Casey Combest (born September 15, 1980) is a former American track and field sprinter who saw prominence in the late 1990s and made a comeback in 2008. Casey's story was featured in a recent ESPN Classic film, Lay It on The Line: The Casey Combest Story. He won a silver medal as part of Team USA in the 4x100m relay at the World Junior Championships of 1998 held in Annecy, France, finishing 0.01 behind winners Jamaica, 39.70 & 39.71. . In 1999 he was the best high school sprinter in the nation.

Lay It On The Line are a British melodic hardcore band from London. They were formed in 2012 by Phinius Gage member Mike Scott, his brother Matt and Dave Smith, who was originally guitarist in Not Katies. They wrote their demo in a single evening and recorded it in a single day. Championed by Radio 1 DJ Mike Davies before they had played a show, the band have so far gone on to release four EPs and, featuring a new line-up, their debut album The Black Museum, was released on Disconnect, Disconnect Records on 30 June 2017.

The song, like "Lay It on the Line" from the same album, was written two years before the release of the album. After failing to be noticed as an acoustic track in concert the band decided to make it a rock song and placed it at the end of the concept song, The Twisted Maze which compasses the entire second side of the vinyl. The song has never been performed by the entire band in concert, due to its broad and complex arrangements. The live version from Stages, which is the only official version, was done acoustically.

Triumph is most known for its guitar-driven rock songs and alternative Canadian rock trio vibe with such songs as "Lay It on the Line", "Magic Power", "Fight the Good Fight", "World of Fantasy" and strong cover songs like "Rocky Mountain Way". The band was formed in Toronto, and for much of its existence featured Rik Emmett (guitar, vocals), Mike Levine (bass, keyboards), and Gil Moore (drums, vocals) from 1975 onward. This lineup, which recorded the band's first nine studio albums, lasted until 1988, when Emmett left Triumph to pursue a solo career. He was replaced by Phil "X" Xenedis, and Triumph recorded their last album to date, Edge of Excess, with him before going on indefinite hiatus in 1993.
