Since they concentrate in the origins of the distortion, they are mostly useful for the engineers who develop and design audio amplifiers, but on the other hand they may be difficult to use for the reviewers who only measure the output. A huge issue is that measurements of objective nature (for example, those indicating magnitude of scientifically quantifiable variables such as current, voltage, power, THD, dB, and so on) fail to address subjective preferences. Especially in case of designing or reviewing instrument amplifiers this is a considerable issue because design goals of such differ widely from design goals of likes of HiFi amplifiers. HiFi design largely concentrates on improving performance of objectively measurable variables.

Instrument amplifier design largely concentrates on subjective issues, such as "pleasantness" of certain type of tone. Fine examples are cases of distortion or frequency response: HiFi design tries to minimize distortion and focuses on eliminating "offensive" harmonics. It also aims for ideally flat response. Musical instrument amplifier design deliberately introduces distortion and great non-linearities in frequency response.

Some people craft "homemade" electrostimulation power sources, or adapt or modify commercial products (such as a Hifi or DVD system) that were never intended for electrostimulation of the human body. These can be dangerous practices; such improvised devices not specifically designed for use on the human body can easily cause injury. The risk is mostly twofold. First the device can supply too much power.

"On this album the Stones go metal," Pearlman claimed. "Technology is in the saddleas an ideal and as a method. A mechanically hysterical audience is matched to a mechanically hysterical sound." He highlighted the LP's "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?" as an exemplar of this aesthetic: Writing in HiFi that same year, Peter Reilly was indifferent to the merits of the music and merely found the audio quality fair but "echo-y".
They continued development on the product. And in 1976 The world's biggest Hifi Magazine at the time ¨The Audio Critic magazine¨ reviewed the amplifier and wrote: “Audio freaks – eat your hearts out. This is the world’s best-sounding amplifier.” And in 1991 Michael Jackson's producer Bruce Swedien was contacted by Nils Bjarne Kvam one of the biggest producers in Norway at the time, and he told him about the amplifiers of Electrocompaniet, and Swedien started getting interested.

During playback, VHS Hi-Fi recovers the depth-recorded AFM signal by subtracting the audio head's signal (which contains the AFM signal contaminated by a weak image of the video signal) from the video head's signal (which contains only the video signal), then demodulates the left and right audio channels from their respective frequency carriers. The end result of the complex process is audio of outstanding fidelity, which was uniformly solid across all tape-speeds (EP, LP or SP.) Such devices were often described as "HiFi audio", "Audio FM" / "AFM" (FM standing for "Frequency Modulation"), and sometimes informally as "Nicam" VCRs (due to their use in recording the Nicam broadcast audio signal). They remained compatible with non-HiFi VCR players since the standard audio track was also recorded, and were at times used as an alternative to audio cassette tapes due to their exceptional bandwidth, frequency range, and extremely flat frequency response. The 8 mm format always used the video portion of the tape for sound, with an FM carrier between the band space of the chrominance and luminance on the tape.
Both Hi8 and S-VHS were officially rated at a luminance resolution of 400 lines, a vast improvement from their respective base formats and are roughly equal to Laserdisc quality. Chroma resolution for both remain unchanged. Both S-VHS and Hi8 retain the audio recording systems of their base formats; VHS HiFi Stereo outperforms Video8/Hi8 AFM, but remains restricted to high-end machines. In the late 1980s, digital (PCM) audio was introduced into some higher-grade models of Hi8 recorders.
In 2003, Swedish electronica artist Sophie Rimheden sampled the beat and bassline from the song on the track "In Your Mind" of her album HiFi. However, because the VHS Hi-Fi recording process is intertwined with the VCR's video-recording function, advanced editing functions such as audio-only or video-only dubbing are impossible. A short-lived alternative to the hifi feature for recording mixdowns of hobbyist audio-only projects was a PCM adaptor so that high- bandwidth digital video could use a grid of black-and-white dots on an analog video carrier to give pro-grade digital sounds though DAT tapes made this obsolete.
The album was produced by Paweł Odoszewski, Thomas Martin Leithead-Dochert, Dominic Buczkowski- Wojtaszek, Kuba Galiński, Bogdan Kondracki, Marcel Závodi, Christian Eberhard, Andrei Idu, Czarny HIFI, Michał Pietrzak, KNOXA and The Maneken. Dolby Surround logo Dolby Surround is the earliest consumer version of Dolby's surround sound decoding technology. It was introduced to the public in 1982 during the time home video recording formats (such as Betamax and VHS) were introducing Stereo and HiFi capability. The name Dolby Surround described the consumer passive matrix decoding technology; the professional, active matrix cinema technology bore the name Dolby Stereo. It was capable of decoding Dolby Stereo 4-channel soundtracks to 3 output channels (Left, Right, Surround).
After a disastrous overinvestment in colour television production, Tandberg folded and revived without the HiFi-branch these came from. Revox went one step further: after much hesitation about whether to accept cassettes as a medium capable for meeting their strict standards from reel-to-reel recorders at all, they produced their B710MK I (Dolby B) and MK II (Dolby B&C;) machines. Both cassette units possessed double capstan drives, but with two independent, electronically controlled capstan motors and two separate reel motors.
The Cizek Model One (first edition). The Cizek Model One (a refurbished model). The Cizek Model One was the first HIFI product of CIZEK Audio System, a two-way bookshelf loudspeaker system which gave a certain notoriety to Roy Cizek, founder of the company. This product was important because it was the first loudspeaker system which, due to its particular crossover, showed a flat impedance curve (except for the resonance peak) with a consequent easier work for the amplifier and linear frequency response.
The impedance of a magnetostatic speaker is often mainly resistive, but in some cases may be so low that the amplifiers have to be ready to accommodate the low impedance load. Magnetostatic speakers provide good sound quality, and may be very thin, but for producing also lower frequencies with good enough sensitivity, their height and width dimensions must be rather large. The principle behind a magnetostatic speaker // HiFi Advice Magnepan is the main producer of magnetostatic loudspeakers for high fidelity home audio.
Vanya, Velko, Filip, Pavel and Gosho establish a band with a lead singer, Vanya (who is the girlfriend of Filip). Vandeberghe also joined the new band Hifi Handgrenades, and Tschirhart joined the band soon after. Later, Tschirhart formed another band called The A-Gang with former Mest drummer Nick Gigler.
In 1981, JVC introduced a line of revolutionary direct-drive cassette decks, topped by the DD-9, that provided previously unattainable levels of speed stability." JVC DD-9 Cassette Deck Review", HiFi Classic, webpage: . During the 1980s JVC briefly marketed its own portable audio equipment similar to the Sony Walkman on the market at the time. The JVC CQ-F2K was released in 1982 and had a detachable radio that mounted to the headphones for a compact, wire-free listening experience.
The "acorn tube" (named due to its shape) was also very small, as was the metal-cased RCA nuvistor from 1959, about the size of a thimble. The nuvistor was developed to compete with the early transistors and operated at higher frequencies than those early transistors could. The small size supported especially high-frequency operation; nuvistors were used in aircraft radio transceivers, UHF television tuners, and some HiFi FM radio tuners (Sansui 500A) until replaced by high-frequency capable transistors.

