Carl William Hansen (11 October 1872 – 3 August 1936) was a Danish author, Luciferian, Wandering Bishop and Occultist. Hansen was born in Copenhagen and first initiated into Martinism in 1898 by Alphonse Wallen. Hansen published Den Ny Morgens Gry, Lucifer-Hiram, Verdensbygmesterens Genkomst (The Dawn of a New Morning, Lucifer-Hiram, The Return of the World's Master Builder), in 1906 under the pseudonym Ben Kadosh. Inspired by the French Gnostic movement, and such writers as Carl Kohl, his major interests seems to have been alchemy and astrology.

"Zur Alten Fuhrmannsschänke", Dehningshof 3.5 km southeast of Oldendorf lies Dehningshof farm. The name comes from Peter Heinrich Dehning (1781–1832), a carter (Fuhrmann) from Oldendorf, who had been looking for a place to set up a staging inn at this spot as early as 1804. After twice being rejected by the farmers from Oldendorf who had wood grazing rights there, he was granted a site, four morgens in area, on 11 May 1816, subject to various constraints. Dehning saw this place as suitable for a carter's tavern, because the Old Celle Military Road, from Hanover to Celle ran past here.

Claes Martenszen van Rosenvelt (c. 1626 – 1659), the immigrant ancestor of the Roosevelt family, arrived in New Amsterdam (present day New York City) some time between 1638 and 1649. About the year 1652, he bought a farm from Lambert van Valckenburgh comprising 24 morgens (that is, 20.44 ha or 50.51 acres) in what is now Midtown Manhattan, including the present site of the Empire State Building. The property included approximately what is now the area between Lexington Avenue and Fifth Avenue bounded by 29th St. and 35th St. Claes' son Nicholas was the first to use the spelling Roosevelt and the first to hold political office, as an alderman.

The Eleniak's parents owned only 3 morgens of land and decided to check the rumors and emigrate to Canada. The colony was founded by a group of Ukrainian settlers led by Iwan Pylypow in 1891 (although he himself did not settle permanently until the next year). Pylypow's first farm was near the present-day village of Star, Alberta, then called Edna, and the name Edna- Star was applied to the whole area retrospectively. Most of the first settlers were from Pylypow's home village of Nebyliv and the area was sometimes called the Nebyliv colony in their honour, although later settlers were from other areas of Austrian-controlled Ukraine, namely the provinces of Galicia and Bukovyna.

Tonteldoos is a village in Limpopo Province, South Africa, southeast of Roossenekal and 20 km northwest of Dullstroom, between the two mountains Steenkampsberg and Mapochsberg. It is part of the Mapoch (Southern Ndebele people) land seized by poor settlers in 1883 after the Mapoch War against King Nyabêla. Each veteran was granted 8 morgens of the land, the rest reserved for communal pasture. The surveyor who measured the land the following year was named G.R. von Wielligh, and he was said to have named the city after the tinderbox (called “tonteldoos” in Afrikaans) he lost there. However, Samuel Smit had already named his plot that in October 1883, more likely after the local weed Haplocarpa scaposa (one of several plants popularly known as “tontelbossie”). The velvety back leaf, easily flammable when dry, was used to make tinderboxes at the time, and several species’ leaves continue to be known as “tontel.” Flint could also be found in the area.

Anna von Szent-Ivanyi moved in 1824 to be near her relatives in Deidesheim, then as now regarded an exceptional location for winegrowing due to the favourable effect on the climate of shelter from nearby hills to the west and the moderating impact on temperature extremes from the River Rhine to the west. He (step half-) brother in law now bought for her twenty morgens of the town's best vineyards, which made her one of the most important wine producers in the district, and a wealthy member of the local business community. Her disposable wealth was significantly increased by a major auction she arranged which took place on 22 April 1858 of wine that had been produced, accumulated stored at her winery. On 17 March 1879 she created a large endowment in favour of the hospital-asylum ("Deidesheimer Spital") which was evolving and expanding to serve the community not simply as a basic hospital, but also as an asylum, a retirement home, overnight hostel and, in time of war, military hospital and convalescence institution.
