The best of them distinguished laconic means of expression, depth and a special delicacy in the transfer of the character and spiritual world models, the desire to find and keep on canvas features of external appearance. After unification, Italian started to be taught at primary schools and its use by ordinary people increased considerably, along with mass literacy. The regional varieties of Italian, as a product of standard Italian mixing with the regional languages, were also born. With the practical significance of their story-singing gone, they turned to agriculture and labour to sustain themselves. According to Vajpeyi, Jangarh’s art arose from this creative background and created a new means of expression for members of his community.

Mompremier was born in 1952 in Gonaives, Haiti. In 1972, he moved to Port-au-Prince to work as a tailor; just one year later, he began apprenticing under Gerard Valcin, pursuing interests in drawing and painting he had had since a young age. Originally, Mompremier painted images of daily life in Haiti. However, in 1975, he found his own means of expression in representing the Vodou lwa.. In 1978, Mompremier met his wife, Erzulie, who began painting under his direction; she passed in the earthquake of 2010.
Many large publications define a house style to be used throughout the publication, a practice almost universal among newspapers and well-known magazines. The culture of the United States of America, especially, began informing an American vernacular style of classical music, notably in the works of Charles Ives, John Alden Carpenter, and (later) George Gershwin. Folk music (Vaughan Williams' Five Variants of Dives and Lazarus, Gustav Holst's A Somerset Rhapsody) and Jazz (Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, Darius Milhaud's La création du monde) were also influential. In the latter quarter of the century, eclecticism and polystylism became important.
Pärt composed the work a year after he left Estonia for first Vienna and then Berlin. He set Psalm 130 in Latin, a text speaking of profound distress which has inspired composers through the centuries, from polyphonic settings by Josquin des Prez to use in an opera of the 21st century by Lera Auerbach. Pärt composed the work in his personal tintinnabuli style, using simple means of expression. He scored it for a four-part men's choir (), percussion (ad lib.) and organ, and dedicated it to the Austrian composer Gottfried von Einem.
Nesch found a suitable medium in metal pressure technology. Apart from drawing, which was his natural tool and means of expression throughout, it was printmaking he devoted himself to most continuously and over the greatest number of years. And it is as printmaker that Rolf Nesch made his most significant contribution, not merely as a technical innovator who discovered the potential in new materials and methods, but also from the artistic point of view. He was appointed a Knight of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav (1967) and Commander (1973).

Myriam Mihindou grew up in Gabon with a French mother and a Gabonese father, before going into exile in France in the late 1980s. After a degree in architecture, she joined the school of fine arts in Bordeaux. Suffering from aphasia, a disorder of spoken and written language, she was at the time looking for a means of expression. Working initially on sculpture and forging, Joseph Beuys and Ana Mendieta encouraged her to direct her plastic exploration in nature through ritualized actions with organic materials (earth, water, sun, paraffin, kaolin and tea).
The 2013 production of Oedipus, a version adapted by Olivier Kemeid, includes speech, music, video and choreographed movement. He uses multimedia in his production to create a concept called “total spectacle,” stating that he has become bored with only one means of expression, and has an interest in exploring how the various arts can work together. However, he states that this is not easy in Europe where the arts are strongly separated. Besprosvany's work shows an interest in updated version of classical texts, stating that their themes remain relevant today.
The study and practice of communication focuses on the ways and means of expression of a political nature. Robert E. Denton and Gary C. Woodward, two important contributors to the field, in Political Communication in America characterize it as the ways and intentions of message senders to influence the political environment. This includes public discussion (e.g. political speeches, news media coverage, and ordinary citizens' talk) that considers who has authority to sanction, the allocation of public resources, who has authority to make decision, as well as social meaning like what makes someone American.
Knowing his weaknesses, he concentrated drawing and composition. However, he soon left this workshop and, attracted by the artistic concepts of the Barbizon school, he left Paris for that village, where he became the associate of artists such as Jean-François Millet, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Gustave Courbet and Théodore Rousseau. Under the influence of the movement, Grigorescu looked for new means of expression and followed the trend of en plein air painting, which was also important in Impressionism. As part of the Universal Exposition of Paris (1867), he contributed seven works.
Shintaido (新体道, a Japanese word translated as ‘New Body Way’) is a system of movement which aims to use the body as a means of expression and communication. Incorporating both physical and artistic elements, it was created in Japan in the 1960s. Its roots lay in the traditional Japanese martial arts, Chinese medicine and Buddhist meditation techniques, while its creator Hiroyuki Aoki was also influenced by modern Western art and Christianity. As well as being a practical martial art Shintaido aims to be a form of artistic expression, a healthy exercise, and a path of self-discovery and transformation.
Vladimír Hirsch (born July 3, 1954, Benešov, Czech Republic) is a Czech composer and instrumentalist (keyboard instruments). The author of the concept of the so-called "integrated" musical form – combining contemporary classical music with dark-ambient and industrial music, his compositional style is characterized by polymodal architecture and alchemical work with sound, using mainly digital techniques to expand the action potential of the means of expression. Vladimír Hirsch is or was the leader of the avant-garde projects Aghiatrias, Skrol, Zygote, Subpop Squeeze, and more. From 1986 to 1996, he was a member of the experimental post-punk band Der Marabu.
