The Allgemeine Grainstore is a former granary now used for office space and parking facilities. It is located at 17 Philosophenweg, Duisburg Inner Harbour. The warehouse was built for the "Allgemeine Speditionsgesellschaft" (General Express Company). When it was built in 1936 it transformed the technology of concrete silo construction technology.

Demarnia Lloyd is a New Zealand musician, known for her work with the group Cloudboy. She has also produced comics. Lloyd was the inaugural artist in residence at Smith's Grainstore, Oamaru (2001). She has been in a number of bands a well as Cloudboy (Munky Kramp, Mink) and also works as a solo artist.

She was a winner in the 1991 Nelson World of Wearable Art Awards. Demente has been very heavily involved in the revival of the art scene in North Otago and is the organiser of Oamaru's annual mask festival. She currently resides in the North Otago town of Oamaru and exhibits much of her work in her "Grainstore Gallery" which is situated in Harbour Street, Oamaru's Historic Precinct.

A distillery, the Dublin Whiskey Distillers (D.W.D.), was founded in the 1870s on the banks of the River Tolka, and known as the Jones Road Distillery (Distillery Road being a continuation of Jones Road). The distillery closed in 1946 and the property was sold. A number of buildings were built and are still standing and a number of buildings although redeveloped retain the names connected with the distillery such as The Corn Mill, The Granary, The Grainstore and Distillery Lofts.

Their first venture was the Vaults in Wellington St. Leicester in 1996, followed by the Robert Catesby a 1600-century Inn, in Wells Norfolk. The beer was originally brewed in the old washhouse and coal store at the back of the Bentley Brook Inn, Fenny Bentley. A decision was made to contract the beer production out as sales had outgrown the brewery; this initially was undertaken by local brewery, The Grainstore, Oakham. In 2004, the beer brewing moved for a time to the Victorian Tower Brewery in the old Thomas Salt Maltings in Burton.

East Cork Early Music Festival is an Irish arts festival that is intended to "promote the performance and appreciation" of music written before 1750 on period instruments. Formed in 2003 under the artistic direction of Sarah Cunningham, the festival takes place in the East Cork area during the autumn (usually at the beginning of October). It features concerts, lectures, workshops and other events related to early music. East Cork Early Music Festival has included events in local landmark buildings such as St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral, Fota House, the Grainstore at Ballymaloe, the Collegiate Church in Youghal and Cloyne Cathedral.

However, in 2010 former Ruddles head brewer Tony Davis revived Rutland Bitter, brewed at his Grainstore Brewery in Oakham, Rutland."Rutland Bitter resurrected" Leicester Mercury 1 Oct 2010 A television commercial for Ruddles in 1993 featured the last appearance of Vivian Stanshall narrating as Hubert, brother of Sir Henry Rawlinson of Rawlinson End played by Mel Smith and a cross-dressing Dawn French. In 1996, Ruddles Best won the gold medal in the ordinary bitter category at the first World Beer Cup. Ruddles Best took silver in the bitter category at the Champion Beer of Britain in 1997.

Romanesque entrance gateway Model of the abbey church, the conventual buildings and the lay brothers' building as built c. 1175–1230 Mausoleum with the tombs of the Wettins Former grainstore Altzella Abbey, also Altzelle Abbey ( or Altzelle, previously Cella or Cella Sanctae Mariae), is a former Cistercian monastery near Nossen in Saxony, Germany. The former abbey contains the tombs of the Wettin margraves of Meissen from 1190 to 1381. The premises and gardens, surrounded by the precinct wall of the former monastery, and known as the Klosterpark Altzella, are now maintained by the Schloss Nossen/Kloster Altzella Administration, and consist of a Romantic park, ruins and restored buildings, used for various cultural and religious functions, such as Corpus Christi processions.

The pub chain's Northampton managers had been preparing to re-introduce a Phipps draught bitter at the time of the S&N; sale and took the opportunity to take over the dormant company name and trademark. Draught Phipps IPA was re-launched in December 2008. This was followed by NBC's Red Star, Ratliffe's Celebrated Stout in 2009 and Phipps Diamond Ale in 2012. The beers were brewed from original recipes at Grainstore brewery, Oakham under the supervision of a number of old Phipps brewers. The key figure amongst these was Pat Heron, an NBC and Phipps NBC brewer from 1954 to 1966 before becoming head brewer at Hall and Woodhouse In early 2014 the company returned production to Northampton by restoring and back converting the Albion Brewery on Kingswells Street.

The Victorian theme has been embraced by local shops and galleries in this part of Oamaru in terms of shopfittings and decor. Further enhancing the "olden days" feel of the precinct are several arts & crafts shops, a transportation museum, an antique furniture shop, and traditional businesses such as book shops, antique clothing shops, and a book binder. Many of the buildings in this area close to the harbour used to serve as commercial warehouses and stores and now provide large spaces for galleries such as the Forrester Gallery, the Grainstore Gallery, The Libratory and Steampunk HQ. Even the playgrounds in the harbour area continue the Victorian/industrial steam theme with a giant Penny Farthing structure supporting the swings, and several Steampunk-styled playground features. Public Gardens at Oamaru circa 1925 In August 2016 Oamaru made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest gathering of steampunks in the world, a term that was coined in the 1980s and is based on imagining inventions the Victorians might have created for the modern world.
