A folding music stand in its collapsed position, ready for transportation. Folding stands range from inexpensive, lightweight models made of metal, which are designed to hold a few pages of sheet music or a thin songbook, to stronger, more expensive heavy-duty models. Metal folding stands often have solid wire extensions or metal "arms" which can be folded out to support more than two pages of music or over-size sheets or pages. This is the kind most often used by music students in youth orchestras.

For his "many contributions to the art of the classic guitar" the New York Society of The Classic Guitar presented Valdés-Blain with a Fellowship. Rolando was also an inventor who developed several innovations for the classical guitar. He held patents for a music stand and his Muffletone, a sound mute which allows for quiet practice in hotel rooms, for example. Articles have appeared "in recognition of distinguished musicianship and for many important contributions to the art of the guitar", stating that Valdés-Blain has left a rich legacy to the world of the classical guitar.

The Imogen Styles are an English electropop band consisting of Christopher Dresden Styles and Syma. The band cite Pet Shop Boys, The Human League, Soft Cell and Black Box Recorder as musical influences. The band was formed in 2005, when Christopher Dresden Styles was offered the chance to play a gig at an unsigned band night at Retro Bar in Manchester on Monday 11 July. At the time, The Imogen Styles consisted solely of Christopher as frontman, along with a music stand, which was used to display the title of the song he was singing at the time.

Reaching a weekly viewership of 55,000 people each week, the show was reviewed in The Ages Green Guide by Jim Schembri on 22 December 1994 as "Sometimes funnier than Letterman". Under Melbourne Tonight was hosted by Stephen Hall and Vin "Rastas" Hedger and featured regular segments with 3RRR's Tony Biggs, Merrick and Rosso's Merrick Watts and Tim Ross, Corinne Grant, Peter Helliar and many more. The show included segments ranging from live music, stand up comedy, movie reviews, music reviews, video game reviews, sports, news, current affairs, science and sketches.

Consequently, he is best known for his sculptural furniture and furnishings. Esherick was recognized in his lifetime by his peers as the “dean of American craftsmen” for his leadership in developing non-traditional designs, and encouraging and inspiring artists/craftspeople by example. Esherick’s influence continues to be seen in the work of current artisans, particularly in the Studio Craft Movement.

Many sopranos made since the 1990s feature detachable necks and will include one straight and one downward-curved neck. A fully straight soprano must be held upward and outward while playing, which allows it to project well and can allow for a more energetic appearance in performance. A curved neck allows the instrument to be held somewhat downward and still maintain a proper mouthpiece angle, which makes for easier use of a music stand and can reduce fatigue in the right arm for some players. Some also believe that a curved neck gives the soprano a warmer, less nasal tone, although this is the subject of debate among players.

The primary duties of the conductor are to interpret the score in a way which reflects the specific indications in that score, set the tempo, ensure correct entries by ensemble members, and "shape" the phrasing where appropriate. Conductors communicate with their musicians primarily through hand gestures, usually with the aid of a baton, and may use other gestures or signals such as eye contact. A conductor usually supplements their direction with verbal instructions to their musicians in rehearsal. They are sexless and possess cherub faces, which contrast with the realistic depictions of the other full-sized non-divine females in the work; Eve in the same register and Lysbette Borluut in the outer panels. By tradition, only open lei are given to a pregnant or nursing woman. If due to allergies or other reasons a person cannot wear a lei which has just been given (for instance a musician who would tangle the lei in his or her guitar strap), the lei is displayed in a place of honor, such as the musician's music stand or microphone stand. The Royal Conservatoire has a range of facilities, including several performance spaces: the Ledger Room, Stevenson Hall, the Chandler Studio Theatre, the New Athenaeum Theatre, and the Alexander Gibson Opera Studio (built in 1998, the first purpose built opera school in Britain). Jacob "Jake" Puckerman (Jacob Artist) is a new McKinley High student who first appears in the fourth- season premiere, "The New Rachel". He is a younger half-brother of Puck, whom he has never met. He auditions for New Directions, but when he is stopped midway through his song, Jake is infuriated and deliberately knocks over a music stand. He is not admitted to the glee club, but when director Will Schuester discovers that Jake is related to Puck, he personally invites Jake to join New Directions, telling Jake that he is talented, and he thinks joining will help him as it did Puck, but Jake declines.