Religion may have been particularly important as a means of expression for women and from the seventeenth century women may have had greater opportunities for religious participation in movements outside of the established kirk. Women had very little legal status at the beginning of the period, unable to act as witnesses or legally responsible for their own actions. From the mid-sixteenth century they were increasingly criminalised, with statutes allowing them to be prosecuted for infanticide and as witches. Seventy-five per cent of an estimated 6,000 individuals prosecuted for witchcraft between 1563 and 1736 were women and perhaps 1,500 were executed.
A talented exponent of the Armenian contemporary composition school, Hrachya Melikyan with his new artistic vision and distinctive musical style belongs to the generation of 1960-70s. Melikyan's artistic vision was formed during the complex interactive processes of Armenian and international musical practices, as he synthesized world music developments and national music particularities, forging his own distinctive musical style. Ghazaros (Lazar) Saryan in his reference letter, dated July 1, 1972, for Melikyan to be accepted as a member of the Union of Composers, wrote “His style is interesting and distinctive/original. He principally avoids accepted means of expression.
In his quest for new means of expression and new constructions he has achieved considerable success.” In 1972, the young composer was accepted to the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Armenia. In 1991, Melikyan became the Responsible Secretary of the Union and served in that position until his untimely death in March 2006. In 1995 he established “Archesh” publishing house at the Union of Composers. From the time he took up an administrative position in the Union until his last days he played a significant role in promoting his fellow composers’ compositions through organizing concerts and publishing their works.
In contrast to Stein's formally challenging later works, the narrative style of Three Lives is relatively straightforward. Stein wrote in The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas of an envoy from the book's publisher who was surprised on visiting her to discover she was American, and that she assured him the foreign-seeming syntax was deliberate. Stein admired in Flaubert and painter Cézanne their focus on working-class subjects, and their greater devotion to their means of expression over a strict representation of their subjects. Stein wished to break from the strict naturalism then in vogue in American letters.
Disciple of film by Eisenstein, Vertov and Pudovkin, Romm, in this film masterfully uses the means of expression editing, musical design, and journalistic language to describe the Nazi regime. It is through the counterpoint archival footage, voiceover and film music has such a strong emotional impact on the viewer. A curiosity of the film is the fact that the narration was made by Romm himself. Initially, the filmmaker had sought a speaker for this job, but when his comrades heard working versions of the comments written by himself, he was advised to record his own voice-over.
The expressiveness of the work appears to be unusual for Ogata, with the main means of expression being the use of lines created by ink. The screen on which Rough Waves was painted bears the seal “Dōsū”, a pseudonym that Ogata used from 1704. Recent studies show that Ogata created the painting between 1704 and 1709, during the transitional period in his career when he lived in the city of Edo (now Tokyo). The works of the artist during this period are characterized by a strong influence of the creativity of representatives of the Kanō school.
Around 1906 Manzana started to search for other means of expression via the design of decorative objects and furniture. The influence of Gauguin’s exotic native scenes from Tahiti and Martinique contributed to the development of his Orientalism, which at that time began to manifest itself in some of his works by his experimenting with gold, silver and copper paint. The edifying examples begin with the self-portraits, which must be approached starting with the first ones he made, or with the means of expression used, starting from romanticism, passing through impressionism. In order to reach a state of grace of maturity, Petrașcu went through a difficult and slow evolution that required his tenacity and patience.
Given Pawlikowska's creativity may be defined by her highly traditional and conservative background, undoubtedly influenced by her husband's, patriotic and nationalistic views, as the main champion of her work, at a time of deep crisis for the nation coupled with exile in the Free World, she did not seek to join the Avant-garde but sought instead in her own words, to "make links between the basic elements of art and means of expression with her Polishness". Her inspiration coupled with the mature style of her creativity, enable her work to be characterised as art déco style.
The direct inspiration, however, came from the Misty Poets group of the late 1970s and early 1980s (gungga was a direct translation of menglong, "obscure", "misty", or "hazy" in Mandarin.) The movement absorbed "the vision and the aesthetic principles of that groundbreaking movement through the literary manifestations were necessarily different." The gungga movement's works were in free verse, not the Aruz or syllabic metrical forms then dominant in Uyghur poetry. They relied on metaphor, contrast, images and symbols, instead of more direct means of expression. Their titles didn't directly relate to the bodies of the poems.
Echoplex EP-2 Before the invention of audio delay technology, music employing a delayed echo had to be recorded in a naturally reverberant space, often an inconvenience for musicians and engineers. The popularity of an easy-to-implement real-time echo effect led to the production of systems offering an all-in-one effects unit that could be adjusted to produce echoes of any interval or amplitude. The presence of multiple taps (playback heads) made it possible to have delays at varying rhythmic intervals; this allowed musicians an additional means of expression over natural periodic echoes.
The aim of Krytyka Polityczna is to revive the tradition of engaged Polish intelligentsia. From the outset the activities of “Krytyka Polityczna” have focused on three main fields: social science, culture and politics to show that the social sciences, the arts and politics differ only in their means of expression, whereas what they have in common is the impact they have on social reality. The fundamental aim of “Krytyka Polityczna” is to prepare and introduce into the public sphere a project of struggle against economic and social exclusion. Although the current and original versions of Crack is Wack differ, they both express Haring's unique cartoonist style and the same anti-crack message. Upon a vibrant orange background, the mural includes a conglomeration of human and monster-like figures outlined by thick black lines that surround the phrase 'crack is wack' in bold letters. Art history professor Natalie E. Phillips argues that Haring achieves a direct and straightforward means of expression by utilizing this simple imagery and basic forms in Crack is Wack and his other artwork. She further suggests that the mural's location along a busy, public parkway engages a variety of passersby with diverse backgrounds.
