Godcasting – a portmanteau of "God" and "podcasting" – was a neologism commonly used in 2005 to refer to religious uses of podcasting (which was a brand-new medium at the time). Rah Digga released a new album, Classic, in 2010. Production was handled by Nottz, and a promo single was released entitled "This Ain't No Lil Kid Rap". Since then she has been releasing music independently through SoundCloud, Bandcamp and the iTunes Store. Digga currently co-hosts a podcast, Yanadameen Godcast, with a fellow rapper Lord Jamar and comedian, Godfrey.

As of September 20, 2005, known trademarks that attempted to capitalize on podcast included: ePodcast, GodCast, GuidePod, MyPod, Pod- Casting, Podango, PodCabin, Podcast, Podcast Realty, Podcaster, PodcastPeople, Podgram PodKitchen, PodShop, and Podvertiser. By February 2007, there had been 24 attempts to register trademarks containing the word "PODCAST" in the United States, but only "PODCAST READY" from Podcast Ready, Inc. was approved.

He released his debut solo album The 5% Album (an album dedicated to the Nation of Gods and Earths) on June 27, 2006. Like his onscreen character on Oz, Jamar is a member of the Nation of Gods and Earths. Jamar currently co-hosts a podcast, Yanadameen Godcast, with fellow rapper Rah Digga.

Superego was developed by Jeremy Carter and Matt Gourley, who met at a ComedySportz tournament in the mid-1990s and were founding contributors to Channel 101 where their show, Ultraforce, was a number one series. After finding the video production process to be a burden, they hit upon the idea of audio sketches as a less production-intensive medium. At a bar on the day after Christmas in 2005, Carter and Gourley first came up with the idea of a "Godcast"; the idea then transformed into a clinic for personality disorders in order to grant more improvisational freedom. The podcast debuted in 2006. Mark McConville joined the podcast permanently in season 2 after having guested during the show's first season.
