The Honors Program — now in its year (founded in February 2010) — was established to enhance academic enrichment for exceptional students in the LPN to RN Associate degree program — and to officially recognize and support their collegiate achievements. Honorees are selected bi-annually — in February and August. All candidates must have a minimum of a 3.75 GPA (out of 4) at the end of the first quarter to qualify, must receive commendable faculty reviews, and must maintain a 3.5 GPA overall until graduation to continue in the honors program.

When Leach arrived in the San Francisco Bay Area with her 6 children, she intended to go to school, but the Relocation Act required her to get a job. She joined the staff of the Peralta Hospital as a nurse's aide. She eventually was able to transfer to the night shift and enrolled at Laney College, earning her certificate as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). She began working as a nurse for Dr. David Tepper and actively worked to improve medical care for the urban Indian population in the Bay Area.

Blanche Ely High School offers medical and engineering magnet programs and vocational programs such as the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and the LPN nursing The Practical Nursing Program at Blanche Ely High School is part of the Broward County Practical Nursing Program. It is the only Practical Nursing Program in a comprehensive high school in the State of Florida. Students who qualify for this program, and successfully complete it, are awarded certificates of completion at the end of their senior year. They also qualify to take the Florida State Board of Nursing licensing exam (NCLEX) to become Licensed Practical Nurses.

A nurse educator is a nurse who teaches and prepares licensed practical nurses (LPN) and registered nurses (RN) for entry into practice positions. They can also teach in various patient care settings to provide continuing education to licensed nursing staff. Nurse Educators teach in graduate programs at Master's and doctoral level which prepare advanced practice nurses, nurse educators, nurse administrators, nurse researchers, and leaders in complex healthcare and educational organizations. The type of degree required for a nurse educator may be dependent upon the governing nurse practice act or upon the regulatory agencies that define the practice of nursing.

All of the nursing homes employees are all required to be licensed or uphold a certificate in the state of which they work. In most facilities, nursing homes are required to provide enough staff to adequately care for residents. In the U.S., for instance, nursing homes must have at least one registered nurse (RN) available for at least 8 straight hours a day throughout the week, and at least one licensed practical nurse (LPN) on duty 24 hours a day. Direct care nursing home employees usually include registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, and physical therapists, amongst others.

A nursing assistant provides basic care to patients while working directly under a LPN or RN. These basic care activities, also referred to as activities of daily living, can include assisting with bathing and dressing residents, helping residents with meals, either serving them or with feeding, transferring to and from the bed or wheelchair, making and cleaning beds, assisting with toileting, and answering call lights. Nursing assistants' official titles can vary between jurisdictions and facilities. They can include Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), nursing aides, caregivers, patient care associates, patient care technicians, personal care attendants (PCAs), and care assistants.

ATC roots go back to January 1985, when the Georgia legislature was first lobbied to create the school. In December 1985, the State Board of Postsecondary Vocational- Technical Education voted to create the school, whose service area was focused on Appling and Wayne counties and was named Altamaha Technical Institute. Classes were first held in July 1989, when an LPN program was transferred to ATC from Waycross-Ware Tech (now Okefenokee Technical College). In 1992, ATC gained accreditation from the Council on Occupational Education, a national institutional accrediting agency based in Georgia and recognized by the Department of Education.

The Department of Veterans Affairs' Office of Patient Care Services has a Primary Care Program Office that has implemented a new patient-centered medical home (PCMH) model at VHA primary care sites. This PCMH model is referred to as Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT). PAC Teams provide accessible, patient-centered care and are managed by primary care providers with the active involvement of other clinical and non-clinical staff. Veteran patients will be at the center of a "teamlet," which will include a primary care provider, RN care manager, LPN/health tech, and a medical support assistant (MSA).

In some states, the terms "nurse" or "nursing" may only be used in conjunction with the practice of a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical or vocational nurse (LPN/LVN).

Oklahoma Private School Association (OPSA) is an organization of proprietary postsecondary schools and colleges dedicated to a higher quality of education for Oklahoma's technical and vocational workforce. Training at OPSA schools include computer technology, computer programming, medical assistant, LPN, surgical technician, dental hygiene, medical billing and coding, computerized accounting, transcription, court reporting, electrical, heating and air conditioning, just to name a few. In 2005 there were 42 accredited proprietary postsecondary schools and colleges in Oklahoma that employed 1,179 staff and faculty and produced 5,646 graduates. A recent study by Imagine America estimates career schools in Oklahoma contribute $108 million yearly to the Oklahoma economy.

