Kinfolks Ridge is an unincorporated community in Pemiscot County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. Kinfolks Ridge was so named for the fact a large share of the early settlers in this community were related.

Divine Right's Trip was originally printed in installments in Whole Earth Catalog in 1971. Norman also wrote the short story collection Kinfolks: The Wilgus Stories in 1977. Both the novel and the short stories share an Appalachian background.

After the war, Burns returned to the stage, often playing the bazooka as part of his act. He used it as a prop when telling hillbilly stories and jokes. Norman was one of the founders of the Briarpatch Network in 1974, with Richard Raymond and Michael Phillips. In 1977, his book of short stories Kinfolks, which received Berea College's Weatherford Award, was published by Gnomon Press. In 1979, Norman joined the faculty of the University of Kentucky as an associate professor of English. He served as Director of the English Department's Creative Writing Program from 2000 to 2014.

The novel was originally serialized in The Last Whole Earth Catalog. Kinfolks is a book of short stories concerning young Wilgus Collier and his relationships with his family members. Ancient Creek is a satirical folktale about a rebellion by mountain people against an absurd and oppressive king in a mythical American region.

"Kinfolks" debuted at number 18 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart based on three and a half day of availability after its release to radio, which equals the debut of his previous single, "Downtown's Dead". It was the second best-selling country song the following week, with 13,000 copies sold, in addition to the 2,000 copies sold when it was released for sale late the previous week. It reached No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay on chart dated 29 February 2020. It is also the first country song to top the Country Airplay chart on Leap Day since Garth Brooks' "What She's Doing Now" stayed for the third week in 1992, as well as Hunt's first number one since "Body Like a Back Road" in 2017.

Elijah Malok Aleng (28 November 1937 – 30 October 2014, Nairobi, Kenya) was a South Sudanese public servant, general, and politician, from Bor in Jonglei State. He was born on 28 November 1937 at Thianwong village when his family was living among the Pen people in Angakuei in Baidit, about 20 miles northeast of Bor town. His family, which is originally from Awulian in Wangulei, Twic East County, migrated back to be with fellow Awulian kinfolks. He attended Malek Primary School (1950–1953), and then Juba Intermediate School and Juba Commercial Senior Secondary School, graduating He then attended Free University of the Congo, in the present Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and later got a scholarship to study in Fribourg Catholic University, Switzerland, from which he obtained a master's degree in Economics in 1972.
