A group of developers purchased a property further out on Vesterbrogade with the intention of creating a private street where prostitutes could operate from individual apartments. Construction began in 1903 but the plans were stopped by the so-called October Act which illegalized prostitution. The Westend complex became instead popular with actors and theatre people.

The name of these associations is a composition of the words "eve" like some sort of ecstasy-pills and "rave" like the correspondent electronic music events. The objectives of Eve & Rave were advancements in party- and techno-culture and the harm reduction of using drugs. Therefore, Eve & Rave offers information about low-risk use of legal and illegalized drugs.

Although the Chilean model has been recommended for adoption in other Latin American countries, none has yet accepted it in its original form. The proposed transfer of one element of the Chilean model played a role in the 2000 water war in Cochabamba, Bolivia; that which awarded ownership of all water resources to the new concessionaire, International Water. This legal change meant that existing users, which included peasant farmers and small- scale water supply networks, were immediately illegalized, resulting in widespread angry protests. Stalin and his "centre" faction were allied with Bukharin and the Right Opposition from late 1924, with Bukharin elaborating Stalin's theory of Socialism in One Country. Together, they expelled Trotsky, Kamenev, Zinoviev and the United Opposition from the Communist Party in December 1927. However, once Trotsky was out of the way and the Left Opposition had been illegalized, Stalin soon became alarmed at the danger posed to the Soviet state by the rising power of the capitalistic Kulaks and NEPmen, who had become emboldened by the Left Opposition's illegalization. Sensing this danger, Stalin then turned on his Right Opposition allies.

When World War II came to Norway 9 April 1940, the youth communists prepared its organization for illegal work in case the Nazi occupation lead to communist organizations being illegalized. This happened in August the same year, a month before the illegalization of the other political parties. Reimann was a member of the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1946–54, the advisory board of the British Occupation Zone in 1946–48 and the economical board of the Bizone in 1947–49. He was the head of the KPD group at the parliamentary council and a member of the Bundestag in 1949–53. In 1954, he moved to East Germany but continued to operate his position as the head of the West German KPD, which was illegalized in 1956. Reimann returned to West Germany in 1968, became a member of the newfounded German Communist Party in 1971 and its honorary chairman.

The use of drugs was admitted as a social reality and the abstinence paradigm (the general condemnation of people using illegalized drugs) was classified as out of touch with reality. Therefore, in the year 2000 a team of authors called techno-netzwerk berlin developed the Drug-Checking-Konzept für die Bundesrepublik DeutschlandDrug-Checking-Konzept für die Bundesrepublik Deutschland (techno-netzwerk berlin, April 2000) (PDF; 1,52 MB) (Concept of Drug Checking for the Federal Republic of Germany) addressed to the German Bundesministerium für Gesundheit (Federal Ministry of Health), co-authored to a large degree by Eve & Rave Berlin. After Eve & Rave Berlin, NRW and Kassel had stopped their activities, only Eve & Rave Münster and Eve & Rave (Schweiz) remained active.

Brigitte Sossou Perenyi (Togo, 1990) is a Ghanaian documentary producer. She lived under conditions of slavery after being kidnapped at the age of seven and sent to Ghanaian sanctuary where Trokosi, or wife of the gods, was a secular practice that sends young women to forced labor to redeem the sins of their relatives. When she was only seven-years-old, Brigitte was kidnapped and taken to a Ghanaian sanctuary to pay for the adultery crime committed by her uncle, according to the Trojan tradition. This practice had survived for more than 300 years and was finally illegalized in Ghana in 1998, although it was continued and no priest was ever tried.

Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon became the first same-sex couple to be legally married in the United States in 2004, when San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom allowed city hall to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples. However, all same-sex marriages done in 2004 in California were annulled. Some of the first European languages to be spoken in the U.S. were English, Dutch, French, Spanish, and Swedish. From the mid-19th century on, the nation had large numbers of immigrants who spoke little or no English, and throughout the country state laws, constitutions, and legislative proceedings appeared in the languages of politically important immigrant groups. There have been bilingual schools and local newspapers in such languages as German, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Irish, Italian, Norwegian, Greek, Polish, Swedish, Romanian, Czech, Japanese, Yiddish, Hebrew, Lithuanian, Welsh, Cantonese, Bulgarian, Dutch, Portuguese and others, despite opposing English-only laws that, for example, illegalized church services, telephone conversations, and even conversations in the street or on railway platforms in any language other than English, until the first of these laws was ruled unconstitutional in 1923 (Meyer v. Nebraska). Currently, Asian languages account for the majority of languages spoken in immigrant communities: Korean, the varieties of Chinese, and various Indian or South Asian languages like Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Kannada, Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam, as well as Arabic, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Persian, and others.