In some settings, LPNs/LVNs have opportunities for advancement, including the possibility of becoming credentialed in a certain area (such as IV therapy, gerontology, long-term care and pharmacology) or of becoming a charge nurse, responsible for overseeing the work of other LPNs and various unlicensed assistive personnel, such as nursing assistants. Some LPNs/LVNs choose to undergo further education and become registered nurses. LPN-to-RN training programs ("bridge programs") exist for this purpose. These include further classroom study to obtain at least an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) and clinical practice followed by another exam, the National Council Licensure Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN).

In 1967, Miller completed her PhD in Social Welfare at UC Berkeley and in 1968 her research was used to help pass the Lanterman-Petris-Short Act. That same year, she founded and became director of the Institute for Scientific Analysis (ISA). When Native Americans began the occupation of Alcatraz Island, Miller worked with Stella Leach, an LPN who was the primary organizer, and Jenny Joe, along with volunteer doctors to provide health services at a clinic established on the island in one of the buildings.

Anthony Ray was born on August 12, 1963, in Auburn, Washington, a suburb of Seattle, and grew up in Seattle's Central District. Growing up, Ray's mother worked as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) at the King County Jail making 6 or 7 dollars an hour. Ray was a fan of hip hop and started rhyming in the early 1980s. While living in the Bryant Manor apartments on 19th Ave and East Yesler Way, Anthony Ray started school at Roosevelt High School, near the University District, when the Seattle Public School District was in the throes of what would be a 21-year experiment to integrate the school system.

The estimated tuition for the 2018–19 year with 15 credits per semester was $12,439 for Wyoming residents, $13,567 for Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) students, and $16,951 for out-of-state and international students. The amount includes an average cost of books, supplies, and room and board. The cost per credit is $132 for Wyoming Residents, $179 for WUE students, and $320 for out-of-state and international students for the first 11 credits and begins to decrease ending with 18 credits costing $100 each. The nursing program at the college started in January 1983 and it accepted 15 students a year to become licensed practical nurses (LPN).

The third method is to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), a four-year degree that also prepares nurses for graduate-level education. For the first two years in a BSN program, students usually obtain general education requirements and spend the remaining time in nursing courses. In some new programs the first two years can be substituted for an active LPN license along with the required general studies. Advocates for the ADN and diploma programs state that such programs have an on the job training approach to educating students, while the BSN is an academic degree that emphasizes research and nursing theory.

In the fall of 1972, upon the request of local and state officials, Copiah–Lincoln opened a branch at Natchez, Mississippi, to better meet the educational needs of the citizens of that area. In the fall of 1997 the Simpson County Center opened in downtown Magee. Academic Evening Classes, Employment Training and an LPN class were offered in that facility until the fall of 2005, when a new facility was opened at Legion Lake, between Magee and Mendenhall. The new facility, named in honor of the late Sidney Parker, opened in the fall of 2005 with a comprehensive academic program, along with three Career-Technical programs.

The Federal Law on the Protection of Nature and Landscape (LPN) was passed on 1 July 1966. Every state has different laws, rules, regulations, licensing and certification requirements for advanced practice registered nurses, thus some states may not have a grandfather clause in their state board of nursing laws, in particular as it may relate to transferring a license from one State to another. The US National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) continues to work on a collaborative multi-state compact licensure agreement for advanced practice nurses to be able to work in multiple US states with a singular active home state license. There are on-going discussions on expanding that type of licensure nationally similar to the existing Nurse Licensure Compact for recognition of RN and LPN licenses.

The most significant difference between an LPN and RN is found in the requirements for entry to practice, which determines entitlement for their scope of practice. RNs provide scientific, psychological, and technological knowledge in the care of patients and families in many health care settings. RNs may earn additional credentials or degrees. In the United States, multiple educational paths will qualify a candidate to sit for the licensure examination as an RN. The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) is awarded to the nurse who has completed a two-year undergraduate academic degree awarded by community colleges, junior colleges, technical colleges, and bachelor's degree-granting colleges and universities upon completion of a course of study usually lasting two years.

Malik McGrath, along with nurses Haleh, Chuny and Lily, and paramedics Dwight Zadro and Doris Pickman, has appeared in every season since the pilot. He has given the ER some comic relief and appears to be good friends with desk clerks Frank Martin and Jerry Markovic, to whom Malik once played a joke on, during his birthday surprise party. It's also revealed that he gets very little pay despite his experience and for this does not protest his hours getting cut. Primary Nursing emphasizes continuity of care and acceptance of responsibility for care over a period of time by the patient's Primary Nurse - usually a registered nurse (RN). The care team consists of the Primary Nurse and additional staff - a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and/or nursing assistant (NA) - and together they provide complete care for a group of patients within a hospital unit or department. While serving as Assistant Director of Nursing at the University of Minnesota Hospital, Manthey was head of a team of nurses that implemented Primary Nursing in 1968-1969 on Unit 32, an acute medical care ward. Manthey was later named Associate Director of Nursing at the University of Minnesota.