Seriefrämjandet (literally the promotion of comics, but internationally, the name The Swedish Comics Association is generally used) is a Swedish association for everybody with an interest in comics, founded in 1968 by Henri Holmgren, Janne Lundström and Sture Hegerfors. The association acts to promote the status of the medium as a means of expression, and to increase the knowledge of the characteristics of the medium. With government funding, Seriefrämjandet has started Svenskt Seriearkiv, an archive devoted to preservering and documenting the history of the Swedish comics business. In 2005, Seriefrämjandet opened Seriecenter (literally Comics Centre) in Malmö, with offices, exhibition space and small studio for creators.

He started in 1980 participating in various radio show (in particular Italian channels ‘’Rai 2’’ and ‘’Rai 3’’), but his main passion was the music, which he regards as the main means of expression. He found inspiration in artists like Alice Cooper, David Bowie and Black Sabbath. In 1980 he released his first self-produced album, called Perseo Miranda and His Theatre, and the following year the CD single "I sayd I look away". Then Miranda devoted himself to teaching guitar in various schools, recording some vocals in many pop rock albums and playing in many different bands (from hard rock to heavy metal, punk, gothic metal, blues and other generes).
While words are generally accepted as being (with clitics) the smallest units of syntax, it is clear that, in most (if not all) languages, words can be related to other words by rules. The rules understood by the speaker reflect specific patterns (or regularities) in the way words are formed from smaller units and how those smaller units interact in speech. In this way, morphology is the branch of linguistics that studies patterns of word-formation within and across languages, and attempts to formulate rules that model the knowledge of the speakers of those languages, in the context of historical linguistics, how the means of expression change over time. Director-choreographer Bob Fosse and producer-director Harold Prince were equally instrumental in making defining contributions to the concept musical. Modern examples of the concept musical include Assassins and Avenue Q. Shows ranging from Fiddler on the Roof to Sweeney Todd have been argued as being concept musicals, though there is little critical agreement. The concept musical has direct ties to the megamusical, which has similar roots in the Andrew Lloyd Webber work Cats, and the similarly plotless revue. Mirroring the social upheaval of the 1960s and beyond, the concept musical as a form provided a means of expression and experimentation for musical theatre writers and audiences alike.
Dobra creates almost exclusively hand-coloured black-and- white photographs, where the hand colouring plays a specific role as a means of expression. Dobra's works are often still lifes, featuring abstract themes of life (egg), contrasting elements (slice of a watermelon pressed into the carrier of an old bicycle) and surreal compositions, sometimes distantly inspired by works of classical surrealist painters such as René Magritte. Dobra’s photography is closely tied to the poetics of melancholy, often exhibited by using an old, rotten wall with a falling, mouldy plaster as a background, or other worn down items (not rarely in contrast to things colourful, new and fragile).
It also underlined two new facts in Argentine politics: on one hand, the alliance of the students' movement with the workers, and on the other hand, the predominance of the interior (or of the provinces of Argentina) on the capital, Buenos Aires. The Cordobazo also had lasting influences on the history of Argentina. On one hand, it showed that the population accepted violent means to defend themselves against the military dictatorship, since no other democratic means of expression could be used. On the other hand, liberal democracy, parliamentarism and the system of elections was globally refused by what came to be known as the New Opposition (Nueva Oposición).
The Encyclopaedia of African Literature, edited by Simon Gikandi (Routledge, 2003), gives this definition: "Orature means something passed on through the spoken word, and because it is based on the spoken language it comes to life only in a living community. Where community life fades away, orality loses its function and dies. It needs people in a living social setting: it needs life itself." In Songs and Politics in Eastern Africa, edited by Kimani Njogu and Hervé Maupeu (2007), it is stated (page 204) that Zirimu, who coined the term, defines orature as "the use of utterance as an aesthetic means of expression" (as quoted by Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o, 1988).

Prince started taking pictures in 2011 and bought his first iPhone in 2014 which is the primary tool he uses in creating his art pieces. He began with snapshots of friends, family and models from his hometown of Ghana and then realized he could seriously use his phone as an arts creation tool, as a means of expression. He using an iPhone to shoot is a way to distinguish his art from other visual artists and photographers to break the codes of this singular and elitist art. His work is all about conveying feelings through colors and giving the floor to the people that are left aside from the society.
AC was created in 1922 around the Catalan National Conference, which brought together elements of the Joventut Nacionalista, the Regionalist League, former members of the Federal Unió Republicana Nacionalista, and independent youth intellectuals. Dissatisfied with the performance of Lliga, rated low by the new nationalist party, the first central committee was formed by Jaume Bofill i Mates, President, Lluis Nicolau d'Olwer, Antoni Rovira i Virgili, Carlos Jordán, Ramon d'Abadal i Vinyals and Leandre Cervera. The daily Advertising, acquired by the new party and fully Catalanised (it was renamed the Publicitat), became his means of expression. In the first elections in which he participated he achieved excellent results.
Pilar Barrios in 1948 Pilar Barrios (1889 – 1974) was an important poet of the black community of Uruguay and one of the founders of the Partido Autóctono Negro. He demonstrated in his poetry an understanding of the class-based racism in his society, and expressed hope that this could be overturned by the development of a racial consciousness (awareness of negritud) and renovation of education. He was optimistic in regards to this project, because he believed in the fundamental equality of people and races, as he expressed in his poems. One of his means of expression was the journal Nuestra raza, which he co-founded with his sister Maria in 1917.