Such tables were often quite high – until the late 18th century people usually played standing up. Eventually, harpsichords came to be built with just a single case, though an intermediate stage also existed: the false inner–outer, which for purely aesthetic reasons was built to look as if the outer case contained an inner one, in the old style. Beebe described what he saw as he descended in the bathysphere through a direct telephone line to the ship above him. Detailed notes were taken by Gloria Hollister, a member of the research team. When Beebe exited the bathysphere, he immediately worked with Bostelmann as she put his descriptions to paper using watercolor, gouache and pencil. She did don a 16-pound copper helmet with an air hose attached to the ship above, sat on a chair on the ocean floor (20–35 feet down) with her canvas attached to an iron music stand weighted with lead and her brushes tied to the stand as she painted with oil the fish she saw around her.

Rock in Guánica which indicates where Major General Nelson A. Miles and his men landed Guánica is a modern town that maintains roots and connections to a traditional past. Known as el pueblo de la amistad ('the town of friendship'), it is also occasionally referred to as el pueblo de las doce calles ('the town of the twelve streets'). The central part of town consists of five streets running north–south crossing seven other streets that run east–west, resulting in a compact grid of 24 square blocks, one of which is the town plaza. Facing the plaza is the Catholic Church, city hall, a school, and many shops; the plaza itself contains greenery, walks, and a music stand.

Amateur orchestras and some youth orchestras may ask members to bring folding stands to rehearsals, and sometimes also to performances, as this saves the ensemble the cost of buying or renting, and transporting one or more racks of non- folding stands. Lightweight stands are not designed to support heavy books of music such as full-size fake books; while the fake book may stay open on the stand, the music stand may fall over. Folding stands consist of a rack for the music and a telescoping cylindrical column for supporting the rack, with screws or other fastening devices to secure the extended columns at the desired height. According to Gijs Gorb in Mickey's Movies: The Theatrical Films of Mickey Mouse, "Unfortunately, at this stage, the animators still had problems with Mickey's eyes: in one close-up in particular they are placed awkwardly in his face. In a few other scenes, Mickey still is very bland. His best moments are when he's confronted by a pig repeatedly playing a wrong note on the trumpet and when he gets dragged around by a cow's tail." It has been noted that this cartoon is an early example of the cinematic cliche of a conductor tapping his baton on the music stand to indicate to the orchestra that the song is about to begin, an action which never happens in actual concert performing.

In the post-World War I years, Lowell was largely forgotten, but the women's movement in the 1970s and women's studies brought her back to light. According to Heywood Broun, however, Lowell personally argued against feminism. Additional sources of interest in Lowell today come from the anti-war sentiment of the oft-taught poem "Patterns"; her personification of inanimate objects, as in "The Green Bowl", and "The Red Lacquer Music Stand"; and her lesbian themes, including the love poems addressed to Ada Dwyer Russell in "Two Speak Together" and her poem "The Sisters", which addresses her female poetic predecessors. Lowell's correspondence with her friend Florence Ayscough, a writer and translator of Chinese literature, was compiled and published by Ayscough's husband Professor Harley Farnsworth MacNair in 1945.

Treverva Male Voice Choir The choir itself was originally 24 members strong, mostly Treverva men at that time, and is still very active today. Edgar Kessell was the first conductor of the choir, from 1936 until his retirement from ill health in 1979. In 1976, a Westward TV documentary was made entitled Places Where They Sing, which featured members of the choir talking about their love of singing under a general narration by Edgar Kessell. The baton used by Edgar S. Kessell MBE and a conductor's music stand presented to the choir by the Holman Climax Choir, together with a considerable collection of much of the choir's early music, chapel Bibles & hymn books, the communion rail & pulpit front are all at the Cornish Heritage Collection at Poldark Mine museum in Wendron.

The original body of the church was built during the Aragonese rule in Sicily, very probably between 1332 and 1379, although it would in all likelihood date back to 1032. This church has gone through various enlargements, readaptations and changes during the centuries, particularly in the 16th and 17th. The square bell tower, located on the right side of the entrance, was realised at the beginning of the 15th century and was accessible from the church. Beginning from the 16th century they started a second elevation and later on they built a music stand which was leaning on an arch stretching from the bell tower as far as the new protruding chapel, in this way the decorations above the door and the circular window were cut and a sort of colonnade in front of the church was created.

