Alice in Chains paid tribute with a photo of Cornell on their social media pages with the caption, "We are heartbroken".

In June 2013, drummer Valerie Franco left the band and was replaced by Veronica Bellino. In July 2013, the band signed a deal with the Manimal Vinyl label and released their first single, "Gone", via iTunes on October 8, 2013. On July 15, 2014, Halo Circus released their second single, a cover of Duran Duran's "Do You Believe in Shame?". This release was met to very positive reviews from critics, and was included in a Duran Duran tribute album, Making Patterns Rhyme.

The South Col is a sharp-edged col between Mount Everest and Lhotse, the highest and fourth-highest mountains in the world, respectively. The South Col is typically swept by high winds, leaving it free of significant snow accumulation. Since 1950 (when Tibet was closed), most Everest expeditions have left from Nepal and gone via the southeast ridge and the South Col (instead of via the North Col). When climbers attempt to climb Everest from the southeast ridge in Nepal, their final camp (usually Camp IV) is situated on the South Col.

The purpose of the link was to facilitate the running of ironstone traffic from South Wales to (which had previously gone via the Alcester to Hatton Branch Line) and also to enable the closure of the line between Stratford and . In the event, the traffic did not materialise and the curve closed on 5 July 1965. Due to increased motor vehicle usage, the number of passengers using the Racecourse station decreased and it was closed on 25 March 1968 following the withdrawal of the twice-daily DMU which ran between and . Freight services continued to pass through the station until 1 November 1976 when the line itself was closed.

While waiting for the ferry, Conway reveals what happened while he was talking with the Strangers - he and Shannon had gone via a hidden elevator to an underground whiskey distillery staffed by odd, indistinct glowing skeletons, identical in appearance to Conway's new leg. While at the factory, Conway is mistaken for a new hire as a shipping truck driver and coerced into taking a drink of a very expensive whiskey, and is subsequently roped into a job driving trucks for the distillery to pay it off. Act III ends with the ferry arriving.

In the mid-1770s a canal to link the River Mersey with the Sankey Canal was proposed. This route would have gone via Halewood, Cronton and Tarbock but was opposed by the Earl of Derby and the Earl of Sefton as being unnecessary and after a few years the scheme was dropped. In the late nineteenth century there seems to have been a phase of re-development, albeit on a small scale with the Post Office and Smithy building which was originally thatched, being rebuilt in 1884. In 1890 a large pavilion was built alongside the Brick Wall Inn and was an important centre for social and community events until it was demolished in 1940 as part of the complete re-building of the Brick Wall Inn site.
