Digras (Hindi दिग्रस) is a town and a municipal council in Yavatmal district in the state of Maharashtra, India.

Abelin moved to Châtellerault, where he was elected to the municipal council. He later became the mayor of Châtellerault.

Although the exact date of Gadhinglaj's founding is not known, old texts date it back to at least 1500 AD. Gadhinglaj was a small village near the banks of the Hiranyakeshi River. Frogn Municipal Council attempted to veto the development in November 1995, by demanding that either two or no tubes be built. The ministry stated that they would if necessary pass state zoning laws to avoid such disruptions. The municipal opposition rested in part on opposition to building a new road through a recreational forest area and the auxiliary road would come too close to the settlements at Heer. After the municipal council voted against rezoning, a new zoning plan was thus legislated by the ministry and Frogn Municipal Council lost further ability to participate in the planning.

In case of dissolution of a Municipal Council, the resignation of all its members in office, the final cancellation of the election of its members, or if the Municipal Council can not be constituted, a special delegation, appointed by the prefecture within eight days, performs the functions of the municipal council.Articles L2121-35 and L2121-36 of General Code for Local Governments This special delegation elects its president and, if applicable, its vice- president. The President or, failing that, the vice president acts in the office of mayor. Its powers cease upon installation of the new municipal council.

As part of the municipality reform process instigated by Minister of Local Government Jan Tore Sanner the municipalities of Asker, Hurum and Røyken evaluated if they should merge into a new common municipality during the first half of 2016. A tentative agreement was reached and on 16 June 2016 the Municipal Council of Røyken approved the merger with Asker and Hurum with 24 votes for and 3 against. On 14 June 2016 the Municipal Council of Asker also approved the merger with 42 votes for and 5 against. A few days later the Municipal Council of Hurum followed suit and approved the merger.

At a second regional plenary, regional delegates prioritize the district's demands and elect 42 councillors representing all districts and thematic areas to serve on the Municipal Council of the Budget. The main function of the Municipal Council of the Budget is to reconcile the demands of each district with available resources, and to propose and approve an overall municipal budget. The resulting budget is binding, though the city council can suggest, but not require changes. Only the Mayor may veto the budget, or remand it back to the Municipal Council of the Budget (this has never happened).

Each commune has a municipal council (conseil municipal) compound of three members elected by the inhabitants of the commune for a 4-year term. The municipal council is led by a president often called mayor. Each commune has a municipal assembly (assemblée municipale) who assists the council in its work. The members of the assembly are also elected for 4 years.

The first elections for the new municipality were held during the regular local elections of 14 October 2018, electing a municipal council for the legislative period of 2019–2024. The Kandy Municipal Council (Sinhala: මහනුවර මහ නගර සභා Mahanuwara Maha Nagara Sabha) is the local council for Kandy, the second largest city and hill capital of Sri Lanka. The council was formed under the Municipalities Ordinance of 1865 and first met in 1866. The municipal council is the second oldest and largest local government authority in Sri Lanka. It has 24 elected representatives.

Christoph Bernstiel was elected to the municipal council of Halle (Saale) in 2014. He was a member of the committee on planning affairs and the committee on human resources development until 2018. Knut Haug (born 31 March 1934) is a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. He was elected to Ål municipal council in 1971, and was re-elected on five successive occasions. During this period he was mayor for fourteen years. He was also a member of Buskerud county council for one term, and after a hiatus he returned to Ål municipal council in 2003.

Hamad Moh'd Al-Midlij (Arabic: حمد محمد المدلج, born 1984) is a politician, who is an elected member of the Municipal council in Kuwait. As the 2018 Kuwaiti Municipal Council election was his first stand for elections, he won the first chair in the fourth constituency with 4,108 out of 75,560 votes. Al- Midlij currently serves as the chair of Financial and Legal Committee of the council.

The Negombo Municipal Council is the local council for Negombo, the largest city in Gampaha district. The council was established under the Municipalities Ordinance of 1878 as a Local Board of Negombo and Gate Mudaliyar A. E. Rajapakse was the first Chairmen of the Urban District Council in 1922. In 1950 the council become Municipal Council and it held first meeting on 1 January 1950.

In 1980 this party merged into the Christian Democratic Appeal. In 1982 Ubels-Veen's membership of the municipal council ended. She left both the municipal council as well as the Christian Democratic Appeal due to its policy on nuclear weapons. In the 1982 general election she obtained a seat in the House of Representatives for the Evangelical People's Party, which had separated from the Christian Democratic Appeal.

STIP was founded in 1993 and is run exclusively by students. The members of STIP rotate their seats after one year in municipal council (instead of the regular term of four years) to combine their elected position with their studies. Nils Olav Totland (born 17 December 1935) is a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party. He was Minister of Administration from October 1993 to October 1996, in the third cabinet Brundtland. On the local level, he was a member of Skedsmo municipal council from 1967 to 1982 and Fet municipal council from 1999 to 2003. He chaired the local party chapter in Fet from 2001 to 2007.

Budhlada (Punjabi: ਬੁਢਲਾਡਾ) is a city and a municipal council in the Mansa district of the state of Punjab, India. It is located in the Cotton Belt of India and the largest industry in the area is agriculture, which provides the majority of employment in the region. Budhlada is divided into 19 wards for which elections are held every five years. It has been a Class II Municipal Council since the 1950s.

The parliament has 47 members and is called Grosser Gemeinderat. The last elections were held in 2009 with the next elections scheduled to be in 2013. Jean Duprat (12 November 1936, Lannemezan – 26 April 2018) was a French politician. He was a member of the Radical Party of the Left and began his political career as a member of the Tarbes municipal council serving from 1977 to 2001. Panvel (also known as Panwell by the British) is about 300 years old, developed around trade routes (both land and sea), during the Mughal rule and hence after by the Marathas, British and the Portuguese. Once upon a time Panvel was famous for its rice market. Panvel Municipal Council (PMC) was established in the year 1852, and is the oldest municipal council of Maharashtra. Panvel Municipal Council's elections started in the year 1910.

Wiesenburg Castle The mayor of Wiesenburg/Mark is Marco Beckendorf of the Left Party (Die Linke). He was elected by the municipal council in 2014. Law No 11 for 1963 followed. Hassan Sanniah Prakash (13 September 1951 – 27 November 2018) was an Indian politician and a four-term MLA in the state of Karnataka, representing the Hassan constituency. He was a member of Janata Dal (Secular). Prakash served as a member of Hassan city municipal council from 1983 to 1989, and was president of the municipal council from 1985 to 1987. He was elected for the fourth time as the member of legislative assembly in the 2013 Karnataka state assembly election.