It also supports direct call for Amazon Alexa for voice services. It is the first of kind that combines a HiFi music player, a 32G local storage, voice recognition, activity tracking and biometric sensors (like heart rate). The Vinci smart headphones use a combination of touch, gesture and voice to provide a streamlined music listening experience. Vinci headphones carry an internal dual-core CPU thus no phones are needed when users go for a run or work out in a gym.
Acoustic Wave Music system The first "Wave" product was the "Acoustic Wave Music System" (AWMS-1), which was a tabletop mini-hifi system that was introduced in 1984. The AWMS-1 consisted of an AM/FM radio, cassette player, two 2-inch tweeters, and a four inch woofer.Popular Mechanics, March 1985 Page 14 In 1987, Amar Bose and William Short won the Inventor of the Year award from Intellectual Property Owners for the waveguide loudspeaker system. A model with a CD player was added in 1992.
Dziś w moim mieście is the first studio album of the two brothers: Pezet and Małolat. The production of the album was assigned to Donotan, The Returners, Szczur and DJ. BZa. Most of the beats were created by Czarny from the HIFI rap group, he was also assigned for the final mix of the album. There are some guest appearances on this album, like Grizzulah from The EastWest Rockers, VNM, members of the rap group Molesta Ewenement, Małpa and an Italian rapper Fabri Fibra.
On June 8, 2010, alternative rock band Nada Surf released a cover of Fox's song "Electrocution" on an album titled if i had a hifi. On October 20, 2011, a video entitled "An Anthem For Occupy Wall Street" was uploaded to YouTube. It contains images of the Occupy Wall Street events of that year along with a previously unreleased song by Bill Fox, entitled "Men Who Are Guilty of Crimes." Bill Fox approved the song's use in the video, discussing it in a November 2011 interview.
He added that the deck's pitch instability was audible "every so often, particularly with woodwinds". Szabady, in Stereo Times, also agreed that musical expressiveness was the classic strength; its weaknesses included occasional speed inconsistency and slurring of heavily modulated bass transients. HiFi Choice said in 1984 that the Planar 3 sounded "nicely musical in a balanced and coherent manner. Presentation of detail was considered well above average"; in 1992 it asserted that the Rega Planar 3 has been "a long time leader" under £250.
A class-A push–pull amplifier produces low distortion for any given level of applied feedback, and also cancels the flux in the transformer cores, so this topology is often seen by HIFI-audio enthusiasts and do-it-yourself builders as the ultimate engineering approach to the tube Hi-fi amplifier for use with normal speakers. Output power of as high as 15 watts can be achieved even with classic tubes such as the 2A3Pete Millett's DIY Audio pages. Tube data. RCA 2A3 Power Triode.
World War II stimulated dramatic technical progress and industrial scale production economies. Increasing affluence after the war led to a substantial and expanding consumer market. This enabled electronics manufacturers to build and market more advanced valve (tube) designs at affordable prices, with the result that the 1960s saw the increasing spread of electronic gramophone players, and ultimately the beginnings of high fidelity. Hifi was able to drive full frequency range loudspeakers (for the first time, often with multiple drivers for different frequency bands) to significant volume levels.
Isa Genzken: Berlin, 1973, artist book, facsimile, publ. by Galerie Buchholz, Cologne/Berlin 2013 Buchholz organized her exhibition project Musix, in which he showed Genzken's concrete "World Receiver" radio sculptures in the window of a HiFi electronics store in Cologne. In the following of 1988, Genzken had her first solo exhibition with Daniel Buchholz, and has been primarily represented by the gallery ever since.Isa Genzken – Early Works, exhibition catalogue, Galerie Buchholz, Berlin 2013 In 1990, Daniel Buchholz presented the exhibition project "Samson" by Chris Burden.
In the 1950s and 1960s, high quality home loudspeakers were exclusively large and floor- standing speaker enclosures, whereas small speaker cabinets had reputation of low price and low audio quality. However, beginning in the 1960s, some manufacturers began making more expensive, compact high fidelity speakers. The demand for smaller speakers was from hifi enthusiasts who lived in small apartments, who did not have space for large speaker enclosures. Edgar Villchur, who along with partner Henry Kloss founded Acoustic Research, is generally credited with inventing bookshelf speakers.
Rizzitello allegedly participated in the murder of mobster John Guariglia and Paul Ricci at the HiFi Lounge in Brooklyn on November 11, 1961, along with future LA mob soldier Tommy Ricciardi. Soon in 1956, Mike Rizzitello moved to California. In California, Rizzitello first became affiliated with the Los Angeles crime family working as a debt collector and extortionist for Salvatore "Dago Louie" Piscopo along with a friend of his named Louie "Lefty" Castiglione. He was also mentored by Joseph Sica; an associate of Piscopo.
Also, like Archos' other products, this is also connectible to a hifi with its line out source, which was ideal for portable DJs. The Jukebox 6000, and its successor the Jukebox Studio (see below), used standard USB 1.1 technology, transferring data at a maximum rate of 1 MB per second. These models transfer data at a comparably slow rate compared with succeeding Archos devices using the USB 2.0 standard. This device was released Saturday, December 9, 2000 and discontinued as of Friday, May 16, 2003.
The latter shorter-insert libraries then yield up to 50 billion bases from a single SMRT® Cell. On 1 October 2019, PacBio released the 8.0 software and 2.0 chemistry for Sequel II. For larger templates read as "continuous long reads", an example human library yielded N50 read length of 52,456 and yield per cell is 182 GB. For libraries below ~20,000 bases, read in circular consensus sequencing, yield per cell is quoted at 450 GB or about 30 GB of HiFi corrected reads.
In general, Video8 comfortably outperforms non-HiFi VHS/Beta. Video8 has one major advantage over the full-size competition. Thanks to their compact size, Video8 camcorders are small enough to hold in the palm of the user's hand. Such a feat was impossible with Betamax and full-sized VHS camcorders, which operate best on sturdy tripods or strong shoulders. Video8 also has an advantage in terms of time, because although VHS-C offers the same "palmcorder" size as Video8, the VHS-C tapes only hold, at most, 45 minutes of tape in SP speed.
Christophe Tack (born 29 December 1992) is the 2014 World Champion Freestyle Kitesurfer. He first started kitesurfing when he was 10, and has been a professional since 2009, when he won an event on the Junior World Championship Tour. He is supported by Liquid Force, and has been involved in producing the Liquid Force Hifi X, and in 2016 the Element board will feature a pro model graphics design ridden by Tack. In 2010, Tack became Belgian senior champion for the first time, and ended the season in 4th place on the European rankings.
Fisher sold his interest in Philharmonic Radio and founded his second audio firm, Fisher Radio Company, which developed, manufactured and marketed high- performance audio products under the trade name "The Fisher". The Fisher 500 (TA500), Fisher's first HiFi receiver (1957) By the 1950s, the term receiver was used instead of radio for a unit that combined a tuner and an amplifier, but lacked speakers. In 1957, the Fisher Radio Company produced their first high fidelity FM/AM receiver, the monophonic 14-tube Fisher 500 (TA500). In 1958, H.H. Scott, Inc.
