George C. Hield, a former hay dealer from Wisconsin, was the most important player in the growth of the Falconer District. Some critics argue that the prestige of the Prize in Economics derives in part from its association with the Nobel Prizes, an association that has often been a source of controversy. Among them is the Swedish human rights lawyer Peter Nobel, a great-grandnephew of Ludvig Nobel. Nobel accuses the awarding institution of misusing his family's name, and states that no member of the Nobel family has ever had the intention of establishing a prize in economics. He explained that "Nobel despised people who cared more about profits than society's well-being", saying that "There is nothing to indicate that he would have wanted such a prize", and that the association with the Nobel prizes is "a PR coup by economists to improve their reputation".

The Foundation wished to help then Secretary- General Kofi Annan with the problem of reforming the UN. They also desired to bolster UN programs that were viewed as successful, including children's health, population control, environment issues, and land-mines. One of their priorities was also to work with the private sector to raise more money for the UN. They also had the intention of raising awareness of the UN and its programs amongst the American population. When Aktai asked Aybak to allow him to live inside the citadelCitadel of the Mountain was the abode and court of the sultan in Cairo with his future wife who was the sister of al-Malik al-Mansour, the Emir of Hama, Aybak became convinced that Aktai and his Mamluks had the intention to overthrow him and, thus, he decided to get rid of them.

Bajro Ikanović (born 8 November 1976) is a Bosnian Islamist, terrorist, and senior commander in the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. Ikanović was born in Hrnčići, Bratunac, eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ikanović had previously been sentenced to eight years for terrorism offenses linked to the Bektašević case on January 10, 2007, which was reduced to four years on appeal on May 21, 2007. He was released from prison in 2011. According to the prosecution, “Mirsad Bektašević and Abdulkadir Cesur [had] the intention of committing a terrorist act on the territory of BiH or some other European country…the aim of this attach [sic] was to force the Bosnian government or government of another state to withdraw their forces from Iraq and Afghanistan.” The State Investigation and Protection Agency opened an investigation against him on 10 June 2014 and the Prosecutor's Office submitted a report on the crime committed and the perpetrator due to the suspicion of having committed a criminal offense under Article 202d.

According to Exquemelin's original account, the slaves took over the ship in a revolt and brought it to the coast, while the Spanish translation of the account, which may have had access to other sources, said the ship was carrying the slaves to "Tierra Firme" (Panama) and it wrecked on an island and the slaves swam ashore.Alexandre Exquemelin, Piratas de la America y luz à la defensa de la costa de las Indias Occidentales (Colonia Agrippina, 1681), p. 304 The French translation adds that the ship was Portuguese and had the intention of carrying the slaves to Brazil, and this section may also have been influenced by other unnamed sources. Pedro de Rivera, writing in 1742 reported that the ship that was wrecked in 1650 "according to tradition" and that it was owned byPedro de Rivera, "Notes by the Captain General of Guatemala Suggesting Means for the Expulsion of the Mosquitos," 30 November 1742 in Costa Rica-Panama Arbitration Documents.

In January 1944 Novak and Dobrosav Jevđević, head of Mihailović's intelligence service in Italy,: "Jevdjevič je bil namreč vodja obveščevalne službe Draže Mihailoviča v Italiji." established a Chetnik military unit in the Slovenian Littoral and established its first detachment in the Gorizia Hills.: "Januarja 1944 sta začela Dobrosav Jevdjevič in Karel Novak, 'ki ga je general Mihailovič za božič 1943 povišal v čin podpolkovnika' ... " Novak was some kind of envoy for Mihailović with the Allies in Italy and had the intention of using this new Chetnik unit as the nucleus for new Chetnik action in Slovenia, and so he requested that Mihailovic's headquarters obtain financial support from the Yugoslav embassy in Switzerland.:"Karel Novak, po katastrofi v Grčaricah neke vrste Mihailovića 'delegat' za stike z zahodnimi zavezniki v Italiji, je prav ta odred v januarju 1944 nameraval uporabiti za »jedro nove akcije v Sloveniji« in je zaradi tega štab Draže Mihailovića naj pri vladi doseže izplačilo določene vsote denarja preko Švice in tamkajšnjega jugoslovanskega poslaništva" Novak died in Athens in 1975.