In this period, the popular song began signaling a new possible means of expression that went beyond the three-minute love song, leading to an intersection between the "underground" and the "establishment" for listening publics. The Beach Boys' leader Brian Wilson is credited for setting a precedent that allowed bands and artists to enter a recording studio and act as their own producers. The music was developed immediately following a brief period in the mid 1960s where creative authenticity among musical artists and consumer marketing coincided with each other. Before the progressive pop of the late 1960s, performers were typically unable to decide on the artistic content of their music.
This misinterpretation or stigma is closely related to Boogie Down Productions and the general purpose behind their underlying themes of violence. For instance, the cover art of Criminal Minded displays the two artists in this group brandishing drawn guns and displaying other firearms. This is not an encouragement of the violence described in BDP's music, but rather a portrayal or hinting at the violence present in the South Bronx as a means of expression, escape, and even condemnation. This album art is not meant to advocate for violence but to challenge the conception of a criminal, to assert that those who are really criminally minded are those who hold power.
Despite his commitments to work and family, Matsudaira was a dedicated artist, continually experimenting with new techniques, materials, and means of expression. A 1953 oil painting, Self-portrait (Injured in a foxhole), is figurative yet highly symbolic, representing the foxhole in which he was nearly killed as a place of both death and rebirth. His art evolved toward abstraction, with works such as Adoration (1955) and Quiet Motion and Blue (1961) having a sombre, introspective quality. Matsudaira's work was shown at the 1962 World's Fair in Seattle, the International Art Exhibition in Chinatown, the Seattle Art Museum, the Zoe Dusanne Gallery, and many other institutions around the Northwest.
Bill "Bojangles" Robinson was also the best known and the most highly paid black American entertainer in America during the first half of the twentieth century. Tap dance is a type of dance characterised by using the sounds of metal taps affixed to the heel and toe of shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion, coupled with both characteristic and interpretative body movements. Its roots were in minstrel shows, it gained prominence in Vaudeville, then emerged into an art form and means of expression alongside the evolution of jazz. There are several styles of tap dance, including rhythm (jazz), classical, Broadway, and post-modern.
Other 'light salons' followed in Krefeld and in Frankfurt. Since 1966, after the group ZERO dissolved and a last joint exhibition, Uecker increasingly used nails as an artistic means of expression—a material that, until today, stands in the centre of his oeuvre. At the beginning of the 1960s he began hammering nails into pieces of furniture, musical instruments and household objects, and then he began combining nails with the theme of light, creating his series of light nails and kinetic nails and other works. a-x Zero Garden from 1966, in the collection of the Honolulu Museum of Art, demonstrates his use of nails to create the illusion of movement.
It is clear at any rate that this grand > notion of the inadequacy of life, so various in its means of expression, so > reliable a bass note in the arts, needs to be counted as a possible > territory of the pastoral. There is a Vergilian > quality in the lines, haunting indeed, a pathos not mentioned because it is > the whole of the story.
Griffin-Gracy views the state of being transgender or genderqueer as one of "living outside the law" due to constant rejection from mainstream audiences, particularly in pursuing job or education opportunities. She also argues that while many people with transgender and queer identities are not imprisoned, their identities and means of expression are policed through social behavior and state policies. She frequently cites the prison industrial complex as a major factor in why transgender people are incarcerated, specifically people of color and those with low income. Griffin-Gracy has discussed the need for activism for transgender persons based in part on stories of discrimination from others.
Some other ballets choreographed by Lopukhov in an effort to find a new means of expression include Night on Bald Mountain, with music by Mussorgsky (1924), Pulcinella (1926) and The Fox (1927), both with music by Stravinsky. His attempts to evolve the principles of classical dance were displayed in the acrobatic movements and character dances closely resembling the original ethnic dances they sprung forth from. This was apparent in his ballet The Ice Maiden, with music by Grieg (1927), which was one of his longest running ballets, being staged until 1936. He also choreographed The Bolt in 1931 and choreographed and co-wrote the libretto for The Limpid Stream in 1935, both with music by Shostakovich.
It became possible to speak of her traits and characteristics inherent in its pupils and showed up as early as their independent work. As well as its place and role in the development of Soviet art and art school as a whole. They confirmed the gravity of Leningrad artists to create works of great public importance, the culture of professional excellence, to the "typical in Leningrad exquisite harmony of color" and a generalized interest in painting and figurative images. Weinstein, 27 Holmes wrote in the second preface to Elsie Venner, his first novel, that his aim in writing the work was "to test the doctrine of 'original sin' and human responsibility for the distorted violation coming under that technical denomination".Weinstein, 67 He also stated his belief that "a grave scientific doctrine may be detected lying beneath some of the delineations of character" throughout all fiction.Hoyt, 189 Deeming the work a "psychological romance", he employed a romantic narrative in order to describe moral theology from a scientific perspective. This means of expression is also present in his two other novels, in which Holmes uses medical or psychological dilemmas to further the story's dramatic plot.
Emphasizing the use of modern means of expression and the search for specific compositional techniques, he bring together serial, atonal, microtonal, polymodal, and spectral music. Partly inspired by the traditions of 20th-century Slavic classical music, Vladimír Hirsch keeps building hybrid working models in tonal principles, composition, and instrumentation. Using digital techniques for classical orchestras together with a wide range of sound sources, he searches to achieve the alchemical transformation of sounds into a homogeneous, indivisible substance. This principle, called "integrated music"Claudia Admiron: Invocatio (rozhovor pro "Heathen Harvest", 2013) by itself, also represents the metaphysical idea of the creative concept, which consists in the collision and reconciliation of two seemingly opposite spiritual worlds within an individual.