Other contenders for the highest "HiFi" quality on this medium were two companies already widely known for their excellent quality reel-to-reel tape recorders: Tandberg and Revox (consumer brand of the Swiss professional Studer company for studio equipment). Tandberg started with combi-head machines, such as the TCD 300, and continued with the TCD 3x0 series with separate playback and recording heads. All TCD-models possessed dual-capstan drives, belt-driven from a single capstan motor and two separate reel motors. Frequency range extended to 18 kHz.
The two tracks on Cook's binaural discs had different equalization curves. The RIAA equalization standard had not yet been adopted when Cook began his work. The bass turnover of 500 Hz on both tracks and the rolloff of 0 on the inside band and -11 on the outside band were meant to allow for greater modulation in the recording. As the two pickups required two preamps and HiFi preamps of the day included manual settings for turnover and rolloff, the difference in equalization was not a particular burden.
Hi-fi speakers are a key component of quality audio reproduction. High fidelity (often shortened to hi-fi or hifi) is a term used by listeners, audiophiles and home audio enthusiasts to refer to high-quality reproduction of sound. This is in contrast to the lower quality sound produced by inexpensive audio equipment, AM radio, or the inferior quality of sound reproduction that can be heard in recordings made until the late 1940s. Ideally, high-fidelity equipment has inaudible noise and distortion, and a flat (neutral, uncolored) frequency response within the human hearing range.
In the PSA, Checker encourages Americans on Medicare to apply for Extra Help, "A new 'twist' in the law makes it easier than ever to save on your prescription drug plan costs." On February 25, 2013, Checker released a new single, the ballad "Changes," via iTunes; it was posted on YouTube and amassed over 160,000 views. "Changes" was produced by the hill & hifi and reached 43 on the Mediabase Top 100 AC Chart and 41 on the Gospel Chart. Checker performed it on July 5, 2013, on NBC's Today show.
Nakayama was born into a family of doctors, and was expected to pursue medicine as a career. However, Nakayama decided to drop out of college and not to pursue medicine further. Through an advertisement in a newspaper, Nakayama found a job as a jukebox leasing salesman for the V&V; Hifi Trading Company. He rose to head of a new sales department at V&V;, but when the company would not take his advice to begin distributing arcade games, Nakayama left with four of his salesmen to form a company called Esco Trading in 1967.
In 2010, Derek participated in a tribute album titled Mister Bolin's Late Night Revival, a compilation of 17 previously unreleased tracks written by guitar legend Tommy Bolin prior to his death in 1976. The CD includes other artists such as HiFi Superstar, Doogie White, Eric Martin, Troy Luccketta, Jeff Pilson, Randy Jackson, Rachel Barton, Rex Carroll, Kimberley Dahme, and The 77's. A percentage of the proceeds from this project will benefit the Jackson Recovery Centers.Mister Bolin's Late Night Revival, 2010 He toured again with Nugent from 2011 to 2014. Whitford/St.
Peter Molyneux, co-founder of Bullfrog Productions, in 2010 In 1982, entrepreneur Peter Molyneux met Les Edgar at a HiFi shop called PJ Hi-Fi. When Molyneux left the company where he was working, Edgar suggested that they start a new one, which would later develop business software for the Commodore 64 as Taurus Impact Systems (also known as Taurus Software). The new company was named after Molyneux and Edgar's shared astrological sign, the Taurus. At some point, Molyneux accepted a deal to export money systems to Switzerland and baked beans to the Middle East.
In 1982, Edgar was working at a Hifi shop called PJ Hi-Fi, which Peter Molyneux entered one day seeking a computer for a database program he had been writing. This meeting led to the two men forming a partnership: Edgar stated that they had a similar sense of humour, and shared many interests including a desire to succeed. He also said that retail was lacking challenge. Edgar and Molyneux then formed Taurus Impact Systems (named so because both Molyneux and Edgar were Taureans), to develop database software.
Wamala dropped out of school in junior secondary three and started to work at a Kampala music store. He quit and started to work with the then Public Works Department (PWD), and later as a receptionist and resident artiste with Opel Tom Tom, a recording studio in Kampala's industrial area. When Opel Tom Tom closed, Wamala moved to Nairobi where he became a resident guitarist at a commercial recording studio, HiFi. He was picked to lead the Sportsman Cha Cha band, which was sponsored to tour East Africa, promoting Sportsman cigarettes.
Mobile Zone Data became available after 3G coverage was turned on. In regards to SIM swapping, it is worth noting that the customer must have a blank SIM card which may only be purchased from the following retailers: 2degrees Mobile (walk-in & online purchases), Harvey Norman, Noel Leeming, Warehouse Stationary and JB Hifi. 2degrees SIM cards purchased from stores such as supermarkets are not blank. 2degrees now also provides an online SIM swap option in which the 18-digit SIM number is required which can be found inscribed on the SIM itself.
He avoids modern tuning and prefers to use open tuning, closer to a jazz than a rock drummer, and adopts a mix of matched grip and traditional grip. Away from music, van der Linden enjoys painting and writing poetry. In the 1990s he joined the free jazz group Advance Warning and played on four albums: Cut the Crap, Regroovable, Hot House, and HiFi Apartment. He also recorded in a trio with organist Herbert Noord and tenor saxophonist Rinus Groeneveld, and rated the album Dare to Be Different as one that he was particularly proud to play on.
In 2008 Benji Boko moved to Leeds to attend Leeds College of Music graduating with a BA(Hons) in Music Production. He managed to get a regular DJ slot at HIFI in Leeds. He played there for three years where he continued to experiment and improve his live mixing ability. In 2011 he graduated from Leeds College of Music and returned to Brighton where he used what he learnt in his three years in Leeds and continued to perform as a DJ. Late 2010 saw Benji Boko sign to the independent Brighton based label Tru Thoughts.
The headquarters for kit production was Zuckermann's New York workshop on Christopher Street in Greenwich Village; for a time this continued to produce completed instruments, though eventually the burden of making enough kits to fill demand led Zuckermann to abandon this part of the business. The Modern Harpsichord, p. 210 The evolved production system included some work in the shop itself, but with substantial outsourcing to larger enterprises.Outsourcing appears to have been a response to a crisis in the evolution of the firm. In 1962, HiFi/Stereo Review reported that Zuckermann was producing 260 kits per year and having trouble meeting demand.
In 1998, the song was covered by American swing band the Cherry Poppin' Daddies for the soundtrack to David Zucker's comedy film BASEketball. A decade later, the song was performed by Samuel E. Wright, Kevin Michael Richardson, Rob Paulsen, Jim Cummings, Alvin Chea, Oren Waters, Rick Logan and Chris Garcia in The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning. The song was sampled by Pitbull as "Shake Señora" off the 2011 album Planet Pit. That same year, a 2004 recording of the song by Karl Zero and The Wailers (released on Zero's album, HiFi Calypso) was used in Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules.
