The album made Billboard chart history as the first album by a solo Asian artist to top the Billboard R&B; / Hip-Hop charts. 88rising presented its first Head In The Clouds Festival on September 22, 2018 at the Los Angeles State Historic Park.

The festival was dubbed by Rolling Stone and Los Angeles Magazine as the "Asian Coachella". 88rising also released its followup compilation album, Head in the Clouds II, on October 11, 2019, which featured artists like Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd, Jackson Wang, Phum Viphurit, CHUNG HA, and many more. A duet from the album, "I Love You 3000 II" by Stephanie Poetri and Jackson Wang, quickly topped the Billboard China Social Chart. On April 29, 2020, 88rising announced details of its Asia Rising Forever festival, an online concert featuring Asia talent from around the world streamed on 88rising's YouTube and Twitter accounts on May 6.

Orfield lab also achieved the designation for their friends at Sound 80 as "the world's first digital recording studio" in the 2006 Guinness World Records. The two main studios are still fully intact, and they are filed for historic designation by the State and the Federal Government. Other important studios in Minneapolis include the Dove studio, which released several cult classic psychedelic and garage rock recordings in the 1960s, Blackberry Way, founded by Paul Stark, who would later co-found the Twin/Tone record label. ESP Woody McBride's record label "Communique" and its subsidiaries "Sounds" and "Head in the Clouds" had released 100 records by 1998.

In the July, 17th 1952 newspaper edition of Sud-Ouest (Bordeaux, France), an article by R. Cahisa called, "À l’inconscient surréaliste substituant le surconscient, François Brousse, philosophe et conteur, fonde le groupe de la Quatrième Dimension. (Surrealist unconsciousness substituting for super-consciousness, François Brousse, philosopher and storyteller, founds the Forth Dimension Group). Brousse is portrayed as a person who is, "svelte and thin with strong prescription glasses. This kind, patient and optimistic vegetarian who believes in homeopathy, the afterlife, metempsychosis and who admires Hindu philosophy and Gandhi – who let himself die of hunger – could be said to have his head in the clouds or even on trans-Plutonian planets.

In the United States, he directed Romero, starring Raul Julia, which won the Humanitas Award, and Lawn Dogs, winner of numerous prizes in European festivals. In England he directed The Leading Man, from a screenplay by his sister Virginia, The Parole Officer with Steve Coogan, and in Canada/France/UK Head in the Clouds with Charlize Theron and Penélope Cruz, winner in Canada of four Genie Awards and Best Film at the Milan International Film Festival. Between 2005 and 2010, he took time off from the film industry to work on a book on secular ethics, returning to Australia to direct Careless Love in 2011/12.

In 2018, the 626 Night Market team launched NorCal Night Market at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in northern California. On May 2, 2019, Billboard announced the 2nd annual Head in the Clouds music festival presented by media collective and record label 88rising for Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Los Angeles State Historic Park with a food section curated by 626 Night Market. 88rising artists Rich Brian and Niki made special guest appearances at the 626 Night Market events. 626 Night Market collaborated with Los Angeles apparel brand Kinda Fit Kinda Fat for a food-themed fashion show called Food Fashion Frenzy on September 1, 2019.

On May 7, 2018, Sean Miyashiro, the founder and CEO of the mass media company 88rising, announced their inaugural music festival called "Head in the Clouds" which would take place at the Los Angeles State Historic Park on September 22, 2018. With the announcement, the collective of artists under the label would also release a group album with the same name to accompany the festival. On July 19, 2018, Joji and Rich Brian joined Sean Evans on First We Feast's Hot Ones to promote both the album and festival. They also partnered with First We Feast to create a cooking show based on their stay in Los Angeles titled Feast Mansion which premiered on 26 September 2018.

The Lancashire Oaks winner Sacred Song started favourite ahead of the Irish Oaks runner-up Mot Juste with Super Tassa starting the 25/1 outsider in a nine-runner field. The other runners were Head In The Clouds, Karsavina (third in the Irish Oaks), Snowflake (second in the Nassau Stakes), Zanzibar (Oaks d'Italia), Nafisa (Ballymacoll Stud Stakes) and Rockerlong (Cheshire Oaks). Super Tassa was held up by Darley in the early stages as first Mot Juste and then Snowflake set the pace before the Italian mare began to move forward half a mile from the finish. Sacred Song took the lead in the straight but Super Tassa went to the front approaching the final furlong and held on to win by a length from the favourite, with Rockerlong two and a half lengths back in third place.

Wang supervised the whole process, from the initial creation to the packaging, and was personally involved in arrangements, lyrics writing, and music video shooting. The album's first single, "Bullet to the Heart", was released on 24 September with a music video directed by Daniel Cloud Campos, and tells the obstacles and hardships experienced in pursuing something. The album's second single was "Dway!", published on 22 October with its music video. In conjunction with the release of Mirrors on 25 October, the singer and artist Da Yan created an interactive video installation space titled Bullet to the Heart: 0328 at the LOVE LOVE LOVE Art of Love Exhibition at Shum Yip Upperhills Tower 1 in Shenzhen from 24 October to 3 November. On 11 October 2019, leading up to the release of Mirrors, Wang was featured in three tracks from 88rising's album Head in the Clouds II: "Tequila Sunrise", "Walking", and "I Love You 3000 II".

