel rather dull and unoriginal." In his review for The Verge, Noah Berlatsky stated "...Scary Stories is remarkably insightful and sober in its assessment of the way stories control people, rather than the other way around. Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was supposed to be the summer’s virtuoso meta-fiction, but its rewritten happy ending, musing on the impotence of writing, seems a lot less bleak than Scary Stories’ acknowledgment that some scripts will take you far away where you'll never be seen again.