Then, resident-general, François Manceron enacted "scoundrel decrees", granting him the right to imprison at his will any nationalist and suspend newspapers and associations "hostile to the protectorate". Despite that, the victory over the Residence led to the election of El Materi, the Bourguiba brothers, Guiga and Sfar to the executive committee of the party during the extraordinary Destour congress held on May 12 and May 13, 1933. But the maintained turmoil led the Residence to censor nationalist press and suspend the Destour, on May 31. Bourguiba, deprived of means of expression, benefited from the events of August 8, when riots started in Monastir upon the forced interment of a naturalized's child.
The son, at this point, puts on his father's cap and tunic. A tribal elder, carrying the dead man's bow, ritually guides the son to his father's granary and shows him the inside. After his father's death the son is considered a mature man for the purposes of ritual, and it is his responsibility to make sacrifices to the ancestors, chief among them being his own father, who being recently dead is held to act as an intermediary between those still living and the more remote ancestors. It is believed that these taboos and rituals serve to channel ambivalence and resentment between generations into culturally defined and culturally acceptable means of expression.
Another example, 2 Live Crew's album "As Nasty as They Wanna Be", released in 1989, made it by censors due to translational difficulty. Hip-hop music from the Arab Spring movement presented direct challenges to the strict censorship policies of many regimes throughout the Middle East and North African region. Arabic hip-hop became a means of expression that actively resisted against the state and its regulations. In states like Tunisia, a state that previously censored all negative public statements against the government and was characterized as having one of the least free media in the world, hip-hop music became a visible representation of the resistance and signaled the impending social and political changes.
Since 1930 when the first Malayalam film Vigathakumaran was released and over the following decade or two, Malayalam Cinema had grown to become one of the popular means of expression for both works of fiction and social issues, and it remains so. Music formed a major part of early Malayalam literature, which is believed to have started developing by 9th century CE. The significance of music in the culture of Kerala can be established just by the fact that in Malayalam language, musical poetry was developed long before prose. Kerala is musically known for Sopanam. Sopanam is religious in nature, and developed through singing invocatory songs at the Kalam of Kali, and later inside temples.

In recent years, Kamēr… has developed programs specially commissioned for the choir. Its biggest project to date is World Sun Songs (2008), which featured 17 new choral works inspired by the sun; the project included such world-renowned composers as Sir John Tavener, Giya Kancheli, Sven-David Sandström, Leonid Desyatnikov, John Luther Adams, Stephen Leek, Dobrinka Tabakova, Ko Matsushita, and others. Other examples of this concept have included the cycles Madrigals of Love (2010), Moon Songs (2012), and Amber Songs (2014), in which several celebrated composers wrote choral miniatures on love, the moon, or arrangements of Latvian folk songs, respectively. The choir has also actively worked toward the goal of synthesizing genres and means of expression.
Deimantas Narkevičius Too Long on a Pedestal, 1994 Although Deimantas Narkevičius is primarily known for his cinematographic work, he started his career working with sculpture and found objects. Narkevičius's aim to personalise the relationship between the artist and his work emerged during his study years in Vilnius Academy of Arts, as also did his search for a means of expression matching the conceptual idea. It prompted him to embrace the avant-garde tradition and the principles of site-specific art. At that stage, he sought to cast off the dominant romantic concept of art and actualise other principles of visual expression that would directly and didactically reflect the thinking of the artist.
This was the first group in the history of Polish contemporary art to openly manifest against the aesthetics of the Colorism movement. The primary thesis of Wróblewski's program accented the need for art in which "aesthetic and ideological elements would be indivisibly fused." Between 1947 and 1948 Wroblewski focused on experimentation in oil paintings and gouaches developing a unique means of expression, whilst remaining open to the influences of modern artist styles such as surrealism, abstract art, and geometric art), which in turn affected the nature of other talented artists in Kraków. His canvasses of this period frequently include geometric figures Niebo nad Gorami (The Sky over the Mountains), Niebo Niebieskie (Blue Blue Sky) in 1948; Segmenty, (1949).

Instead, in his writing The Lord Chandos Letter, Hofmannsthal abandons poetry and his work on aesthetics much to the disappointment of his readers. The Lord Chandos Letter was written during the fin de siècle, a clash between the old social order and a development of new thought and means of expression. Central figures of the movement such as Hofmannsthal, Sigmund Freud, Ernst Mach and Ludwig Wittgenstein witnessed the transformation of society but were dismayed by their inability to effect change in a modern society that was “hopelessly pluralistic; lacking in cohesion or direction”.Wellberry, David E., (ed.) An architecture description language (ADL) is any means of expression used to describe a software architecture (ISO/IEC/IEEE 42010). Many special-purpose ADLs have been developed since the 1990s, including AADL (SAE standard), Wright (developed by Carnegie Mellon), Acme (developed by Carnegie Mellon), xADL (developed by UCI), Darwin (developed by Imperial College London), DAOP-ADL (developed by University of Málaga), and ByADL (University of L'Aquila, Italy). Early ADLs emphasized modeling systems in terms of their components, connectors and configurations. More recent ADLs (such as ArchiMate and SysML) have tended to be "wide-spectrum" languages capable of expressing not only components and connectors but a variety of concerns through multiple sub- languages.
