An example can be found in Chilean newspaper El Mercurio, CIA funded from 1970-1973. Semantic differential was used to identify the words that would most effectively engender a negative attitude towards the socialist Allende administration in the Chilean population.

He was typical of the generation of British leaders who matured in the 1830s and 1840s. He was concerned with threats to established political, social and religious values and elites; he emphasised the need for national leadership in response to radicalism, uncertainty and materialism. Disraeli was especially noted for his enthusiastic support for expanding and strengthening the British Empire, in contrast to Gladstone's negative attitude toward imperialism. Gladstone denounced Disraeli's policies of territorial aggrandisement, military pomp and imperial symbolism (such as making the Queen Empress of India), saying it did not fit a modern commercial and Christian nation.

Yet he exhibits an unpretentious street wisdom that Fehler in his conceit and scorn for Whitey misses entirely. Linguistic insecurity can be heightened in speech communities in which multiple dialects exist beyond the standard language. Insecure speakers suffer from a negative attitude toward the speech of their dialect group and often feel pressured to mask their dialectal versatility since the norm of communication is to use the standard form. From 1945 to 1991 Matica was active in SR Croatia that was member of the Yugoslav Federation since the end of World War II. It was difficult for Matica to work due to the negative attitude of the central government in Belgrade to the institution with a national character because Yugoslavia was distinctly multi- ethnic state and it was considered that any over-emphasis of nationalism could undermine the [apparent] unity of the people of Yugoslavia. Matica's buildings were nationalized and also many other publishers appeared. But regardless these difficulties Matica continued to actively publishing various books, anthologies about Rijeka, Zadar and the Croatian National Revival, anthology of legal texts, philosophical texts, art monographs etc. In December 1954 Novi Sad Agreement was signed. Matica hrvatska and Matica srpska published an orthography manual in 1960.

The Affect Misattribution Procedure relies on participant ratings of neutral stimuli as an indirect measure of implicit attitudes rather than latency or accuracy measures. In the procedure, participants are first presented with a stimulus (usually an image or word), for either a brief visible period or subliminally, which is suspected to elicit a positive or negative attitude. Directly afterwards, participants are presented with a neutral stimulus (most often a Chinese pictograph) which they are asked to rate as either more or less, in this case visually, pleasing than an average stimulus. Linguistic insecurity may also be a characteristic of an entire speech community, especially in how it relates to other speech communities of the same language that employ a more standardized form.

Orozco's view point on the Mexican Revolution can be seen in his mural The Trench (1922-1924), Mexico that can be found at the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria. The dynamic lines and diluted color palette exemplify the dismal tone Orozco sets to exemplify his negative attitude towards the revolution. This kind of artwork sparked controversy and led to the defacing of this mural but was then later repainted in 1926.

Here Hannah Arendt regarded Moses Mendelssohn, because of his ideas concerning education (history as a teacher) and his negative attitude against Yiddish, as too naive and too idealistic; thus, in her view, Mendelssohn was not able to face the real social and historic problems among the inhabitants of the contemporary ghetto. In her criticism of Mendelssohn she tried to understand why the following generation of Maskilim were so convinced of the inferiority of Jewish tradition in comparison with the philosophy of enlightenment.

After noticing this, Mexican writer and philanthropist Elena Arizmendi, who attended the Congress as observer, announced the formation of a Spanish and Hispanic American Women League -or Women of the Race League- which started in 1923; in Guatemala, professor Górriz de Morales was the League delegate. As for the alleged translation errors, Kripal argued that he had corrected many of them in the second edition, acknowledged that others still needed to be corrected (such as those about the ages of some persons) and that he would "be happy to make any appropriate corrections in any future printings".

The Catholic Church has long had a troubled relationship with the Jewish faith, with Christians having a negative attitude towards Jews and being extremely opposed to them, so much so that it can be noted that there was an extreme "level of hostility against Jews inculcated by the Church", dating as far back as the sixteenth century, where “blood purity laws” prevented and limited people who had converted from Judaism from public office. Further examples of systemic racist behaviour can be noted throughout history, including racist rhetoric contained in Christian literature and the behaviour of certain notable Catholic figures towards the Jewish community. There are multiple examples of these incidents, ranging from the seventeenth century, where the Vatican employed an infamous 'Jewish convert' who spoke in opposition to baptising members of the Jewish community, and in the nineteenth century the forced resignation of an archbishop due to his Jewish ancestry. However, the Second World War was a pivotal moment for the Catholic Church and its perception of Judaism, with historical readings mostly centred on documenting the Church’s shortcomings in denouncing anti-Semitic behaviour during this period.

This led to the British policies known as the "Great Game" to stop Russian expansion in Central Asia.
