Later in the 1880s, the club's members formed and sponsored an ice hockey team, considered the first or one of the first organized ice hockey teams in Toronto. The Toronto Granites ice hockey club would last into the 1900s and produce Canadian amateur champion and Olympic champion teams.
The Boathouse was used by the Navy League of Canada during World War II, serving as the main headquarters for the Sea Cadets until 1993. At that point, the building had fallen into disrepair. The Sea Cadet unit relocated to new quarters on Cardigan Street, and the city announced its intention to demolish the building and level the land in order to create more parking spots for the Guelph Lawn Bowling Club.
Sandercock was a recreational lawn bowler, and was a Drumheller Lawn Bowling Club member. He pursued an interest in fossils as a hobby, and amassed a large collection from the badlands in the Red Deer River valley. Sandercock was married to his second wife, Nancy Spence, in Calgary on April 7, 1939. They honeymooned at the Royal Alexandra Hotel in Winnipeg, while he also attended the silver jubilee celebrations for the CAHA.
Scotland's National Stadium, Hampden Park, is located off Cathcart Road in the heart of Mount Florida. The 51,866 seater stadium is home to the Scottish Football Association, and Scottish Football League Third Division club team Queen's Park. The stadium has also played host to numerous large music events and was the track events stadium for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Mount Florida is also home to numerous lawn bowling clubs, including Glasgow's Indoor Centre.
It contains tennis courts and bowling greens, with another small park area fronting Fulham Palace Road. It is adjacent to Fulham Palace and Fulham Football club. A memorial to members of the International Brigade who volunteered to fight in the Spanish Civil War has been located within the park since 1997. The park has a poolside beach and facilities for basketball, tennis, table tennis, lawn bowling and skating, and hosts a farmers' market.
The remains of Cathkin Park, which was the site of the second Hampden Park. The club moved to the second Hampden Park, 150 yards from the original, because the Cathcart District Railway planned a new line through the site of the ground's western terrace. The club is located on Indian Road, just east of High Park. Prior to 1910, curling took place on Grenadier Pond in High Park. The club organized and built its clubhouse in 1911, making it one of Toronto's oldest curling clubs.
Anita Nivala (born 1961) is a Canadian international lawn bowler. She won a silver medal in the fours with Shirley Fitzpatrick-Wong, Andrea Weigand and Melissa Ranger at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. Two years later she just missed out on a medal after losing the bronze medal play off to New Zealand at the 2004 World Outdoor Bowls Championship - Women's Triples. She plays for the Regina Lawn Bowling Club in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Merewether Bowling Club, Newcastle, New South Wales The Alberta Male Junior Champion for 2007 at Royal Lawn Bowling Club in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada There are various bowls competitions held around the world (see - World Bowls Events). Bowls is one of the "core sports" that must be included at each edition of the Commonwealth Games. With the exception of the 1966 Games, the sport has been included in all Games since their inception in 1930.
The town has a number of facilities, including sporting grounds and a primary school as well as a lawn bowling green and soldier memorial hall. The school celebrated its centenary in 2014. The part-time Ungarra Community Cafe opened in 2015 as a local hub, selling coffee and local fresh produce, and donating some proceeds to local charities and overseas missions. The cafe operates out of the former general store building, which had previously been closed for eight years.
The suburb is served by a primary school, Largs Bay Primary School, and the local high school is Ocean View College Gedville Campus, in nearby Taperoo. There is a hospice on Everard Street and a museum on Fletcher Road. The park features more than of paved pathways meandering around a lake and interspersed with landscaped grounds, formal and informal seating areas, swinging benches and fountains. In addition, the park features a miniature golf course. There is a wide space for lawn bowling and paddleboats can be rented as well.
Fairmount Park offers a golf course, two tennis courts, public barbecues, boat rentals (including pedal boats that are handicap accessible), sailing and fishing on Lake Evans, running, jogging and walking on the Santa Ana River Trail, a number of exercise classes held in the park, and the playground. It also has a well maintained lawn bowling court which first opened in the 1920s, and a Rose Garden with a gazebo which is a popular location for photographs of significant community events.