Picasso's final works were a mixture of styles, his means of expression in constant flux until the end of his life. Devoting his full energies to his work, Picasso became more daring, his works more colourful and expressive, and from 1968 to 1971 he produced a torrent of paintings and hundreds of copperplate etchings. At the time these works were dismissed by most as pornographic fantasies of an impotent old man or the slapdash works of an artist who was past his prime. Only later, after Picasso's death, when the rest of the art world had moved on from abstract expressionism, did the critical community come to see the late works of Picasso as prefiguring Neo- Expressionism.

FC Apatride UTD is a Roots Reggae band from Belgrade city. The band was born in a ravaged country as a response to the neo-colonial atmosphere in political, economic and cultural trends dominating all fields of life in the Balkans, in the aftermath of the imperialist intervention. Using reggae music as a rebellious means of expression, the band addresses the issues of importance in neo-colonies from the Marxist perspective, and links art to actual class struggles on the ground, involving anti-xenophobia, shelter for refugees, anti-NATO shows, boycott of the bourgeois media etc. Signed for a Parisian label Makasound, the band released two albums before moving to British label Urban Sedated Records.
Lewat Djam Malam was first screened domestically in 1954. It was initially meant to be screened in the Asian Film Festival in Tokyo, but the Indonesian government refused this; the refusal was meant to be a form of protest against unpaid Japanese crimes during the occupation from 1942 to 1945. Lewat Djam Malam is generally considered a classic of Indonesian cinema. Film historian JB Kristanto writes that Lewat Djam Malam was Ismail's work which most showed Indonesian history; he considers Ismail the first Indonesian director to use film as a means of expression and not simply as a way to make money, and opines that no film in Indonesian history could match Ismail's achievements with Lewat Djam Malam.
Close study and wide observation confirmed her in the belief that drawing should be a study not for the few only, but for all, a means of expression for every child, and therefore should be an integral part of public school education. Receiving the appointment of supervisor of drawing in the public schools of Syracuse, she visited several of the larger cities in the country, to observe school conditions. She found that drawing had a place in nearly every course of study, but that there was actually very little work of merit accomplished. More favorable conditions existed in Boston than elsewhere, but even there, drawing was not given the prominence to which she believed it was entitled.
Beginning with staff and students of the University, Binns later expanded the project to the Sydney suburb of Blacktown where she worked closely with Patricia Parker, a community officer at the Blacktown City Council. Mothers' Memories, Others' Memories recalled the "lives of women and their means of expression in the domestic sphere", through facilitating a space where participants could come and share stories of the various craft and needlework skills that they had been taught from their mothers and other members of their family. Described as "dense, fragmented, [and] multilayered" The final work was exhibited as a series of postcards installed on a postcard rack. In 1983, Binns began work on her next major community art project Full Flight.
That summer, deprived as she was of any means of expression, she wrote her first novel – The Treasure of Vaghia – which started off like a game together with the children who surrounded her. While Maus has been credited with lifting comics from popular culture into the world of high art in the public imagination, criticism has tended to ignore its deep roots in popular culture, roots that Spiegelman has intimate familiarity with and has devoted considerable time to promote. Spiegelman's belief that comics are best expressed in a diagrammatic or iconic manner has had a particular influence on formalists such as Chris Ware and his former student Scott McCloud. In 2005, the September 11-themed New Yorker cover placed sixth on the top ten of magazine covers of the previous 40 years by the American Society of Magazine Editors. Spiegelman has inspired numerous cartoonists to take up the graphic novel as a means of expression, including Marjane Satrapi.
Marius Kahan (born October 25, 1955, London, England) is an English crossover jazz / funk / Latin electric violinist and composer. Classically trained at Trinity College London, he was attracted to jazz at a time when notable figures of the genre were developing new means of expression through the use of electric instruments and alternative rhythms borrowed from rock, funk and Latin styles of music. Key influences on his direction included violinist Jean-Luc Ponty, Santana, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and Frank Zappa. In the early 1980s, along with guitarist Richard Scarfe and percussionist / vibesman Mike Turtle, he founded acid jazz group Shinara, a five-piece combo with an unusual line-up and musically diverse style that was well received by audiences.

Dress serves as a means of expression or celebration, with some dressing elements such as saffron threads or white dress worn by men as moral, transformative and a means to identify and communicate one's social role in a gathering, or one's state of life such as mourning in days or weeks after the passing away of a loved one. The canons of modesty for Hindus in South Asia underwent significant changes with the arrival of Islam in the 12th century. The Islamic rulers imposed a dress code in public places for Hindu dhimmis, per their Islamic mores of modesty. The sari worn by Hindu women extended to provide a veil, as well as a complete cover of her navel and legs.
Although Badawi refused to introduce modern Arabic wording to his poetry, his work was influenced to a certain extent by his modern experience of exile, poverty and political activism. Thus, while his poems are generally considered to be representative of the conservative genre, his work went "much beyond the mere imitation of classical models", according to Stefan Sperl. In Badawi's view, the incorporation of shi'r hurr (free verse) into modern Arabic poetry is an unnecessary innovation, arguing that the classical Arabic form is a satisfactory means of expression in the modern day. He did not consider free verse to be poetry at all, but rather a completely different form of literature, insistent that eventually Arabic poets would return to the classical tradition.
