Guests could visit Mount Washington on the newly opened Carriage Road (now the Mount Washington Auto Road) to its summit, visit other natural attractions in the area, or recreate in the hotel's game rooms, parlors, library, listen to an orchestra, dance, play lawn tennis, fish, play croquet, hike, horseback ride, enjoy a guided carriage ride, or take in a theater show.

The extension of the Treasury building was designed by architect Benjamin Henry Latrobe and completed in 1806. The first Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton, never got to see it finished. The fire-proof vault addition designed by Latrobe turned out to be a hardy structure – it was the only part of the building that survived the 1814 attack by British troops who burned many of the significant buildings in Washington during the War of 1812. Treasury offices were temporarily relocated to seven buildings along Pennsylvania Avenue between 19th and 20th streets while the Treasury building, other executive departments and President's House (White House) were reconstructed.

The happenings in the South Carolina legislature were described negatively and seen as pro- black and significantly focused on issues that only pertained to blacks. Attention was solely focused on the misgivings occurring within legislature such as, "unethical appropriation of state funds by members of the legislature" and other unethical and illegal acts committed by both black and white legislatures in South Carolina. Another set of issues brought up was the multitude of expensive decorative items and embellishments that were purchased for the refurbishment of the State House. White legislatures were generally left out of the criticisms, despite their own contributions, and were referred to as victims of corruption due to the influence of black people.

Originally built in the late 1700s by General Green Clay, she built an Italianate addition with central heating and indoor plumbing, renaming the house White Hall.White Hall State Historic Site, 2009 M.J. Warfield Clay left the farm in 1868> soon after her husband finally returned from his ambassadorship in Russia (and a year long stay in New York). The Clays ended their marriage of 45 years with a divorce granted on February 7, 1878, on the grounds of abandonment and with a stipulation that she could not re-marry as long as Cassius Clay lived. Cassius Clay continued to live at the farm with an adopted son after his wife and her children left, and he entertained lavishly.

Despite these losses, occupancy at Jefferson Pointe remains high, with recent additions like Marshalls, Simply Mac (a national chain of Apple Specialists), Petshion Boutique, The Nut House, White House Black Market, a relocated Old Navy, and an art gallery. Jefferson Pointe was home to the first Barnes & Noble, Panera Bread, and ULTA in Fort Wayne. The center also houses the only IMAX theater in the region, which was added in 2011, and was home to the first Vera Bradley store in Indiana (Fort Wayne is home to the brand). The second proposal was to build a separate residential complex in Sedlec, but this was rejected by the Romany themselves, as they considered it too isolated from the town, and would concentrate too many Romany in a small area. They also made many demands, such as the construction of individual family houses, which the authorities would not meet. The third potential alternative was the construction of a stand- alone suburban housing estate with four-storey prefabricated panelled housing blocks with 284 apartments for "Category II" and "Category III" Romany, which would also house white citizens with a "lower housing culture". The centre of the new apartments would be a large kitchen, and they were designed to be adaptable for larger families.

Sigsbee Manderson, a wealthy American plutocrat, is found shot dead in the grounds of his English country house "White Gables", in the village of Marlstone, on the south-west coast of England. Philip Trent, an artist, freelance journalist, and amateur detective, is commissioned by Sir James Molloy, a Fleet Street press magnate, to investigate and report on the case. Trent receives the cooperation of the police (the investigating officer proves to be Inspector Murch of Scotland Yard, an old acquaintance), and is able to view the body, examine the house and grounds, and interview those involved. Other members of the household include Manderson's wife, Mabel; his two secretaries (Calvin Bunner, an American, and John Marlowe, an Englishman); Martin, a manservant; and Célestine, a lady's maid.

On February 19, 2017, Priebus said intelligence officials had cleared the Trump campaign of having any contact with Russian spies, contrary to anonymously sourced reports made the previous week by The New York Times, part of what the White House has referred to as "fake news". According to a Politico article dated March 17, 2017, a request by Priebus that the FBI refute allegations of contact by Trump associates with Russian intelligence "appears to have violated the White House's policy restricting political interference in pending investigations". In a dispute over leaks from the White House, White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci tagged Priebus at the end of a (later deleted) Twitter post about such leaks, leading to speculation that Scaramucci considered Priebus responsible for them. Priebus stated on CNN that he had resigned on July 27, 2017.

In 1912, when news of the disaster of the Titanic reached the offices, the officials were too afraid to leave the building, and instead read the names of the deceased from the balcony. During World War II, the gable was damaged and was later rebuilt in the late 1940s. The key proponents of this strategy were Mike Hamlin, John Watson, and Ken Cockrel. This group within the League believed that it was just as important to build connections with students, community and neighborhood organizations, and white radicals as it was to build new RUMs in the plants.

The 18th century saw England becoming a global power fighting wars in Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, India and South East Asia. Individuals from White Ladies Aston were involved in these areas of action and witnessed important events in the growth of the British Empire. Some of these individuals and their careers are recorded on memorials inside the church. Captain Thomas Elrington died in 1809, aged 87, having served for 65 years in the army, taking part in events such as the "45 Jacobite Rebellion" and the Seven Years War (1756 – 63) in North America under General Braddock and Lord Amherst. Major General Richard Goodall Elrington Richard Goodall Elrington was born on 16 June 1776 at Low Hill House, White Ladies Aston. He was appointed Major-General on 23 November 1841. He died on 2 Aug 1845 in Pancras, London. He entered the army at the age of 14 during the French Revolutionary War and served in actions across the world.

In 1940, Field became executive secretary of the American Peace Mobilization (APM), a position for which he had been recruited by Earl Browder himself.
