Based on the High Standard HD model target pistol, it was adopted by the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during World War II. OSS head Bill Donovan demonstrated the pistol to President Franklin Roosevelt inside the Oval Office. Because of legal concerns during wartime, full-metal-jacketed .22 LR rounds were developed for this pistol.

Ingrid Imelda Wolff (born February 17, 1964 in Den Haag, Zuid-Holland) is a former Dutch field hockey forward, who won the bronze medal with the National Women's Team at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Four years later in Barcelona she finished in sixth position with the national side. From 1985 to 1992 she played a total number of 107 international matches for Holland, in which she scored 33 goals. A player from HDM in Den Haag, she retired after the 1992 Summer Olympics.

Maurice Hurel, a French aircraft designer, became a champion of very high aspect ratio wings in a bid to significantly reduce induced drag, similar to the "Davis Wing" of the Consolidated B-24 Liberator, but with much higher aspect ratios. Haagse Hockeyvereniging "Haagsche Delftsche Mixed", commonly known as hdm, is a Dutch field hockey club based in The Hague, South Holland. The club was founded on 8 February 1908, when students from Delft wanted to play hockey with their girlfriends from The Hague. In the early 1970s, DeVito was hired by the Ted Bates advertising agency, but was laid off during the 1973–75 recession and worked at a gas station on Long Island pumping gas at a Texaco station for $2 an hour for eight months before getting hired by Ketchum Advertising. During the late 1970s to the early 1980s DeVito worked for Young & Rubicam; Wells Rich Greene; Slater Hanft Martin; Penchina Selkowitz; Chiat/Day/New York, and HDM Worldwide where he won a Cannes Gold for Peugeot. DeVito taught advertising concept courses at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York for almost 3 decades.

In the early 1990s, the power spectrum of fluctuations in the galaxy clustering did not agree entirely with the predictions for a standard cosmology built around pure cold DM. Mixed dark matter with a composition of about 80% cold and 20% hot (neutrinos) was investigated and found to agree better with observations.