He arranged many of his songs in several versions and provided an insight into his creative evolution and development toward a seasoned compositional and technical mastery. Marinković exhibits the ability of deep delving into the meaning and mood of selected lyrics, following the correct diction, with inventive, broad melodies, and an overall direct expression. Melody represents his primary tool; although in his later works noticeable is a rather elaborated piano part and somewhat free harmonic language, within the realm of the late romanticist means of expression. Marinković also found his inspiration in the texts close to folk songs and composed in the manner close to folk, establishing in Serbian art music a popular sevdalinka genre (Šana, dear, Stojanka, and From town to town).
The book contained a wealth of new information and new perspectives on the interplay between historical events, social conditions and folk singing. Clausen's great idea, of the folk song performed by the everyday person, who likes and needs the song as a means of expression, became with him a study subject of deeper culture-historical perspectives than seen before. In 1963, he gave up high school teaching and accepted a position as lecturer with the Musicological Department at Aarhus University, where he led the archive Sanghistorisk Arkiv. The work Too Long on a Pedestal was made in 1994, when the Lithuanian public was still affected by the huge political and social shifts of the early 1990s. The stagnant and morally compromised ideological system that had dominated social life for nearly 50 years was being replaced by a new one. This work, tinged with subtle humour, is a reflection on how the heritage of the political system becomes history. The means of expression selected by the artist, a pair of worn-out classic-style shoes, now filled with coarse salt, points to the statues of heroes that used to embody the value system of the former epoch, but the people promptly removed them from their pedestals, as politics changed its course.
The incident inspired Rogovin to turn to photography as a means of expression; it was a way to continue to speak to the worth and dignity of people who make their livings under modest or difficult circumstances, often in physically taxing occupations that usually receive little attention. The fifty graffiti murals were commissioned to be created in time for the June 2019 50th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Riots at the Stonewall Inn, widely considered the spark of the modern LGBTQ rights movement. It’s a collaboration between NYC Pride, production and curation partner, LISA Project NYC, founding partner, HSBC, and significant supporting partner, Macy’s. The project’s goal is to foster “public dialogue on LGBTQ+ rights and queer art throughout New York City”. NYC Pride’s executive director, Chris Frederick, stated “Art, in all its forms, has always been an integral means of expression in the LGBTQIA+ community, and particularly meaningful to the fabric of New York City’s culture,” and “street art is a poetic example of this expression”.
The duration of each event lasts between nine and twelve months in each town. It receives thousands of spectators and proposes shows of acrobats, jugglers, tightrope walkers, fakirs, clowns musicians, animal tamers magicians, contemporary dancers, opera, the magic of the light, winging, circus parades, mimes, from cosmic spectacle to informatics, science and physic of the circus. Bringing more than thousand artists from Switzerland and the whole world, with almost as much means of expression, it encompasses a town in the beauty of discovery for a whole year. The main task of « World Circus » is to open a new way in the creative art and urbanism. This event offers, among others, a wider interest for the public’s curiosity for the contemporary creation and new technologies.
With over 80 artists hailing from 21 countries and 6 continents including Shepard Fairey, Ceet Fouad, Fuego Fatal, JonOne, Ganzeer, Anders Gjennestad, Yazan Halwani, Logan Hicks, Mark Jenkins,:fr:UrbanArt Biennale the exhibition grew to twice its size compared to that of 2013. Furthermore, the podium for the Biennial was vastly extended, more rooms created a 10,000m² covered area and an open-air course (the Parcour) of more than 100,000m². With UrbanArt artworks from the Arabian region and in particular from Egypt the 2015 Biennial placed emphasis on particular countries. In the “Arab Spring” graffiti and other forms of Street Art became a means of expression used in the fight against repression, social grievances and for freedom of expression in the Arab states and particularly in Egypt.
His most ambitious and complex modernist work, the 1982 orchestral score Variants, was premiered by the Esprit Orchestra in Toronto in the 1987–1988 season, recorded by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, as a result of winning the 1986 Micheline Coulombe St-Marcoux Prize (CAPAC). However, two works of the Toronto period point to the future vision of music as a more unified means of expression, without stylistic boundaries: SOUND OFF (1983), for 40 saxes, 30 trombones, 30 trumpets and 8 bass drums (an outdoor performance piece – unperformed until 1999) and Visions (1984), for improvising soloist and string orchestra. This latter work was to become his first CD release in 1988, in a remarkable performance by trumpeter Kenny Wheeler, with the Orchestre de chambre de Montréal.
But nine months later Pärt won First Prize in a competition of 1,200 works, awarded by the all-Union Society of Composers, indicating the Soviet regime's inability to agree on what was permissible. His first overtly sacred piece, Credo (1968), was a turning point in his career and life; on a personal level he had reached a creative crisis that led him to renounce the techniques and means of expression used so far; on a social level the religious nature of this piece resulted in him being unofficially censured and his music disappearing from concert halls. For the next eight years he composed very little, focusing instead on study of medieval and Renaissance music to find his new musical language.
In the winter of 1968–1969, Jens Juncker-Jensen went even further with an excellent exhibition Fotografiet som udtryksmiddel (Photography as a means of expression) for which he drew the very best material from the few photographic books of the time, attracting not only professional and amateur photographers but also architects and television producers. It provided a basis for six TV programmes over the following months. There was, however, little real discussion of photography as an art form. In the early 1970s, under the influence of the United States where photography had become an academic discipline, exhibitions such as New American Photography in Copenhagen's Bella Center presented top artistic photographers of the 1950s and 1960s including Harry Callahan, Jerry Uelsmann and Diane Arbus.
