His wife created the portmanteau name of the brand by combining elements of two words: craie (French for "chalk") and ola for "oleaginou" or "oily", since the crayons were made using a petroleum based wax. In 1905, Binney and Smith had already invented a new wax crayon used to mark crates and barrels, but it was loaded with carbon black and too toxic for use by children. They were confident that the pigment and wax mixing techniques they had developed could be adapted to make safe wax crayons in a variety of colors. Binney also put forward the idea of black tires, again using carbon black, which strengthens the rubber and makes it more thermally conductive.

On 3 May 1961, Skyways signed a contract for the purchase of three Avro 748s at a cost of £750,000. On 6 November, the process of final certification of the Avro 748 began. A programme of 160 hours of flying, simulating airline service, took place over the following 19 days and included a break for maintenance on 16 November. The programme also allowed Skyways pilots to gain further experience towards the 50 hours in command they needed before they could fly the aircraft in service. The aircraft was returned to Avro at the end of the trials as it was not scheduled to be delivered to Skyways until 1 March 1962. On 15 March 1962, a bomb disposal officer was killed at Lympne when the pipe mine he was attempting to make safe exploded.

Ranger Justin James 'Cups' Cupples, aged 29, from 7 Platoon, C (Ranger) Company, 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment, was killed in an explosion while on a foot patrol in Sangin town, northern Helmand Province at 0710 hours local time on Thursday 4 September 2008. The explosion is believed to have been from an improvised explosive device. The soldier was given first aid at the scene, but died a short time later Warrant Officer Class 2 Gary 'Gaz' O'Donnell GM, aged 40, an Ammunition Technician serving with 11 Explosive Ordnance Disposal Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps died 10 September 2008 in Musa Qaleh, Helmand province, southern Afghanistan. WO2 O'Donnell was commanding an Improvised Explosive Device Disposal team who were trying to make safe a confirmed IED that had been detected by a specialist search team.

Priests are a post-punk band from Washington D.C. Formed in 2012, the band is composed of Katie Alice Greer (vocals), Daniele Daniele (drums), and G.L. Jaguar (guitar).
