The fruit of the Lapins cultivar is regarded as very high quality. It turns deep red well before it is ready to pick, and unlike some varieties it is sweet while still red. Lapins is a late-season cherry, ripening about 2 weeks later than the Bing cherry. They are noted for having good split resistance.

The Lapins cultivar was developed in Summerland, British Columbia at the Summerland Research Station. It was one of the varieties developed by the agronomist Karlis O. Lapins, a native of Latvia who did pioneering work in the development of self-fertile cherry cultivars. Though the cultivar was not released until 1983, years after his retirement, it was named in his honor.

'Burlat' is an early variety which ripens during the beginning of December, 'Lapins' ripens near the end of December, and 'Sweetheart' finish slightly later.

The creamy light yellow to medium yellow-orange fruit develops a red blush and is ready to harvest late-June through early-July. 'Rainier' cultivars require pollination. Typical pollenizers are the 'Bing', 'Van', 'Lapins', 'Black Tartarian' and 'Lambert' cultivars. 'Rainiers' grow best in USDA Zones 4–9.

The Stella variety was the result of a breeding program at the John Innes Institute in Norwich, England. Return of Sergeant Lapins ( or initially Tas notika ar viņiem) is a 2010 comedy-drama film directed by Latvian director Gatis Šmits. The film's plot is based on the play Tas notika ar viņiem (That Happened to Them) written by Gatis Šmits and produced in The New Theatre of Riga in 2007. Before being released on 26 November, the film was screened at the 15th Busan International Film Festival, which took place in October 2010.

The Washington Square Bar & Grill was a landmark restaurant adjoining Washington Square in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood (Powell at Union streets). Known widely as the Washbag, so named by columnist Herb Caen as a play on words, it was a favorite gathering place for a generation of writers, politicians, musicians, and social elite. The restaurant was opened in 1973 by local Ed Moose, a former dispatcher and reporter for the St. Louis Post- Dispatch, his wife Mary Etta, and partner Sam Dietsch. Moose organized a softball team, the Lapins Sauvages, composed of famous and influential people who were regular restaurant patrons.

The second set of experiments studied bone, muscle, and nerve regeneration, and the possibility of transplanting bones from one person to another. Saint Anne is located about off the coast of Auderville in the Manche department of the Normandy region of north-western France. As of 2010, it has an estimated population of 2,000, compared to an estimated 2,400 who actually live on the island; they have traditional names such as "vaches" (French for cows) and "lapins" (French for rabbits, given after the rabbits found in the island). The town has the old world charm of a French town, with cobbled streets, cottages, restaurants, houses, residents and pubs. Raving Rabbids, known in France as Lapins crétins (Moronic Rabbits) and in Italy simply as Rabbids, is a video game franchise spin-off from the Rayman series. The series focuses on wild rabbit-like creatures known as Rabbids, who like to cause havoc and mischief, speak gibberish and scream whenever they experience adrenaline rushes. The series consists mainly of party video games, though other genres have been explored as well. Though they were initially introduced as antagonists in the Rayman series of games, the popularity of the characters, aided by various viral videos and media appearances, led Raving Rabbids to become its own separate franchise, dropping the Rayman name as of 2009's Rabbids Go Home.

These varieties extend the range of cultivation of cherries to the mild winter areas of southern US. This is a boon to California producers of sweet cherries, as California is the second largest producer of sweet cherries in the US. Native and non-native sweet cherries grow well in Canada's provinces of Ontario and British Columbia where an annual cherry festival has been celebrated for seven consecutive decades in the Okanagan Valley town of Osoyoos. In addition to the Okanagan, other British Columbia cherry growing regions are the Similkameen Valley and Kootenay Valley, all three regions together producing 5.5 million kg annually or 60% of total Canadian output. Sweet cherry varieties in British Columbia include 'Rainier', 'Van', 'Chelan', 'Lapins', 'Sweetheart', 'Skeena', 'Staccato', 'Christalina' and 'Bing'.

Upon arrival, Anger and Cocteau became friends, with the Frenchman giving the young protege his permission to make a movie of his ballet The Young Man and Death, although at the time there were no financial backers for the project. While in Paris he continued producing short films; in 1950 he started filming on Rabbit's Moon, which was also known as La Lune des Lapins and revolved around a clown who was staring up at the moon, in which a rabbit lived, something found within Japanese mythology. Anger produced 20 minutes of footage at the Films du Pantheon Studio in the city before he was rushed out of the studio, leaving the film uncompleted. He stored the footage in the disorganized archives of the Cinémathèque Française, and only collected it again in 1970, when he finally finished and released Rabbit's Moon.