The FST typically includes 20 staff members: 4 surgeons, 3 RNs, 2 certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), 1 administrative officer, 1 detachment sergeant, 3 licensed practical nurses (LPN)'s, 3 surgical techs and 3 medics.

While the movement towards one national organization may have been welcomed by many, progress was not to be smooth as two years later, another organization, the London and Provincial Newsagents, was formed. More London and southern based than the NCU, the LPN nether the less built a significant membership. A nomination for "None of the above" (NOTA) shall be considered valid. Should NOTA receive a majority of the vote in the balloting for any office or candidacy, the names of all nominees shall be kept on the ballot but the nominations for that office shall be reopened for additional nominees and another ballot taken. A further missing link, from the Sam's Point Preserve in the Shawangunks to VerKeerderkill Falls, was cut a decade later. In 1991, Vince Schaefer prepared a guide to the Long Path north (LPN) section, consisting of a set of five sets of short descriptions of 80+ "Landmarks" with accompanying topographic map locations. The guide was crafted as a hiker's pocket-sized book, entitled Field Guide to the Landmarks of the Long Path of New York: Northern Section -- Gilboa to Whiteface Mt., prepared by Vincent J Schaefer 1931-1991 with the original route and philosophy. Schaefer's son, James M. Schaefer, joined the Long Path North Hiking Club Trail Committee, sharing sets of letters, sketches and plans from his father's files to push the Long Path into the 21st century.

After a two-year hiatus, Lee Presson and the Nails performed a reunion show in San Francisco on 16 September 2006 at the DNA Lounge as part of the inaugural launching of The Hubba Hubba Revue, a San Francisco Burlesque and Variety show. After more shows, Presson moved back to the Bay Area and soon LPN was back in full swing, so to speak. In 2010, the band released Balls in Your Face, a download-only album of ballroom dance music. In recent years, the band has found a new audience in the steampunk/dieselpunk community, headlining in 2012 at the Nova Albion Steampunk Exhibition in Santa Clara, CA in 2011, at Her Royal Majesty's Steampunk Symposium at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA from 2012 to 2015, and at Clockwork Alchemy in San Jose, CA from 2013 to 2018.

Initially the only teams allowed to participate in the league were the state FA's sides, teams representing the Military of Malaysia, the Royal Malaysian Police, and teams representing the neighbouring countries of Singapore and Brunei (though the Football Association of Singapore pulled out of the Malaysian League after the 1994 season following a dispute with the Football Association of Malaysia over gate receipts, and has not been involved since). In 1992, FAM created another amateur league for local clubs in Malaysia to compete in, called the National League in Malay) The league was managed by FAM outside entity, Super Club Sdn. Bhd. Some of the clubs which compete in the league are Hong Chin, Muar FA, PKNK from Kedah, DBKL, PKNS, BSN, LPN, BBMB, Proton, PPC and PKENJ. Unfortunately, the league only ran for a one season before it folded.

Throughout the 1970s, construction and expansion continued at the hospital. Another new wing, part of a four-stage, five-year development program, was dedicated in 1973 to the west of the original hospital structure. A multi-level parking garage was completed; and a three-floor addition to the east wing was accomplished. The 1980s were also marked by expansion. The $3 million Regional Cancer Center was completed in 1981. In 1983, the $6.34 million Robert D. Harrison Annex was opened and Southeast began offering open heart surgery in this new facility. In 1987, Southeast's Obstetrics and Gynecology Center was renovated and renamed after Dennis B. Elrod. In 1990, the Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the Southeast Hospital School of Nursing. Originally started as an LPN to RN program, the school received approval from the State Board of Nursing in 1993 to transition to an associate degree of Nursing Program. In 1991, the hospital opened a $1.2 million addition to the Harrison Annex.

By 2003, permits were issued allowing SIIT to offer two new four-year courses, Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BSOA) and Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCrim). Two thousand five was yet another turning point in the history of the institute when the construction of the new Don Mariano Matugas building was completed. The availability of more classrooms, new equipment, laboratory and other facilities, including an Internet facility, encouraged more students to study at SIIT, which resulted in an increase of enrolment from 500 to almost 700 during the first semester of academic year 2005-2006. Despite the continuing economic downturn that heavily affected enrolment of other tertiary schools with higher tuition fees, SIIT’s enrolment continually grew due to the opening of more academic programs, such as the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT), majors in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics for BSEd, plus the two-year Licensed Practical Nursing Course (LPN), which is duly accredited by TESDA. Other schools’ loss became SIIT’s gain because students who could no longer afford their tuition fees had to turn to SIIT as a fallback for their continued studies.