Tippatone (also known as (Lord) Tippatone Hifi) was an early Jamaican sound system. Tippatone rose to prominence in the late 1960s, as the popularity of the second generation of sound systems (specifically Coxsone Dodd's Downbeat Sound System and Duke Reid's The Trojans) decreased, and they were very popular in the early to mid-1970s. Their selector was Jah Wise, who had started as a "boxboy," carrying equipment for the act, and quickly became their selector. Tippatone, like all sound systems, engaged in sound clashes; according to Jah Wise, those with King Twilight from Montego Bay were the most difficult.
First-generation "chrome bumper" Naim NAITThe Naim NAIT (acronym for "Naim Audio Integrated amplifier") is an integrated amplifier from the British hi-fi manufacturer, Naim Audio. The original NAIT is one of the most recognisable pieces of hi-fi equipment ever made. Hi-fi critic Lucio Cadeddu recognised its legendary status, referring to it as "one of the most controversial and famous integrated amps in the history of HiFi". Having already made their name producing solid-state pre-amplifier and power-amplifier separates, Naim launched a low-powered integrated amplifier that embodies the qualities of its amplifiers, aimed at cost-conscious audiophiles.
The DVD contains interviews with each band member, discussing their experiences within I Killed the Prom Queen and the possibility of a return. The initial pressing of the DVD came with a live CD recorded at the Hifi Bar in Melbourne and a tour laminate. The original release of the DVD was set for a September release, but was delayed, then was set for an 8 November release, but once again it was delayed due to classification issues. The album was eventually released on 22 November 2008 and 17 March 2009 in the U.S.It is rated MA15+ for Alcohol Abuse.
The Moto Z uses a USB-C connector, and does not include a 3.5 mm headphone jack; headphones must be used with a USB port adapter or over Bluetooth. The phone houses the cs47L35 hifi dac as opposed to some speculations of inbuilt aquistic dac. There is also a rugged variant known as the Moto Z Force which shares most of the same internals as the base model. Differences include a larger 3500 mAh battery, 21-megapixel camera, and the company's "shatter-resistant" display, which consists of polycarbonate layers accompanied by an interior frame to provide reinforcement as opposed to glass.
JVC sold their electronic products in their home market of Japan under the "Victor" name with the His Master's Voice logo, but used the name JVC or Nivico in the past for export due to differing ownership of the His Master's Voice logo and the ownership of the "Victor" name from successors of the Victor Talking Machine Company. In 2011, the Victor brand for electronics in Japan was replaced by the global JVC brand. However, the previous "Victor" name and logo is retained by JVC Kenwood Victor Entertainment, and is used as JVCKenwood's luxury HiFi marque.
He would leave the band in January 1973, and form his own band Skorpió that same year. Also in 1973, Ringasd el magad was issued in Czechoslovakia by Supraphon, CS Hifi Klub and the Hungarian MHV Pepita label. Its cover art was the same, but the song titles and other information were written in Czech. An unreleased version of the album includes a different take of the song Kotta nélkül, as well as an additional piano track in the song Azt hittem, which was omitted from the actual LP, and slightly extended versions of several other tracks.
HiFi-Plus, Issue 68 The principle behind it is that the turntable is an inert platform that allows the stylus to track the surface of the record accurately whilst being protected from external vibrations. The platter, sub-chassis, armboard and tonearm mechanically form a closed loop, and sit on top of dampers (usually three springs) which isolate the sub-assembly from its motor and its base. The motor, mounted (directly or indirectly) on the top plate, drives the turntable platter via a belt. The compression spring system of the XA was much improved upon, and popularised in the Linn Sondek LP12.
In April 1966, Curry joined Sinclair Radionics, a company founded by Clive Sinclair in 1961. Curry was to play an important role in getting Sinclair interested in both calculators and computers in his thirteen years with the company. Curry was at first involved with Sinclair's hifi products, which included amplifiers and speakers, and he also worked on Sinclair's electric vehicle, a project that would turn into the C5 some years later. In 1972, Sinclair Radionics launched its first electronic calculator, the Executive, which was considerably smaller than its competitors since it used hearing-aid-sized batteries.
H.H. Scott sold some of the earliest FM stereo multiplex tuners and receivers, with some units sold as kits. The company's competition included brands like Fisher, Marantz, McIntosh, and Harman Kardon. The 1961 Model 350 was the first FM stereo multiplex tuner sold in the US. H.H. Scott was involved in early stereo multiplex testing with radio station WCRB in Boston, one of the first three U.S. FM stations to broadcast in multiplex stereo. The company pioneered developments in noise suppression, tube output circuits, hifi mono and stereo amplifiers, tuners, FM multiplex, transistor receivers, FET RF sections, and integrated circuit IF sections.
An official press release via Lambgoat states that this album is the first time the band has ever really had production on a recording. Alt Press defines Household's style on the album as an "earnest, sprawling take on punk-influenced emo sounds." Several review outlets pointed out that Everything A River Should Be marks another change in sound. Hifi Noise wrote that the new album marked a big change for Household as they head into "blending rock and emo for a new sound" that sounds "way more polished" than ever, a feature that suits the band.
51 On his HIFI albums, Wright is a perfect complement to the label's star, Arthur Lyman. His Dot albums are somewhat less showy, though he continues to work with a considerable range of material, from old standards to Dave Brubeck's "It's a Raggy Waltz." In August 1970, however, the studio/warehouse (owned by organ speaker inventory Don Leslie) where he kept his personal pipe organ burned and he stopped recording for over 10 years. Wright bought a house in the Hollywood Hills less for its location than for its capacity to accommodate his own mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ.
West End, a cosmopolitan suburb about two km south-west of the CBD, plays host to a wide variety of street dining, music, bars like the Rumpus Room, the Lychee Lounge, Uber, The HiFi, Ill Manor and others. RSL clubs and local pubs around the suburbs occasionally have live acts. Most major concerts are held in the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Boondall, the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre adjacent to the South Bank Parklands or the centrally located Riverstage. Other major events (including raves) are hosted at the RNA Showgrounds (due to its massive size and under-utilization when not hosting the Ekka) and more recently, Suncorp Stadium.

In March 2005, Paterson and Mikes joined with bass guitarist Sean Jacobs and keyboardist Dave Rudin to form Brownline Fiasco.
DC-International cassette DC-International is a tape cassette format developed by Grundig and marketed in 1965. DC is the abbreviation of "Double Cassette", as the cassette contained two reels; International was intended to indicate that, from the beginning, several companies around the world supported the format with suitable tape cassette tape recorders, recorded music cassettes and blank cassettes. Since DC-International did not compete effectively against the similar Compact Cassette, it was discontinued in 1967.Grundig Technische Information, Ausgabe September 1965Zeitschrift „Tonband“, Ausgabe 5/1967 Starting in 1961, Philips (in conjunction with Grundig) began work in its Vienna tape production facilities, on a (HiFi)-compatible single-hole cassette.