Makarewa is a small community north of Invercargill (the southernmost city in the South Island of New Zealand). Facilities include a primary school with a roll of about 130 children, meeting rooms for clubs, a playcentre, country club, squash courts, lawn bowling club, and an indoor swimming pool on the school grounds. Makarewa was formerly the junction of two branch line railways, where the Tuatapere Branch diverged from the Kingston Branch. A third line, the Ohai Branch, left the Tuatapere Branch in Thornbury.
The lawn bowling green can still be seen in Deloro today, beside the Deloro sign, though it is no longer used for bowling. Production was in stellite, arsenic, silver and cobalt until 1956 when the stellite division moved to Belleville. Only silver ore continued to be treated there until the plant closed in March 1961. 'Cleanup' and demolition of the mine site followed with tons of arsenite refuse being buried, with the thoughts that it would eliminate the health hazard.

The park offers a wide variety of recreational activities and resources including ponds, open fields, soccer pitches, and baseball diamonds. Located within the park is Harbour View Golf Course & Recreation Complex, which provides visitors with the opportunity to play tennis, lawn bowling, nine holes of golf, or go on pedal boat rides. Winter activities include tobogganing, skating, and cross-country skiing.
On the south side of the Gardens, Alexander Muir Road descends into Blythwood Ravine to serve Lawrence Park Lawn Bowling & Croquet Club. The Toronto Legacy Project and Heritage Toronto erected a plaque in honour of astronomer Helen Sawyer Hogg at the extreme south-west corner of the park. Between 1962 and 1965, Hogg lived in the apartment building at 2875 Yonge Street which is adjacent to the park. Residents have access to shopping and recreational facilities in the adjoining neighbourhood of Woodcroft to the south. This includes shopping, entertainment and services at Westmount Centre. Located within Coronation Park in Woodcroft is the Telus World of Science (formerly called the Edmonton Space and Sciences Centre), a major swimming pool, an ice arena, a small football stadium and a lawn bowling facility. St. Albert Trail provides access, via Groat Road, to destinations on the south side, including the University of Alberta and Whyte Avenue.
The natural birdlife in the area is well appreciated by locals. Learmonth today has a General Store, Post Office, Pub, Cafe, Antique Store, three churches, a shire hall & historic society, a police station, an art hall, a community garden, a lawn bowling club, a creative metalsmith, an aged care facility and a friendly and active community life. Along with a North American Championship Gold. He was member of the 2014 Canadian Commonwealth Games Team that participated in Glasgow Scotland. Pinelands has sporting facilities including tennis and lawn bowling clubs. Other sports include the cricket and hockey clubs situated at The Oval sports grounds situated on St. Stephens Road just off Forest Drive. Pinelands hockey club was founded in 1937 and is currently one of the largest clubs in the country fielding 12 men’s teams and 7 ladies teams in the Western Province Hockey Union league. Both the men’s and ladies’ first teams play in the Grand Challenge league with the men's team having won the title for the first time in 2006.
The community has three guarded gates with a private security department that provides traffic enforcement, patrol service and gate control 24 hours a day. Housing consists of one and two bedroom apartments as well as condominiums. Recreation opportunities include a swimming pool and heated pool, a 9-hole par 3 golf course, a well-equipped weight room, six clubhouses, woodworking and art studios, a sewing room, lawn bowling courts, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard courts, ping-pong tables, pool tables and other amenities. There are also numerous planned activities for the residents, including regular dances with lessons.
Lawn bowling was added in 1945, and a restroom in 1949. After repeated flooding issues and the degradation of the water infrastructure in the park, a new master plan was developed to re-imagine the natural water features, which the plan was completed in 2003. Construction on the revamped park was completed in 2014, with it re-opening in October 2014. The project included conversion of the duck pond into wetlands, the installation of a nature-based playground featuring boulders and logs, and the addition of more paths.
The well-known Lattice Covered Bridge is a wooden covered bridge located at the start of the Eramosa River Trail near the Guelph Lawn Bowling Club in central Guelph, and serves as a pedestrian and cyclist crossing for the Speed River.Waymarking - Guelph's Lattice Covered Bridge It was erected on June 1, 1992 with the help of 400 volunteers, all of whom were members of the Timber Framers Guild.Guelph Trails The bridge was constructed using building designs from the 1800s, and is one of only two lattice-covered bridges in Ontario.
