The MAC-10 and MAC-11 use suppressors to reduce muzzle climb, while other designs use a combination of burst limiters, forward hand-grips, ported barrels and muzzle brakes. Gunsite, a US firearms training facility, decided against teaching machine pistol firing when it was founded in 1976.

Other international groups have proposed criteria that include metrics on walking speed, distance walked in 6 minutes, or grip strength. Hand grip strength alone has also been advocated as a clinical marker of sarcopenia that is simple and cost effective and has good predictive power, although it does not provide comprehensive information. There are screening tools for sarcopenia that assess patient reported difficulty in doing daily activities such as walking, climbing stairs or standing from a chair and have been shown to predict sarcopenia and poor functional outcomes.

During much of her career as a photojournalist she used a variety of cameras including the Graflex 4x5 press camera with sheet film holders, a reflex camera with 120 roll film (probably Rolleiflex), and two 35mm compact cameras, Contax and Leica. The early 5x7 Graflex used flash powder for artificial lighting. The press Graflex and Rolleiflex used flash bulbs in detachable hand-grip units.

Beneath the cellar floor a layer, a few centimetres (approx one inch) thick, was found that proved to be the remains of a bonfire, possibly associated with the abandonment of the fort. Paretti attempted to pressure authorities to reject the death penalty and commute his sentence to no avail. He was electrocuted on February 17, 1927, at the age of 35. One of his last visitors was future Mafia boss, Vito Genovese, and his brother Aniello who had spent 8 months on death row himself before being released.

In this configuration, the V-shaped "butterfly" trigger is located at the very rear of the weapon with a "spade handle" hand-grip on either side of it and the bolt release in the center. The spade handles are gripped and the butterfly trigger is depressed with one or both thumbs. Book: The Behind the Scene Story of a Television Classic St. Martin's Press New York 1987 The standard barrel of the P-38 was shortened and modified to accept a bird-cage flash suppressor. The Special was depicted on screen as firing "sleep darts". Although the non-lethal feature of the gun was always the intent of its creators, this was not always clearly shown to the audience especially in later seasons, and as producers changed. For situations where more firepower was necessary, the concealable pistol was modified to accept a barrel extension with hand-grip and silencer, a Phantom Bushnell pistol scope, an extended magazine and a collapsible shoulder stock.

The AK-63 (also known in Hungarian military service as the AMM) is a Hungarian variant of the AKM assault rifle manufactured by the Fegyver- és Gépgyár (FÉG) state arms plant in Hungary. It is currently used by the Hungarian Ground Forces as its standard infantry weapon, and by most other branches of the Hungarian Defence Forces. In Hungarian service, the AK-63 replaced the AMD-65, which is nearly identical but features a modified heat shield and a vertical forward hand grip under the barrel. Although the AMD-65 had been the Hungarian service rifle since 1965, it was more expensive to build, and the forward grips had a reputation for being easily damaged in the field.

The Swedish Army also recognized these improvements and subsequently adopted the Americanized version of the AT4 as the Pansarskott m/86 (Pskott m/86), with the addition of a forward folding hand grip to help steady the AT4 when being aimed and fired. The AUG features an Spz-kr type progressive trigger (pulling the trigger halfway produces semi- automatic fire, pulling the trigger all the way to the rear produces fully automatic fire) and a safety mechanism (cross-bolt, button type), located immediately above the hand grip. In its "safe" position (white dot) the trigger is mechanically disabled; pressing the safety button to the left exposes a red dot and indicates the weapon is ready to fire. Some versions have an ALO or "automatic lockout", a small projection at the base of the trigger. A gray Nintendo 64 controller The Nintendo 64 controller is Nintendo's fifth generation controller and features ten buttons, an analog control stick, and a directional pad. The controller is in the shape of an "M", and was designed to be held in three different positions. First, it can be held by the two outer grips, allowing use of the D-pad, right-hand face buttons and the "L" and "R" shoulder buttons (but not the "Z" trigger or analog stick). However, many believed Hogan did not reveal all that he knew at the time. The Konica Hexar RF is similar in form-factor to Leica M-mount cameras, being slightly larger than the archetypal Leica M3 design in all dimensions, and just slightly heavier when batteries are fitted. Body construction is a cast-aluminium chassis with titanium top and bottom plates, finished in flat black, with a rubberised cover and slightly raised hand-grip. In 2014, Smith & Wesson introduced the M&P; Bodyguard 380 to replace the Bodyguard 380. The M&P; Bodyguard is functionally identical to its predecessor but is now considered a part of the Smith & Wesson M&P; line of pistols. The first M&P; branded Bodyguard removes the integral laser sight of the previous pistol and brings the aesthetics in line with the rest of the M&P; product line, specifically the "fish scale" slide grip and more aggressive texture on the hand grip. The radio operates on spread spectrum and has a good level of security being designed with LPI (low probability of interception). An inbuilt receiver enables the radio to be keyed remotely via a short range encoded Press To Talk switch fob, the switch being mounted on a weapon or hand grip of a military vehicle. The switch code can be changed in the field and the radio configured to work with up to 4 different switches (useful for soldiers sharing transport such as motor cycles where the PTT switch can be handlebar mounted).

