The author has a passion for regional history-Baker has spoken at many historical sites including the Nathan Hale Schoolhouse in New London, Connecticut and even given the 2015 Keynote Address at the annual meeting of the Norwich Historical Society inside the Slater Memorial Museum in Norwich, Connecticut. On May 16, 2015, Baker was awarded a certificate of appreciation "For Outstanding Preservation and Promotion of American History" by the Connecticut Daughters of the American Revolution.

An American drama teacher named Dino Chalmers (Christina Ricci), who has a passion for Shakespeare, gets the opportunity to work at a school in Sydney, Australia, where she attempts to introduce theatre as an alternative to life on the tough streets of Redfern in Sydney. She meets a 16-year-old Aboriginal student named Liam (Hunter Page-Lochard), who lives around the block in Redfern and lives a life of drugs and violence. Chalmers presents Liam with a possibility of a life without drugs and violence by giving him the lead in the production of Hamlet, and so he must choose between pursuing his newfound dream of acting or following his family into a cycle of crime. In addition to this, Dino is in an unhappy relationship with her boyfriend and occasionally finds herself parked outside a shop to watch a woman.

The day Guido announces the news that he will lose all his money to his wife, his young lover Maggie leaves him, as she was only after his money. As he races after Maggie on a defective Vespa to return her handbag she had accidentally left behind, Guido attracts the attention of Tilli, a pickpocket working the local subways who has a passion for horoscopes and Arsene Lupin, and her brother Momo, a bumbling counterfeiter, two members of a family clan of petty criminals. Their grandfather had earlier attempted to break into a jewelry shop, only to be thwarted by the Quiller glass, and was arrested by the police. When Guido crashes into a fountain, Tilli and Momo, thinking that he is a fellow thief, take him to their home; but his involuntary bath has infected Guido with laryngitis, rendering him temporarily mute and thus unable to identify himself.

Sue Ross is the co-founder of Sistagraphy, a collective of women photographers, most of whom are based in Atlanta, Georgia, that has a passion for photography. In Atlanta, Sue is known as the PhotoGriot, sharing stories of the African American community through a photo lens. Sue has captured culture events and programs, as well as dignitaries and civil rights leaders who live and have visited the City of Atlanta, including but not limited to National Black Arts Festival, Atlanta Jazz Festival, Nelson Mandela, Ambassador Andrew Young, the past six African American Mayors (Maynard Jackson, Andrew Young, William "Bill" Campbell, Shirley Franklin, M. Kasim Reed and Keisha Lance Bottoms) of the City of Atlanta, and more. Since 1985, Sue has exhibited her work throughout Atlanta, including places such as Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture & History, Hammonds House, Mason Murer Gallery, Micheal C. An artist who has a passion for all sorts of metamorphoses, sublimations and transmutations, Jean-Michel Othoniel has a predilection for materials with reversible properties. Othoniel first gained recognition with a series of sculptures made of sulfur, exhibited at Documenta IX in Kassel in 1992. In 1993, Jean-Michel Othoniel introduced glass into his work and began to explore its properties. Transformations, mutations of materials, and rites of passage from one state to another echo an essential rite in the artist’s work: that of journeys and memory. In 1994, he participated in the exhibition Féminin/Masculin at the Pompidou Center in Paris, with an installation entitled My Beautiful Closet, a mise-en-scène of dancers filmed in the darkness of a closet. In 1996, Othoniel hung gigantic necklaces in the bamboo gardens of the Villa Medici in Rome, and later in the trees of the Venetian garden of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection (1997), and at the Alhambra and Generalife, in Granada (1999).

Barbara Bergmann notes that equality of the sexes was not present throughout civilization – around there is an economic and social division of labor between men and women historically. Although there has been an influx of women into the labor market and men are performing a larger amount of household labor, there is still an economic division between men and women. Bergmann views the best and most feasible option for equality to be “high commodification” where many of the household tasks and childcare predominantly performed by women are outsourced to organizations and individuals. “High commodification” would include government subsidies for childcare and availability for stipends for married couples and single mothers. Bergmann believes that an increase in commodificaion alone cannot bring about equality, but there also needs to be “an end to discrimination in employment, highly competitive behavior by women, and extra resources from government for families who are raising children.” Bergmann has a passion for gender equality and desires to see government provisions for equitable treatment of women in the workforce.

The film tells the story of how the Pettigrew family, living in their family estate Kiloran House in Scotland, deal with changes brought by the end of World War I, told through the point of view of one of the Pettigrew children, Fraser (Robert Norman). The family is headed by the maternal grandmother MacIntosh (Rosemary Harris), affectionately known as "Gamma", whose decisions are to be obeyed without question. Gamma's son Morris (Malcolm McDowell) left home to build a career for himself and succeed as a well-to-do businessman; while her younger daughter Moira (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) followed the traditional route - she fell in love with Edward Pettigrew (Colin Firth), gave up a promising chance at becoming an opera singer, settled down at her family estate and raised a large family. Edward is a typical country gentry of his time - owns a minor business (turning sphagnum moss into medical dressings), a pious man and defender of traditional values (gives a speech at every Sunday service), loves and listens only to Beethoven and has a passion for inventions and mechanical improvements all over the estate.