Although information access has increased in the country and there is more freedom to protest gender inequality, there is often a lack of interest in doing so. "The weak representation of feminist art in Romania is based on inconsistencies in information, prejudices, and negative value judgments: the majority of art training’s interest is focused on making art as a means of expression without applying any serious gendered analysis" (Olivia Nitis). Wanda Mihuleac is considered to be the only artist pre-1990 to have any feminist approach in her work. After the revolution there were still very few to engage in this type of dialogue, even to the point of refusing to discuss what it was like being a woman in Romania during the Communist time.

For two years after leaving Oxford he lived chiefly in Glasgow before settling to the study of Scots law in Edinburgh, where he was elected to the Faculty of Advocates in 1816. A tour on the continent in 1817, when he visited Goethe at Weimar, was made possible by the publisher William Blackwood, who advanced money for a translation of Friedrich Schlegel's Lectures on the History of Literature, which would not be published until 1838. Edinburgh was then the stronghold of the Whig party, whose organ was the Edinburgh Review; and it was not till 1817 that the Scottish Tories found a means of expression in Blackwood's Magazine.

Another trait of this artistic school is the influence of conceptual art and innovative media such as the installation and the performance or display. It is worth noting that at this time the boundaries between all these types of media were blurred, and the use of terms like "activity" and "concept", instead of terms like "installation" and "display", which were coined only in 1976, referred more to the intentions of the artist than to the final artistic result. Photography as well, which from the 1970s also began to be a means of expression for artists, was seen as a tool for combining images in conceptual art, and as a means for documenting installations and displays.
Jose Ramon worked as a painting teacher at the School of Arts in the Isle of Youth (Isla de la Juventud), where he founded the group Terracota 4 with Amelia Carballo, Angel Norniella and Agustin Villafaña. He then explored ceramics as a means of expression, taking the first steps by working on artistic installations, and enhancing the conceptual value of the works. This broadened the aesthetic panorama of the pottery in Cuba, which was considered a minor art until that time. Besides being a first figure of the pinera ceramics for the excellence of his work and his history as a member of the group Terracota 4 that gave national presence to the Isle of Youth in the ceramic field, stands out as a trainer of new figures that recognize the contributions of his teaching.
Some surrealists in particular Joan Miró, who called for the "murder of painting" (In numerous interviews dating from the 1930s onwards, Miró expressed contempt for conventional painting methods and his desire to "kill", "murder", or "rape" them in favor of more contemporary means of expression).M. Rowell, Joan Mirό: Selected Writings and Interviews (London: Thames & Hudson, 1987) pp. 114–116. have denounced or attempted to "supersede" painting, and there have also been other anti-painting trends among artistic movements, such as that of Dada and conceptual art. The trend away from painting in the late 20th century has been countered by various movements, for example the continuation of Minimal Art, Lyrical Abstraction, Pop Art, Op Art, New Realism, Photorealism, Neo Geo, Neo-expressionism, New European Painting, Stuckism and various other important and influential painterly directions.
Some of these composers were among the most famous and talented in Europe, including Melchior Franck, Hans Leo Hassler, and the spectacularly prolific Michael Praetorius. Praetorius's Musae Sioniae (1605-1610), an enormous collection of approximately 1200 pieces, includes some of the finest and most advanced examples of the form; however, by this time the chorale concerto and other types of chorale settings were beginning to eclipse the chorale motet as a primary means of expression for the German chorale. Bach's son Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach composed a motet in three movements in the second half of the 18th century, Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, still using Baroques techniques such as a chorale fantasia on Nicolai's "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" and the inclusion of a setting by his father.

From the 1930s onwards MacDiarmid found himself turning more and more to English as a means of expression so that most of his later poetry is written in that language. His ambition was to live up to Rilke's dictum that 'the poet must know everything' and to write a poetry that contained all knowledge.
The former and larger essay was the more mature of the two, and, although not altogether free from haste and opinionatedness, it had the merit of a point of view. The author discussee the matter of self-support and independence, and that however urgent such may be, they are reduced to insignificance by the necessity of women finding a means of expression for the spiritual growth that takes place in them. She also spoke about labor, like virtue, may be its own reward; and from professional and other means of expressing the fullness of human nature, certainly no one should be debarred. The second essay, by Frances Ekin Allison, is thought out on a lower key, and referenced the independence that a woman feels when she has a source of income in her own right.
It is a material which lends itself to quick, fast application and is particularly good for spontaneous sketching with paint squeezed directly from the tube. The fact that these works will not last (sponge is not a very durable material) does not deter me; it suits the character of the work very well and to an extent reflects my ideas about art”.Exhibition catalogue At the time of writing, the Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, 1998. Being an atheist, he does not reject inspiration coming from religion themes and architecture, as well as the surrounding nature and Dutch landscape. Agnieszka Gołębiewska, curator of one of Vetulani's shows, said that “his work balances between two fascinating axes, producing an image of an artist juggling various means of expression.
Ginsberg's "long-time confidant and secretary, head of the Allen Ginsberg Trust," Bob Rosenthal, argues that the film is "a superb evocation of young college students in the midst of World War II finding their unique means of expression in the world." However, he states, it also contains a number of inaccuracies: "The large fabrications in the film are not so worrisome as the small ones. In any case, when the truth is stepped on and the nuance of truth is denied, the message becomes moribund."