The Cook Islands Round Cup is the top division of the Cook Islands Football Association and plays at the National Stadium among other venues. Bowling is popular, and the Cook Islands have at least six clubs including Ikurangi Women's Bowling Club, Parekura Men's Bowling Club, Parekura Women's Bowling Club, and Rarotonga Men's Bowling Club. It is presided over by the Cook Islands Lawn Bowling Federation, and the Cook Islands Bowls Carnival Tour is organised annually. There are also various badminton, motorcycle, golf, racing, sailing, squash, and canoeing clubs.
The gardens of the Musée Rodin, a modern reinterpretation of an 18th-century formal residential garden Gardens of the Musée Rodin (1755). The Musée Rodin was originally constructed between 1728 and 1731 as a townhouse for Abraham Peyrenc, a wealthy Paris wig-maker. The second owner, the Duchess of Maine, created a long green for lawn-bowling, two covered alleys, and a grove of trees to the left of the entrance. The house and garden were purchased 1755 by Louis Antoine de Gontaut, the Duke of Biron and a Marechal of the royal army.
In 1937 the Municipal Auditorium- Recreation Club was built with funds provided by the Works Progress Administration, the municipal government, and local residents and business owners. It became a center for sports, entertainment, and recreation. The sports activities have ranged from badminton, basketball, boating, lawn bowling, and shuffleboard, to tennis. The auditorium hosts clubs for cards, dancing, games, gardening, and numerous hobbies as well as having become the community meeting place for commercial and educational shows and the venue for local schools and charities to hold events and dances.
There is also an outer non-paved path along the edge of the park. The park is a popular spot for qigong classes, roller hockey, soccer, baseball, golf, the Derek Baker Memorial Boccie Ball Club, and lawn bowls, part of the Woodland Park Lawn Bowling Club, and a monthly midnight bicycle race. The bathhouse was built in 1927 next to an outdoor swimming area with concrete steps leading into the water. A lifeguard station with a boat was built next to this area in 1930 after several drownings in 1929.

Coronation Park is a large park occupying most of the southwest portion of the neighbourhood. The park is anchored by the Telus World of Science, formerly the Edmonton Space and Sciences Centre, at the northeast corner of 111 Avenue and 142 Street. Other attractions within the park include the Queen Elizabeth Planetarium, an ice arena, a small football stadium, a lawn bowling facility and the Peter Hemingway Fitness and Leisure Centre, formerly the Coronation Pool. The neighbourhood is also home to the Woodcroft Branch of the Edmonton Public Library.
The local bowling club boasts of being the highest (elevation above sea level) bowling green in the southern hemisphere, which is in fact not correct as there are several lawn bowling clubs in Johannesburg, South Africa, which is at several hundred metres higher elevation than Guyra. There are many local organisations such as Lions and Rotary. The town also has a strong sporting background with Rugby league, polocrosse, soccer, hockey and cricket teams. Guyra also has bowling greens, tennis courts, a cricket field and a gun and rifle range.
Athletes from the club participate at most road races and triathlons in Cornwall as well as many further afield. Other sporting clubs and organisations include Penzance Hockey Club, with male and female teams, based at the Penzance Astro Park, Penzance Tennis Club at Penlee Park and lawn bowling at Penzance Bowling Club and Penlee (Newlyn) Bowling Club. The Mini Transat 6.50 (now the Transit 6.50) transatlantic yacht race started from Penzance (hosted by Penzance Sailing Club) from its conception in 1977 to the fourth edition of the race in 1983.
The affiliated Swifts Creek Netball Club also has a long and successful history, and wears a blue top with red skirt. Both football and netball clubs also have junior teams. The former Swifts Creek Tennis Club has competed in the Omeo District Tennis Association (ODTA) since the association's inception in 1955, and has won 28 premierships in that time, by far the most successful club in the competition. The lawn bowling club competes in local competition, the former cricket club takes part in regional competitions in irregular seasons, and the golf club is involved in regular tournaments.
In 1908, the local authorities bought the gardens for £10,000 and the park was opened to the public on Empire Day in 1908. There was a clock in front of the old pumphouse, donated by Mrs Flora Sassoon, widow of wealthy business man Sassoon David Sassoon of Ashley Park near Walton-on-Thames, who had relocated to Hove with many other members of the Sassoon family. In 1913 Mrs Sassoon also bought and donated of land which became the croquet lawns (now the lawn bowling facility). She also donated turf, croquet equipment, summer houses, statues and similar decorative items.

