The society runs citizen science projects with the University of Gloucestershire. Since 2012 it has been collecting records of flying ants as part of the Flying Ant Survey with Adam Hart. Jake Adam York (August 10, 1972December 16, 2012) was an American poet. He published three books of poetry before his death: Murder Ballads, which won the 2005 Elixir Prize in Poetry; A Murmuration of Starlings, which won the 2008 Colorado Book Award in Poetry; and Persons Unknown, an editor's selection in the Crab Orchard Series in Poetry. A fourth book, Abide, was released posthumously, in 2014. That same year he was also named a posthumous recipient of the Witter Bynner Fellowship by the U.S. Poet Laureate.

In 1990, Ray founded Daemon Records, which has signed Magnapop, Ellen James Society, New Mongrels, Kristen Hall, Rose Polenzani, Girlyman, Athens Boys Choir, and James Hall among others. Ray has put out six solo albums, entitled Stag, Prom, Live from Knoxville, Didn't It Feel Kinder, Amy Ray: Live MVP, Lung of Love Goodnight Tender and "Holler" through Daemon. She has toured with both The Butchies and her band The Volunteers. Saliers also released a solo album, Murmuration Nation, in 2017, and was a founding co- owner of Watershed Restaurant in Decatur, Georgia.

Producer Ross Tones (aka Throwing Snow) and vocalist Hannah Cartwright (aka Augustus Ghost) first met and started collaborating in 2008, having a shared interest in British folklore and experimental electronic music. The first Snow Ghosts record, the Lost at Sea EP, was released through Black Acre Records in 2011. Following this initial release, Tones and Cartwright spent the next two years compiling their debut album, A Small Murmuration, which was released on London nightclub Fabric's record label Houndstooth in 2013. In 2014, Tones and Cartwright joined forces with multi-instrumentalist Oliver Knowles, and Snow Ghosts became a trio.

A flock of auklets exhibit swarm behaviour Swarm behaviour, or swarming, is a collective behaviour exhibited by entities, particularly animals, of similar size which aggregate together, perhaps milling about the same spot or perhaps moving en masse or migrating in some direction. It is a highly interdisciplinary topic. As a term, swarming is applied particularly to insects, but can also be applied to any other entity or animal that exhibits swarm behaviour. The term flocking or murmuration can refer specifically to swarm behaviour in birds, herding to refer to swarm behaviour in tetrapods, and shoaling or schooling to refer to swarm behaviour in fish.

Produced by Nathan Scherrer, it was filmed by Dave Meyers, who had previously directed Clarkson's previous music video for "Breakaway" (2004). The video presents Clarkson and her background vocalists performing the track in various settings, including a whitened Southern cornfield and a mountaintop luxury abode. Featuring special visual effects made by Timber VFX, its scenes depict Clarkson at different themes of how love can come across — from explosive and defiant, to bold, sexy & sassy. Some of those setups involve a rotating body with the faces of Clarkson and her backup singers, another shows her singing in an exploding room, and ends with her singing in a field as a flock of yellow birds form a "murmuration" around her.

Hessay boasts an abundance of wildlife, Notable bird species include Barn Owls, Tawny Owls, Little Owls, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Skylarks, Green Plover (Lapwing), Oyster Catchers, Jays, Rooks, Magpies, Carrion Crow. From the population of small mammals which includes Field, Wood and Harvest Mice, Voles and Shrews, supports the upper end of the food chain of Merlins, Kestrels, Red Kites, Buzzards, Hobby, Sparrow Hawks, Goshawks, a Peregrine falcon has even been seen to take prey from the surrounding farmland. There is a small but increasing murmuration of Starlings which are believed to roost at the west end of Hessay Industrial Estate. Curlew Field Farm takes its name from the Curlews which nest in the Vicinity.

When a student is unable to pay for a school meal, he or she might be given an alternative meal (like half a cheese sandwich), some are turned away, other have their food taken away and dumped. The "shaming" extends to practices such as "hand stamping" – whereas a student's hand is stamped with the word "money" – or other forms of debt collection activities against the students and families. The campaign led to the expansion of free school meals to 62,000 additional low-income students in Minnesota and led to the first statewide ban on all shaming practices by schools. From 2016 to 2017, Samuel served as the Director of the Civic Engagement Program for Murmuration – a 16-school pilot program in Los Angeles County designed to increase voter engagement and parent leadership by combining community organizing, voting data, and civic tech.

The program resulted in a voting bloc of over 6,000 voters across partnering schools, registered over 2,000 new voters within the 16 school communities, and boosted voter turnout among pilot schools to consistently outpace the state, county, city and district turnout over 5 consecutive elections. In his role with Murmuration Samuel also organized one of the largest parent-led public actions in May 2017 to protect immigrant families with 300 parent leaders, California Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León, Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Los Angeles Police Department. Chu is a frequent speaker and presenter at conferences, programs, and other training institutes, including #RealCollege, Planned Parenthood's Power of Pink, Advancing Justice Conference, the American Muslim Civic Leadership Institute, and the United States Student Association. Chu also is managing director of the Hong Kong Democracy Council.
