Fox made one of the first planing machines, reportedly in 1814 but the priority between Fox, Matthew Murray of Leeds and Richard Roberts of Manchester has not yet been established due to the secrecy of the makers. Fox's business at Derby was carried on by his sons and was active into the final third of the 19th century, but the later history is not known. Fox machine tools were illustrated in contemporary literature and some survive as museum pieces in Birmingham and in Norway.

It had been built in 1912 (the design was by the famous architect Aleshin) in a quiet corner of Poltava at 11, Spasskaya street. In a year and a half, the museum became an art department of the present Local History Museum. From 1934, after liquidation of the museum had been proposed, it was relocated in the building of the Local History Museum, where it occupied nine rooms on the ground floor. On March 7, 1939, the Ukrainian Council of People’s Commissars decreed its independent status as a regional art museum. Shortly before the war, the collection numbered about 30,000 museum pieces.

Bishop & Sons' Depositories Limited, more commonly known as Bishop's Move, was founded by J.J. Bishop in 1854 as a general cartage and removals business in Pimlico, London, and has grown into an international removals, storage, and shipping company. Horses were used to transport the company's wagons up until the 1930s, when motor vehicles were introduced to the fleet. During both World Wars, Bishop's Move provided vital removal services for government departments, as well as the relocation of precious museum pieces. The name Bishop's Move was officially registered on 10 November 1955 and the company has been trading as this ever since.

Although the old dock is now virtually inactive of shipping, the bridge is covered by an act of parliament requiring it to be lifted upon certain requests. Requests were made in the 1990s to allow the historical Ross Tiger and Lincoln Castle vessels to enter the old dock and be permanently berthed to serve as museum pieces and restaurants respectively. The bridge is still occasionally lifted for testing purposes, most recently being done so in May 2016. In 2017, after weeks of repair work, engineers were not able to carry out a test lift of the bridge.

These modified vehicles were used in part of the U.S. Army's Soviet opposition forces (OPFOR) by providing realistic ground training to U.S. military units about Soviet combat doctrine in a desert environment. The typology of twelve photographs of freezers, -86 Degree Freezer (12 Areas of Concern and Crisis), portrays the isolated subjects of critical scientific research in human health. The titles of the photographs, referencing specific case studies such as Bipolar Disorder, Alzheimer's, Breast Cancer, and HIV, contrast with the mundane visual nature of the subject matter: seemingly ordinary containers covered in frost stored in freezers. These photographs were used to create her first public art piece at Comme des Garçons in Kyoto, Japan. Art & Science: Investigating Matter was followed by a series of projects creating parallels between cultural and subjective frameworks of research and the humanities: Museum Pieces (1999), Cross Sections (2001), and Trilogy: Reflections on Frankenstein, the Arctic Circle, and the History of Science (2003).

He returned to Canada in 1967 and has been a resident of Toronto since 1969. In that year he joined Rob McConnell's BOSS BRASS as a percussionist, switching to bass in 1971 and later to piano (1987–1993).
