In 2011, a report by the Office of the Contractor-General alleged irregularities in the Government's award of millions of dollars of contracts to Strathairn Construction Company, a firm in which Warmington was allegedly a director and shareholder. Warmington responded angrily to the accusations, calling Contractor-General Greg Christie an "overzealous idiot" and a "mental case". After a protracted investigation, the Director of Public Prosecutions found that two other directors of SCCL had made misrepresentations about Warmington's financial interest in the company, and on that basis announced that no charges would be filed against Warmington. When the news went public, Warmington withdrew his earlier apology to Christie and repeated his description of Christie as a "mental case" for emphasis.

Blitzkrieg Bop were an English punk rock band formed in Teesside, England in February 1977. They were named after a song by the Ramones with the same name. They released three singles. These were "Let's Go"/ "Bugger Off" / "9 Till 5" (Mortonsound – June 1977); "Let's Go" (re-recorded) / "Life Is Just A So-So" / "Mental Case" (Lightning – December 1977); and "(You're Like A) UFO" / "Viva Bobby Joe" (Lightning – September 1978).

Skaters latest EP Rock and Roll Bye Bye was released on March 24, 2017 and features several songs that were produced and engineered by Albert Di Fiore, including the single, "Rock and Roll Bye Bye". Harry Steven Durbano (December 12, 1951 – November 10, 2002) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player noted for his villainous behaviour on the ice and his larger-than-life persona off it. Nicknamed the "Mental Case", he is the all-time leader in penalty minutes per game in the National Hockey League (NHL), with 1127 career PIMs over a mere 220 games played, for 5.12 PIMs per game.

However, their marriage was deeply troubled; Hubbard was responsible for a prolonged campaign of domestic violence against her and kidnapped both her and her infant daughter. Hubbard spread allegations that she was a Communist secret agent and repeatedly denounced her to the FBI. The FBI declined to take any action, characterizing Hubbard as a "mental case". The marriage ended in 1951 and prompted lurid headlines in the Los Angeles newspapers.

Beginning in 1987, it was set in North Africa during World War 2. The comic has been describes as a fantasy war comic that was set within the German regime. Pfirsch (peach) Rommel is a colonel in the German Afrika Korps in World War II. The rest of this unit of misfits includes a mute radio officer, a shell-shocked mental case with a pet landmine, a French-speaking black Moroccan, an American prisoner of war, and a Cossack mercenary.

He also noted that the episode was "heavy on terrifying elements, from the monster baby stalking the hotel to the concerted efforts to turn Lowe into a complete mental case, orchestrated by his wife Alex.

When the president ordered his arrest, Vargas flew to the Air base of Manta using one of the Air force aircraft; in Manta many of the officers and enlisted personnel took a stronger stand and voiced calls for a coup d'état that would put Vargas as a member of a triumvirate the calls were not headed and in hours of the evening president Febres Cordero went to the air bases in Guayaquil and Taura to call for the officers corps loyalty portraying General Vargas as a mental case. A video of the actions of the morning at Manta was shown to the officer corps in Taura that showed general Vargas in a state of inebriation and out of his normal self. In the morning of the following day general Vargas flew to the Air Base in Quito in an attempt to initiate a dialogue with officers of the Army and Navy. That night the army surrounded the air base and most of the air force troops walked out of the base abandoning Vargas, who was apprehended during the night in the attic of the PX building.
