David William Thomas (born May 20, 1949) is a Canadian comedian, actor and television writer. He is best known for being one half of the duo Bob and Doug McKenzie with Rick Moranis. He appeared as Doug McKenzie on SCTV, for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award out of two nominations, and in the film Strange Brew (1983), which he also co-directed. As a duo, they made two albums, The Great White North and Strange Brew, the former gaining them a Grammy Award nomination and a Juno Award.

In 1981, Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas recorded a Bob and Doug McKenzie comedy album, The Great White North, which sold a million copies. Based on this success, they thought about parlaying that success into a feature film. After fellow SCTV cast member John Candy got an offer from Universal Pictures to do a film called Going Berserk, Moranis and Thomas started talking about writing a screenplay for a Bob and Doug film. It is a retrospective on the history of the characters and their popularity, featuring interviews with various celebrities, classic clips, and new material featuring the pair. The English rock band Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds have released three studio albums, four extended plays (EPs), one box set, fourteen singles and thirteen music videos. Originally formed by eponymous frontman Noel Gallagher in 2010 following his departure from Oasis, the band released their self- titled debut album in October 2011. It topped the UK Albums Chart and has since sold over 820,000 copies in the UK. Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds was supported by five singles, two of which reached the top 20 of the UK Singles Chart. B-sides from the first four of these were released in April 2012 as Songs from the Great White North... A year after the release of their debut album, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds released the live video album International Magic Live at the O2, which documented the band's performance at The O2 Arena in February 2012.

The themes of gentle slapstick and ironic but affectionate observation of small-town Canadian life that appeared in the work of Stephen Leacock carried forward into the later part of the twentieth century to reappear in successful television sitcoms such as The Beachcombers, Corner Gas and Little Mosque on the Prairie. Canadian humour took on an even broader form in the comedy of SCTV, in particular the Great White North sketches, The Red Green Show and more recently Trailer Park Boys. Traditional music in much of English-speaking Canada has sources in the music of Scotland and Ireland, brought to Newfoundland and the Maritime provinces in the 19th century. In the late 20th Century, Maritime artists, particularly musicians from Cape Breton Island such as Rita MacNeil, the Rankin Family, Natalie MacMaster and Ashley MacIsaac and Great Big Sea from Newfoundland achieved substantial popularity and influence throughout English Canada.
