Kipping expanded on those ideas, and threw in some useful information for alien hunters as well.

"We saw little deviations and wobbles in the light curve that caught our attention," Kipping said.

For instance, chemical disequilibria has been seen on Mars, where methane has been detected, according to Kipping.

Nonetheless, Dr Teachey and Dr Kipping found one promising-looking planet, with the unromantic name of Kepler-1625b.

But as Teaching and Kipping admit, the data is still incomplete, and something unknown may be influencing the observations.

"We realized that because lasers are narrow directed beams, it was quite feasible to produce artificial transits," Kipping said.

The laser system Kipping is proposing used the same amount of energy as 70 American homes in a year.

Teachey and Kipping are submitting proposals for more time on Hubble to observe this planet and its moon during another transit.

If they are able to observe a full transit, representative of a "clean moonlike event, then I think we're done," Kipping said.

Kipping says astronomers could try to observe a transiting Proxima b in the infrared — a wavelength of light outside of the visible spectrum.

Kipping and Teachey relied on the "transit" method already used by researchers to discover nearly 4,000 planets outside our solar system, called exoplanets.

That second transit could be a Neptune-sized exomoon orbiting at a distance of about 40 times the planet's radius, Kipping and Teachey thought.

What they found: The initial data suggested that an exomoon may be orbiting Kepler-1625b, which Teachey and Kipping previously hypothesized in a 2017 study.

Although the conversations on hiding Earth are preliminary, it's possible that lasers will become more important in space technology, such as propelling spacecrafts, Kipping said.

Teachey and his co-discoverer David Kipping have been on the search for exomoons for the last seven years, poring over data collected by Kepler.

The key to Kipping and Teachey's thinking lies in the way humans have identified most planets around other stars, a process called the transit method.

By sending laser beams that are the inverse of certain wavelengths, humanity could conceivably edit out the life-generated "biosignatures" in Earth's atmosphere, Kipping said.

Kipping and his team at Columbia University have been looking for transiting exoplanets in front of Proxima Centauri and may have answers for us soon.

"It's a lot of fun talking about life and speculating about the beaches and things on these planets, but it's worth stepping back," says Kipping.

Kipping predicts that this form of propulsion could alter orbits of binary black holes slightly, and increase the speed at which these huge objects merge.

As Kipping explains, one popular theory defines an alien megastructure as something built by advanced, alien civilizations to harvest the energy produced by their parent stars.

Realistically, if our scientists are searching for alien civilizations by looking for light dips, there's a chance aliens are using similar methods to find us, Kipping said.

Dr Kipping speculates that one explanation for the moon's giant size might be that the dying star is heating the moon's atmosphere, causing it to expand and increasing the moon's effective diameter.

But a paper published by Alex Teachey and David Kipping in Science Advances suggests that data it has already collected may confirm another science-fiction assumption—that alien planets have alien moons.

If shot at just the right angle, these "boomerang photons," as Kipping calls them, would theoretically spit back at the spacecraft with added energy leeched off the black hole or neutron star.

"[T]he planet appears to transit one and a quarter hours too early, that's indicative of something gravitationally tugging on the planet," Kipping said of the anomalies observed, and his interpretation of them.

The Hunt for Exomoons with Kepler (HEK) is a project whose aim is to search for exomoons, natural satellites of exoplanets, using data collected by the Kepler space telescope. Founded by British exomoonologist David Kipping and affiliated with the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, HEK submitted its first paper on June 30, 2011. HEK has since submitted five more papers, finding some evidence for an exomoon around a planet orbiting Kepler-1625b in July 2017.

In 2007, physicists A. Simon, K. Szatmáry, and Gy. M. Szabó published a research note titled 'Determination of the size, mass, and density of “exomoons” from photometric transit timing variations'. In 2009, University College London-based astronomer David Kipping published a paper outlining how by combining multiple observations of variations in the time of mid-transit (TTV, caused by the planet leading or trailing the planet–moon system's barycenter when the pair are oriented roughly perpendicular to the line of sight) with variations of the transit duration (TDV, caused by the planet moving along the direction path of transit relative to the planet–moon system's barycenter when the moon–planet axis lies roughly along the line of sight) a unique exomoon signature is produced. Furthermore, the work demonstrated how both the mass of the exomoon and its orbital distance from the planet could be determined using the two effects. In a later study, Kipping concluded that habitable zone exomoons could be detected by the Kepler Space Telescope using the TTV and TDV effects.

Herwig Kipping was born in Meyhen, a hamlet of fewer than 200 people located between Weimar and Leipzig, and some 9 km (4 miles) to the south of Naumburg. His father was a farmer and (since the area was by now part of the Soviet occupation zone in what remained of Germany) became the president of the local Agricultural Production Cooperative shortly after the boy was born. By the time he attended school the Soviet occupation zone had become the German Democratic Republic, a one-party state sponsored by, and in key respects politically modeled on the Soviet Union. Kipping left school in 1964 and started an apprenticeship as a fitter at the vast VEB "Walter Ulbricht" Leuna chemical plant on the south side of Halle. At the start of her studies at the Dresden University of Technology, Kipping was heavily involved with the so- called Protestbüro (bureau of protest). The inaugural conference in Gothenburg in August 1996 attracted over 230 participants by which time the initial paid up membership of the new EBHA was 214 members. First nominations and elections for council added Franco Amatori (Bocconi University) , Albert Carreras (Pompeu Fabra University), Wilfried Feldenkirchen, Ritta Hjerppe (Helsinki School of Economics), and Matthias Kipping to the first formally elected council. Tony Slaven was adopted as first President of EBHA with Geoff Jones as the first Secretary/Treasurer. It was decided in 1998 to hold an annual conference beginning with that held at Terni.