If the needle touched the speaker was discarded. In the next years Cizek Audio System produced another interesting system composed by 2 standard speakers systems with one (stereo) or two (monophonic) additional subwoofers (respectively the Cizek Model 3 + MG27 system and the Classic 20 system, composed of two satellites (KA1) plus one subwoofer (KA20); These two systems were considered between the better HIFI speaker system in the world in the reviews of the italian magazines Suono and Stereoplay. The MG 27 sub-woofer system together with 2 Quad electrostatic speakers is considered a milestone and used for comparison of modern speakers at the magazine Stereophile.
On 1 September 2009, White sang vocal parts in Lord's Concerto for Group and Orchestra at the opening night of the Fall Arts Fest in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. On 23 June 2010 he performed with Lord again, this time in Luxembourg during the Classic Rock Night with Big Band Opus 78. Strong and polarised opinions about Naim amplifiers led to the NAIT being called "one of the most controversial and famous integrated amps in the history of HiFi" by Lucio Cadeddu. This controversy has been as much to do with the company's refusal to follow the fashion of "audiophile-approved values" – such as power ratings and holographic soundstage – as its idiosyncratic preference for connectors other than RCA connectors and its eschewing of tone controls. The volume control always sits on the wrong (left) side of the facia. However, the trade noted that the unique sound of the NAIT caused it to become "an instant classic" upon release.
Dilettantes is the eighth studio album by the Australian rock band You Am I, released on 13 September 2008.Music Games DVDs at JB HIFI Australia It was recorded at Electric Avenue Studios in Sydney and Sing Sing South in Melbourne before being mixed at Studio 301 in Sydney. Rex Reed, in a highly unfavourable review of the LP for HiFi/Stereo Review, did not care for the track at all, calling it "nothing more than a Gaslight Era cabaret tune full of da-das and yeah-yeahs". In Tim Riley's view, the Magical Mystery Tour songs are largely uninspired recreations of Sgt. Pepper, and he describes "Your Mother Should Know" as "'When I'm Sixty-Four' in knickers". He says that although the harmonic ideas are "bright and clever", the instrumental bridges interrupt rather than complement the verses, and the inclusion of the "da-da-da" singalong "make[s] it sound like a demo with dummy lyrics".
Telarc is noted for the high quality of its recordings, encapsulated in the slogan "The Telarc Sound". Its 1979 high-definition digital recording of Tchaikovsk'y 1812 Overture (the first ever) became a popular way for people to test the quality of their record-playing equipment and audio setups, as only high-quality and properly-tuned systems could play the hifi digital cannon shots properly. The record ultimately became their best-selling ever and established them as a company. Its audio engineers are highly regarded in the recording business and have led Telarc to over 50 Grammy Awards on its own label and two others it distributes, Heads Up and MCG.
Formed by Simon Stone and Nicholas Broten in 1995, Fonda 500 have been releasing albums since 2000. Their songs appeared on the soundtrack to the British comedy television programme, Teachers on Channel Four, Colin Farrel film Intermission and E4's Skins (2010). They have built up a cult following since 2000, chiefly through their explosive live performances and their unique musical style, which draws elements from 60's pop music (Beach Boys harmonies) bedroom pop (usage of novelty instruments) and indie rock (electric guitars). Their first two albums were released on Village Records (Hull), followed by a signing to Truck Records (Oxford) for No. 1 Hifi Hair.

BANDA has released almost nothing since the early 2000s however, but the new owner of BANDA has issued two new offerings, Back to School and an all-piano offering Gin & Tonic. Wright's organ recordings were distributed on the Associated Program Service Transcriptions, Muzak, Thesaurus Transcription Service, Armed Forces Radio Service, RCA Custom (under the pseudonym Jocelyn McNeil), RCA Camden (under the pseudonym Guy Melendy), Malar, King, Regent, Lurite, Doric, Century, Hamilton, Reader's Digest, Essential, BANDA, HiFi, SOLO, and DOT labels. Wright died of heart failure on May 10, 1998, in Los Angeles. His remains were cremated by the Neptune Society and scattered in the organization's Rose Garden.
The U-matic machines were always made with Stereo, and both Betamax and VHS recorded the audio tracks using a fixed linear recording head. However the relatively slow tape speed of Beta and VHS was inadequate for good quality audio, and significantly limited the sound quality. Betamax's release of Beta Hi-Fi in the early 1980s was quickly followed by JVCs release of HiFi audio on VHS (model HR-D725U). Both systems delivered flat full-range frequency response (20 Hz to 20 kHz), excellent 70 dB signal-to-noise ratio (in consumer space, second only to the compact disc), dynamic range of 90 dB, and professional audio-grade channel separation (more than 70 dB).
Due to the path followed by the video and Hi-Fi audio heads being striped and discontinuous—unlike that of the linear audio track—head-switching is required to provide a continuous audio signal. While the video signal can easily hide the head-switching point in the invisible vertical retrace section of the signal, so that the exact switching point is not very important, the same is obviously not possible with a continuous audio signal that has no inaudible sections. Hi-Fi audio is thus dependent on a much more exact alignment of the head switching point than is required for non-HiFi VHS machines. Misalignments may lead to imperfect joining of the signal, resulting in low-pitched buzzing.
Originally launched in 2014, Tidal was founded from Norwegian/Swedish public company Aspiro. In 2015, Jay-Z acquired Aspiro and rebranded Tidal, stating that it was the first digital music streaming service by artists; in 2015 Tidal held a press conference where sixteen big-name music artists (like Daft Punk, Kanye West, Madonna) announced that they were partial owners, and held a stake in Tidal. Tidal currently claims to have 42 million paying subscribers. _Pricing_ : Tidal premium (the first tier option) is priced at $9.99 per month while the Tidal HiFi (second tier) is priced at $19.99 and gives users access to higher quality tracks known as "high fidelity, lossless audio" which come in the form of FLAC.
In 1989–1991 and 1992–1994 the contest was arranged in two main categories, one for new product ideas and their designers, and the second category for existing products and their manufacturers. In 1991, no Grand Prize was given and the second prize was divided between two German entries, the Metropolis set of hifi audio equipment by workgroup Meta-Moderne (Wolfgang Hein, Volker Dowidat and Bernard Neelen) and an experimental three-wheeler Lizard by Julian Pahlow. The corporate category winner was a MIDI saxophone for Yamaha, designed by Yasuhiro Kira. Other award recipients in 1991 included Hans-Uwe Baumann, Peter Stenlund, Corinne Chiapello, Loic Perois, Renate Eilert, Eric Chan, Philip Bro Ludvigsen, Hertha Baeumer, and Bernard Sams.
In the meantime Sjoerd's consultancy practice undertook major corporate projects including; Massey Ferguson, the world's largest tractor manufacturer by restructuring their logistics and workflow practices, re-structuring logistics operations for corporations such as Mothercare, Jaguar, Boots, Saab, Volvo, Toyota, Fisher HiFi and others, before being recruited by the UK government to assist in the introduction of market economy practices to conglomerates in the former USSR. He returned to music in the late 1990s, while working as an advisory board member and consultant for audio industry corporations such as JBL, Lucid, Symeterix. In 2001, he established a recording studio, Tantrum Studios, based in Santa Barbara, California. The design incorporated all Sjoerd had learned over the years.
