The result was the very successful Knowledge and Value that influenced many other anthologies of its type and provided an ongoing funding source for department activities and needs. Like his written work, Elmer's teaching was characterized by its clarity. He was an extremely influential teacher and the recipient of a college-wide Excellence in Teaching Award.

Antonio Tabucchi (; 24 September 1943 – 25 March 2012) was an Italian writer and academic who taught Portuguese language and literature at the University of Siena, Italy. Deeply in love with Portugal, he was an expert, critic and translator of the works of Fernando Pessoa from whom he drew the conceptions of saudade, of fiction and of the heteronyms. Tabucchi was first introduced to Pessoa's works in the 1960s when attending the Sorbonne. He was so charmed that when he returned to Italy, he took an introductory course in Portuguese for a better comprehension of the poet.

M Gymkhana was established in Southern California in 2012, with its first event held in October of that year held at the Bob Hope Airport (Burbank, CA) also known as the Burbank/Pasadena/Glendale Airport. Following the same guidelines/rules established by JAGE, M Gymkhana runs both moto gymkhana timed competitions, as well as "experience day" events as an introductory course for those who are new to the sport of motorcycle gymkhana.

Born in 1964, Eva Noer Kondrup enjoyed listening to music and playing folk music as a child but it was first when she was 18 that she became seriously interested in classical music. In 1986, The Mechanical Universe was used as part of a summer program for gifted children, to overall success. The dance curriculum focuses not only on training the student who wishes to transfer to a four-year institution in dance or achieve an associate degree but also on providing opportunities for students in other fields to learn about dance. There are numerous opportunities for students of all levels and interests to perform by enrolling in the dance rehearsal and performance class or participating in one of the performing groups. The curriculum includes technique courses in ballet, modern dance, jazz dance, tap, social dance, Middle Eastern and African dance; an introductory course in various dance forms; Pilates and dance conditioning courses; and academic courses in choreography, music for dance and dance history. Dunn was co-author with V A Mundella, the man he appointed as Head of the Department of Physics and Electrical Engineering at the North London Institute and who later became Dunn's son-in- law, of a much-needed science textbook: General Elementary Science. George Kittredge born in 1860, was nearly 80 years old when the first volumes of Kittredge Shakespeare were published in 1939. The original series included text and analysis of sixteen of Shakespeare's Plays.Preface to the New Kittredge Shakespeare, by Irving Ribner, published in each volume of the Second Series, 1966 to 1069 Kittredge, who had taught Harvard undergraduates an introductory course on Shakespeare called English 2, had written very little on the subject, other than an address in 1916 at the Sanders Theater, before publishing his Complete Works in 1936 (see below) and the individual play series, starting in 1939.Prologue, by Arthur Colby Sprague, to Sixteen Plays of Shakespeare, edited by George Lyman Kittredge, (c) 1946 The original series included an introduction to each play, text of the play, copious literary notes following the text, textual notes, and a glossary.

On July 19, 1931, Underhill and park ranger Fritiof Fryxell completed the "remarkable" first ascent of the North Ridge of the Grand Teton, which is rated IV, 5.7 in the Yosemite Decimal System. pages 147 - 152 Departing Wyoming, Underhill went on to California at the invitation of Sierra Club leader Francis P. Farquhar, for the purpose of teaching the most advanced techniques of roped climbing and belaying developed in the Alps. Underhill began by instructing a group of Sierra Club members in those techniques in the Minarets, practicing on the slopes of Mount Ritter and Banner Peak.Farquhar, Francis P., History of the Sierra Nevada (University of California Press, Berkeley, 1965) After this introductory course, an advanced group led by Underhill and including Norman Clyde, Jules Eichorn, Lewis Clark, Bestor Robinson and Glen Dawson traveled south to the Palisades, the most rugged and alpine part of the Sierra Nevada.

Out of this, and similar experiments undertaken by Victor Pasmore and Richard Hamilton at Kings College Newcastle, a new introductory course for art, design and architecture students emerged, called the Foundation Course,Roger Coleman et al. The Developing Process: Work in Progress Towards a New Foundation of Art Teaching (London: Institute of Contemporary Arts, 1959) which went on to become the standard degree course- entry qualification for art, design and architecture students in many countries, including Britain, Ireland, Canada and elsewhere. Those Karaites who are new to the Karaite lifestyle do not have such an inheritance or tradition and tend to rely heavily upon just the Tanakh and those practices mentioned in it, and to adapt Biblical practices to their cultural context. Karaite communities are so small and generally isolated, that their members commonly adopt the customs of their host country. In Israel, too, traditional Karaites tend to be culturally assimilated into mainstream society (both secular and Orthodox). Many modern Karaite Jews have emerged from the Karaite revival of the late 20th century; the World Karaite Movement was founded by Nehemia Gordon and Ḥakham Meir Rekhavi in the early 1990s. Karaite Jewish University (KJU), approved by the Mo‘eṣet HaḤakhamim (the Council of Sages) in Israel, was founded to teach an introductory course on Karaite Judaism. It could lead to a student's conversion by a Beit Din (religious Jewish court) authorized by the Mo‘eṣet HaḤakhamim.