In February 2020, the FDP's Thomas Kemmerich was elected Minister-President with the support of AfD and the CDU, but immediately resigned due to widespread outrage. After a protracted government crisis, Ramelow was re-elected for a second term to lead a minority government. 'The Left (, stylised as '), also commonly referred to as the Left Party (, ), is a democratic socialist political party in Germany. The party was founded in 2007 as the result of the merger of the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS) and Labour and Social Justice – The Electoral Alternative (WASG). Denmark began his independent academic research career in 1980 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where his laboratory's early work focused on investigation of the Nazarov cyclization reaction and Claisen rearrangement. In 1931, Hyde became the first organic chemist to accept a position at Corning Glass Works (now Corning Incorporated). He was hired to investigate the new plastics that challenged the glass industry. Hyde had studied Kipping and Ladenburg’s work in the field of organic silicon chemistry and sought to find a flexible, high temperature binder for the glass fibers that would allow for an increase in service temperature for insulating materials. He followed Kipping’s procedure for creating organic silicon compounds by using Grignard’s magnesium-containing reagent and eventually synthesized a fluid that hardened to a rubbery mass.

The conference gave its support to the proposals and to the existing planning group to act as a steering committee to bring the European Business History Association into being. He was born in Salford, Lancashire, England, the son of James Kipping, a Bank of England official, and Julia Du Val, a daughter of painter Charles Allen Du Val. He was educated at Manchester Grammar School before enrolling in 1879 at Owens College (now Manchester University) for an external degree from the University of London. After working for the local gas company for a short time he went in 1886 to Germany to work under William Henry Perkin, Jr. in the laboratories of Adolf von Baeyer at Munich University. Back in England, he took a position as demonstrator for Perkin, who had been appointed professor at Heriot-Watt College, Edinburgh.

Between shoots, Gesner added to his physical performance skills by picking up tricks from a local circus troupe, such as tightrope walking, inverted rope-climbing, kicking/flipping up from the ground (known as "kipping"), and stunt flips. Although listed on the fall lineup for a third season, the well-rated series ended its run after the second season due to contract disputes between the production company and series distributors. Since the conclusion of Sinbad in 1998, Gesner has appeared on television series such as Friends and All My Children. He played the role of David Patrick in the 2005 movie The Ringer, a film about the Special Olympics.

As a result of his address, the French took the initiative to try to make this a reality. They convened a meeting of delegates from six of the western European states to form an international consultative committee (CCIF), to decide on the technical standards required as different countries used different telephone systems. Sir Norman Kipping spent five years under Gill as a transmission engineer developing the transcontinental telephone system, but ultimately, the European states were keen to preserve their national sovereignty so Gill's ideas weren't fruitful for many years. From 1919 until 1928 he was the European chief engineer of International Western Electric, a division of the Western Electric Company.

After a difficult financial struggle, Bullock matriculated at University College, Nottingham and, after studying chemistry under Kipping, graduated there with a BSc in 1906. In 1911 Bullock married his first wife, Elsa Gye, who was a dedicated suffragette. Bullock studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh and in 1912 graduated there MBChB. In 1913 he received his Doctor of Medicine qualification from the University, and won a gold medal for his medical thesis. He also won the Ellis Prize in Physiology for his essay, “The chemistry of nerve degeneration.” Still in 1913 he joined the staff of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, which at that time was under the direction of Ernest Francis Bashford.

Cissy Fitzgerald (born Mary Kate Kipping; The Green Book Magazine Volume 9; page 521 1 February 1873 – 10 May 1941) was an English-American vaudeville actress, dancer, and singer who appeared in numerous silent and sound films. Fitzgerald acted in a popular Gaiety Girl show beginning in 1894 and was filmed in the role for an Edison short during the early film era in 1896 in a self-titled short film shot by Thomas Edison's film company. She did not appear in films again until 1914 where she signed with the VitagraphPictorial History of the Silent Screen by Daniel Blum c. 1953 company and was quite popular in feature films and her own series of Cissy short films.

In 1973, Lambert was a Guggenheim FellowJohn Simon Guggeneheim Memorial Foundation at the Research Laboratory of the British Museum, and, in 1976, he received the National Fresenius Award. In 1989, he received the Fryxell Award from the Society for American Archaeology in recognition of his chemical contributions to archaeology. He was the 1998 recipient of the Frederic Stanley Kipping Award in Silicon Chemistry of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and in 2012 was named a Fellow of the American Chemical Society. He received the Carol and Harry Mosher Award of the Santa Clara Valley Section of the ACS in 2003 and the Sidney M. Edelstein Award for Outstanding Achievement in the History of Chemistry by the ACS in 2004.

He addressed the tradeoff between stiffness and flexibility to provide reinforcement without distorting the intended shape of the sail. He emphasized the need for the bolt rope not to affect the degree of slack on the leech (trailing edge) of a sail. He further emphasized that the rope must retain its original twist, as it is sewn in place, to avoid distorting the edge of the sail.

Everything changed in November 1989 when the Berlin Wall was breached by protestors and it became apparent that the fraternal Soviet forces had received no orders to suppress protest, nor to restrain people crossing the hitherto lethal border dividing Berlin. This opened the way to an end for one party dictatorship and indeed, within a year, German reunification. A few years later Kipping would describe himself as a child of "Die Wende" (the changes triggered in November 1989), while insisting that the many people who encountered the "experience of no longer being needed" when the German Democratic Republic collapsed also deserved sympathy. It was something he himself knew, in a different context, from the years when his film scripts were routinely rejected by the only film company in town.

For composition, the title of Grandmaster for chess composition was established in 1959, with André Cheron, Arnoldo Ellerman, Alexander Gerbstmann, Jan Hartong, and Cyril Kipping being the first honorary recipients.