Their defence was countered by the prosecution, consisting of Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Ng Cheng Thiam and DPP Imran Abdul Hamid, who sought to dispute their defences and argued that they in fact had the knowledge that some of their fellow gang members were armed. On 8 July 2002, at the end of the trial, JC Choo acquitted both boys of murder, and instead, he found both Fazely and Khairul guilty of rioting under section 147 of the Penal Code and sentenced them to 5 years' imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane each, and backdate their sentences to the respective dates of their arrests. In his judgement, JC Choo determined that the common intention of the gang was to find rival gang members and beat them up, and that not all the gang members were armed. He also stated he was not convinced that the boys had indeed seen the others using knives to stab Sulaiman, or even if the boys carried on assaulting the victim after he was stabbed, that they had the intention to cause death or cause grievous hurt with dangerous weapons.

A July 19 satellite image of the Pangandaran coast showing tsunami debris Officials in Indonesia received information regarding the tsunami in the form of bulletins from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center and the Japan Meteorological Agency, but wanted to avoid panic, and did not attempt to disseminate the advisories to the public. Virtually no time was available to make that sort of effort (had the intention been to communicate the danger with the public) because some community leaders were sent text messages with pertinent information only minutes prior to the arrival of the first waves. The tsunami affected the coast of Java comprising mostly fishing villages and beach resorts that were unscathed following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, and was also only several hundred kilometers distant from the region that saw heavy destruction just several months prior during the 2006 Yogyakarta earthquake. Trained research teams were already on the ground on Java responding to the May earthquake and began a survey of more than one hundred Muslim farmers, plantation laborers, and fishermen (or those with fishing-related occupations) that were affected by the tsunami.

A decision upon that matter was requested from the Holy See. As the Neminem latet decree said nothing about nullity of solemn profession made in opposition to its regulation, the solemn profession made without the prescribed three years of simple vows was valid, though illicit. In this papal constitution, Pius IX declared: > We, therefore, in a matter of such great importance, desiring to remove all > occasion of future doubt, of Our own motion and certain knowledge, and in > the plenitude of Our Apostolic power as regards the religious communities of > men of whatever order, congregation, or institution in which solemn vows are > made, do determine and decree to be null and void and of no value the > profession of solemn vows, knowingly or ignorantly, in any manner, colour or > pretext, made by novices or lay brothers, who, although they had completed > the Tridentine probation and novitiate, had not previously made profession > of simple vows and remained in that profession for the entire three years, > even though the superiors, or they, or both respectively, had the intention > of admitting to, or making, solemn vows, and had used all the ceremonies > prescribed for solemn profession. Women were not included in this law.

The FBI sent Evola to join the World Church of the Creator after Hale gave a speech at the funeral of Benjamin Nathaniel Smith. In March 2000, Evola attended his first World Church of the Creator meeting and won Hale's trust by confronting a protester to the organization. At a meeting the next month in April 2000, Hale invited Evola to be his "head of security" which entailed arranging Hale's travel plans and serving as a personal bodyguard. During his tenure as bodyguard, Evola recorded conversations that would be later used as evidence against Hale in a court of law. In a recorded conversation on June 17, 2000, Hale described Smith as a "good man" and a "comrade". On June 23, Hale told Evola and two other followers that he wished Smith “hadn't done it” and lamented the difficulty of nonviolent resistance through the courts without a license to practice law. On June 29, Evola recorded Hale stating that he “personally still [had the] intention” to follow the law himself because he was being “watched all the time”. On June 30, 2000 the Supreme Court of the United States refused Hale's appeal to challenge the state of Illinois's denial of his license to practice law.
