Prior to the building of the station, it was originally known as Tampines South. The name of Simei was changed from Tampines South in 1985, prior to the station's opening in 1989. The station was renamed to reflect the station's location as it was now situated within the estate now known as Simei. As with most above-ground stations built during the initial construction of the East West line, the station lacked platform screen doors.

The bark of A. parramattensis is thin and offers little protection from bushfire, with plants generally perishing from high intensity fires. Most above-ground growth is killed by fire, though plants with trunks thicker than diameter at breast height (dbh) may resprout from epicormic buds. Some plants can survive low intensity fires. Acacia parramattensis has a suckering habit, and can grow from basal shoots after fire, though regeneration is generally by seed after severe fires.

Eremophila pantonii is an erect shrub which grows to a height of with many branches beginning at ground level. Most above-ground parts of the plant, except for the petals are covered with yellowish to grey, circular scales. The branches are also covered with raised, warty lumps and are reddish-brown in colour. Its leaves are mostly arranged alternately along the branches and are linear in shape with a hooked tip, long and wide.

Federal Corners is a former hamlet located in the Town of Richfield, New York, about 1.5 miles southeast of the village of Richfield Springs, at the corner of Butternut Road and Cemetery Road. Federal Corners "lay near the intersection of an old route from the Mohawk Valley to Canadarago Lake and the Third Great Western Turnpike, opened in 1808". Most above-ground remains of the hamlet have disappeared, since "its economy failed by the early 1840s".

Most above ground structures associated with the mine are extant, many of them relatively intact and containing equipment. Structures include: surface crib room; fan house; winder and compressor house; transformer yard; block making plant; electrical and drill store; workshop; fuel, pipe and electrical detonator sheds; change- house; toilet block; explosives magazine; and detonator magazine. The head frame is extant, but partially collapsed. Also extant on the site are a range of artefacts associated with the mine consisting mainly of underground locomotives, coal skips and coal cars.

On October 3, 2018, Hershey Entertainment and Resorts revealed their "biggest announcement ever": a new section of the park named Chocolatetown, as well as a new entrance plaza, both of which would open in 2020. The anchor attractions were scheduled to include a roller coaster, as well as a new shopping area and a fountain, built at a cost of $150 million. The new coaster was planned to be a hypercoaster, over tall, which required approval from the Federal Aviation Administration. According to the filing with the FAA, the coaster was to be, at most, above ground level.

As built, many of the key rapid transit transfer stations were prepayment stations, in which free transfers could be made between surface streetcar lines and grade-separated subway or elevated lines. This was made possible by the operation of all services under one umbrella; some suburban services that operated over the same streetcar tracks used different areas outside fare control. Some of the streetcar levels in transfer stations were later converted for bus or trackless trolley operation; other such spaces have been closed. Some of the prepaid transfer areas still exist architecturally, and faregates enclose all subway stations (but not most above-ground Green Line stops).
