Biduanita Negara Datuk Sharifah Aini binti Syed Jaafar (2 July 1953 – 5 July 2014), better known by her stage name Sharifah Aini, was a Singaporean–Malaysian singer, known as Biduanita Negara or "National Songstress" after the late Salmah Ismail (Saloma). She won first place in the Radio Television Singapore (RTS) talentime contest "Bintang RTS" competition in 1968, singing "Tiga Malam". She was famously known as Kak Pah. In Malaysia, she was one of the most enduring artistes to have recorded with the EMI Malaysia.

The film features Vladimir Vysotsky as the protagonist Abram Petrovich Gannibal, the North African godson of Peter the Great. Also starring in the film are Aleksei Petrenko as Czar Peter, and Irina Mazurkevich as Natasha Rtishcheva. It is an adaptation of the book The Moor of Peter the Great by Gannibal's great-grandson Alexander Pushkin, written in 1827 and published in 1837.

The Buckfever Underground is a South African folk/punk/art band formed in 1997 by Toast Coetzer and Gil Hockman. They have English as well as Afrikaans songs. Their single "Die Volk (is in die kak)" from the 1998 debut album Jou medemens is dood was featured in the top 100 best protest songs ever in a Dutch survey. To protest against the Dogra authorities' hefty taxation, Kashmiri shawl weavers went on strike and gathered to protest outside the residence of Raj Kak Dhar, who was the Kashmiri Pandit official in charge of the Shawl Department. The Governor, Kripa Ram, elected to forcefully quell the uprising. Under the leadership of Colonel Bijoy Singh, the Dogra troops fired at the weavers who were protesting without arms, and as a result 28 of the protesters were killed and 100 injured. This incident was followed by the migration of 4000 weavers from the Valley to the Punjab.

The name Banteay Kdei originates from an earlier name, Kuti, which is mentioned in the Sdok Kak Thom. When this part of the country was ceded to the British, in 1801, Mainpuri town became the headquarters of the extensive district of Etawah, which was in 1856 reduced by the formation of Etah and Mainpuri into separate collectorates. The rulers of the states were advised to join one of the two dominions by executing an Instrument of Accession. An inscription from the Sdok Kak Thom temple recounts that at Mahendraparvata, Jayavarman II took part in a ritual by the Brahman Hiranyadama, and his chief priest Lord Sivakaivalya, known as devaraja () which placed him as a chakravartin, Lord of the Universe. The foundation of Hariharalaya near present-day Roluos was the first settlement in what would later become the empire of Angkor. Despite this key role in Khmer history, few firm facts survive about Jayavarman. Sdok Kok Thom (, Sadok Kok Thom, ; ), or Sdok Kak Thom, is an 11th-century Khmer temple in present-day Thailand, located about northeast of the Thai border town of Aranyaprathet. The temple was dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Constructed by a prominent priestly family, Sdok Kok Thom is best known as the original site of one of the most illuminating inscriptions left behind by the Khmer Empire, which ruled much of Southeast Asia from the end of the 9th century to the 15th century. Built of red sandstone and laterite, the temple is a prime example of a provincial seat of worship during the empire's golden age.

Raja Sakhi Delair Khan joined the Indian National Army within which he was promoted to the rank of General. He resigned from his post and joined the All-India Muslim League on June 6, 1946. Khan visited the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Ram Chandra Kak and the last ruling Maharrajah, Maharaja Hari Singh, to better understand their views on whether Jammu and Kashmir should join with Pakistan as laid out in the British proposal for post-Independence India and Pakistan.

Thanks to a cousin, he sneaked into the mainstream Kannada film industry and worked in the Kannada super star Vishnuvardhan's bilingual film called Police Dada; where he was the 8th assistant to the Hindi film directors Ramsay brothers. But after a schedule of filming, Ramchandra PN found out that commercial mainstream cinema was not his cup of tea. He came to Mumbai in 1991 and got himself involved in the Television serial Surabhi a cultural show that was experimenting with the TV magazine format, produced by anchor Siddharth Kak.

That night, an injured intruder enters Tara's house, who turns out to be her Uncle Rostam, a Pesh Murga resistance fighter. The following morning, Tara's father, Kak Soran, suddenly returns with Tara's brother, Ashti, and her grandmother from Baghdad.

Dengue Fever first performed covers of original Cambodian rock songs discovered by the Holtzman brothers, but have since released several albums of original material inspired by the genre. Meanwhile, the band Cambodian Space Project was formed in 2009 in Cambodia by singer Kak Channthy and Australian enthusiast Julien Poulson; that band released five albums of covers of 1960s–1970s Cambodian rock songs and original songs inspired by the genre. Cambodian Space Project disbanded in March 2018 when Channthy was killed in a car accident. During the end of British colonial rule in India, Shaukat Ali joined the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference as its general secretary, after resigning from the civil services as a Tehsildar in 1946, at the request of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. Agha Shaukat Ali played an important role in the changing politics of Kashmir from 1946–48. He became the General Secretary of Muslim Conference and was instrumental in promoting the policies of Jinnah in Kashmir. Most notably, Shaukat Ali held a public gathering in defiance of prevailing prohibitions at that time, and was imprisoned along with Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas on the orders of the then Prime Minister Ram Chandra Kak, for political reasons from 1947–1948.