The article on Edmonton's First Presbyterian Church mentions a Reverend David George McQueen, who arrived in Edmonton in 1887 and who was minister of the church for 43 years, and is the same person. Immediately to the north east of McQueen, in the neighbourhood of Woodcroft is Coronation Park. Located within Coronation Park is the Telus World of Science (formerly called the Edmonton Space and Sciences Centre), the Peter Hemingway Fitness and Leisure Centre, Coronation Arena (an ice arena), a small football stadium and a lawn bowling facility.

The Port Elizabeth Bowling Green Club, the oldest lawn bowling club in South Africa, has been located in the park since its founding in 1882. The collection of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum, formerly the King George VI Art Gallery, is housed in two buildings that frame the entrance to the park. The St George's Park Swimming Baths complex comprises an Olympic sized swimming pool with a diving area. The complex also contains the Master Harold tearoom which was used as the setting for the apartheid era play "Master Harold"...and the Boys by Athol Fugard.
Members frequently use club facilities for studying and socializing. Each club also has a large lawn, either in front of or behind the mansion, and on days with nice weather, one will often see Princeton students playing various sports, such as lawn bowling on club lawns. The city of Honolulu has proposed an improvement plan for Ala Moana Beach Park and Magic Island. The proposal includes changes to parking, replenishment of the beach sand, renovations to canals, ponds, McCoy Pavilion, the lawn bowling and canoe halau areas, repairs to the canal bridge and park entrances, improved pedestrian access near Piikoi and Queen streets, and the addition of a dog park and playground. The proposed changes to parking and the dog park have been controversial, so the city has amended the proposals and sought additional public comment. As of November, 2018, the city is reviewing public comments.
Lakeview Park is bisected by West Erie Avenue, with the northern section being managed by the Lorain County Metro Parks and the southern by the city. The park was established in 1917 under Mayor Leonard M. Moore as a way of providing more publicly-accessible space on the lakefront. In 1950 he was elected the first regional Director from Canada in the American Mosquito Control Association. Other posts Speechly held were Vice-President of the Manitoba Medical Association, and Secretary of the Pilot Mound Board of Trade. He was President of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew in Canada in 1922, President of the Winnipeg Boy Scouts Association, and a member of the Canadian Club of Winnipeg, the Thistle Curling Club, and the Assiniboine Lawn Bowling Club. Speechly was the first president of the Manitoba Horticultural and Forestry Association in 1911 and helped found the Natural History Society of Manitoba in 1920.
Originally known as the Promontory, it was renamed after civic activist and birder George Hervey Hallett Jr. in 1986. The Hallett Sanctuary was closed to the public from 1934 to May 2016, when it was reopened allowing limited access. The Central Park Conservancy classifies its remaining green space into four types of lawns, labeled alphabetically based on usage and the amount of maintenance needed. There are seven high-priority "A Lawns", collectively covering , that are heavily used: Sheep Meadow, Great Lawn, North Meadow, East Meadow, Conservatory Garden, Heckscher Ballfields, and the Lawn Bowling and Croquet Greens near Sheep Meadow.
Nepean Sportsplex was built in 1972Nepean Museum as a central facility for the former city of Nepean. The site contains an athletics centre (including fitness room) & gym, baseball, soccer and football fields, 4 squash courts, convention space, swimming pools, lawn bowling, 10 curling sheets, and three ice rinks including a 3000-seat arena. In addition to nearby neighbourhoods, the Sportsplex served the community of Barrhaven until the Walter Baker Sports Centre was constructed. In 1997, the 3000-seat arena was named Steve Yzerman Arena in recognition of Steve Yzerman of the Detroit Red Wings, who played with the Nepean Raiders hockey team in his youth.
The Ivanhoe Park (including Manly Oval) cultural landscape consists of two distinct areas; the passive recreation area of Ivanhoe Park Botanic Gardens, and the active sport and recreation facilities of Manly Oval (the "Village Green"), tennis courts and lawn bowling greens. Along the western and northern edge of the park is a former tramway corridor. The gardens rise westwards in the park and contain sandstone outcrops and overhangs, small open lawns, majestic and rare trees, exotic under-plantings, a scout hall (1973), child care centre (1962), and a War Memorial monument and lawn (1953).
