The daughter of a London doctor, Gibbons had a turbulent and often unhappy childhood. After an indifferent school career she trained as a journalist, and worked as a reporter and features writer, mainly for the Evening Standard and The Lady. Her first book, published in 1930, was a collection of poems which was well received, and through her life she considered herself primarily a poet rather than a novelist. After Cold Comfort Farm, a satire on the genre of rural-themed "loam and lovechild" novels popular in the late 1920s, most of Gibbons's novels were based within the middle-class suburban world with which she was familiar.
Brandon Voss of Billboard said the album "shows off an edgier, angrier side to the androgynous party princess". Alternative Press Sam Chapman described Whatever as "a bona fide alt-rock album" and "an 11-track suite of growly, straightforward rock songs". He called "27 Club" one of the album's "standout" tracks, and wrote about the song's references to 27 Club, "It's an unexpected but fitting fixation for a drag musician, since drag queens are, by their nature, creatures of self-invention and mythologizing." Daisy Jones of Vice said the album "basically sounds like Courtney Love and Britney Spears if they'd had a lovechild and raised it on stage in Vegas".
As parody of the "loam and lovechild" genre, Cold Comfort Farm alludes specifically to a number of novels both in the past and currently in vogue when Gibbons was writing. According to Faye Hammill's "Cold Comfort Farm, D. H. Lawrence, and English Literary Culture Between the Wars", the works of Sheila Kaye-Smith and Mary Webb are the chief influence: she considered that the farm is modelled on Dormer House in Webb's The House in Dormer Forest, and Aunt Ada Doom on Mrs. Velindre in the same book. The farm-obsessed Reuben's original is in Kaye- Smith's Sussex Gorse, and the Quivering Brethren on the Colgate Brethren in Kaye-Smith's Susan Spray.

Like The Lemonheads but with more primal yelping, the moment when their retro-referencing tunes seem to be veering too much in a pleasant, palatable garage-punk direction, their teeny weeny singer Danny Delegato – the lovechild of Noel Fielding and one of The Monkees – lets go a grave-spinning, throat-slashing screech before indulging in some energetic and muscle-tearing mic-robatics. It’s still early days for the festive shebang, so sadly only a few punters catch the sight of Delegato half- heartedly trashing his guitar at the end of the set. You can almost pinpoint the exact second where he realises he’s going to have to dive into the band’s emergency tour fund to buy a new one. It’s not a pretty sight.
Alex Fletcher of Digital Spy gave the song four stars out of five and called it "simplistic yet beautiful, fluttering, piano-tinkling ballad", the lyrics of which "expose Keys' vulnerability and current loved-up status". David Mead of Paste commented that the song "showcases a new depth and width to the tone of her voice, which seems to get closer to that of Aretha Franklin with each album." Nekesa Mumbi Moody of The Washington Post cited "No One" as one of the "gems" of the album and stated it "recalls a Bob Marley groove". Sarah-Louise James of Daily Star described the song as the "lovechild" of the Black Eyed Peas' song "Where Is the Love?" and Whitney Houston's song "My Love Is Your Love".
So Clifford Davis > presented the tapes to Warners who decided for various reasons that they > weren't going to continue with the contract.Sonja Kristina interview, > Curvedair.com. As implied in Sonja Kristina's comment, Lovechild is essentially an "official" bootleg; neither Warner Brothers nor any of the band members gave permission for the demos to be released, and no royalties were paid to any of the band members from its sales. Years after she made the above comments, however, Repertoire Records obtained permission from both Warner Brothers and the musicians to reissue the album, and in 2011 a legit version with new liner notes was released, though unlike the original release it appeared only on CD. The four Curved Air demos were recorded between Air Cut and the band's breakup.
From 2014 to 2018, 8-Ball operated out of a basement in SoHo, described by The Village Voice as "a superhero's hideout — if the superhero was some mythological lovechild of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Laurie Anderson." From 2018 to 2019, 8-Ball maintained a space in a storefront on Canal Street in SoHo. In 2019, the collective was invited by the art nonprofit Creative Time to operate out of a floor of their building on the Fourth Arts Block in the East Village. These physical spaces have served as 8-Ball's headquarters as it has grown from a team of three — Lele Saveri, Giuseppe Furcolo, and Josh Hubbard — to a collective of dozens that operates a zine library, online radio station, and online public access television station.
To prove she is able to handle her own affairs, Serena refuses to leave jail with either Lily or CeCe (Caroline Lagerfelt) although Lily drops the charges on which she had Serena arrested. Rufus (Matthew Settle) is also angry with Lily for Serena's arrest; Dan (Penn Badgley) and Jenny (Taylor Momsen) inform Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) that Rufus returned home without proposing to Lily, and he has remained in his bedroom ever since. Lily feuds with CeCe for telling Rufus about their lovechild. From jail, Serena encourages Blair (Leighton Meester) to enjoy prom with Nate (Chace Crawford) in the way Blair had chronicled in a scrapbook as a preteen, but each of the couple's prom plans, such as the limo, hotel reservation and Blair's dress, inexplicably go awry.

In reference to the appearance and internet attention, Eric Spitznagel praised his honesty in Vanity Fair, saying: > Louis C.K. has slowly been evolving from a dependably funny stand-up to the > comedy lovechild of Bill Hicks and George Carlin. " Mark Savage from the BBC felt it "updates the deep house grooves of the Erotica era." Ben Beaumont-Thomas from The Guardian praised its house-influenced sound and compared the song to "Deeper and Deeper" (1992). Jaime Tabberer, from Gay Star News, opined that "once it gets going, disco stomper 'I Don’t Search I Find' is a class of its own", and described it as "a Confessions number that criminally ended up on the cutting room floor." Gay Times Daniel Megarry deemed the second best track on Madame X; "if 'Justify My Love', 'Rescue Me' and the best bits of Confessions On A Dance Floor had a lovechild, it'd be this [...] Absolute heaven." Idolator's Mike Wass wrote that "the fact that something as insane as 'I Don’t Search I Find' even exists is a miracle to begin with.
Consequently her collected works were republished in a standard edition by Jonathan Cape, becoming best sellers in the 1930s and running into many editions. Stella Gibbons's 1932 novel Cold Comfort Farm was a parody of Webb's work,Literary Encyclopedia: Cold Comfort Farm as well as of other "loam and lovechild" writers like Sheila Kaye-Smith and Mary E. The band he is in, Years & Years, formed in 2010, with Alexander joining the band as lead vocalist after member Mikey Goldsworthy heard him singing in the shower and liked his voice. In 2013, the group signed a deal to the French label Kitsuné as a three-piece and released their second single, called "Traps" in September 2013 which achieved support from Radio 1 and Radio 6, as well as many online publications such as The Guardian and The Fader.
Billboards Jason Lipshutz summarized the album as "whimsical, moving, imperfect, exhilarating", adding it was "a towering work that's worth both close analysis on headphones and scream-alongs on stadium speakers". Writing for Vulture, Craig Jenkins stated that "the old Taylor is back on Lover and the best she's been in years" and added that the album is "the most complete full-length she's delivered in years". Time's Dana Schwartz opined that Lover is a "lovechild between Speak Now and 1989, lifting the personal lyricism from the former and the synth-pop production from the latter". Nora Princiotti of The Boston Globe labelled Lover as "satisfying pop" that dips back into many of Swift's "creative wells", with songs that "snatch elements from all over her past", instead of "going for a clear, new sound like she did on her previous two albums"; she added that the result is a "dreamy record that makes good use of its stylistic freedom".
