In the film and the novels, one of the witches of Morva, Orwen, has a soft spot for Fflewddur. Smart, honest to a fault, and sometimes a bit hot-headed, Asuma is a very good officer, although he's often used by Goto as a lackey. Noa and Hiromi's commanding officer in the field, he has a soft spot for the former. Goto recognizes Asuma has some talent in diverse fields, as can be seen in various places throughout the series.

Connected with a stern but fair hand, relying on the Floating Outfit to carry out his wishes and often sending them to the aid of friends or relatives who had need of their talents. Despite his sternness, Hardin has a soft spot for his granddaughter Betty Hardin, and occasionally shows a keen humour and generosity to the young men he normally treats severely, such as when, having scolded Red Blaze for his gaudy neckwear, Hardin rewards him for a job well done with a still more outlandish silk bandana that he had bought for himself as a young man ("Cousin Red's Big Chance" in The Hard Riders). Although formerly having been in arms against Mexico, Hardin retains many important friends south of the border, including even one (Don Ruiz Villaneuva, in The Peacemakers) who fought on the Mexican side at the siege of the Alamo. His eventual death is reported at the conclusion of Doc Leroy M. D..

Despite the fact that he is no longer on full-time active duty, McGarrett's military background and SEAL training are still evident in his daily routine and habits; he still takes a "Navy shower", keeps his house impeccably neat and tidy, maintains a fitness regimen and is extremely sensitive to sound even when asleep. His military mannerisms are also apparent in the way he approaches his cases, some of the lingo he uses and his ability to remain calm even when under intense pressure, and he is frequently mocked by Danny for his lack of "human" touch. In later seasons he becomes more affable around the other task force members and would be seen cracking jokes with other team members. Despite his stoicism, he has a soft spot for children, especially his adoptive niece Joan and Danny's children Grace and Charlie, both of whom often refer to him as 'Uncle Steve', and is extremely protective of his younger sister Mary.

In March 2016, Lucas Till was announced as the new MacGyver, Joshua Boone as Gunner, MacGyver's best friend from high school, alongside with former and longtime CSI star George Eads as Jack Dalton, who was originally named Lincoln, a man who could easily be written off as an eccentric conspiracy theorist but is a legitimate government employee with great capability for compassion. Later cast were Addison Timlin as Mickey, an app developer who is aggressively progressive in her political views but who has a soft spot for MacGyver, and Michelle Krusiec as Agent Croix, Dalton's sister who works for the Department of Homeland Security. However, the original pilot with this casting was scrapped by CBS in June 2016—a new pilot episode was ordered with only Till and Eads from the original cast continuing on to the revised version of the show. Around the same time the new pilot was ordered, Justin Hires was cast as Wilt Bozer, MacGyver's roommate who is an aspiring filmmaker.

In February 2007, the band announced their first tour dates in three-and-a-half years, performing material from the EP as well as their unreleased album. They released Beyond the Last Light the same year to positive reviews, with Greg Prato of Allmusic stating that "[m]usically, Comes with the Fall certainly has a soft spot for the big riff thang (DuVall also supplies six-string in the band), as evidenced by the Kyuss-esque "Rockslide" and the Audioslave-ish "Pale Horse Rider."" and that they were "a rock band in the early 21st century that won't sound out of place on rock radio, but that you also won't be embarrassed to admit liking" The same year, DuVall fronted Alice in Chains on the "ReEvolution Tour" with Velvet Revolver while Davies temporarily joined Static-X, filling in for injured drummer Nick Oshiro, as well as Invitro, filling in for Bennie Cancino on the Family Values Tour. With all members active in other projects, Stanger is performing with The Young Royals, Comes with the Fall were effectively put on hiatus.

Kiki in particular has managed to live despite annoying Bun-bun to a degree he would surely tolerate from no other creature; this might indicate that he has a soft spot for her (though he would surely deny it, and seriously harm anyone who suggested it.) Bun-bun has expressed a grudging respect for Riff's destructive tendencies on more than one occasion; he will occasionally work with Gwynn if he thinks he stands to gain by it (such as using her black magic for some goal of his.) He and Zoe do not particularly like each other, but seem to have grown to tolerate each other over the years. However, out off all the main characters, Aylee seems to have the most healthy relationship with Bun-bun, with the latter being more manipulative than aggressive towards her. The reason of this is because, very early on the webcomic, Aylee earned his respect by battled against him to a draw, making him to realize that Aylee is a worthy opponent (he even apologised for cutting off her arm). Also in the chapter "Aylee", Bun-bun openly acknowledged to Riff that he is more fond of her than the rest of the cast.