Sengpiel studied electrical engineering in Berlin (Germany). As a musician, he studied composition and led several dance music bands. He was a development engineer in the field of audio technology and was among the developers of the HiFi standard DIN 45500. As a sound engineer, he worked with pop musicians such as Reinhard Mey, Peter Maffay, and the Fischer Choirs in the field of classical music, he is doing recordings of the New York Philharmonic, the Berlin Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra (Washington, D.C.), the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra and various famous chamber music artists, to mention only Il Giardino Armonico, Andreas Staier, and Concerto Cologne (Concerto Köln).
Sennheiser mm26 magnetic microphones, used as covert listening devices by the Stasi, the official state security service of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) Sennheiser is mainly known for its consumer headphones and professional headphones and microphones, such as the MKH 416 short shotgun, which came to be the Hollywood standard shotgun microphone; and the 816, similar in design with longer reach. It also makes the US$55,000 Orpheus headphone set; wireless microphones; aviation, multimedia and gaming headsets; micro-Hifi systems; conferencing systems; speakers; and amplifiers. Sennheiser consists of two independent business units: its consumer division and the professional audio division. The consumer division offers customers a range of headphones and home entertainment speakers.
For NTSC, LP and EP/SLP doubles and triples the recording time accordingly, but these speed reductions cause a reduction in horizontal resolution – from the normal equivalent of 250 vertical scan lines lines in SP, to the equivalent of 230 in LP and even less in EP/SLP. The slower speeds cause a very noticeable reduction in linear (non- hifi) audio track quality as well, as the linear tape speed becomes much lower than what is commonly considered a satisfactory minimum for audio recording. Color depth deteriorates significantly at lower speeds in PAL: often, a color image on a PAL tape recorded at low speed is displayed only in monochrome, or with intermittent color, when playback is paused.

Disco Pistol were an English pop punk band active in the late 1990s. The band was formed in 1996 and consisted of lead vocalist, Mira Manga, lead guitarist Kevin Baxter, keyboard player Hyper Helen, bass player Craig Page and Marky Sparky on drums. The band were gathered together by 'Glitter Scene' svengalis Kevin Wilde and Hifi, who ran the influential Club Skinny at the Camden Lock HQ. It was at this club that Manga was spotted and others replied to ads in the NME. The band were invited to add their track "Supersexy Revolutionary" to the And The Rest Is History compilation of 'C96' bands (alongside Kenickie, Helen Love, Symposium, Midget, Period Pains, etc).
Jamison reunited with Survivor in March 2000, replacing original singer Dave Bickler once again. The band started touring in the Amphitheater Hersey Park, Pennsylvania followed by the Millenium stage, Uprising, US Tour 2000. They did a live performance in Hachenburg, the Across the German miles tour in Nordseehalle Emden, The battle of Woodlands - Woodlands Pavillion Houston, performed in Volunteers for America in Atlanta. It is currently broadcast in America on MTV Live (formerly known as Palladia); previously it had been shown on Ovation, BBC America, Fuse, and Dave. The Ovation and Fuse broadcasts leave out several performances (and usually one or two performers entirely) to air commercials within a one-hour timeslot. It is also shown in Australia on the UKTV channel and ABC2, in Canada on HIFI and AUX TV, in Germany on ZDFkultur, in Spain on Canal+ Xtra, in Croatia on HRT 2, in Latin America on Film&Arts; and in Belgium, France, Portugal, Switzerland, and the United Arab Emirates on iConcerts HD, and in Ireland on TG4. The 200th programme was broadcast on 1 February 2008.
After initially performing on baroque violin with Trio Settecento, she soloed in the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra and then switched gears again to perform in black leather on her electric violin with Earthen Grave. In conjunction with the event, she received the 2010 Great Performer of Illinois award. In 2010, Pine participated in a tribute album titled Mister Bolin's Late Night Revival, a compilation of 17 previously unreleased tracks written by guitar legend Tommy Bolin prior to his death in 1976. The CD includes other artists such as HiFi Superstar, Doogie White, Eric Martin, Troy Luccketta, Jeff Pilson, Randy Jackson, Rex Carroll, Derek St. Holmes, Kimberley Dahme, and The 77's.
In the 2010s, with the popularity of portable media players and digital cameras, as well as fast Internet download speeds and relatively cheap mass storage, many people came into possession of large collections of digital media files that cannot be played on a conventional analog HiFi without connecting a computer to an amplifier or television. The means to play these files on a network-connected digital media player that is permanently connected to a television is seen as a convenience. The rapid growth in the availability of online content has made it easier for consumers to use these devices and obtain content. YouTube, for instance, is a common plug-in available on most networked devices.
This was owed to Stafford's frequent trips to Jamaica where he would source reggae music, conduct and cut dub versions to tracks to be played exclusively by Jah MafiaTone HiFi back in the UK. He launched the Mafia Tone record label and released Dungeon voiced by Glenn Miller - Wailing Souls] in 1972. After recording only two tracks on this label, he moved on to launch the Art & Craft label putting out Motherless Children by Symbol, as well as works by artists such as Johnny Clarke. Recording between the UK and Jamaica he scouted and produced many recordings for numerous reggae artists. Now Generation label was launched in 1985 and produced the first hit for Bonito Star, Money Can't Buy Me Love in 1986.

In 2008, a book titled Touched By Magic: The Tommy Bolin Story by author Greg Prato was released, which featured all-new interviews with former bandmates, family members, and friends of Bolin, which recounted his entire life story. The same year, a photo of Bolin was used for the front cover for the book Gettin' Tighter: Deep Purple '68–'76, by author Martin Popoff. In 2010, several well- known artists gathered to create a tribute album titled Mister Bolin's Late Night Revival, a compilation of 17 previously unreleased tracks written by the guitar legend. The CD includes works by HiFi Superstar, Doogie White, Eric Martin, Troy Luccketta, Jeff Pilson, Randy Jackson, Rex Carroll, Rachel Barton, Derek St. Holmes, Kimberley Dahme, and The 77s.
Against the backdrop of a rapidly increasing demand for movies on VHS and an increase in "piracy" at the same time, film industry representatives agreed in early 1984 to set up a separate company to combat illegal distribution of copyrighted material. The decision was primarily driven by the motivation of the industry, to detach from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). The longtime chairman of the Bundesverband Audiovisuelle Medien (BVV, Federal Association of Audiovisual Media) and Managing Director of the German subsidiary of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, Bodo Schwartz, was key in the establishment of GVU. The establishment of the GVU as a legally registered association was formally announced in the autumn of 1984 at the HiFi trade fair in Düsseldorf.

7th heaven is a Chicago, Illinois-based rock band created by guitarist Richie Hofherr, Tony Di Giulio, and Michael Mooshey. Formed in 1985, it has continued up to present day with changing band members. The band was named by co-founder Michael Mooshey in 1985. The band name 7th heaven was named after a line from the song "rock around the clock" By Bill Haley & His Comets. The line: "we'll be right in 7th heaven". 7th heaven was managed by Alec John Such of Bon Jovi and James Young of Styx in 1997-1998. 7th heaven is currently managed by NTD Management, which also manages such bands as "Karma Committee", "Serendipity" & HiFi Superstar. They are signed to NTD Records, writing over 5,000 songs by now, doing many shows and selling 100,000 CDs to date.