Location of reported COVID-19 cases in Jakarta as of 2 April 2020 On 2 March, in response to the confirmed cases, DKI Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan halted the issuance of permits for large gatherings. These including concerts by Foals, Babymetal, Head in the Clouds, and Dream Theater. On 13 March, after 69 positive COVID-19 cases, several tourist destinations in Jakarta including Ancol Dreamland, multiple government-managed museums, Ragunan Zoo and Monas were closed for 2 weeks. The Islamic organization Muhammadiyah formed a "command centre" allocating 20 hospitals in the country to handle the outbreak, with the centre being led by emergency medicine specialist Corona Rintawan. On 14 March, Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan decided to suspend all school activities and examinations for two weeks in response to prevent further spread of the virus in the capital city of Jakarta. On 15 March, Jakarta provincial government prepared 500 to 1,000 beds for patient under investigation (PUI) that will be placed on designated COVID-19 treatment facilities.

She made rapid progress on the outside in the closing stages, took the lead in the final strides and won by a neck from the gelding London Bank, with the German colt King's Boy a neck away in third. In the Group One Gran Premio di Milano on 17 June, Super Tassa started at odds of 8.6/1 and stayed on strongly in the closing stages to finish third behind Paolini (later to win the Dubai Duty Free Stakes), and the British-trained favourite Ela Athena. The mare then moved to France for her next two races, finishing sixth to Mirio in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud and third behind Abitara and Head In The Clouds in the Prix de Pomone at Deauvillle on 5 August. Super Tassa was sent to England for the first and only time when she was one of nine fillies and mares to contest the Group One Yorkshire Oaks on 22 August and was partnered by the British jockey Kevin Darley.

Reinforced was started in 1989 by Mark "Marc Mac" Clair of 4hero and Gus Lawrence, soon to be joined by Dennis "Dego" McFarlane (also of 4hero) and Ian Bardouille. The first releases were all 4hero productions, including Mr Kirk's Nightmare which sold more than 24,000 copies and which truly launched the label. During the height of the rave scene in 1991 and 1992, as with labels such as Moving Shadow and Suburban Base, it was prolific in its output, releasing singles such as "The Head Hunter" and "Cooking Up Yah Brain" by 4hero, "Feel Real Good", "Oblivion (Head In The Clouds)" and "Rainbow People" by Manix (Marc Mac), "Kingdom of Dub" by Tek 9 (Dego), "Seance" as well as "Atheama" by Nebula II, and "A London Sumtin" by Code 071. Probably the most important connection to be made during this time, though, was that of Goldie, who had been introduced to them by his then girlfriend DJ Kemistry.

In its recap of the festival, Billboard called Head in The Clouds "the Asian Festival You Need To Know". The festival was followed by the 88 Degrees and Rising tour in Fall 2018, which featured a lineup including Joji, Rich Brian, NIKI, AUGUST 08, Don Krez, Sen Morimoto, and KOHH. In 2019, 88rising saw sophomore studio releases from artists Higher Brothers and Rich Brian. On February 22, 2019, Higher Brothers released Five Stars, their followup to their 2017 debut Black Cab. The album featured many prominent hip- hop collaborators, including Schoolboy Q, J.I.D., Denzel Curry, Ski Mask The Slump God, Guapdad4000, Soulja Boy, Rich Brian, NIKI, and KOHH. Five Stars became the top album on Chinese streaming platform Netease in Q1 of 2019 and the Higher Brothers were crowned Hip-Hop Artist of the Year. Netease also bestowed 88rising the Label of the Year award. On July 26, Rich Brian released the sophomore studio album, The Sailor, which was primarily produced by Bekon and The Donuts and featured guest appearances from RZA and Joji.

The cover artwork, designed by longtime collaborators M/M Paris and shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, features Björk, wearing an Iris van Herpen haute couture brown and golden dress, taken from the designer's Synesthesia 2010 collection, along with a "harp-belt" made by Threeasfour, and a red wig, resembling a nebula, created by British hairstylist Eugene Souleiman, holding an orange crystal while being surrounded by the Biophilia constellation which appears in the app. According to Björk, she was inspired by the protagonist of British- Mexican surrealist novelist Leonora Carrington's book The Hearing Trumpet to create the persona of a "frustrated music teacher" which always has her "head in the clouds" to explain her concepts to people around her, an attitude she thought she had while explaining her idea for Biophilia to her collaborators, and that's why she decided to wear wigs throughout the whole Biophilia era and promotion. The "musical compass" symbol designed by M/M Paris, which features on the cover of every Biophilia-related releases and in the app. On 1 September 2011, she announced a postponement of the album's release date, pushing it back two weeks after the former date.
