In week 4, Sanzenbacher had a break-out game with four receiving touchdowns against Eastern Michigan, tying the OSU record for most receiving touchdowns in a game. Sanzenbacher earned first-team All-Big Ten honors. At the team banquet, Sanzenbacher was voted as the team's most valuable player as well as the Bo Rein Award winner as the team's most inspirational player. Coach Jim Tressel revealed that, for the first time he could recall, one player won both of the team's top awards and won them by a landslide.

Blaine Taylor (born January 14, 1958) is an American college basketball coach and the former head coach of the Old Dominion Monarchs men's basketball team. Taylor played as a point guard for the University of Montana from 1979 to 1981. In 1981, he was recognized as the school's most outstanding male athlete and earned the Naseby Rhinehart Award as the Most Inspirational Player. Taylor later became an assistant coach at Montana while a graduate student from 1981 to 1984 and again became an assistant to Stew Morrill from 1986 to 1991.

Herzlich became an inspirational figure as he battled his way back, earning the Disney's Wide World of Sports Spirit Award, an award presented annually to college football's most inspirational player or team.
Loren James Toews (born November 3, 1951) is a retired NFL football player. Toews graduated from Del Mar High School in San Jose, California and later University of California, Berkeley where he received his degree in biological sciences. In 1972, Toews was named the "most inspirational player" on the team at Berkeley and given the Stub Allison Award, named after California football coach Leonard B. "Stub" Allison. That following year, in 1973 Toews was drafted in the eighth round by the Pittsburgh Steelers where he played as a linebacker for 11 seasons.
As a result of the growth and success achieved during 2006, YouTube launched its own awards promotion in March 2007 to recognize the best user-generated videos of the previous year. The launch of the YouTube Awards was formally announced via a press release on March 18.