The Olympus E-410 (or Olympus EVOLT E-410 in North America) is a 10 megapixel digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera intended be the smallest and lightest DSLR on the market. Announced in March 2007 to succeed the E-400 (which was only marketed in Europe), it adds a live preview function and a new "Olympus TruePic III" processing chip that is claimed to provide better performance. The E-410 body and lens mount conform to the Four Thirds System standard, providing compatibility with other lenses for that system. (Four Thirds System lenses are smaller and lighter than lenses with similar specifications from other DSLR systems.) Like the E-400, the E-410 is notable for its small size, omitting the hand grip and exploiting the smaller sensor of the Four Thirds System.

The grenade launchers are similar in appearance and fire the same 40 mm caliber ammunition and use the same High-Low System developed by Germany in late World War II to keep recoil forces low without a rocket or other type of recoilless weapon back blast. The GP-30(M) is a stripped-down model grenade launcher, consisting of a very short, 40 mm rifled barrel in front of a basic trigger mechanism with minimal hand grip. On top of the barrel is mounting gear to attach the weapon under the barrel of an AK- series assault rifle, from where it is designed to be fired. A grenade is first muzzle loaded into the barrel, the weapon is aimed, then the self- cocking trigger is pulled to fire the weapon.

Historians argue about how common body armour would have been among phalangites (especially those in the middle ranks), but when it was worn it ranged from a cuirass of hardened linen (the linothorax), that may or may not have been reinforced/decorated with metal scales to metallic (typically bronze) breastplates. The phalangite's shield - long misconstrued thanks to its description as a "buckler" by several writers - was a -diameter affair and less concave than the hoplite's aspis. It was secured by both a shoulder harness and a fore-arm brace, allowing the off-hand to release the hand-grip and make wielding the enormous sarissa pike possible. Metallic greaves were also worn (especially by the front and rear-most ranks) to cover the shins of the soldier as he stood his ground.

A Welrod 9mm pistol Some purpose-designed insurgency weapons were designed for a dual use–that is for use by both insurgents and conventional soldiers. The Welrod pistol was a simple, bolt-action pistol developed by the SOE for use in World War II. It was designed for supplying to foreign British-aligned insurgents and for use by covert British forces. The pistol was designed with an integral sound suppressor, and was ideal for killing sentries and other covert work; the bolt-operated action meant that cocking the gun produced almost no noise, and the bulky but efficient suppressor eliminated nearly all of the muzzle blast. Welrod pistols included a magazine that doubled as a hand-grip, and were originally produced with no markings save a serial number.

The TT-33 is still in service in the Bangladeshi and North Korean armed forces today while police in Pakistan still commonly use the TT pistol as a sidearm, though unofficially, as it is being replaced by modern 9 mm Beretta and SIG pistols. In China, the TT-33 pistol is also occasionally supplied to the People's Armed Police and People's Liberation Army under the name Type 54. The Tokarev is popular with pistol collectors and shooters in the West because of its ruggedness and reliability as well as its similar design to the M1911. However, some complaints include poor-quality grips (which are often replaced by the wrap- around Tokagypt 58 grips) and a hand grip which extends at a vertical angle awkward for many Western shooters.

As with the E-400 (in Europe only) and E-410 before it, the E-420 is notable for its portability, especially when coupled with the simultaneously released Olympus 25mm f2.8 pancake lens. In addition to being based on the inherently more compact Four- Thirds system, its diminutive size is achieved by the use of a substantially smaller right hand grip than found on most dSLRs (similar to the grip design used on the E-400 and E-410, but with an added "ridge" for comfort and stability), as well as the continued exclusion of Olympus' well-known sensor- shift image stabilization from the package. The E-420 uses Olympus' Supersonic Wave Filter to remove dust from the surface of the image sensor. The E-420 was announced in March 2008 to replace the E-410, and shipping started two months later.

Eglinton Tournament (1839) During the War of the Triple Alliance (1864–70), the Paraguayan cavalry made effective use of locally manufactured lances, both of conventional design and of an antique pattern used by gauchos for cattle herding. The 1860s saw ash, beech or pine wood lances, of varying lengths but each with iron points and butts, adopted by the uhlan regiments of the Saxon, Wurttemberg, Bavarian and Prussian armies. The Franco-Prussian War of 1870 saw the extensive deployment of cavalry armed with lances on both sides. While the opportunities for using this weapon effectively proved infrequent during the actual conflict; the entire cavalry (hussars, dragoons, cuirassiers and uhlans) of the post-war Imperial German Army subsequently adopted the lance as a primary weapon. After 1893 the standard German cavalry lance was made of drawn tubular steel, covered with clear lacquer and with a hemp hand-grip.

The priming of msDNA synthesis offers a fascinating challenge to our understanding of DNA synthesis. DNA polymerases (which include RT) share highly conserved structural features, which means that their active catalytic sites vary little from species to species, or even between DNA polymerases using DNA as a template, versus DNA polymerases using RNA as a template. The catalytic region of eukaryotic reverse transcriptase comprises three domains termed the "fingers", "palm", and "thumb" which hold the double- stranded primer-template in a right-hand grip with the 3'-OH of the primer buried in the active site of the polymerase, a cluster of highly conserved acidic and polar residues situated on the palm between what would be the index and middle fingers. In eukaryotic RTs, the RNase H domain lies on the wrist below the base of the thumb, but retron RTs lack RNase H activity.
