In the April 9, 2007, edition of TV Guide, Langham described his character as a "pain in the ass" who "kisses up" to his superiors. Langham said Hodges considers himself superior to the other laboratory technicians and wants to be like Gil Grissom. While Grissom was on a sabbatical during the seventh season, Hodges used an alias to sign up for an online class that Grissom was teaching. Grissom, however, appears to find Hodges annoying and often tells Hodges to report his findings to other CSIs or asks him to leave his office.

They fight sometimes, but always make up. CeCe helps Georgia take care of Flynn, and some times kisses up to her, such as in season one when she wanted a cell phone, and in season two when she wanted to go down to the movie studio her mom worked at and meet Taylor Lautner. In season three, CeCe desperately wanted her mom to find a boyfriend, so she and Rocky set her up with a firefighter named Jeremy Hunter. When Georgia and Jeremy become engaged, Jeremy's son, Logan (Leo Howard) and CeCe agreed to put aside their differences so their parents could be happy.

Fed up with life as an extra who is always being cut out of scenes just as he manages to get his face on camera, Andy shamelessly kisses up to celebrities and producers in an effort to try to get screen time or a line of dialogue. Although often successful in these endeavours, circumstances always arise that prevent Andy from advancing his career. Reasons include celebrities confessing that they have no real power to help, or (more often) Andy inadvertently offending the star which results in his immediate dismissal from the set. In the conclusion of season one, Andy delivers a sitcom script he has written to Patrick Stewart, who, in turn, passes it along to the BBC through his production company.

He then reveals to Kaiji that he detests the life he leads, and claims to not know true friendship or love, as everyone he meets kisses up to him due to the influence of his father. As a result, he has grown skeptical, is blind to people's hearts, has tasted loneliness and emptiness, and after being betrayed by everyone he once considered a friend, he can no longer believe in the goodness and beauty of people, and in fact believes human beings are naturally detestable and likely to betray others. Eventually, under the name "Kazuya Produce," he began to lure major debtors and sometimes classmates into gambling, with a prize of 10 million yen for the winner and the punishment of death for the loser, and he finds no issue in wasting money for his schemes, instead wanting to be an author. Later, as a means of finding out if true bonds actually exist, he sets up a series of deadly games such as the Salvation Game that are designed to test the bonds between people, which influence the ideas for his novels.
