In addition, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979 solidified the re- invigoration of Cold War hostilities and the conclusive end of the détente period.

The series and Nairne's accompanying book acts as a follow on to the Robert Hughes series The Shock of the New and provides a critical survey of contemporary visual arts from America and Europe through the 1980s. In 1988, Nairne was appointed as the director of the Visual Arts Department at the Arts Council. In this capacity, Nairne oversaw the re-invigoration of the British Art Show, the establishing of the Institute of International Visual Arts (InIVA) as a permanent organisation to promote culturally diverse projects, the furtherance of Percent for Art and the creation of the Curating Contemporary Art Course at the Royal College of Art. In 1996, Nairne co-edited with Reesa Greenberg and Bruce W. Ferguson the book Thinking about Exhibitions (1996), a review of international practice in contemporary art exhibitions.

The LGV Sud-Est (French: Ligne à Grande Vitesse Sud-Est; English: Southeast high-speed line is a French high-speed rail line which links Paris's and Lyon's suburbs. It was France's first high-speed rail line. The inauguration of the first section between Saint-Florentin and Sathonay-Camp by President François Mitterrand on 22 September 1981 marked the beginning of the re- invigoration of French passenger rail service. The Philippine Executive Commission (PEC) was established on January 3, 1942 with Jorge B. Vargas as its first Chairman. The PEC was created as the provisional caretaker government of the City of Greater Manila and eventually of the whole Philippines during the Japanese occupation of the country during World War II. The PEC formally abolished all political parties on December 8, 1942, by virtue of Proclamation No. 109 creating the Kapisanan sa Paglilingkod sa Bagong Pilipinas (Association for Service to the New Philippines) or better known as the KALIBAPI. The KALIBAPI was established to aim at the mental education, moral regeneration, physical invigoration, and economic rehabilitation of the Philippines under the guidance of the Japanese Military Administration.

The assumption of new values or the rebellion against accepted notions of what is aesthetically superior need not occur concurrently with a complete abandonment of the pursuit of what is aesthetically appealing. Indeed, the reverse is often true, that the revision of what is popularly conceived of as being aesthetically appealing allows for a re-invigoration of aesthetic sensibility, and a new appreciation for the standards of art itself. Renovated bar and recording studio (previously Catholic and Evangelical Churches) Errekaleor Bizirik is made up of a variety of projects and services offered by its members such as a bakery, orchards, a chicken coop, a library, nursery, print shop, an Evangelical Church which has been converted into a recording studio, classrooms for teaching the Basque language and other subjects, a fronton (a traditional Basque sports court for playing pelota), a cinema of 115 seats, a free shop, an organic farm of 2 hectares, playgrounds for children, a bar and a 'gaztetxe' social centre. In development are projects such as restoration of the riverfront, self-production of gourmet mushrooms, a radio, a herbal garden and an independent energy grid made up of solar panels, turbines and bicycle generators. The entire project is based on autogestion (self-management or autonomy), consensus based decision making, feminism, anti-capitalism, and Basque cultural re-invigoration. In this new system of organization, the 192 apartments are organized into self-sufficient but interconnected blocks (Basque: 'bloques').

Adhikari, was a democratic persona, so he was of the opinion that all leaders and cadres who were democratically elected in public positions such as municipal councils, should continue their jobs for maintaining continued contacts with their constituencies, instead of playing an opposition role and going to jail.