Standing before the subject to be painted, Uglow registered measurements by means of a metal instrument of his own design (derived from a modified music stand); with one eye closed and with the arm of the instrument against his cheek, keeping the calibrations at a constant distance from the eye, the artist could take the measure of an object or interval to compare against other objects or intervals he saw before him. Such empirical measurements enable an artist to paint what the eye sees without the use of conventional perspective. The surfaces of Uglow's paintings carry many small horizontal and vertical markings, where he recorded these coordinates so that they could be verified against reality. Colour was fundamental to his understanding, and painters such as Matisse and the Venetians influenced him all his artistic life along with many others, although perhaps Cézanne, Morandi, Poussin and Ingres were closest to his heart.

The Call Building dominated the City's skyline and became the most recognizable San Francisco landmark, with many calling it "the most beautiful building in the world", and was featured in many postcards of the day. The building interior burned in the fire following the April 18, 1906 earthquake, but the steel structure survived intact. At the time of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, James was included in the "Committee of Fifty" that was called into existence by Mayor Eugene Schmitz to manage the crisis during the disaster, and was actively involved in the city's post-earthquake restoration. The Reids designed many buildings during San Francisco's "City Beautiful" period, including the Fairmont Hotel (1906), the Geneva Car Barn Office Building (1899), the First Congregational Church (1914), the 3rd generation Cliff House (1909), the Hale Brothers Department Store (1912), and the Music Stand in Golden Gate Park, and also a number of theaters including the Coliseum (1918), the Alexandria (1923), the Metropolitan (1924) and the Balboa (1926).

The music eventually reaches the end of the recapitulation in a passage that sounds very much as if it were the end of the symphony but suddenly breaks off in a dominant cadence. What follows is a long coda-like section, in essence a second slow movement, which is highly unusual in Classical symphonies and was probably quite surprising to the Prince. (It is in this section of the last movement where the musicians stop playing, snuff out their candles, and leave in turn.). This is written in time, modulates from A major to F major (pivoting between the two with C minor/major), and includes a bit of stage business that may not be obvious to a listener hearing a recorded performance: several of the musicians are given little solos to play, after which they snuff out the candle on their music stand and take their leave; other musicians leave without solos.

Pitchfork's Marc Hogan viewed Words and Music as "Saint Etienne's best LP since 1994 masterpiece Tiger Bay", commenting that "[p]art of what's appealing about Words and Music is the way it maintains a contemporary Top 40 sheen without lowering itself to pandering". Ian Wade, writing for BBC Music, called the album "[w]onderful stuff" and described it as "a fantastic and warm collection of jubilant happy/sad pop moments, delivering all that Saint Etienne are known for".

Mark Deming of AllMusic, praised the album, saying that "With It's Alive, they went out in style -- it's not only the best Ramones live album, it's one of the best and most effective live albums in the rock canon, and every bit as essential as Ramones, Leave Home, or Rocket to Russia." Paul Rigby of Record Collector, said that "With their high-tempo content, manic-speed live performances, basic image and a sense of family (everyone had the Ramone surname), they let the music stand for itself."When we say that this high energy, one-hour blitz squeezes in three albums’ worth of material, you get an idea how high-octane they really were." Conductor's score and batons on a lit, extra-large conductor's music stand Women conductors were almost unheard of in the ranks of leading orchestral conductors through most of the 19th and 20th centuries, but today, artists like ,David Mutch: "The gathering critical judgement of Hortense von Gelmini, Germany's only woman conductor, is that she has not only the talent but the education, energy, and persistance to make her mark in this difficult and competitive profession" – 1976 in: The Christian Science Monitor Marin Alsop and Simone Young are to be seen conducting leading orchestras. Alsop was appointed music director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in 2007 – the first woman ever appointed to head a major US orchestra – and also of the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo in 2012, and Alsop was the first woman to conduct on the last night of The Proms. Young scored similar firsts when she became head of the Hamburg State Opera and Philharmoniker Hamburg in 2005; she is also the first woman conductor to record the Ring Cycle of Richard Wagner. The Guardian called conducting "one of the last glass ceilings in the music industry".
