In 2000, Stiles won the CFCA Award for "Most Promising Actress" for her role as Kat Stratford (tied with Émilie Dequenne in Rosetta) and an MTV Movie Award for Breakthrough Female Performance.

Robert Warren played bass guitar in various Australian bands in both Brisbane and Sydney from 1985 to 2006, including, and in chronological order, The Closest Thing, Dementia 13, The Egyptians, Sanity Assassins, The Reptile House, Mona Lisa Overdrive, Died Pretty (1991–2002), Lodestar, Hissy Fit, Mr Blonde, Libero Vox. Most recently, Warren has been performing with The Exploding Boys who act as the backing band for tribute shows featuring various singers. Warren's recorded material is notable for driving, "tribal-sounding" basslines, and basslines that provided the melody line in a song by featuring chordal variations, most often against a pedal note. The prominent use of the bass guitar to provide such melodic interest was a feature of many Died Pretty recordings and can be traced throughout the band's history.

Glimpses 1963–1968 is an obvious change from that mentality as it seems to have been compiled by Yardbirds experts and fans trying to fill-in the gaps of their official releases. The quality of this release varies from an excellent to hissy, crackling and distorted - the badly recorded songs included for their historical significance. "Easy Action's Glimpses is truly the first attempt to do a successful comprehensive roundup of rarities, packaging a variety of alternate takes, live cuts, commercials, and BBC Sessions..." Easy Action spent five years organizing this collection and presenting it in a "45-shaped box accommodating 32-page booklet (boasting remarkably candid photos), gig postcards, 7” single coupling 1963’s Baby, What’s Wrong with I Wish You Would, and five CDs." Interviews with members are interspersed to give an almost documentary style to the project.

Stop motion set on display at the National Science and Media Museum, with Andy Pandy, Looby Loo and Teddy Another set of 52 episodes was made in 2002, using the stop-motion technique instead of string puppeteering. The original nursery and garden were expanded to an entire village, with Andy, Teddy and Looby Loo now owning individual houses, and four new characters were introduced into the series: Missy Hissy; and her brother, another snake who is never seen Tiffo; a teal-and-purple dog, Bilbo (vocals performed by David Holt); a sailor, and Orbie (vocals performed by Maria Darling); a yellow-and-blue ball. The new series was narrated by actor Tom Conti. While the emphasis of the original series was on music and movement, the emphasis of the 2002 series was on making and doing.

For most sounds involving the tongue, the place of articulation can be sufficiently identified just by specifying the point of contact on the upper part of the mouth (for example, velar consonants involve contact on the soft palate and dental consonants involve the teeth), along with any secondary articulation such as palatalization (raising of the tongue body) or labialization (lip rounding). However, among sibilants, particularly postalveolar sibilants, there are slight differences in the shape of the tongue and the point of contact on the tongue itself, which correspond to large differences in the resulting sound. For example, the alveolar fricative and the three postalveolar fricatives differ noticeably both in pitch and sharpness; the order corresponds to progressively lower-pitched and duller (less "hissy" or piercing) sounds. ( is the highest-pitched and most piercing, which is the reason that hissing sounds like "Sssst!" or "Psssst!" are typically used to attract someone's attention).

In 2006, they released Gossip Diet, which sold thousands of copies and garnered positive reviews. A Georgia Straight review stated that, "this intelligent, immaculately arranged, piano-infused alt-pop…befits a disc put out by a major label (or at least a decent-sized indie), so it's surprising that this is a self-released effort". A major contributor to this album was producer Howard Redekopp, who has worked with groups such as Tegan and Sara, The New Pornographers and 54-40. This album was recorded in two Vancouver based studios: Warehouse Studio and Vertical Studios, and it features a blend of sing-along harmonies, piano interludes, and catchy guitar riffs. Many of the tracks on Gossip Diet include politically charged lyrics, which Dobraznski explains is because the album is "about the gossip industry and their consumers manipulation of famous people for their own satisfaction… and it’s a frustrated hissy-fit in reaction to government nepotism" (Mah, 2006). The album’s single, "The Archaeologists" has an upbeat tempo that carries through the entire track; however the lyrics take on a more serious and political tone.