In 1953, the company mostly abandoned comics, selling its most popular titles—the romance comics Cinderella Love and Romantic Love, the Western Kid Cowboy, and the jungle adventure Wild Boy of the Congo—to St. John Publications. Ziff-Davis continued to publish one title, G.I. Joe, until 1957, a total of 51 issues. From 1958, under the direction of sole owner Bill Ziff Jr., a polymath with a photographic memory, Ziff-Davis became a successful publisher of enthusiast magazines, purchasing titles like Car and Driver, and tailoring content for enthusiasts as well as purchasing agents ("brand specifiers"); the company was able to attract advertising money that other, general-interest publications were losing. In 1958, Ziff-Davis began publishing a magazine, HiFi and Music Review, for the growing hobby of high fidelity equipment.
" Rex Reed, in a highly unfavourable review of the LP for HiFi/Stereo Review, described "The Fool on the Hill" as "the only item on the disc that is not distorted so much that you can't understand the lyrics" and admired the flutes on the recording. Having dismissed the Beatles as "lousy entertainers and downright untalented, tone- deaf musicians", he added that the song "will probably be picked up by people who can sing, and then maybe I will like it even more". Robert Christgau, writing for Esquire in May 1968, said the song "shows signs of becoming a favorite of the Simon & Garfunkel crowd and the transcendental meditators, who deserve it. A callow rendering of the outcast-visionary theme, it may be the worst song the Beatles have ever recorded.
The move saw great improvements to both online business, and higher-value in-store custom. On March 2, 2015, HifiGear relocated again, this time to King Street, Hereford, which enabled the company to connect with and assist the people of Herefordshire in a more central location. The new premises is in direct view of Hereford's beautiful cathedral, and is easily recognisable by the neat orange and white 'HifiGear' sign, glowing over a brushed aluminium front, designed to reflect the clean aesthetic of the website. The King Street store showcases a number of models from highly regarded hifi brands, including Bowers & Wilkins, Naim Audio, KEF, Sonos, Ruark Audio, Loewe televisions, Pro- Ject Turntables, and much more, with demonstration capabilities in place for customers who wish to audition or compare products.
If, for example, a domestic HiFi system has a grounded turntable and a grounded preamplifier connected by a thin screened cable (or cables, in a stereo system) using phono connectors, the cross-section of copper in the cable screen(s) is likely to be less than that of the protective ground conductors for the turntable and the preamplifier. So, when a current is induced in the loop, there will be a voltage drop along the signal ground return. This is directly additive to the wanted signal and will result in objectionable hum. For instance, if a current I of 1mA at the local power frequency is induced in the ground loop, and the resistance R of the screen of the signal cable is 100 milliohms, the voltage drop will be V = I \cdot R = 100 microvolts.
In VHS the incoming HiFi audio is frequency modulated ("Audio FM" or "AFM"), modulating the two stereo channels (L, R) on two different frequency-modulated carriers and recorded using the same high- bandwidth helical scanning technique used for the video signal. To avoid crosstalk and interference from the primary video carrier, VHS used depth multiplexing, in which the modulated audio carrier pair was placed in the hitherto-unused frequency range between the luminance and the color carrier (below 1.6 MHz), and recorded first. Subsequently, the video head erases and re-records the video signal (combined luminance and color signal) over the same tape surface, but the video signal's higher center frequency results in a shallower magnetization of the tape, allowing both the video and residual AFM audio signal to coexist on tape. (PAL versions of Beta Hi-Fi use the same technique).
From 1958 to 1963, Holliman found a brief, yet successful, career as a singer and had a record deal with such notable recording studios as Capitol Records, Prep, and HiFi. His songs included: "A Teenager Sings The Blues", "Nobody Knows How I Feel", "Don't Get Around Much Anymore", "Sittin' And A Gabbin'", "If I Could See The World Through The Eyes Of A Child", "La La La Lovable", "Wanna Kiss You To-Night", "I'm In The Mood For Love", "We Found Love", "Willingly", "There'll Be No Teardrops Tonight", and "Road To Nowhere". In May 1976, he guest starred on The John Davidson Show singing a vaudeville style version of "(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song" with Davidson, as well as performing his own solo version of The Carpenters track, "Rainy Days and Mondays".
After the release of the vinyl remake of Oval Dreams, the band announced in September 2013 during the "1st Audiario of September", a festival of music and HIFI, held in Milan on 14 and 15 September, their intention to meet as soon as possible for the composition and recording of new material. The "reunion" was confirmed in March 2014 and the group met in the same trullo where Oval Dreams was composed. The line-up included Marco Lippe on drums, Anthonio Paparelli on guitars, and Paolo Lippe on keyboards, bass and vocals. During the meeting, which took place in San Marco di Locorotondo (BA) between 9 and 24 August 2014, the band was able to compose 13 new songs plus a "remake" of the first song ever written by the progressive band in 1980 (That Old House).
North American-market cars had bigger bumpers and the front bumper had a larger rubber portion, replacing the auxiliary lights as required by the North American laws. Porsche 944 (USA), showing the different front bumper In mid-1985, the 944 underwent its first significant changes, these included: new dashboard and door panels, embedded radio antenna, upgraded alternator (from 90 amp to 115 amp), increased oil sump capacity, new front and rear cast alloy control arms and semi-trailing arms, larger fuel tank, optional heated and powered seats, Porsche HiFi sound system, and revisions in the mounting of the transaxle to reduce noise and vibration. The front windshield was now a flush- mounted unit. The "cookie cutter" style wheels used in the early 944s were upgraded to new "phone dial" style wheels (Fuchs wheels remained an option).
FUSE, an international ultraviolet space observatory launched in 1999, has aboard the Canadian-designed and built Fine Error Sensor camera system for tracking the telescope. Canada provided the $37 million "weather station" aboard the Phoenix Mars unmanned mission scheduled to land on that planet in 2008. In 2008, the Agency plans to launch a hybrid satellite, Cassiope, which includes a scientific package equipped with the "enhanced polar outflow probe" that will study the ionosphere. The Agency has also coordinated Canada's contribution to the HIFI and SPIRE instruments aboard the Herschel Space Observatory and to the Low Frequency Instrument and the High Frequency Instrument aboard the Planck astronomical/cosmological satellite both of which will be launched in 2008. Finally, Canada is contributing the Fine Guidance Sensor and Tuneable Filter Imager for the James Web Space Telescope scheluled for launch in 2013.
He was born on July 23, 1941 in Orange, New Jersey, to Myron Ruby and Leonore Sacks. The earliest years of his life were spent on army bases as his father served as an officer in the United States Army during World War II but the rest of his childhood was mostly spent in Essex Fells and South Orange. After graduation from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts he was accepted into Harvard where he studied mathematics, he later attended M.I.T. While at M.I.T. he and a fellow student by the name of John Strohbeen started selling stereos out of their dorm room, a business which would grow into Tech HiFi, one of the largest consumer electronics chains in the country. Ruby and Strohbeen opened their first store at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Vassar street in Cambridge.
