Act 2 opens on another Sunday afternoon, with Helena and Alison making lunch. In a two-handed scene, Alison says that she decided to marry Jimmy because of her own minor rebellion against her upbringing and her admiration for Jimmy's campaigns against the dereliction of life in postwar England. She describes Jimmy to Helena as a "knight in shining armour". Helena says, firmly, "You've got to fight him".

Twice the Herald calls for a champion to step forward, but gets no response. Elsa kneels and prays that God may send her champion to her. A boat drawn by a swan appears on the river and in it stands a knight in shining armour.

Ash (George Mason) tries warn Justin to stay away from Willow, he fear for her safety and convinces Willow to move into the local caravan park. Claire Crick from Soaplife reported that Justin quickly assumes the role of Willow's "knight in shining armour".

In 2013, Hanson performed the introduction to a version of "Knight in Shining Armour" by Dougal & Gammer released as part of the compilation Clubland X-Treme Hardcore 9. In 2013, Hanson, along with Game Grumps co-host and Ninja Sex Party singer- songwriter Dan Avidan and instrumentalist Brian Wecht, formed the band Starbomb. They released their first album, named Starbomb in December 2013, which went on to become No. 1 on the Billboard Comedy Charts. Starbomb went on to release their second album one year later December 2014, titled Player Select.

Up until this time, he had not thought seriously about a career in entertainment, as he had aspirations of becoming a veterinary surgeon. The knight-errant stock character became the trope of the "knight in shining armour" in depiction of the Middle Ages in popular culture, and the term came to be used also outside of medieval drama, as in The Dark Knight as a title of Batman. In the epic fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, there is a class of knights referred to as Hedge Knights. A Hedge Knight is a wandering knight without a master, and many are quite poor. Hedge knights travel the length and breadth of Westeros looking for gainful employment, and their name comes from the propensity to sleep out in the open air or in forests when they cannot afford lodging.

A lai is a lyrical, narrative written in octosyllabic couplets that often deals with tales of adventure and romance. Lais were mainly composed in France and Germany, during the 13th and 14th centuries. Marie's lays despite the fairy tale atmosphere all feature ordinary humans, except for Lanval which features an immortal "fairy mistress" from the Otherworld (Avalon) and able to confer everlasting life on her lover. Lanval is rescued from Arthur's judgment by his mistress, which reverses the traditional gender roles of the knight in shining armour and the damsel in distress—at the conclusion, Lanval leaps onto the back of his mistress's horse and they ride off to an unknown destination.

Becca and Jake have experienced tension in their relationship; most recently, after Jake found out she had been visiting ex- student Justin Burton (Chris Fountain), who had an unrequited crush on her, in prison and most notably when Jake had an affair with Lisa Hunter (Gemma Atkinson) that resulted in him passing on an STD. Although the affair ended when Jake realised he was madly in love with Becca, the guilt proved too much and his first marriage proposal became a confession. The two broke up but Jake was determined to win Becca back and did so with a knight in shining armour style proposal in the village. The two married although Becca still feared she was making a mistake up until she said 'I do'.

Axel often says his music is about a Knight in shining armour going on various adventures. Each album continues one new quest after the other, and songs are told as separate stories. Axel's main influence in guitar work has been Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple. SPV Records released a live DVD on 25 February 2008, titled Live over Europe, which includes the full performance from the Rock Hard Festival in 2007, and comes with a bonus disc which includes live footage from Pell's own archive. In 2012 a new Axel Rudi Pell live concert CD/DVD Live on Fire was released. In 2013, ex-Rainbow drummer Bobby Rondinelli joined the band, replacing Mike Terrana after his initial departure in 2013.

After breaking down reading a eulogy at Young's funeral, Kent ends up in a fight with Smith, where he cruelly announces to the relief that Young was pregnant. Smith is left devastated until Dunbar tells him that Young was raped, and his suspicions are proved true when Young's father comes to see him; when he makes a point of saying Young called Smith her knight in shining armour, Kent eavesdrops and tells the relief she said it about him. Realising Dunbar's allegations must be true, Smith takes his suspicions to MIT, but it proves to be a fruitless endeavour. Kent's murder of Young made him look like the prime suspect for three other sniper deaths before Young was killed, but when Kent is shot at while escorting a prisoner back to the station, it is revealed he was supplying names to a former Navy colleague, Jason Hardy.

[...] Now he sees she's poodling after Max and that he isn't treating her right." However, he thought that Kirsty may not want to reunite with Carl because "he's not the type of guy who's just going to change overnight" and he is probably not "the knight in shining armour" he thinks he is. Coonan went on to say that Carl would treat Kirsty "like a goddess" but would probably have a problem with her independence, and he would want to provide for her, being "old-fashioned and a bit misguided", and they would have a "fiery" relationship because they are both "strong-willed".