She twice recorded duets with iconic Australian poet laureate Paul Kelly on the songs "The Boat" - a song dealing with the issue of asylum seekers and included on 2013's Key of Sea compilation, in 2017 she recorded again with Kelly a re-working of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra's classic "Summer Wine". Channthy was fond of French chanson and collaborated with Bad Seed Mick Harvey on the Serge Gainsbourg track "Contact", as well as, covering and regularly performing France Gall's classic "Laisse Tomber Les Filles" in her live set. Kak Channthy and her then husband Julien Poulson were the subject of a BBC Storyville documentary Rise of a Pop Diva, a program also released to cinema as the documentary The Cambodian Space Project. She also had several side-projects including Australian Khmer hip hop group Astronomy Class with whom she recorded and released the album "Mekong Delta Sunrise" and in 2016 she formed all Khmer band "Channthy Cha-Cha" in which she experimented with romantic Khmer ballads from artists such as Sinn Sisamouth and Pen Ran, adding a funk twist.

However, others have questioned the validity of such claims, and believe it to be a revisionist attempt to re- cast history as traditional Kashmiri Hindu historians, such as Kalhana, Jonaraja and Shuk Bhatt make no mention of the existence of any temple at the site of the structure. The counterclaim stemming from the fact that a Hindu religious site also exists adjacent to the shrine and the historians have suggested that the two sites have in fact always been adjacent to one another, their proximity being representative of communal tolerance. Kashmiri Hindus have also historically held the Khanqah in high reverence. Archaeologist R.C. Kak in Ancient Monuments of Kashmir and historian P. N. K. Bamzai in Culture and Political History of Kashmir while writing about the Khanqah, do not altogether mention anything about the possibility of the existence of a temple where the present structure stands. Historian Ashiq Husain Bhat further argues that re-purposing of Hindu shrines into Muslim ones wouldn’t have been unusual, given that the overwhelming majority of Kashmiris converted to Islam, and a similar conversion of the site into a church would occur were Kashmiris to convert en masse to Christianity.

The concept of Devaraja enabled Khmer kings to embark on grand-scale project, such as to build Angkor Wat. In ancient Cambodia, devarāja is recognized as the state's institutionalized religion. Vasily Pashkevich (1742–1797), a Russian composer was famous for his comic opera The Miser. Its roles are: Scriagin, Liubima’s guardian; Liubima, his niece; Milovid, her beloved; Marfa, the servant girl that Scriagin is in love with; Prolaz, Milovid’s manservant who is in Scriagin’s service. Accordingly the speech and the names of the characters of Molière's comedy were turned into Russian as well as the music that combines some features of European form with typically Russian melodies. Another his opera Fevey was written to the libretto by Catherine II. Other operas are: The Carriage Accident (Neschastye ot karety, 1779 Saint Petersburg, Karl Kniper Theatre, St Petersburg Bazaar (Sankt Peterburgskiy Gostinyi Dvor, 1782 Saint Petersburg), Kniper Theatre, The Burden Is Not Heavy if It Is Yours (Svoya nosha ne tyanet, 1794), The Early Reign of Oleg (Nachal'noye upravleniye Olega, libretto by Catherine II, 1790 Saint Petersburg)– together with Giuseppe Sarti and C. The story takes place in Sekinchan, Sabak Bernam in 1993, revolving around the first love of a 10-year-old Orked when a 12-year- old boy, Mukhsin, comes with his older brother and aunt to spend the school holidays in her village. Around this relatively simple plotline of a blossoming young romance between the film's two young protagonists, are interweaved scenes of Malaysian village life and the dynamics of different types of families. Most of the family scenes revolve around Orked, her parents Mak Inom and Pak Atan, and the family's close maid Kak Yam who is almost like a family member. The other families which are given attention in the movie are Mukhsin's family (with his elder brother who has lost his way in life and is trying desperately to find their mother who abandoned them at a young age, and their Aunty who is trying to take care of the two boys as though they were her own), and Orked's neighbours (with the young daughter and pregnant mother who are critical of the western ways of Orked's family, while they themselves are hurt by the father who wants to abandon them to take on a second wife).

In 1995, still as a student, he gave rise to the project Bals Band (1995) that became an integral part of the popular TV show “Kak Shte Gi Stignem” with Todor Kolev for two years. In 1998 Miroslav Ivanov won the grand prize of the contest Blues Brothers 2000, organized by the French Cultural Center as part of the official promotion of the movie. In the same year Miroslav Ivanov also founded the well-known Bulgarian funky-jazz band Infinity – where he took on the role of guitarist and composer and released two albums – Happy Man Blues and Kolkoto-Tolkova (As Good as it Gets). Infinity appeared as a regular act at the biggest jazz festivals in Bulgaria and was a special guest at the prestigious Leipzig Book Fair in 1999. In 2001 Miroslav founded the pop-rock SAFO bаnd and released with the formation his next album Kolelo Ot Sunishta (A Wheel of Dreams). The band was awarded the prestigious prize “Discovery of the Year” by BG Radio in 2003 and “Band the Year” in 2004. The single Pustinna Zemya (Desert Land) topped the chart “Song of the Year” on the Bulgarian National Radio. During this period SAFO performed at the biggest and most prestigious concerts and festivals in Bulgaria.