Full Fathom Five is a live album by the band Clutch. The full name of the album is Full Fathom Five: Audio Field Recordings, differentiating from the accompanying DVD release Full Fathom Five: Video Field Recordings. The DVD and Album differ in that four cities recorded at are on the DVD, but the album has only three cities, being: The Metro Theatre, Sydney, NSW, Australia (tracks 11-15, December 15, 2007); The Starland Ballroom, Sayreville, NJ (tracks 4 & 5, December 29, 2007 and tracks 6 & 7, December 28th 2007); and Mr Smalls Theatre, Pittsburgh, PA (tracks 1-3 and 8-10, March 20, 2008). The reference to the HiFi Bar as the Sydney concert in some source material is incorrect, as it is in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia (900 kilometers south of Sydney), which is from another live Australian recording, Heard It All Before: Live at the Hi Fi Bar.
Pepper, the soundtrack demonstrated the Beatles' departure from true rock values in favour of studio effects, and he found artifice in the "waft of foggy music" accompanying Harrison's declaration that "There's a fog upon LA". Typically of Harrison's recent songs, Goldstein continued, "Blue Jay Way" was "filled with fascinating tones and textures" but the message was confused and laboured, and he complained that it was sung with a vocal that was "[more] sandpaper than Satori". Rex Reed, in a highly unfavourable review of the album for HiFi/Stereo Review, said the song "consists of three minutes and fifty seconds of the Beatles sounding as if they are singing under water or gargling with Listerine" and dismissed it as "boring as hell". By contrast, Robert Christgau wrote in Esquire that, despite three of the new songs being "disappointing", Magical Mystery Tour was "worth buying ... especially for Harrison's hypnotic 'Blue Jay Way'".
However, because the VHS Hi-Fi recording process is intertwined with the VCR's video-recording function, advanced editing functions such as audio-only or video-only dubbing are impossible. A short- lived alternative to the hifi feature for recording mixdowns of hobbyist audio-only projects was a PCM adaptor so that high-bandwidth digital video could use a grid of black-and-white dots on an analog video carrier to give pro-grade digital sounds though DAT tapes made this obsolete. Some VHS decks also had a "simulcast" switch, allowing users to record an external audio input along with off-air pictures. Some televised concerts offered a stereo simulcast soundtrack on FM radio and as such, events like Live Aid were recorded by thousands of people with a full stereo soundtrack despite the fact that stereo TV broadcasts were some years off (especially in regions that adopted NICAM).
Three nights of preview performances had been cancelled, losing $36,000 in ticket sales, but two day's worth of Jacob's fixes allowed the show to open on the fourth preview night. Jacob stayed with the production, arguing for further improvements to the sound such as uncovering the orchestra pit which had been sealed by Taplin for isolation reasons but had been stifling the musicians with heat, and was giving a muffled sound to the instruments. He also replaced the insufficient JBL Paragon home hifi loudspeakers with the McCune JM3, rigging two over the proscenium, and flanking the stage with two more to bring the spatial imaging down to the level of the performers. During this time, Jacob developed a lasting relationship with Masque Sound's John "Jack" Shearing, a New York sound company owner who was friendly with the Broadway union stagehands of IATSE Local 1.
The difference between the Panoram and the Scopitone jukebox, was that with Panoram the 16mm films were black and white with optical sound and there was no selection among the 8 short films in the jukebox, whereas Scopitone featured color (in the US produced films Technicolor), with hifi magnetic soundtracks, with selection available between all 36 Scoptione films in the Scopitone Jukebox. Scopitone films, like Soundies, featured recordings that performers lip synced to, with at least one exception; Bill Lee Riley was recorded live performing the song High Heel Sneakers in his Scopitone. Jack Stevenson, The Jukebox That Ate the Cocktail Lounge, included in Land of a Thousand Balconies, page 31, A Critical Vision Book, Between 1940 and 1946, three-minute musical films called Soundies (produced in New York City, Chicago and Hollywood) were displayed on a Panoram, the first coin-operated film jukebox or machine music. These were set up in nightclubs, bars, restaurants and amusement centers.
Carroll has recorded numerous sound libraries, many of which have been picked up for use by ESPN for their NFL highlights, as well as Season One of the Anna Nicole Show. His playing has been heard on commercials for the Milwaukee Bucks, and he also performed the National Anthem at the Harley-Davidson 100th anniversary celebration. In June 2004, he placed third in the North American Rock Guitar Competition sponsored by Guitar Player magazine and WNED/New York. Carroll holds a bachelor's degree in classical guitar performance from Northern Illinois University. In 2010, Rex participated in a tribute album titled Mister Bolin’s Late Night Revival, a compilation of 17 previously unreleased tracks written by guitar legend Tommy Bolin prior to his death in 1976. The CD includes other artists such as HiFi Superstar, Doogie White, Eric Martin, Troy Luccketta, Jeff Pilson, Randy Jackson, Rachel Barton, Derek St. Holmes, Kimberley Dahme, and The 77’s.

Rosette Nebula image captured by Herschel On 21 July 2009, Herschel commissioning was declared successful, allowing the start of the operational phase. A formal handover of the overall responsibility of Herschel was declared from the programme manager Thomas Passvogel to the mission manager Johannes Riedinger. André Brahic, astronomer, during a conference in the Cannes Mandelieu Space Center Herschel was instrumental in the discovery of an unknown and unexpected step in the star forming process. The initial confirmation and later verification via help from ground-based telescopes of a vast hole of empty space, previously believed to be a dark nebula, in the area of NGC 1999 shed new light in the way newly forming star regions discard the material which surround them. In July 2010 a special issue of Astronomy and Astrophysics was published with 152 papers on initial results from the observatory. A second special issue of Astronomy and Astrophysics was published in October 2010 concerning the sole HIFI instrument, due its technical failure which took it down over 6 months between August 2009 and February 2010.

Club Skinny was created in spring 1995 by promoters Kevin Wilde and Paul "HiFi" Nugent as a club playing stylish 1980s pop as an antidote to the fashion for indie-derived Britpop. The club was originally located at Camden's Laurel Tree venue, then the home of top Britpop clubnight Blow Up. Wilde and Nugent regarded it as a subversive and "punk" act to host their glamorous pop night at a major epicentre of the indie/Britpop movement they were opposing. Although initially forced to make the compromise of including concerts by upcoming Britpop bands in order to attract punters, the club gained momentum after members of Persecution Complex, a female David Bowie-influenced band noted for their flamboyant dress sense, became regulars at the club, attracting a flow of further flamboyant club-goers in their wake. A further development was the recruitment of two glamorous 1980s-styled bands Plastic Fantastic and DexDexTer, the former a Brighton-based Roxy Music/Japan- influenced outfit fronted by former Scorpio Rising/Supercharger frontman Stuart Miller, the latter formerly known as MkII and led by Xavior (born Paul Wilkinson, also formerly known as Paul Roide).
